Isn’t changing the PvP meta the main reason they’re doing a balance patch in the first place?

Originally they were going to limit how much boons and conditions stacked at 5 in this patch. Which could be helpful as the 25 stacks of vulnerability and bleeding are not pleasant. But this seems to have fallen off their radar. Maybe it was too big a change.

Either way. The Dev’s need to reign this really skillless meta in.

If they change pv without changing the absurd rate at which conditions can be added its not going to be fun.

I felt that the OP’s post was well thought out and doable.

A shop would be great. Buy skins that can be used anywhere with your glory. The random chest of crap is awful incentive.

Please set hotjoin stanard mode as 6v6 or something. It is incredibly zergy in 8v8 and 10 v10 is practically unplayable.

seriously there have been countless threads about it, its beyond ridiculous that they havent been fixed asap 3 days after putting them in and its just dramatic.. i mean SAD AS HELL that we have to put up with that kitten, what, like 2 months now? The responsible people are just clueless beyond limits or they dont play the game at all, i dont know…

i mean, i usually dodge, and if i cant dodge, i usually use stability, and if i cant use stability, i take the confusion, and when i take the confusion, i usually remove it, and if i cant remove it, i kite and dont spam my skills like a mindless donkey and they go to forums to rage about it.

All the while other dots tick off you and you slowly die. Enjoy.

The big issue is that no rune should replace a skill or enhance a skill so much. CC skills are pretty powerful. Interrupts are pretty powerful form of CC as some classes have tons and most have an initial damage to them. Now add a secondary damage to them and they become OP. End of story.

Please give runes a 60sec cd.

If you think shouts are going to be bad after this patch

You are completely and 150% wrong

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. For majority of the game PoV has removed one, as I said before it’s only a slight nerf and just phases out one build completely (which isn’t that good to begin with) and removes some optionals for others.

Does that mean it should be fixed? No, it’s good the way it is, it’s balanced and gives Guardians a lot of options. Does that mean it will be bad when it is fixed? NO

So please stop the complaining because the bug changing it to two is only like 2 or 3 months old.

We are 250% right. Condition meta sucks.

Guild Wars 2

A game with a Casual difficulty level. Most of the game is trash mobs.

But introduces a hardcore grind for its latest tier of rewards. Ascended weapons are the biggest grind I have ever seen.

Who is this game aimed at then? The casual player doesn’t want to grind for the Ascended rewards. The hard core player finds the combat (the core of the game) trivial and unexciting.

It appeals to no group in particular.

First of all, what’s hardcore? I’ve always considered RuneScape to be a ‘hardcore’ game because of how hardcore you needed to be patient to get anything of value in that game. Nothing was actually difficult. You need to define hardcore.

I am not going to define commonly understood terms so you can be pedantic.

If every class had the Medium health they would be easier to balance. The current state of some classes being extremely low and others extrememly high makes numerically balalncing all their skills mathematically over complicated.

I love gw1 but they better not add heros/henchmen. Killed all grouping in gw1

And this is the problem of "everything you love about Guild Wars 1. Here’s a Guild Wars 1 player who doesn’t want heroes and henchmen, yet we’ve seen people on this forum who loved having access to heroes and henchmen and have asked for them to be brought into the game.

There isn’t just one type of Guild Wars 1 fan..there are many and they don’t all necessarily want the same things.

When I ask people to tell me what they loved about GW1 it usually the awesome classes, the awesome skills and builds they used, the awesome times pvping, the builds they used to beat certain dungeons and get rewards they were proud of. WHERE THE kitten IS ANY OF THAT? All I got on my PC is WOW jr with an Aion grind and dodging.

You guys are hilarious. Buffing only one set of skills so that this is all you use isn’t what Anet wants to do. They want you to mix it up and that’s why they will fix this and buff Consecrations.

Consecrations suck. And will suck after the patch. And the traits that buff them are in an even suckier tree. Any skill that can not be casted every 20-30 seconds and is limited to a spot on the ground is useless in anything but pve.

J sharp is the master of making sucky skills and making good skills suckier is not going to change that.

Transferring servers is big money for them. Thus they invented Leagues and introduced Bloodlust to sell more gems as people would be desperate to get out of a bad situation.

A lot of WvWers also bought gems to buy siege, food, bomb finishers and transmute stones. They are on average just as profitable as PVE players.

Eff that. Symbol majors are fine in valor. It synergises so well with altruistic healing.

Well why would I want symbols healing allies in a trait line with power? They work so well in the line they are in. Also there is only really one symbol that pumps out a ton of damage and that’s Symbol of wrath. Symbol of protection if you get it off is pretty good

haha, we were just having fun because you said you wanted to keep traits in Valor when traits are actually in Honor…

But the reason you want them in Zeal is because Zeal minor traits all concern symbols. So that provides synergy to have symbol traits in 1 line instead of 2. Another reason to move them to Zeal is because symbols scale with power.

Ahhh I am thinking of it from a support perspective. As a bunker I don’t really care if my symbols do more damage or cause vulnerability. I do care if they heal allies and if they are bigger…. Maybe lasting longer or even symbols are larger could be moved… But healing of allies should stay in Honor. And sorry for the mix up…. MAH BAD!

Yeah that’s certainly valid. But the fact that they offer both damage and support is why they’d be perfect for Zeal. It’s an offense-oriented line and Symbols provide that little bit of defense that give Guardians balance.

Instead of moving symbols to zeal, I would remove all symbol traits from the zeal tree and merge them into the honor tree. I would then create all new minor traits for the zeal tree.

This makes more sense.

You could combine,
Larger and Longer Lasting
Healing and More Damage

For a start.

I’d get full pvt and a knight’s helm. And buy the couple of runes you need or go with ruby orbs.

If you are doing something for rp -scratches head- then the Melandru temple is the best of the worst with only one piece that has condition damage and one that has healing. And the runes are pretty good.

There is an absurd amount of crowd control in this game. Guardians have stability. Rolling one means you get some relief from bieng stunned, knocked down, dazed, slowed, immobilised… usualy all at the same time. Its no wonder people roll one. Without them WvW would be unplayable.

Well, you’re asking for two separate things. If you want to use a mace/shield combo, you’re going to have to use a tanky build. If you want to use a greatsword, you might as well go full glass cannon if that’s all you’re going to be doing.

This is the build that I’m currently using. It utilizes the healing capabilities and boon duration that the Guardian comes with. http://www.gw2db.com/skill-builds/2287-dungeon-tank-healing-support-shouter

For WvW however, you will need to use another build. I suggest a berserker type build. Something like this. http://www.gw2db.com/skill-builds/263-shadow-knight-zanede

Though that build lacks the capabilities to heal yourself efficiently, it makes up for it by utilizing boons and really shows how good the Guardian’s Dps can actually be.

Im kinda liking this build you got set out here, what gear are you using (mace/shield, armor ?) .Primarily what i need this build for is dungeon running and some wvw but all of you are telling me there isnt a build that is balanced for both. What i want this build to have is primarily a shield. B

Cleric armor and runes as well as cleric trinkets. It really gives a boost to healing. If you find that you need more boon duration, you can always use runes that give you extra boon duration.

In the one build, if your primary weapon is Mace isn’t Writ of the Mericful redundant. Might be better with longer lasting symbols or something.

though argubly, shield doesn’t have AS large a place in PvE (best use i’ve found was in projectile heavy dungeons) but even then, you can use utilities to better help out and still have other weapon skills. : )) just my views.

Its great if you want to solo champions as you can keep protection up 100%. I’ve solo’d some of the Frostgorge champs when I was bored and stuck in overflow. Took forever but they couldn’t really hurt me much.

I used it a bit in WvW and Spvp but got bored with it after a while.

if it takes as much effort as it takes for a weapon per piece… forget it, i won’t even try because it won’t just take you a ridiculous amount of time (what am i building a house irl? wtf is supposed to take 12 weeks in a video game?) but knowing how omega fugly the armor looks, no thanks, take your ugly armor and gtfo.

Your one person. We have a guy in our guild who loves the game to death. He is a super guy, plays 24/7. He has 6 legendaries. He has like a billion a hievement points. He will never leave. He is only one person. The other 20 guys who go into TS (like most guilds we have hundreds of members but only 20 I would count as serious players) are mostly not having fun any more. Anet needs to ask why. Or listen.

Grind Wars

Sadly Anet you have seriously lost your way.

Ascended actually gives a big boost to stats. Go and use a calculator and you can see how trinkets and weapon make you about 10-20% stronger. Throw armor into the mix and its going to be worse.

The Ascended Weapon is the biggest and worst crafting grind I have ever experienced. It would take you over a month 1.5-2h a day just to gather the wood and ore. I have had a 2 week holiday and gathered 2+ hours every day and I am about half way there.

I don’t think that this sort of grinding was in the manifesto and I am over it. Its made me hate the game in a rather short period of time. I am not going through it again. It’s not Guild Wars anymore. Guild Wars was supposed to be about fun. This is about grind.

The mace is a hilarious troll weapon.

Try 0/0/20/30/20.
Basically valor the mace feat. Honor larger symbols, lower cd shouts, pure voice. Virtue absolute resolution.
Runes- monk/water/traveller
Sigils -accuracy, energy
Gear clerics trinkets, pvt armor, precision food, weapons cleric

This is very tanky. You will have healing and protection basically non-stop.

You hit like a noodle though.

for SPVP, you guys show your rank (low) when you talk about Guardians being bad, or needing buffs?

Every team in every tournament since this game has started contained a guardian.

Guardians are borderline OP, the only reason people don’t complain is because they don’t deal huge damage, that is it. Done.

I don’t main a guardian…but am not bad enough to say they need a buff.

Who needs a buff? How about the class that had a 0% showing during the last tournament…ele.

no eles were harmed in this tournament

I don’t think anyone is denying Bunker Guardians in SPVP are fine.

But what about other playstyles?

I have found a lot of hybrid builds that worked at release and even 6 months ago now rendered useless because of conditions. These builds were a hell of a lot more fun than a Bunker. Aren’t games supposed to be fun?

Do ele’s have issues. I dunno. I don’t play one. How can I comment on a class I don’t have 100+ games in Spvp or 50+ ranks in WvW on.Their forum is elsewhere.

Yep the condition meta definitely is bad. Not just for Guardians but for anyone not running a condition build.

Throw in perplexity runes and pvp can be a total crapfest.

As much as every build on a Guardian “works.”?

I can make a tanky warrior build and still apply damage via some of the really powerful 10 pt abilities. If I make a similarly tanky guardian, your damage is such that you can not hurt through the Warriors signet heal. So I would say things are not equal.

I can make a really offensive warrior build and truck around at 20k + health and nearly 3k armor. A similalry offensive guardian is the squishiest class in the game. So I would say things are not equal again.

In the current meta I feel we have much fewer workable builds. I have to spec pretty far into co dition removal, which again limits my builds considerably.

The warrior can do all the things people are currently saying would be op for guardian to do. Which I find pretty funny.

You should probably quit because your hands are broken. You will have a disadvantage.

Whatever. I’d like to see some more offense on our tanky builds and a bit more defense on our offensive builds. But if you are happy with the couple existing builds for our class then enjoy.

Spvp yielded xp it would have been much more popular. Suggestion would be xp scrolls you can buy with glory.

If it had a skin shop where you could buy skins that you can also apply one time only in the main game it would attract more players.

Basically, the way its set up it delivers very little satisfaction to players. Most do their daily and log. The spvp community is not really attracting new players.

Gw2 pvp, for whatever reason, is not fun. Particularly in Hotjoin.

I actually quite like conquest mode in most games but noone I know enjoys the spvp at all.

The Dev’s need to address why this game mode is not fun.

Things that seem broken
- too many people on a hotjoin map
- too many aoe skills
-too many aoe CC
-too many CC abilities per character
-really poor itemisation for hybrid builds
-too many pets… wayyy too many
-too many classes with easy access to invisibility

The game had so much potential but is let down by too many irritations.

Unless your average player enjoys this mode of play it will never be an esport.

Atm Ascended weapons are just a way to sell gems and nothing more. Beyond farming till you are delerious, there is no way to make a single weapon in the 2 week period they suggested as the norm.

I feel like I am playing Farmville atm.

If they bring in Ascended armor. Make it purchasable with Badges. 400-500 badges for a piece. Its too many pieces to grind parts of the game you hate for.

No. They promote build diversity. Some builds wouldn’t be viable without it. You really want to limit the number of builds that people use even more?

It takes about 3 seconds to get that many confusions built up. Have you seen the videos? And its not like the interrupts require any skill, like positioning, many are ranged spam.

Thr whole condition meta needs to be looked at. As it is high reward for little risk or skill.

Are you blaming the food for the rune effects or is this like a side discussion? The runes need a nerf I 100% agree. The 40% food is fine though. It has a 100% counter any time you feel like using it.

It also takes more than 3 seconds… but it’s still OP as all kitten.

I guess I just feel they have to revisit Conditions on the whole. If removing the food offered a little temporary relief, maybe that might be a way to go till it can really be looked at.

Anet is really missing the opportunity here.

One of the big problems with WvW is burn out. If WvW ended on tuesday and there was a little break where people could focus on smaller and shorter duration pvp, it might improve the longevity tremendously.

They could make an Spvp area for GvG quite easily. You could have Deathmatch, Capture the Flag even a larger scale WvWvW type area (imagine EB without stonemist, maybe ruins with objectives in the middle). You could set it for number of points to win and # of people.

They need to support the community rather than interfere.
