All I could think about during this episode was: “Am I reading too much into this?”

Let’s think about some facts.

During episode 1 and 2 , it was hinted that Mordremoth would possibly be making an attempt on the life of a very important person, perhaps a leader, as to hinder any opposition that may arise against him.

By entering Ommad’s machine and peering into the Eternal Alchemy, Ceara went mad and became Scarlet, a somewhat self-aware minion of Mordremoth.

Now, we, the PCs, have gone into the same gizmo and experienced a conscience-opening event. And right after that, we insist that every major leader of every major race needs to be informed of “the threat”

I propose that we have been inadvertently turned into one of Mordremoth’s minions (Possibly a Champion) and now are executing his will. I strongly believe he/it does not want to take out one of Tyria’s leader. He/It wants to take ALL of them out, and he just accomplished the feat of setting a place, a date and a time where they will all be together, and unsuspecting.

Sure, this all seemed to be the Pale Tree’s idea, but she was right in the middle of the vision; who’s to say she’s not on the “joke” as well? She certainly seems to be keeping several secrets from you, even when proposing the meeting.

Granted, someone else probably already made a theory or statement like this somewhere else in the forums. Possibly. The forums are big, whatever.

If so, sorry and you can delete.

Such a legendary crown is randomly spread out for whatever reason and all you did was checking the map for the next green star and search a pile of rubble.

Thank you Bobby. It takes some courage to come out and say that it could have been done better. Indeed!

Hopefully things like that are better conveyed in the near future

One thing… why is the interaction between everyone so lighthearted? So, so much! Literally, Kasmeer went from mourning for her “sister-in-law” to HAR HAR, your hair was standing in all directions from MAGICLOLZ.

Shouldn’t they be concerned that their “Boss” experienced something nobody understands, not even Asuras, in a machine that drove a character insane to the point of villainy? That it is connected to the biggest threat the world has seen in 10,000 years?

And they tease?

Bug in instances (PS/LS) w/ Sweet Revenge?

I don’t know if this has been posted before, and I’m sorry if it has.

When trait’ed with this on story instances, like Trouble in Fort Salma for instance, if you are downed and activate Vengeance, even if the enemy NPCs are level 80 and you manage to finish one off, you will not remove the debuff (Which will kill you in 30 seconds).

Is that intended?

I think the problem comes from the fact that most story enemies (Specially in the latest LS instances) do NOT give you any experience points, so the trait doesn’t apply.

This can get annoying, since basically your trait is worthless.

What really concerns me is the fact that the Zephyrite crash was shown in a video released by ANet, not in-game; the vine invasion of Prosperity and of Concordia was, again, shown on a YouTube trailer, and not in-game.

We’re just seeing the results or consequences after the facts. Is that going to be the same case for this? I mean, this is MAJOR. Lifting the curse from Ascalon is a game-changer. So, will it happen off-screen?

You got me lost at the “in our future (our current present)”. The year in which you see your evil self is 1325.
Ceara had already invented the steam creatures. She invented them before becoming Scarlet, which is before the Thaumanova event, which is before 1325.

You would think that our characters have no way of seeing health bars, attack names and AoE circles. Therefore, no name for the recently awoken threat.

You would think that finding out the name of one of the BIGGEST enemies the WHOLE WORLD has would be kind of a big deal. Considering that at some point in GW1, learning the name of the enemy of the Great Dwarf was a major plot point.

I think there was a leap in logic here, but ANet makes them from time to time.

It certainly would be interesting, BUT:

Charr have their technology
Asura have their magical advancement
Norn have their “Strength is ruler” approach
Sylvari have their Wyld Hunt motivation

If you take away their Gods, what’s there for Humans? That’s the point of being Human in the world of Tyria; their faith keeps them going. Humans (as a race, there may be some individuals that disagree) will never get impatient, because their Gods are what are keeping them from going into utter oblivion.

Thank you Bobby for posting here and asking for our opinion.

I hated Scarlet, for reasons that have been stated by many people, many times, in many different places. There are so many other things that are interesting from the world you helped create, in a more serious tone, that for the life of me, I cannot fathom why the writing team would purposefully focus on somethign so bland and child-like.

But I digress. Things like… the Human gods. There are some scrolls stating that they arrived from some other place, and Balthazar came through the portal “carrying his father’s severed head”. Huh? Why? How does that relate to Menzies? Isn’t there an interesting bit of lore?
Or Bahltek. Or Cantha. Or Elona. Or Jormag. Or… whatever, you probably know the story and lore a lot better than we players do!

[Scarlet] I’d rather see her do something truly shocking though, like nuke Ebonhawke.

Eerily, I considered this too, but not coming from Scarlet Briar.

What if a Tribune decided to call it quits with the armistice? He wants to have Charr succeed in finally eradicating the “human scum” from Ebonhawke. So, he secretly begins talks with the Charr Separatists, and hatches a scheme to take the fortress. Since security details are lower, because of the Truce, and gates are basically open, it would be relatively easy. First thing they need to do, of course, is sneak a team of 3-4 Ash Legion operatives and neutralize/gain control of the Asura gate. There wouldn’t be reinforcements.

Anyway, the point of this is: losing Ebonhawke to Charr Renegades would accomplish a few things:

  • Put even more pressure in the strenuous situation Humans currently live
  • Cause a schism in Charr relationship. The Tribune leading this could be Bhuer Goreblade, and that could lead to conflict with Rytlock
  • Representatives from all races should be slaughtered during the attack. Real losses. Familiar faces.
  • With Ebonhawke in the hands of some Charr, the Desert Gate could be open, leading to Kralkatorrik
  • Logan could team up, in friendly terms with Rytlock, to take the stronghold back. It was, after all, founded by his ancestor.

I dunno, I just woke up and I haven’t had my coffee yet.

Personal story. Meaning personal. Meaning MY story. Why do I then have to group with FOUR other people to complete MY story?

This aspect of the game has massively disappointed me since I came across it the other week. I don’t even want to bother with the personal stories of my other characters now, knowing I’m unlikely to be able to complete it without help, frustrating PUGs, or joining a different guild. As I’m not into dungeons (in fact I absolutely hate them and am sad they were even introduced into GW at all), I can’t see me ever fully completing a game that I otherwise adore

Please, give us loners, dungeon dislikers, and PUG haters a chance. Give as a afew henchies for the story mode dungeon?

You’d be better suited to a single-player RPG, then. Plenty of them are around and waiting for one so passionate as yourself. MMOs clearly aren’t for you if you hate contact and cooperation with other players.

…Secondly, how can you ‘adore’ a game if all it has done is ‘massively disappoint’ you? This relationship is getting strange very, very quickly.

It’s the way the game was marketed. I personally do NOT have any problem in grouping with people, I think it is fun. But when the devs make it so Dungeons are OPTIONAL to the story, and PS instances which can be soloed are the way to advance the plot, and in the end throw away those rules, it’s a problem.

I have a guild with very nice people. But most of them are not encourgaed by in game rewards to do Arah Story mode (Cause the dungeon is no even fun). Same goes for some paths in Dungeons. I’ve had CoF P2 sitting for way too long, but everytime I try, people are like “No, P1 is faster”.

The psychological frame to kill Zhaitan was right.

No, to me it wasn’t. This is a creature that is reanimating corpses, tampering with “unnatural” things. How’s that different from a Necromancer from GW1, you ask? At least, when a Necro raised a minion, it did not retain the appearance of the creature that served as the “base material”. Remember in GoA how Dougal Keane is EXTREMELY disturbed at Killeen re-animating the corpse of an Ebonhawk female soldier?

Tyrians are not properly freaked out by this during the PS in Arah. Mind me, not only there are Orrians dragging their feet through the territory, but also every fallen Pact Soldier should also start crawling with un-life. These are people you’ve known, eaten with, shared an ale with, who have fought side by side against that same corruption that just claimed them. And I’m not mentioning the abominations, creatures made of limbs and entrails from other corpses.

If anything, human characters should start questioning their beliefs! A creature that can bypass Grenth’s rules about the dead? Maybe Grenth is not as powerful as I thought! Maybe I need to reevaluate my faith… right?

I liked Killeen better than anyone in Destiny’s Edge.

Indeed[/quote]

The narrative in Edge of Destiny, around the middle of the book, felt a lot like a Megaman game; choose a boss, jump into their stage, kill, and get out. Next face in the selection screen. All of this, separated by impersonal letters with subtext from the Queen of Divinity’s Reach.

Do Charr really hate magic? That would negate Charr Elementalists (the most glaring example). No, to me, it has always been Charr hating the idea of worshiping a god, and the shackles that attitude may impose. Incidentaly in human lore, Gods gave magic to the races; thus, when Charr denied all gods, they turned a little from magic, deciding to go towards a more industrial culture.

As Konig pointed, that doesn’t mean they do not recognize the usefulness of magic.
