It is YOUR job to keep your email secure, not ArenaNets. Especially if, it was actually compromised and you don’t have adequate security procedures.
Also, why on earth are you keeping patients sensitive medical information in your personal email?
The authorities would be much more interested in that aspect, rather than how your email was initially compromised.

What does the message say when you try and log in.
assisting with gold or item sales for real-world money
That means one of two things.
1. Your account was compromised by a gold farmer ( unlikely, given your info)
2. Someone on your account has bought or sold gold. Since you shared the account with your brother, you need to see if he bought gold from any nefarious sites.
There is an outside chance of a mistaken ban, but the above 2 examples are the norm.
Regardless, you would need to submit a ticket to support to appeal the ban.
I got a 4 day suspension from the forums simply for asking for the correct email address to report a moderator who was giving out incorrect info.
I sent an email as i found it elsewhere, but heard no reply at all.
Theres nothing confirmed by a forum rep has stated that since it was in GW1, theres a high chance of it being in GW2.

You have nothing to put a ticket in for. They vote kicked you. The system needs a majority vote in order to act and thats what it got.
You wont get tokens, mainly because you didnt kill the final boss. If they did give it you, then it would be open to mass exploitation. People would drag a beginner through the dungeon, boot them out before the last boss and get a better player in. All involved would then get tokens.
Of course this is just one scenario, but i very very much doubt you will get anything as the system is working as it should.
You could of course, simply announce in general chat what occurred and for people to stay away from those plays and/or guild.
You can get the account back without a serial code. Your friend just needs to go through some verification procedures with support.
Pending charges can last for up to 5 working days, after which the bank normally fulfils the transaction or refunds the money back to your account if they havent heard anything else from the processing merchant.
Just remember, if the transaction shows as pending, then nobody has the money at the moment. It is simply being held by the bank until verification is sent by the merchant, or the statutory time elapses where they have to refund it.
Unfortunatley theres no option for that right now. I’ve had the same issue for a while, but i just decided to buy the game, and give the code to my friend.
No matter how much you rage/complain/yell at the support staff, the function to replace gear is just not there… yet.
When it does go live, it wont be a character rollback. It will only be an account wide rollback and only from the time the system goes live.
Take it as a lesson learned that you need to secure your computer/network better and start grinding the gear again.
That is of course, AFTER you have checked your system completely or performed a full reformat, THEN changed your passwords and got your account back.
Yep. Buy it from the GW2 site as you normally would, and pass the code you get in your email to your friend/relative.
Try logging on during offpeak times. I know that for blackgate the server is listed as High during these times and not full.

Just because youve known him for 5 years doesnt mean you KNOW him.
ArenaNet felt they had enough info on his account to issue a ban. It doesnt matter what your friend says to you, ArenaNet have much more info.
Ryoc, please read and post in the stickied thread at the top of this forum. It is there for the specific reason you are discussing. If tickets arent replied to in 3+ days, post there and a rep will investigate themselves.
Blocking IP’s is 100% useless and wont achieve anything.
The 72 hours is not too long at all. You got 72 hours suspension because of REPEATED violations of ArenaNets policy, therefore the punishment was fitting for the cause.
If you got 72 hours for the first, then yes, it would be too long, unless the name was extremely offensive.

As i said, they have already told you the situation and even gave you a place to post so they can investigate further. Spamming in multiple threads and ignoring advice given isnt the best course of action.
As i said before, i hope you get back ingame soon, but you really need to follow advice.

Ok. So youre ignoring what we say and what a rep has said. Good luck to you. I hope your issue gets resolved.
Renato, please stop cross posting in other threads. You were already given an answer to your issue by a rep. You can also post in the thread for non answered tickets.
You broke ArenaNets rules knowingly and willingly. Now for some reason, you are trying to justify it and blame THEM for something you WILLINGLY did.
You can appeal through a ticket or the email they gave you, but its unlikely it will be reversed.

The thing is you dont know what reason they had to suspend/ban the account. They replied to you stating that the appeals queue is lengthy and you need to wait.
NCsoft Account Support has many such appeals to process in a short amount of time. We are working as fast as we can.
If you are still anxious to know why, you can post in the stickied thread for tickets that are more than 3 days old. A rep will personally investigate your ticket then.
Also read: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Permanently-Banned-for-Modifying-or-Tampering-with-game/page/4#post425493 where a community rep replied specifically to your issue.

Lame answer renato? I suggest you reread the reply. They have stated that their appeals queue is lengthy right now and you need to wait. Your suspension was for a completely different reason than the problems this thread is addressing.
Your name is in obvious violating of the naming policy. Read the last part of your name.
However, did you get a suspension or a full ban, as they are two different things. A suspension will end after a set number of hours or days, upon which you will regain access and be forced to rename the character.
As you have a ticket in, its best to wait as the forums cannot be used to speed up response times.

That would fall under the part about YOU keeping the account secure. Remember, account security is primarily YOUR responsibility. Developers add security options as a customer service exercise. Not because they have to.
If your phone is stolen, then you can simply make a ticket to ArenaNet to allow them to deactivate the authenticator and lock the account until you get a new one.
Make sure to use multiple virus and malware scanners, and ensure you do a DEEP clean with system restore deactivated.
A lot of keyloggers hide in system restore so when the regular user restores their system, the keylogger comes right back.
@Ryoc, you need to post in the stickied thread for tickets that have been open longer than 3-4 days. A rep will personally check it out for you then.
Yep. Bottom left of your world map there are various options. Yours are probably unchecked.
Someone has your login details and have tried to login.
WHat you need to do is check for any keyloggers or other access to your email, as if you change your info or log into your email without doing so, if you do have a keylogger, you just gave them all your details.
The charge is probably pending and it will fall off or go through after 3-5 days. Wait another day or two and if the charge actually clears but doesnt register with Anet, then consider a ticket or a refund. Dont chargeback as they will lock your account.

Guys, PLEASE read the Community reps response before you post. They know about it and are working on a fix as a priority.

Posted by: Renegadeimp.8439
It’s YOUR fault the account isnt secure. Nobody elses.
As for restorations, you dont pay a sub for this game so you cant expect intricate customer support options. However, arenanet realise they need a retoration policy and are designing tools to allow account rollbacks, not simply a character one. This means that when the tools go live, any progress you make on the account past the save point the restoration will use, will be wiped.

Read the reps post guys. They are working on a fix for it.
It’s not bad. It’s your ISP simply reassigning the addresses. There are ways however of fooling your router and/or computer into believing it is a static IP. This is normally done through the router and you change your settings in your computers tcp/ip config to pull the address from the router instead of the actual line.

There also seems to be something you arent telling us. Support doesnt issue bans for no reason. I’m thinking that you or one of your friends bought gold then because you traded it around, support saw that as you trying to “muddy the waters” in regards to them tracking it and issued the ban.
Regardless, you would need to appeal in a ticket calmly and rationally and explain EXACTLY what happened, without going into hyperbole.

I very much doubt the support team abused you. Perhaps if you calmed down, and resent an appeal ticket in, you would have more luck.
Except battleping is completely different and your comparison is bad.

Did you submit a ticket?
No?
Thats why no action has been taken.
It can’t be a keylogger because I havn’t played the game in a very very long time and on this computer I only use it to play League of Legends, play guildwars and do my office work. My home computer is used for surfing everything else. Phishing mail is impossible as I havnt responded to anything like that and then theres fansite sharing info which is also impossible because my passwords are different from side to side.
Any recommendations on programs to scan my computer for malware, this is the only thing I can think of that would have caught me. I have a firewall and antivirus up at all times and regularly scan and check processes that are running to see if any malware is there or not. This can be a pretty serious issue if my computer is compromised as I have a lot of sensitive files for work on it.
And thats why people get compromised again. You could have had a keylogger weeks ago. You might have had one when you created your account, so they got it then.
Unless you have ran multiple DEEP scans using multiple scanners, you cannot say that you dont have a keylogger. Especially when keyloggers or phishing attempts are the most common ways of getting compromised.
Your account was compromised because they got your details.
This could be by keylogger, phishing mail, or a fansite sharing login info.
The ONLY people that are getting compromised are the ones who dont have good enough security on their computer, and dont practice safe browsing habits.
In regards to widespread or isolated incidents, you are experiencing “red car syndrome”.
Before you go changing any passwords, you need to find out how the account was compromised. If you dont, the gold farmers will strip your account again.
600 hours since launch is pretty casual actually.i usually play 16 hours a day,no job or school though.my mom doesnt mind as long as i take out the garbage and do laundry soemtimes
How can it be pretty casual when you just described it as pretty hardcore?
Always worth submitting a ticket, but afaik the feature that allows the GM’s to replace items isnt ingame yet. From the info we have though, the devs are going to be putting a timer on items you have bought, so you can sell it back and get the item you want. Similar to how it is in wow.
You need to find out how the compromise happened before you get the account restored or change your password.
Also, you can make a support account if you are locked out and create a ticket for the support reps to investigate.
Infractions seem to be completely random. However, the actual named Community reps give a decent reason why. I’ve been on the end of a couple myself. I was annoyed but it was my own fault.
What i dont understand is this unnamed “moderator”. This person, or persons, seems to be handing out infractions for almost no reason at all. I had 2 from them last week and even a 24 hour temp ban due to them completely misunderstanding my post. But im not that surprised really, since it was obvious by their grammar and the way they posted, that english was most definitley not their first language.
But honestly, the best way to ask about moderation is to email the address for it. It’s rare you get an answer, but at least you wont get an infraction for discussing moderator actions.
Ok. For soem reason, you asked for simple update instructions on a tight budget, and people are giving you high range specs and discussing the architecture of them. None of that is needed.
Onto your system.
The main thing you need to upgrade is the CPU. if you upgrade your GPU, its just going to be bottlenecked and you’ll barely notice any performance increase, although your graphics will look “smoother and shinier”.
This might mean that you would need to update your motherboard, and probably get different ram too.
Your 8800 is still a decent low / mid level card, even given its age, but again, its probably AGP, which, coupled with the CPU you have now will more than likely mean a complete new motherboard if you want to take advantage of PCI-E.
It can easily be done on your budget, you just need to hunt for motherboard bundles.
These bundles contain a CPU, heatsink & fan, semi decent motherboard, and usually 4-8 GB of cheap ram. Total cost of this is around $200-400 depending on the specs. This will leave you with around $100 for a semi decent GPU. But you need to remember, unless you go for a low rated ECO version or low profile version, you may need a new tower, as the modern GPU’s (6600’s + AMD and 560 Nvidia) are normally found as dual bay cards, which means you will need a little extra room in the tower. Especially so since the cards require their own power supply. But for the supply, you can get converters very cheaply which you can clip onto a spare ATC jack.
So in short:
Hunt for a good motherboard bundle ( not an i3 or an AMD tri core, or low rated quad core)
Use whatever money is left for a decent GPU, and possibly a new case.
Thats the best advice you can get for someone on a tight budget and with little knowledge of computer systems.
Oh forgot to add, the motherboard bundles usually come fully built, so all you have to do is clip them into your case, and wire up the case leads to it.
My opinion on upgrades woul;d be find a cheap i5 2500k bundle with 4-6Gb ram. These normally cost $250-300 max.
Grab a 560 ti, or a 6600/6800 ATI card. These vary pretty widly in price, but if you want the best bang for your budget , 560ti is the way to go, no contest.
If you do go for a 560ti, go for the Twin frozr III model. It;s a dual bay model, but iirc its only around £200. This means you should be left with around $50 or so if you want a new case. Or you can keep the one you have now, wait till you have another $50 and get a solid coolermaster case.
Word of warning. Be careful if you choose the i5 route. Some stores are selling them as a bundle, but with a higher rated motherboard, which you really dont need. These normally go for $370+ a bundle.

All bots/accounts are investigated individually first to see the actual circumstances surrounding them. They could be legitimate players using a bot, they could be gold farmers using them.
They all have to be investigated, so the support reps know whether to follow the bots to the main account that launders the money, or simply issue them with a flat ban if they are not a farmer.

Don’t take it the wrong way, but if youve dealt with hundreds of people that have had security issues, and heard some of the things they come up with, your explanation/reasoning/post can be made out, very easily that you know how the compromise happened, you just don’t want to admit guilt.
Again, don’t take it the wrong way, and i’m sure you are innocent, but it’s how that post comes off to someone that deals with things like this on a daily, if not hourly basis.
The game was designed to cater to everyone. Ramping up the difficulty would cause a mass exodus of players that like to sit back and enjoy the game.
Theres also a reason why MMO’s that have steep difficulty are very low populated.
