Good fun to throw reflect up and watch them kill themselves and their buddies. I actually ran d/p + p/p + perma evade thief back just before they buffed it because it would rip guardians, druids, tempests etc etc to pieces. A little cheesy I know. Got tired of hacking away at builds that weren’t taking any damage.
The one class that gave me issues sometimes was scrapper…so I picked up scrapper and been playing mostly scrapper since then.
Reflect is pretty easy to counter though. Thief just has to move crosswise to target to avoid most of the returning projectiles and maybe throw in an evade when needed.
T3 got a bit boring this matchup. 2 of the servers only fight with map blobs (one is a bit better on this but finding a good Roamer is like finding a diamond in your cereal box).The blobbiest server barely has any roaming or havoc. Everyone is on tag or hiding.
3rd server has bad NA numbers but solid numbers late…so night capping. It was actually not bad the week before when there was more roaming and small fights during the day.
T4 was a hellish mess when I left. Not sure how it is now.
Just transferred into T1 and feels a bit scarce to me. Found some good smaller fights though and most of the roamers are much better. I’m sure NA prime is probably insane. I don’t really have the full picture on this yet.

Which is why those Necros in that crew run Corrupt Boon. Load em up then corrupt any boon spam. It is the most efficient skirmish crew I have seen and the only one I actively avoid. There is no counter I am aware of aside from a substantially larger force with a lot of cleanse.
Yeah with a group built for this it’s insane. Anyone that loses resistance for even a tick or 2 is dead. If you happen to lose a rev (which is probably piled with condis anyway due to pain absorption) you’re going to lose the whole sub squad. Not fun to fight at all.
I dont really mind the chests but when u get a bag out of a bag out of a chest which is in a chest, then yes it gets annoying. Unneeded imo.
^That’s my problem with it. I really wouldn’t mind having a reward track that just gave gold or sup siege though.
This would be perfect. Maybe something to handle loot better from ppk too.
Give moa form resistance, stability, a machine gun, a cloaking device and deflector shields. People would be lining up to get moa’d.
An average Engi is better than a great thief, rev, warr, and Mesmer. That is not ok. So imagine what a great Engi would look like? An unkillable class that can burst with the best of them.

Especially enjoyed the class choices. Though power based thieves and mes at least have a high ceiling as far as skill.
Thing just is that roaming doesn’t really matter. Condi should get boost because it’s bad in real WvW.
Ouch. Roaming, havoc and small group are a big part of wvw too. Not every server can have blob wars on every map 24/7.
Condi mesmer is really strong but not so easy to play. More than a build i suggest you to roll a mesmer, copy the build from metabattle and do a some hotjoin matches. You will learn how it works , how to see the “right” mesmer and how to avoid his burst. I had problem against mesmer too, now i play mesmer quite often ( 30% of the time becouse i really like it in spvp ) and playing it helped me a lot to fight against them .
Thanks. I actually have a mesmer. I’m terrible at it though. Good condi mes = I usually disengage. The good ones wouldn’t let me catch them anyway. Part of the issue is I don’t generally carry a lot of cleanse or I’m not using it right.
power does more dps in pve so it is superior in wvw
Higher DPS is largely true due to the damage multiplier traits which condi doesn’t get. In wvw/pvp however most people dont use those in favour of more defensive options. Also its dps on stationary targets while condi ticks on even if the target is blocking/evading. Just basing your argument on target golems and PvE build doesn’t hold any value. Heck if a d/wh ele actually did arround 30k dps on small targets then most players would die in about half a second. But then if the ele actually runs the build shown it is pretty realistic that he dies in half a sec.
Im not saying power > condi or vice versa. I think it entirely depends on the class and where you want to use it wvw.
Yeah this. Also, PvP lacks many build and food options + has much different stat scaling. WvW builds are usually monsters by comparison and heavy on the cheese.
I think a couple classes have some condi builds that are overturned but mostly because of other mechanics or direct issues with certain conditions. Mostly confusion, burn and immob. The latter because of how easy it is to get stuck.
If you dial condis down too much in WvW then you indirectly buff toughness.
All i see is nerfs.

Looking for suggestions on my current build and play. It pretty much does everything I want it to do and does it well. Outnumbered fights, zerg surfing, res botting, wrecking stuff with CC, harassing blobs. I haven’t played engi all that long though so wondering if some engi pros have some better things I should try.
I have issues against decent condi mes and some decent condi thieves though…unless I swap in purge gyro.
I change a few things around depending. Blast gyro is mostly for fun. I enjoy tossing people that aren’t paying attention and many times it’s a good delayed cc while I’m rezzing or waiting for stab to run out. Bulwark is mostly for reflect. Throwing this up while harassing a pug blob actually downs people. I do run expensive food when there are lots of fights.
Ways to make this better without dropping stats? I could go more damage but I love to yolo into piles of bad guys. It kills everything except maybe heavy bunker warrior/guard/tempest…usually stalemate.
Armor was cheap so could easily switch it to whatever.
Best rotations for resetting, escaping, damage and ongoing sustain? Best rotation to deal with heavy condi pressure?

What the hell kind of worthless build are you running that you are 1v1’ing on a glassy build without cc or disengage?
I don’t have trouble with druids at all on scrapper other than not being able to catch them when they run. Druids are capable of having great heal, great defense, tricky evades stealth invuln, great mobility and certainly enough damage to down someone in decent time.
The dmg isn’t great by any means but buffing it much without looking at everything else would probably just break wvw even more.

When one side of the matchup gets ahead by 100k, the other 2 sides get free super powered golems with lasers and missile launchers. Winning side gets to face a horde of crazy mecha pilots until the score gap closes to 70k. Golems get buffed when fighting the winning side.

Never bring a potato to a cheese fight. WVW is a cheese fight…and most pre HoT builds are the potatoes.
Mesmer mostly is my bain. Decent condi thief to a lesser extent. Depending on the situation, many times I just stealth up and find somewhere else to be.
Condi necros can be a pain too. Boon corrupt is a bit nasty if you don’t have stuff to los around. Most of them are terrible though. They treat shroud like an invuln and then freak out when it goes up in smoke.
I do think mes in particular is over the top but many of the other builds help keep us boon happy bunker builds under control.

Best wvw is swimming in red…as long as you have enough buddies to have a fighting chance.

SoS is usually light when CD and YB are blobbing in force but crazy heavy OCX. Guild raid nights and fair weathers (and people just getting bored with the matchup) cause the numbers and coverage to fluctuate. Winning also attracts new transfers.
It is a bummer though. To me a balanced matchup means constant battle at SMC and keeps that are near impossible to flip. It’s boring to roll over the map just flipping stuff.

This is at least nice for breaking up siege camps. Map blob camped out on anz hill with 8 trebs, 5 shield gens and 40 acs? Light them all on fire! Now we just need mortar blueprints.
Trolled a small group by repairing the cannon they were trying to kill. Got trolled by a small group that repaired a bali while I tried to blow it up…then used it to wipe our siege.
I tend to go through 10 to 20 siege disablers a day when I play for any decent amount of time. I throw siege like crazy all week too so I’ve had to start buying that off the TP. Stuff gets expensive and there just aren’t enough badges to go around.
I should mention…plz make a mad cat golem with dual PPC and LRM 20s
I see a future where armies of pristine golems stand in neat rows at spawn. We have entered the age of the mech warrior!
It’s just an insanely annoying build. Seems to come in waves though and most of them are terrible at it. Guessing people actually good at thief have more fun wrecking people outright with more standard builds.
Yeah no real double team. If you let us, we will paper your keep. Weakness will get exploited. If you constantly push our T3 stuff with a map blob while we are low on numbers, don’t be surprised if you get focused a bit later when our numbers show up.
A certain unnamed server with crazy high KDR seemed to love +1ing blob v blob fights…sandwiching one of the blobs and then engaging the other after half it’s frontline was wrecked. Throw in some 10v1 condi/stealth gank squads and you have a recipe for crazy KDR.
It’s not hard. It’s just boring…except the 2v1 blob fights. Those are actually fun despite any KDR hit.
Don’t see the SPvP meta hybrid build in WvW much. It is terrible at chasing people down which is what a lot of WvW revolves around due to the large spaces involved. In fact, I hardly ever see other Mesmers anymore. It’s simply not as competitive as D/P Thieves for quickly annihilating targets whilst also having the means to leave ANY fight. Why even bother playing that hyrbid build when WvW damage numbers are so high that you could just obliterate anything with a stealth opener on Thief? Which is what I do.
I’ve never seen it in a 1v1 duelling environment either because nobody really runs condi for duels as it trivialises the whole thing to just a matter of how much condi clear people are running, and therefore a reduced display of player skill.
Condi mesmers are a dime a dozen in the matchup I’m in. At least half of the thieves you see will be condi as well along with a couple trapper thieves usually running around.
SoS and YB have continued focusing CD this week and CD is still fighting through it making for one of the more competitive tiers.
We generally just switch back and forth depending on who gets the most annoying. I suspect it’s much the same for CD and YB.
I tried to take out a cheap ram with a sup bali that just happened to be there. Put 6 shots in it and barely made a dent. Would have taken me forever.

Been pretty rough on DH/ebay. We had 7 people on tag this evening with SBI running 20+ groups all over the place with roamers. Matchup is dead. Not sure what the hell anet is doing but positive they have zero plan for wvw.
Yeah saw it all from the SF side before I finally had to just run. Sucks that our servers got left for dead like this. I miss running into fights with a lot of people on GoM but that mess was just unplayable.
People say they wants fights but back cap everything every 5 to 10 minutes and then throw siege up on spawn lol

In tier 3 or 4 at least it is entirely possible. Many times depends on the builds too. A couple bruisers in close quarters against some glassier builds is possible.
It’s really not all that powerful in 1v1 against an experienced opponent. (It’s great fun against newer players, of course, but it’s not nearly as useful as the other elites.)
guess you never got double moa’d by a chrono while having 10 confusion & 10 torment on your kitten . its easily the most broken elite in the game because you deprive your enemy of all their means completely, it has no counterplay.

Most pug blobs are usually pretty good about this. Open raid guild groups though you’re probably going to get stuffed into a stabless boonless group with the thieves and engis. If another rev shows it might be gg lol
Thing that bored me out of T4 is that sbi didn’t seem to have many roamers and they are a literal PPT machine compared to CD.
Almost all SBI and HoD commanders I have run with despise PPT. There were fightgroups that had to PPT, because there were no fights to find for most of the day, since there was no resistance we just had to run over a BL and then the next one like a factory line, because we didn’t want to end up in tier 4 again. Didn’t help unfortunately.
We don’t really have many solo ppt roamers (camp-cappers, etc.), but we have some smaller roamer guild groups, etc. I think most of them got bored fast, because we are used to have opponents with more people on at all times giving them fast and plentyful fights.
Honestly you won by like 200k. Did you ever think to just stop and set something up? I get the bored thing though. Been in those matchups too where you want to wvw but there’s nothing to do.
People play wvw for fun (I think). If your opponent goes weeks without having fun they leave. I could care less about the score. All we need are some fun fights or goofy mishaps.
Open field siege war no push? Naked zvz? 10v10 squads. Glicko can screw itself. If you have the week in the bag let’s have some fun.
