Also living in Japan. I do believe a large majority of the Japanese population are playing on Jade Quarry.
There is a rather large Japanese-only guild called “Jagapotato [JP]” that has members on various different servers.
http://gw2salonjp.com/ is the unofficial Japanese GW2 community. It also a guild listing/whatnot for you to check out if you need.
Take far point and mid? Ignore bunker engi and ele at close point and win a 5v3 at the other two points.
the concept of paid PvP is fine.
The problem lies in the fact that it HAS to be a tournament.
This means that a single team needs to wait for 7 other teams who happen to be on at the same time to play paid tournaments.
Unfortunately outside of US Primetime there just don’t seem to be 7 other teams. Even during US Primetime, there are only very few teams that actually participate in paid tournaments.
Basically no teams are queuing because “no one else is queuing,” and instead of wasting their time waiting hours upon hours for a matchup (this is not exaggeration. My guild has waited 3 hours with no pop at Japan primetime (GMT+9,) people just decide to go back to free tournaments.
The tournament system itself is the cause for failure. It should have been free/paid matches. Not tournaments.

been playing paid tourneys on eu for 3 days now we had 0 issues with waiting queues as of yet
we didnt find something in <10min at one point but it was 3pm so it was to be expected not very much was going on
I would like to ask if this is the same even on off-peak times?
on the US servers, off-peak times (like oceanic prime time) are usually dead for paid tournaments. My group and I sat in queue for a good hour or so last night, with no pop, and thus decided to go back to free tournaments instead of wasting our time.
If Euro servers are still active off peak, then I think we may try moving to euro just to play some paids during our prime time.
All professions work with every race.
My main is a Sylvari thief, mostly because I play the stealth/agi/dex profession in most RPG type games.
My secondary is a Sylvari Mesmer because I find them interesting.
Paid tournaments are pretty much dead upon arrival for the prime time of the Asia/Oceanic time zone of GMT+7-11 (give or take.)
My group and I queued for a good 1 hour without any matchups, and thus just decided to go for free tournaments instead.
I’ve asked around and the general consensus is that “there is no one queueing for paid tournaments” at these times.
As such, I thought I would make this post on the official forums to see if there are any other groups that are interested in doing paid tournaments during the Asian/Oceanic prime time. If so, please post here. Perhaps if there are 8 or more groups that are active during this time zone, we can try to arrange a tournament.

I would like to think that anet has already taken this into account…
as a top diamond player, i’ll have to disagree. SC2 has actually evolved into something organic. not only are there at least several openers in terms of building order, but players can also choose what combination of units to build. all sorts of crazy build orders are possible, and viable, depending on timing.
even LoL and DoTA2 give you the option of building your character differently after a certain point.
I was talking about Starcraft Brood War.
so then everyone will be playing the same or similar builds in tpvp? is that ok?
Yes. Then it becomes a matter of who plays the build better, or “skill” if you will, which is the whole point of GW2 PvP.
Yes. Let’s all watch, on the grand stage that is E-Sport, who can pull off more shatters, Mesmer #1 or Mesmer #2.
Or which bunker Guardian dies first. Or which Thiefs’ Backstab misses.
How exciting.
This is exactly what Starcraft has evolved into, and is one of the biggest “e-sports.”

>Want to play a competitive format without using an optimal build.
Min maxing is the most basic of fundamentals of power gaming. If you’re not willing to min max, you might as well not be willing to win.

Stormbluff Isle has a healthy population of tPvPers due to inheriting alot of “top” competitive guilds from Guild Wars 1.
I really don’t care/don’t mind. But what I do hope for is if “marriage” is implemented, what would “marriage” to another player entail.
I do hope it comes with an up-side, but also responsibilities and not just a random title/something meaningless. Something like both player’s banks and inventories become shared with the other. This means that “marriage partners” would have to be chosen more carefully, and not just any random player and would definitely be an interesting feature to the game.
I’d also love to see the various whine posts regarding things like “marriage fraud,” and how someone’s legendary suddenly “disappeared” with a system like this. Would be hilarious.

I think you’re going about guilds the wrong way OP. It seems to me like you’re trying to make one of those big guilds that recruit random people to do random things.
I’ve found that in GW2 PvE you make /join guilds as a means to an end, and they’re not really the huge social circle that other MMOs have had guilds be. They are only very temporary establishments for temporary goals IMO, and tbqh just seem to function as more of an extended friends list.
For example, on my world, I was one of the first players to hit level 80. There were perhaps less than 10-15 players at level 80 on my world when I hit it. I made a guild and invited all the level 80s for the first few days so that we would know which level 80s were online/offline. This allowed for easier contact between 80s, and allowed us to more easily coordinate to do level 80 events, dungeons, what not. Of course as more and more players hit 80, the guild became redundant, and so, I disbanded it.
Next example. Perhaps you are trying to farm a certain dungeon. You group with pugs, and more pugs and more pugs. Eventually you come across certain names and faces that are familiar, and you think are decent. You make a guild for the purposes of farming said dungeon, and invite players you think are good. This allows for each member of the guild to know that 1.) all the other members of said guild should be decent at the dungeon, and 2.) everyone in the guild should be up for a dungeon run if they’re not already in one. When you are (personally) done with the farming said dungeon and don’t ever want to see it again, you pass leadership to another member of the guild, and drop guild.
Other than some things like this, I really don’t see the point of having/being in a guild, save for having your own personal guild bank.
the last time i check the gold price from my mailbox spam, the price of gold is almost 1 usd per gold… so 200 bucks will net you a little bit more than 200g, which isn’t enough to buy dusk or dawn at this point.
now I am sure some people can shell out 300+ usd on a precusor weapon, but those are the minorities… Once those guys raise the price of the weapons and bought it, normal people would not be able to buy the weapons assuming what the OP said was true. Then the supply and demand rule would kick in and the price of the weapons will go down.
the problem is it isn’t going down right now because a lot of people has the ability to make gold from trading or farming in a legit way. Therefore, the price of the weapons, which is driven by ALL the servers in gw2, has not hit the plateau yet.
This is completely different from what the OP claim. He was accusing that ONLY people who buy golds can afford the weapons and normal people would not be able to afford the weapons.
You should really check again. At the current spam prices, the price of gold is about half of what you’re saying. 50c/1g or $5/10g.
Lets say you make about $10/hr at your job. At the price of $300 for the precursor weapon, this means you need to work a total of 30 hours to acquire $300.
Now, ask yourself this. Can you absolutely acquire a precursor if you spent your 30 hours in game instead? If the answer is “no” or “maybe” then your time is better spent working that $10/hr in order to purchase the precursor by cash. So no, people who shell out $300 are not the minority.
That said, the price of precursors will never hit a plateau, so long as the willingness to acquire them is there.
My alt, a Sylvari Mesmer.
Still trying to work out dye colors for armor, but I think its pretty decent for now.
Finally acquired T2 Cultural for my Sylvari Mesmer.
Decided to go with a color split between Heirloom dye and Black Cherry dye with some Burgundy Dye splashed here and there.

there is a competitive scene, but i can see how it would be very hard to get into if you don’t already know people. there’s a guild that highly competitive teams use for sync queuing tournaments against each other. we queue nightly into tournaments that usually include between 4 and 7 of the top teams in the game right now, and making it to the end in a tournament like that, where your round 1 matchup could be the 5th best team right now and if you make it past them you’re up against the 3rd best team etc., is an accomplishment.
just for reference my character on live is Creecher Zzzzzzzzzz[Win] (10 z’s, or use nurt.5401). if you have a serious team and want an invite to the Sync queue/scrim guild feel free to hit me up. i don’t think i have invite powers but i’ll see what i can do.
Posting to bump/support this post. Anyone who considers themselves part of a decent tPvP team and actually cares to play against good opponents should join Lack Of A Scrim Feature [SYNC] for synchronized tournament queues and whatnot. That said, I really wonder how many will actually rise to this challenge.
Elementalists are one of the higher skill cap classes to play. They are viable in both PvE and PvP. Infact, almost every high-level tPvP team rolls with at least one or even two elementalists.
Most of the “terrible things” you hear about any class can be attributed simply to bad players. If you are confident in your ability at this game then I suggest you continue your Ele as they are one of the more powerful classes in the right hands. If you think that your ele may end up in the wrong hands though, then I would suggest that you perhaps reroll another class.
At the moment, for tPvP anyway, all classes are represented pretty equally, with perhaps the most dominant class being the Guardian.
Seems like you want to check out Tarnished Coast, the unofficial RP server for activities like this.
don’t solo queue?
I was thinking about this, this morning. I am currently running a pistol/dagger condition build, the problem I have is I must stealth in order to pop my auto attack and stack the conditions. So if I am sat at a node while I am fight it will slowly change hands. I am not doing anything wrong by stealthing, just playing the build how it needs to be played, but losing the node as a result.
However I understand the need for some sort of protection due to skills like shadow refuge. Maybe a compromise of not being able to cap in stealth but being able to prevent a neutralize if you are in the area?
pick a better node defender.
I didn’t play for few days, and today i was in two tourneys. DCed so many times. Few times because endless loading screen after death, and many times because gw2.exe problem. Happened to my teammates also…
pretty much. Odd thing is it seems to be only getting worse as time goes on. I had 3 players on my team and 2 players on the opposing team get load-screen’ed in a tournament today. its really frustrating, because it makes for terrible matches.
Again as said before, they’re legendaries for a reason, and therefore not really in the realm of “attainable” for the really average casual player.

rendering issues have been plaguing GW2 WvW since forever, and have only gotten worse this past patch. While I’m sure there are plenty of technical reasons why these issues happen, I thought I’d bring up a suggestion on how to slightly help the current situation.
My suggestion is for a quick option to hide a majority of character models, and only show names.
Thiswas used very well in the game Aion, where pressing Shift+F12 would hide all the character models in except for your party members and your target. The only things that would appear on the screen would be many many names/ranks of opposing and allied players. This was mostly used to allow for lower-end PCs to be able to play around in the massive zergy world PvP, but I do think that this was a very well done solution to the problem.
While it may be slightly “immersion breaking,” as well as not a perfect solution to the current problem that we have in Guild Wars 2, mostly because this game is heavily based on skill animations, I do believe that the majority of WvW players would prefer to see a zerg of floating names, than nothing at all.
I do this all the time. Mostly regarding the topic about the atrocity that is the Guild Wars 2 PvE “End game.”
Because Anet banned 4,000+ players who did not even break the EULA at the time for kitten and giggles, not because they actually did deserving of such bans.
Maybe its just me, but I really think tournament videos are meaningless without VoIP voice overs.
Because most players are bad at games and will slow me down.
I don’t mind grouping, but those that I group with must at least be as efficient as I am.
I just usually play the elf-type race.
I’m not sure how the T2 armor dyes, but can you have multiple colors on the pants?
Perhaps instead of going for straight Midnight Ice, perhaps use Midnight Fire for areas around the red, and then Midnight ice for areas farther?
as has been stated before, they’re there on purpose. A similar thing is in the T3 Sylvari Medium male armor.
The best suggestion for you I can give is to play around with colors. There are some hues of colors that blend well with the “brown” Try something like a deep red perhaps.
Is there any other way of obtaining these skins? I thought I saw a greatsword on the trading post with the same icon, though I didn’t dare spend 5g+ on something that may or may not be what I’m looking for.
karma.
they probably aren’t exotics because Anet expected them to be similar to the cultural armors. For skins only.
I’ve found that instead of going for multiple distinct colors, (for example, black and red, or white and black) its easier to focus on one side of the color spectrum and use hues from there.
For example, if you want to have a nice "red"ish colored sylvari, perhaps going from Midnight Fire for the shade -> Midnight Rose for the mid-tone, and then Burgundy for the highlights.
Another example would be Midnight Ice → Shy Lilac → Deep Lilac.
Pic related, its my Sylvari Thief with Tier 2/3 Cultural dyed with this concept.

Shade of Midnight Sky, and highlighted with Midnight Fuscha.
I really l like how the colors work together.

Any dungeon is easy enough that you can get PUGs together and clear them without too much pain.
The problem is that the time/reward ratio for dungeons at the moment are completely whack, and not really worth doing.
I think it’s silly for all the QQ on here. All of you knew it was too easy, or you wouldn’t have been running it 24×7. There is a reason you didn’t chain run TA or any of the harder ones, because they are hard. Oh man they nerfed Yaks?kittennow I gotta find another way to get to 80 in 20 minutes.
This is not WOW, stop thinking it is, its not supposed to be simple, especially in the first month of its release. You shouldn’t be decked out in full end game gear 2 weeks after release, I’m glad they buffed this stuff, maybe people will learn how to play their classes instead of facerolling.
/tread imo
I was farming TA…
“1) Run the same exact chain over twice in a row
2) Complete multiple dungeons in 30 minutes or less each.”
Guys, get good at GW2. But please don’t get too good, or we will punish you.
Police State MMO of the year…
Reikou, you are saying that you can complete any Dungeon without death?
If so, please, troll somewhere else.
If you are NOT saying that, you did not read OP post, so troll somewhere else again
Perhaps not on the first try, but I can definitely figure out how to beat almost any dungeon with a random pug pretty easily.
Going 2-3 rounds, its pretty easy to get it down to having no deaths.
If all casual players are also bad players, then yes, it would be impossible for casual players.
And if they’re impossible for you and your friends because of lack of ability in this game, well, don’t do them. There’s plenty of other things to do in GW2 for those not so able at the game. That, or really just L2P.

Twilight Arbor “Up” path is doable in 20’ish minutes with a good group, rewards are the same.
You do the math.

I’m not 100% sure if this is a bug or not, however I would just like to confirm this with anet staff.
I am talking about Knight’s prefix crafted gear.
As of right now, in PvE, they have a stat spread of Power/Precision/Toughness.
However, in sPvP, the Knight’s Amulet has a stat spread of Power/Precision/Vitality.
I am just wondering if the change to the PvE version was intentional or not, and if not, report it as a pretty large bug thoughout alot of PvE gear.
Thank you.
Whenever I get invited to, and attempt to join a guild, I keep getting a “Network Error 3040:1002:3:1930:101”
This error occurs any guild invite I receive, from many different guilds.
I would very much appreciate help with this problem.
