As for squishy builds in fractals, my personal experience is at 38/48 even full PVT get downed in a few hits so might as well go full glass cannon and kill the mobs before they kill us.

This is incorrect, but of course, must be the PvE meta thinking behind justifying the logic of using all zerker gear or going full glass cannon – kill first or be killed mentality. Accordingly, if you have PvE peeps/guardians running around in PVT gear and getting downed in a few hits, they need to either re-roll a new profession or L2P their current profession and build (and get some agony resistance to boot). I run full PVT in WvW and even getting focus-fired, do not go down in a “few hits.”

It is a set-up that can definitely work in WvW if grouped with other guardians. Mind you, it requires management but is doable. The guild I am in uses a spec like this but not all of our guardians use it.

I concur with you. If BG and SOR could work together especially in SEA time JQ would have some serious work to do. JQ SEA has never been 2v1 for the last 6 months due to the intense rivalry between BG and SOR.

One of the only way for BG and SOR to work together is for the server trolls (on both sides) to keep their peace for ~4-6 weeks. I think we’ll be surprised at what goodwill might result from that. I am highly skeptical it can happen however.

Lol! JQ is like the most bipolar server. One minute they’re double-teaming SoR with BG, next minute they’re double-teaming BG with SoR.

They are just taking advantage of the rivalry to win, which is completely fair. If BG and SoR teamed up, I have no doubt we could push them down to tier 2.

Personally, I like a lot about SoR, especially with respect to TW, IRON, and a few other SoR guilds, until their forum warriors come on here and spew. Anyhow, again personally, I would love to see more goodwill ventures between SoR and BG, would make that alleged “fun” EMP and others on JQ are having become a bit of real “fun” at their expense instead of either SoR’s or BG’s or both our expenses……

Do not be deluded into thinking that to have an effective necro power build for WvW that you have to have points in the power trait (spite). You definitely can have an effective necro power build without doing so. You simply need to determine your role in WvW – are you going to roam or small group or run with a zerg? My necro build is built/designed to be run with a zerg.

We do come out for fights when you run on your own and we have more than 15.

Right now we are running around with 18, trying to keep what we can with BG beeing outmanned in 3/4 maps. When you do form up that many that you cause skill lag we will port out of the map. Its not fun to play like that

Honest question though – same fights but on your Guardian. How do you think you would have done?

Using a build that can do 16-18k damage in 8 seconds (thats the bleed burst i can set up) i would have to go pretty much with an offensive build and my survivability wouldnt be even be near that.

The issue is that we are talking about a bunker build doing that type of damage and over 500 passive regen per sec while almost immune to cc and has tons of cc one being on the chain.

The scary part is that i do better on my warrior (maybe 100 hours gametime) compared to my guardian (well over 2000 hours) without knowing how to play warrior.

If i swap two utilities for banners i stil have stability, perma regen + passive and ofc two great aoe buffs from the banners.

its silly tbh but i will enjoy it while it last. I quit playing guardian in wvw, for me its almost dead as a melee stormtropper. I will do one last test with melandru runes to see if its doable but i dont have the gold or time atm.

I think you will find that Melandru runes will not make that much of a difference. Personally, I am sticking with Soldier runes for my frontline Guardian.

Side note – I’m still pondering how I got hit for 15,542 earlier this evening on my Guardian. I don’t recall a huge zerg and 3 of us engaged a group of 4. I’m at about 17k health in DPS gear (zerk/solider mix and about 2600 armor). I see my health bubble go BAM and I ran like a little school girl

I look at the logs and it was a Kill Shot I don’t think I’ve ever hit anyone even remotely that hard in WvW @ 80. Not even a up ticked player.

Zerked rifle warrior traited properly will do 14+K killshot all day long.
Reflective wall makes these guys go poof btw.

I’ve ran Hoelbrak + lemon + Purity/Gen Sigil + Healing Signet + Purity trat on my DPS build and it’s not enough w/ the amount of FOTM Engi’s and Condi Warriors out there.

Have you used Contemplation of Purity and/or Purging Flames coupled with the above? Also, do not use Save Yourself, it = instadeath in a heavy condi environment IF you do not immediately cleanse with either of the two I mentioned above.

Other than that, yeah, I agree that WvW has become a condi heavy environment and even with the the skills and soldier runes coupled with a condi removal build, it can still get really, really hairy out there for a Guardian in the current WvW condi-heavy environment of spike hammer Warriors and Guardians backed by condi ENGs and Necros zergs or small group.

Tonight another GvG (clearly 15v15) against IRON and MERC (Really 1v1) occurred…. in the form of punting wars.
It was an intense battle with MERC (Cuddles) pulling ahead… then of course cunning IRON (Shifty) decided to level it to 4:4….

Word. I actually had this happen to me last night. I wasn’t sure what I did or was thinking but I charged in and hit Save Yourself. I recall thinking to myself after.

Glad someone else admitted this, I always thought I was the only one that had this happen to. Do not get me wrong, I love Save Yourself but since the necro patch that revived the mass use of necro’s in WvW, especially, dude, Save Yourself without using a mass condition cleanser right afterwards is insta-death. As a frontliner in HB, I cannot afford to get arsewiped by that type shiznick.; hence, I have removed its use from my skill bar.

The way I see it, you have Leap of Faith and you also have the ability to slot and utilize Retreat when not in combat. likewise, you could slot a staff for added mobility when not in combat.

I have run two tank power builds that are frontline for leading zergs – both produce copious amounts of bags:

Depending upon food buffs and full stacks of bloodlust, both can obtain 2700+/- power (this is with crests of the soldier). Lead with Plague (trait for chilling if possible) – blind, blind, blind and let frontline heavies kill.

Another option with these two builds that I have been playing with lately is to use Melandru runes with condition reduction food – makes using Plague and DS a smoother proposition. Power output with full stacks of bloodlust = 2500+
