You can make a character or transfer your existing ones to any server that is not marked as full. If you log on in off peak times, youll see that your destination server is usually set to medium or high.

I know of a few people that have done just that, i order to beat the system.

Make your character on another server for now, then when the other server isnt marked as full, go to the server select screen, use a free transfer, log out and wait a few mins, and it should be ok.

I've been watching someone play on my account all day, pathetic.

Theyre working on more back end features, so chances are that they will be able to help soon.

Just remember, support will never had all teh features of other MMO’s, simply because of the "F2P mentality " that ArenaNet are trying to convey.

Items cannot be reimbursed as the support staff do not have the ability to restore or generate items.

They will be able to restore things soon, however it will be on an account basis, and only for account compromise situations. This means that if items are stolen or deleted, the entire account will be rolled back to a previous save point. Similar to D3 and GW1. Any progress after this save point will be wiped, inclduing all new characters, items etc.

It means either you got compromised again, or someone tried to log in, but the system locked the account to be safe. You should have gotten an email about it.

ArenaNet has always said, if it automates gameplay, meaning that you walk away from the computer and your character is going around killing stuff, or standing in one spot etc, then its not allowed.

You had your account compromised by a gold farmer. You need to check your email and computer and secure it, THEN contact support and ask them for the account back.

If you ask for it before you sort your system out, youll just get compromised again.

The website up until very recently allowed you to change your email at will as long as you were logged into the site. ArenaNet saw that it was a vulnerability and disabled it.

There hasnt been any word from Arenasoft about it yet. Theyre probably working on the technicalities of it, and if it gives a player an unfair advantage over others.

Just because a lot of people use it, doesnt make it legitimate to use.

It’s meant to be a smart IP verification, similar to wow.

However, people have said that when they were compromised, they never recieved emails. This is due to the email itself being compromised and the gold farmer deleting the email.

Youre friend is wrong. The support staff do not have the feature to restore items. However, it is coming soon, but on an account basis.

This means that should you have one character thats stripped, or lost gold, they have to roll back the entire account, so any progress after the save point that they restore, will be wiped.

The system is working fine. You need to submit a ticket and be patient. Theyve already said that queue times are long atm, due to the huge amount of tickets in the system about various things.

Each ticket has to be investigated and answered. Theyll get to your ticket, just be patient. If its longer than 5 days, then create a new thread or post in the stickied thread.

Be aware that you could still be getting compromised. If you didnt have any IP emails, that could mean that someone has access to your email, is authorising the login, then deleting the email.

Customer support for this game is very small and is unlikely to get bigger due to there being no sub fee as in other mmo’s in order to fund the department. They will get to your ticket, but you need to be patient.

You overlook one thing. Nobody compromises video game accounts using a brute force algorithm.

They ALL use keyloggers which record anything at all that is entered into the game client or launcher.

My bank for instance uses 2 passphrases, and asks you for 3 random letters out of both in order to access your account. Even at the physical branch.

They’ve acknowledged recently that passphrases are not secure enough that they are issuing every account holder of a standard account and above with a handheld device. To access your account, you need the physical debit card, slot it into the device, and enter the number generated from it into the online window.

This is simply another form of token keyfob, and another reason why most companies dont use passphrases any more.

They were set to one codebase. Go read up on it if you dont believe me. Thats why some distros had to be edited or use third party programs to make it run.

Add to this, the very simple fact that creating a FULL client for linux would not be financially viable, and you have the main reasons why the vast majority of devs wont have anything to do with it.

Because modern keyloggers can still get that text.

Gold sellers dont use “hacking software”. They simply use a keylogger which relays all info back to the host computer and inputs it into a database.

That database will probably have: Account name, Password, email. There can be multiple entries for password, email etc.

With your idea, they would simply have to add another field that says “random phrase”. When you click on the launcher, the keylogger activates and records everything entered into the login window. Even if you start hitting delete, to try and confuse it, it will simply record your keystrokes and give them to the gold seller.

The only reasonable ways to thwart an account compromisers attempts is to invest in better user system security, and have an authenticator.

Take wow for example. People though an authenticator made tehm immune to compromises, yet still blamed Blizzard when their credit cards and bank accounts were being fraudulently used. This was due to the keyloggers being set to record financial details as well as game details.

They have a limited support staff and tens of thousands of tickets in the queue. You need to be patient.

You’d also do well not to throw abuse at the people you are seeking help from. Namely the devs and support staff. Remember, it’s YOU that failed in your security to allow a hacker in. Not arenanet.

However, they are more than willing to get your account back for you minus the characters/items, you just need to be patient until they get to your ticket.

Yes they do. It’s the main reason why most developers dont go anywhere near linux. There needs to be a standard distro, which means a standard codebase in order for a developer to decide to dedicate resources to that platform.

Unless of course, you are saying that you know more than pretty much every games developer on the planet does.

You could still have a keylogger on your system. Most modern ones lie undetectable until they are activated.

Also, you need to run a variety of anti virus AND anti-malware scanners in order to be at least 99% sure.

As another very well known games developer said., Once the linux community decides on a standard distribution to focus on, then we will start developing games for it.

The problem with linux is that there are vast numbers of different distros in use. And it’s normally the people that know absolutely nothing about linux that are asking for games to be developed for that codebase.

You still need to check and not simply say " i formatted weeks ago."

Just because you havent had an issue with other mmo’s doesnt mean you wont with any other. You are saying the same thing everyone does when they get compromised for the first time.

You need to find out where the compromise happened, and its not on arenanets side. Otherwise EVERYONE would have their accounts accessed, and not a few thousand.

You cna blieve it or not, thats up to you, but the more you refuse to troubleshoot your own system, the more it will happen to you.

My security has lapsed? Right. When I clearly stated that both passwords for this game and my email account are different. Maybe you should learn to read properly and not make a fool of yorself.

How am i making a fool out of myself? Wheres your info about anti malware apps, anti-virus apps, checking that your email isnt compromised, perhaps a deep level reformat and reinstall to be sure you dont have any stray apps.

It’s you thats not making any sense. Not me.

Simply having different usernames and passwords isnt a guaranteed way to keep your accounts secure.

Anet hasnt gotten “hit”. Your own security has lapsed. If arenanet had been compromised, its pretty certain that out of 2 million + accounts, a couple of thousand at best were compromised.

What you are seeing now is no different than in any other MMO. Just because its happened to you is the reason it seems to be rampant. It even has it’s own name. Red car syndrome.

Usually early morning in your servers timezone is the best time to transfer.

Also, why would it be inconvienient for them to swap? Accounts are tied to one server. You have to initiate a server transfer ( which is free right now) in order to play on another server.

I had this same problem last night and had to submit a ticket for it. I got the confirmation email thanking me for my purchase, but no gems. When I checked the GW2 website/twitter/etc I saw the information that the shop has been down for maintenance.

That’s fine, but what’s not acceptable is allowing me to make a purchase and charging my credit card when the shop is incapable of delivering the merchandise immediately because it’s offline. Why even allow us to access it at all when it’s offline (and according to the updates it had been taken offline well before I made my purchase).

Give it time. The entire system that deals with that is offline right now, and they were having issues beforehand where it was taking several hours for the gems to come through the system.

Once its up, if youd ont have them within a few hours, file a ticket, or at worst, consider a chargeback.

Remember though, with a chargeback, they can suspend your account until its sorted. This is to stop fraud, and is a necessary feature.
