the problem is it still requires too much min maxing rather than actual player skill
Viper gear is mandatory , otherwise you might as well not even bother .
asura’s aoe weakness field is nice sometimes, sylvari’s 3s invulnerability+ turrets is great for thiefs
Norn’s racial elites are awesome bear form gives a long dash+ like 60k hp for me
leopard gives stealth + another huge dash for escaping
charrs have the iconic charrzooka wich is the most fun ranged weapon
im gonna make a charr just for the charrzooka now that i remembered it exists
i’d say remove achievement point leaderboards
and remove the cap , being restricted so players who rarely play can catch up is being unfairly punished
warrior’s run away build while annoying is ok because they have to build for it
now thief on the other hand are definetly broken, not only can stealth indefinetly but can also teleport/shadowstep without cooldowns as well as gaining superspeed while stealthed
seriously conditiopns were meant to be DoT Sustained damage lower damaging than direct damage but making up for it by ignoring defenses
now conditions outburst even burst skills
and everyone and their grandmothers is running this trash spam
you know you messed your DoTs up when even your assasin profession has to resort to using those as burst
and that is ignoring the fact that condi relies on one stat allowing for bunker builds with high DPS output or in some cases like necro thanks to their 50% crit shroud passive get both direct and condi damage as well as tons of health
we need a power armor elite :v
at least a better one than the asura racial elite
that would be too OP
However it does need a buff
and that would be for it to resume rezzing allies when interrupted instead of blowing up
as well as a general gyro buff of 50% damage reduction or 1600-1800 armor
honestly in the current state the only reasons i havent deleted my engineer is simply the fact my engi is because crafting isnt account bound
engineer sucks big time now and has been unjustly restricted behind the slogan of jack of all trades master of none
when all other professions not only are more versatile but have no penalty and are superior
yes you can play engi successfully but you can feel the diference in effort vs reward inmediatedly once you grab another profession

Lets be honest, no one at ANet plays Engineer. It was obvious the day they revamped the traits and cut it down to three lines while releasing Explosives in the state that its in. This was further revealed when HoT was ramping up to launch and we saw Engi as TBD for a bunch of its new things. Scrapper has gotten nothing but nerfs and it no longer fills the role they claimed it should, where is the control now ANet? You toned down the stun on hammer 5, removed daze on gyro, cut back on damage, heal and support on the other skills over time. What does Scrapper do thats interesting now?
Give up hope, they dont care about the state of Rifle, they dont even care about the state of Engineer as a whole. Look at the classes ANet actually cares about, Ele gets reworks constantly to traits and skills that are underutilized, DH and Druid get to keep their nonsense dazes even though they dont fit “Purity of Purpose” in the slightest for those classes.
GG ANet, your inability to iterate is on full display with Engineer, I cannot wait to see the next elite spec for Engi be just as kittencrapper and nerfed just as hard.

I recently spent 500 gems on transferring from an EU server to American. (I’m in Australia now – but when I bought the game was in the UK and had no trouble with loading times)
Since being in Australia the loading times have become insane – at least 52 seconds minimum. I have been in touch with support several times, checked my client, repaired it a few times and no errors and no noticiable difference, so finally they said to transfer server regions. So I purchased gems on Friday night and still no reduction in screen loading times.
Lame question – Is there a difference in buying and using an SSD card to using an external hard drive? I’m asking as I tried running GW2 from my ext hard drive and it made no difference so I am reluctant to try an SSD card and find no difference.

it should be faster than an external HDD but it might depend on the motherboard and the port used as well, if your system doesnt have even usb 3.0 minimum dont even bother

get an SSD, hybrid drives are nowhere as close to the performance , in terms or raw power my PC is not even 1/4th of yours and mine loads everything way fast simply because of an ssd
hybrid drives mainly use their SSD portion as cache so not good for gaming

Please,log in a competitive gamemode of your choice,PvP or WvW ,take a rifle engineer,try to do something.

I can understand 4 months,6 months, not 1 whole year and yet not a single mention to rifle in patch notes.I actually play hammer,but is 1 year i say to my self “don’t worry they will come out with something to at least make rifle barely viable in the next months” , but after all that time…come on!
Try every setup you can , old vanilla engineer,new scrapper , then take your utility like elixirs,gadgets,turrets,gyros,and try use the rifle coupled with every setup you want.
Do it for 24 hours,do it for 1 month,just try it and tell me if that weapon doesn’t URGE some attenction in a balance meeting.Is 1 year i play hammer and i say to my self “is just a matter of time,it’s not priority for them,so now or later they will fix it…after 4 months,after 6 months,after 8 months…they will fix it”.
It’s 1 whole year guys,1 year that engineer is “bunkered” in all his meanings into the hammer scrapper.

to be fair engi rifle has been dead for 2-3 years , even before hammer, engi meta was everything but rifle, 100nades,100mine, celestial ,turrets,nades,bomb point holder.
my point is we need to stop blaming hammer for engi’s short comming
because knowing our devs they would nerf the only thing making power engi competitive so it was on par with rifle

here’s the scalings:
Base Healing: 99 (0.033)
Healing for Each Boon: 11 (0.0033)
heals 3 times per spray so even if we tripled the scaling that’d be
0.099 in other words a worthless 9% scaling with healing power on the base heal
and 0.99 % heal per boon so even assuming your allies had 24/7 12 boons med kit’ heals are still useless
the singular heals are better but they are single heals, with no radius, have to be manually aimed
in other words useless for group support
it should be a field been saying this since ft was first reworked
this happens to me even on non downed skills , wich initially i thought it was due to being dazed in wvw but then i noticed it happening on pve as well

turrets and gyros are as staple as gadgets and kits
Rifle turret for the most part is ok if devs lowered its overcharge cooldown to 20s giving it 50% uptime
Turrets’s first problem so far is they do not have scaling stats and most importantly have No armor
so increasing health and giving them negative armor is not gonna do anything
so we should start by giving turrets 1700+ armor
probably replacing healing turret’s regen with Aoe healing pulses
giving flame turret proper burning remember burning damage got nerfed in order to allow it to stack , so it makes no sense whatsoever for flame turret to only apply 1 stack of burning and only with 2 seconds duration
give turrets 60% damage reduction vs condi or overall and scrap the idea of giving them armor
and either bring back turret regen , rifled barrels or make the bubble shield trait give turrets a bubble shield every 20 seconds or give the turrets buff trait better effect for example Thumper turret grants something like Iron hide while near it , flame gives 100 power or something while near it etc.

Sometimes I don’t even want to use it because I know it will lock me into a 1 second animation where I’m guaranteed to take damage + cc, and I’ll take more from that than from being immob’d and popping gear shield (RIP), then trying to dodge out.
Just sayin’.. if Rocket Boots had been designed for HoT, it’d break stun, grant might, evade the entire time, and bake me cupcakes.
It’s also barely faster than running if you include the stop at the end. It ought to help you catch up to a thief chaining shortbow teleports, or a druid using staff 3, or a nike warrior.. etc. I mean, I’m not sure if that’s its “purpose”, but if we’re thinking about buffs it should have (instead of damage), I think more distance + more speed would help.
they wont do this because of the stupid gadget overcharge trait giving rocket boots 1200 range , so at least they should remove the pause at the end , so it actually creates or closes gaps
Yo Anet if you dint want engineers to use gyros for detonations why make it a toggle also why make gyros have neither armor nor stat scaling? if you want players to keep gyros alive for their abilities Make them able to endure more than 2 seconds in actual combat , they are useless both in pve and pvp except for the bulwark gyro wich is still semi useless in pvp , maybe make gyros like pre nerf turrets, gyros only last a couple seconds anyway
how do ya guys deal with , Mesmers, DHs, Thieves.
Thieves if careless i get to smear on the floor but smart ones seem unkillable with the spamming of shadowsteps teleports and stealth , now there seems to be a hybrid condi and power build going on as well .
Mesmers are almost the same scenario as thief except theres non stop barrages of condi spamming clones after you while the mesmer runs and hides
DHs seem to heal 10k hp each second while dishing out instakill damage, with considerable CC and mobility .
I have played engi for 6000 hours , and I have been successful in all those previously mentioned proffessions+ ranger and necro in less than 80 hours each (I make a new character whenever i get 80 tomes) and they all seemed to barely even require any effort to play compared to engi
so how do you deal with em ?
Does anyone know if there was any leaks for the new elite spec for engi? like there was for some of the others?
I’m thinking we need a mh power weapon, to use with shield, it might be interesting to use. Like perhaps sword, or maybe mace, or something different. I mean, can you imagine running around with sword/shield on your engi, it would be so cool.

If they wanted purity of purpose. They should remove the damage from rocket boots, make the initial leap a leap finisher, the landing a blast finisher, and increase the base distance to 1200. Then after that increase the duration of the burning from the toolbelt skill and also give it a 1 second smoke field. That would make Rocket Boots useful.

I think what annoys me the most is the way they decide to nerf Engineer actually. Instead of nerfing certain numbers that may simply give the class a comparative advantage or disadvantage, they nerf features which totally destroy the synergy the class between its skills. The fact that the trait works well with the core skills and Scrapper skills makes the trait even more useful. Why would you complain that you don’t need scrapper to use dazes? I thought everyone was complaining that the Elite specs were too powerful and should be toned down so that the core specs could be more useful?
And before this patch we had 11 ways to put dazes, then. More than half got removed in a single sweep.
What are you going to do with 11 dazes anyway? 5 dazes are fine. We’ve got a ton of CC outside of Dazes as it stands anyway so complaining about this is just silly.
The reality is and the reality remains that when I decide to use Impact Savant and Expert Examination, I can get the full benefit from it. With core skills AND with the Scrapper skills.
Listen, I’m the guy who complains about the explosives line being a waste of space so if a trait is truly useless, I would be the first to back you up. I’m more inclined to agree with the guildabd that the trait should be merged with Impact Savant. It would improve it’s usefulness.
and what excactly are you going to achieve with those 5 dazes?
if you grab shield you have no dps
if you use shredder gyro for its daze you do nothing with it thus you wasted 1 uility slot

so I genuinely want to see how this game’s dev’s design meetings and such go.
they where the profession iconic thing, all professions have been reworked and greatly buffed,they have massive cooldowns , can only target one enemy at a time, get rid of the dumb bubble shield grandmaster and give turrets their regen and rifled barrels back, even pre nerf turrets where weak against power builds, the reason they seemed OP was because back then condi spam meta was starting and thus rabid gear was deemed useless against turrets (people could ve just used rampage, but hey better blame turrets). now theres carrion,dire and viper gear so condi builds clearly shouldnt struggle anymore against turrets, there’s no excuse

Elixirs good? Maybe in PvP, but in PvE they were always terrible. Tossing them is just unnecessarily clunky, aside from the weak effects, and even their effects on the engineer itself aren’t even good enough to warrant their use instead of some kit. Whatever is provided for personal use via HGH can just be given at the whole party by some other member, or via blast finishers on fire fields.
Sure, if you just have to camp a point and no one else can give you that might, they’re better than nothing. The rest of the game just doesn’t work like that, though.
elixirs rock in pve if you go for a perma quickness.might and fury build and 50-80% protection uptime , probably 90% with durability runes.
golden dumplings+ strength sigil
smack all the things
not so fun in pvp though , thanks to mesmers and necros eating boons (sometimes thief too)
players fart and breathe stability in pvp anyways so gyros daze was semi useless anyway
good for interrupting heals or stomps at times in those 3 gyro builds
You know what’s even more of a joke, the fact that this is what 3 month’s of balancing gives us. These could have easily been done in 1 month’s time, at least that would have given them an excuse.
A lot of those changes look like they were made few hours before actual patch.

meanwhile, engi was part of the cc spam problem and could thread about 5 different skills for total block/evasion/reflect time of nearly 20 secs.
now take daze off of dh traps too, anet. and druid has too much daze too. and prolly berserkers and chronos.
the complains was because engi got nothing but nerfs whereas others got teeny nerfs and decent buffs , ontop of the fact that our supposed change was supposed to be around making engineer better as overall support and dps
as it stands there is no reason for engineer to not have Heavy armor nor weaponswap
you guys have no vision on the profession , if engineer becomes a dps class you nerf it if it becomes tanky you nerf it , realize your game’s state is built where being a middleground profession does not work because professions are either split into being ridiculously tanky or ridiculously bursty ,stop trying to make engineer a middle ground profession if you are not willing to alter the other professions

engineer is barely a fun profession anymore because most of its kit is useless
turrets are useless gyros are useless asides from bulwark and stealth , gadgets are just about as useless asides from rocket boots, and the googles and probably 1 more i forgot
kits are all situational
all of our support abilities asides from healing turret have 240 radius or less whereas other professions have up to 600-1200 so even as support engineer is underwhelming
and that is without mentioning the med kit .

What in the blazing hell in any of the nerfs benefits engineer as a DPS role?
Everyone else got good CD reductions on actual abilities they use or flat out buffs
that’s 3 patches in a row where engi gets nerfed for no reason
only have one gpu and it hasnt been moved so if it was in a wrong slot it would ve broken down since the first time i tried playing the game i’d think and not after years of playing it , as well as other games would probably get similar problems but they all run just fine some even run at 150-200 FPS its only gw2
the problem is engi has to completely spec for each function heres another thing everyone overlooked you may be able to get mobility and cleanses or mobility and damage but how are you gonna deal damage without proper CC?
and that is why engi has gotten so unpopular engi cant just lockdown onto a target and burst them , so engi got reduced to trying to bunker as hard as possible
so is there anyway i can get a log of sorts from the game when i play? , so that way i could see whats wrong or Anet could see what is wrong with the game or system if i sent as evidence ?
because for some reason the game is dying at 4-7 FPS on lowest settings on a system wich ran it at 40-55 FPS at high settings (had my fps capped to 60 )
from an old crash log i found in the cache folder or appdata my system wasnt even using a third of its peak performance to run the game , so this is way annoying
sadly said log is useless as it is old data
