From the reps comment it sounds like ArenaNet have the policy of highlighting all characters in the area, regardless of who they are and what theyre doing, and issuing a blanket ban. Then they deal with the aftermath.
It is a terrible way to deal with this problem, and they really need to change their procedures.
Many people got suspended for no reason.
No they didnt. There is always a reason. But as i said before, people fail to follow the procedures in place to rectify the situation.
Ok. first there was no reason to submit 3 tickets. You just make your issue take longer to rectify.
Second, if your ticket went unanswered for more than 3 days, post in the stickied thread so it can be escalated as a priority.
Arenanet have procedures in place to help those who have serious issues like this. Unfortunatley, people fail to follow those procedures, or think they can skip around them.
YOU may think it is, but support says differently. If you have submitted a ticket, and still have issues, you need to update your ticket to keep in touch with them.
If you go through a period of 3+ days without a response, then post in the stickied thread.
If you havent submitted a ticket, then you need to do so asap.
Theres nothing at all that can be done via the forum. You NEED to go through the support system.
(edited by Renegadeimp.8439)
If you have submitted a ticket, wait for a reply. If you dont get one within 3 days, post in the stickied thread. Theres no point posting a new thread for the issue as they wont look into it.

So, any chance of Gaile coming back to the thread in order to clarify exactly what she was saying? Because the comment she made leads us to believe that if we are in the vicinity of bots, regardless of what we are doing, we will be banned due to customer service not doing their jobs correctly.
Post in the stickied thread for tickets older than 3 days without resolution.
Thats a pretty big problem with their system right now.
Submit a ticket to support and if possible provide the reciept that you would have been emailed upon purchase from the store. If it can be verified, they can grant your account.

You need to submit a ticket to support and see what they say. Thats the only recourse you have available to you right now.

“I personally avoid “bot hot spots” because (1) bots irritate me and (2) there probably is a slightly greater chance that one could be caught in a sweep.”
So, you’re suggesting we avoid the best farming spots in the game, because we might get banned for botting? That’s really, really sad.
Exactly my point. I’m just waiting for gaile to elaborate on that a little. If she actually meant it as she said it and it wasnt miscommunicated to us, then its a very sad case and could lead to the demise of the game.

(2) there probably is a slightly greater chance that one could be caught in a sweep
So in essence, what you are saying is your support team are not doing their jobs correctly? Even though YOU and other moderators have specifically said each case is investigated individually?

Theyve said that name changes will be available by the gem store. But no ETA on it.
Yes. For any ingame issues, use the support ticket system.
maybe the real problem is what anet is using to target boters… if we had any information to their baning process then it would be easier to avoid illegal activities.
And it would also be much easier to evade those processes, which is he exact reason why they and every other MMO doesnt give out information.
If PvP meant something i.e. you got some reward from winning that was worth keeping I would play a lot. But no tangible rewards means no reason to play.
You dont need rewards to participate in something. Theres this little thing called fun.
YA WHEN IT IS ACTUALLY FUN!!!!! which most the time its just a grind, and this is an MMO!!!!!!!! Which means there need to be rewards attached to doing content that is how they work.
LOL, for real dude…………..Maybe I am the odd one out on this but I find rewards fun! It’s all random and meaningless without rewards.
maybe, but it really looks like youv ebeen brought up to EXPECT rewards for doing something. This is a terrible attitude to have and not just in video games.
Its just your ISP flagging you as in a different state. Your ISP can route you through any number of exchanges. The major ones are the ones that are used to determine your location.
I live in North East Wales in the UK, but my ISP still flags me as logging on in london. A good 200+ miles away. This is due to the way my ISP handles my info.
Go ingame and try to find all the players that actually make the cap “full”, or “high”. It seems to be the total number of characters per server or in that servers database, rather than the amount of people actually online at any given time.
The game has no sub. Why not just log in and check it out for yourself.
If you go for an i5, do not go for anything less than a 2500
It’s windows 8 doing the garbage that earned it a low rating.
Switch all that junk off, or at the very least lower the tolerances for it.
Change that, it would be lucky to run on medium. That CPU is VERY low rated. If you could switch it for a better one, you shouldnt run into many issues with this game.
Try and see if you can get a semi good i3 CPU. Those dont cost much but put out much more power than the CPU you are thinking of getting. Something like a 2105 should do ok.
The system is ‘decent’ for mid range graphics . However, you may struggle in built up areas as your CPU is pretty low rated.

If your ticket has been in the queue with no response for MORE than 3 days, post in the stickied thread.
Make sure to scan your computer thoroughly or better still, format your machine before you change any log in info.

The first image is very grainy. You need to change some settings.
Awesome reply on the botting issue!
10k bots banned last week is a great track record, keep it up
Honestly, there is botting in every game out there, and especially MMOs – and Arenanet definitely does more to fight botters than Blizzard.
Thats not what ArenaNet said at all. They said in the last FEW weeks. Completely different.
If PvP meant something i.e. you got some reward from winning that was worth keeping I would play a lot. But no tangible rewards means no reason to play.
You dont need rewards to participate in something. Theres this little thing called fun.
Since the game has no actual subs and Anet have reduced the population cap on the servers, theres no real rush or reason for people to play 24/7.
An example would be wow, where since there is still a subscription fee, people feel that they must play the game every day to make the most of that fee.
No fee = no rush or no feeling to play as much.
I don’t know what’s worse. The fact that gamespy, as usual, are exaggerating everything to try and get hits on their very bad website, or the fact the OP was infracted for posting a thread criticising the game.
He will still need to file a formal dispute with both parties. Paypal are well known for ignoring law and hoping people forget. Thats why you need to issue a complaint with Anet as well, so they can force paypal to do something.
File a dispute with paypal, and also with Arenanet.
You have to wait for the server to switch from ‘Full’ status ( normally during offpeak hours), or get them to transfer to a low pop server. Apart from that, there is no other way.
I know but it takes too long. It should be done before they released GW2.
Tons of things should have been done before launch, but they weren’t completed. We have to deal with what we have, not what we could have had.
They are working on a system to help you with that kind of issue. However it wont be a character restoration. It will be account wide, so the entire account will be rolled back.

There was a post a while ago by an ArenaNet representative that stated that they will not be allowing people to stay logged in to the forums for security reasons.

If your account was blocked for 70 something hours, then that means you broke a condition of the contract you signed when you logged in. Once this timer expires, you will be given access to the game again. You dont need to make multiple support tickets and clog up the queue.

Did you submit a ticket? Thats the only way to get help with these issues.
The german Rep is wrong. It doesnt modify anything in the game. All it does is enhance the directx gfx using its own directx runtime.
You could argue that shockpoint, but again, the only recompense that you would be even remotely be allowed, would be a gem restoration. Even then, it is very doubtful it would be restored as the GM’s dont have the system in place yet to authorise this.
As for items failed to deliver, you’re wrong. The items, in your own words, were delivered to your inventory. They vanished to due a suspected bug.
Change your password to the game and email from a seperate computer/network. Not your current one. Then before you log in to the game or forums, do multiple DEEP scans using a few high rated anti virus and malware scanners.

Going off some official posts here, once the chargeback has been made, and granted, there is no way to restore the account.
You can ask support and post in the stickied thread if you dont get a response in 3 days, but dont get your hopes up too high.

They already gave a few days heads up about it. The onus is on the player to check for official announcements.
IP bans are 100% useless in every way. SImply because proxies are easy to use, and it is very very easy to spoof IP and MAC addresses. Especially when large amounts of money is involved, such as in RMT.
lets not jump into guessing games. Wait for the reply from ArenaNet to find out the exact reason. You could have been compromised, but the farmer might simply have been “testing” the account. This alone is enough to trip most games security measures.
If you are innocent, Support can help you regain control of your account.

To get your info removed completely from ArenaNets databases, you have to send them a specific request.
Blizzard does the same. I fyou want your personal data removed, which is your legal right under EU or US law, then you have to send in a specific request which they must adhere to. Be aware, that this removes any and all info about you, including any account info.
Arent goodbye threads against message board TOS?
Blatant ones like this are. If it offers a viable discussion, it is normally left alive until the Forum staff think it has served it’s purpose.

Just because you havent detected a compromise, doesnt mean there isnt one.
Take Blizzard for example, they have tens of thousands of case studies to fall back on when they think that an email is compromised or is in the first throws of begin compromised. This is more than likely what is happening here, and ArenaNet is playing it safe which is the absolute best course of action for them. They are being proactive, instead of reactive.
My initial reply to you still stands. You talk about federal crimes, however, there is NOTHING that can be done if you report them. The culprits are outside your countries jurisdiction. However, should you report them, as your initial post alludes, it would be YOU that would be in serious trouble.
Before you reply, scan all 3 machines with multiple, high rated anti virus and malware software to make doubly sure there is nothing on there.
Simply running a fast scan using a random program achieves absolutely nothing as does continually trying to push the blame elsewhere.
Anet has detected a compromise or a compromise that is about to occur and is requesting you do something to secure your side of the account.
I hope you manage to sort out the problems you are experiencing, i really do, but you MUST accept some blame and get those scans done, and change all passwords from a system that isnt compromised. Preferably one you have not used before.

To add to my previous post, you dont have to have had a virus/malware on your current machine. It could have been on ANY machine you have used, and logged into your email/GW2 website on.
