If something is op in meaningless fight anet won’t nerft it. Thief stealth is good example.
All fights in WvW are utterly meaningless anyway. The winning team is decided solely by total coverage.
I absolutely disagree.
When I am running a map at 3am PST alone, very alone, I can turn the score to a larger score just but turning sentries and running dolyaks.
Where did you get the idea that a single player in any game against other real players just doesn’t matter? We do. We always have.
We are still learning to be a team on most servers.
Some are not helping by being negative, running from fights and being debbie downers instead of being the mentors who are badly are needed on all servers.
It actually is all about coverage. You are able to do that because your enemy server is failing in that department. Against servers with good coverage, holding a keep for a few hours is meh. What’s important is to get new players and keep learning, and keep the new players learning so they don’t make hugely ignorant threads about how conditions that are capped are op and full zerk DPS can’t compare.
It’s irrelevant to this discussion – this discussion is about conditions being OP in WvW, NOT coverage, duh.
Tailor
Armorsmith
Leatherwork
Thanks for all you do, Dulfy!
Question or let me get this straight:
Tailoring is for light ascended armor, Armorsmith is for heavy ascended armor, Leatherwork for medium ascended armor?
Who exactly is “a lot of others” cause I certainly have no problem with using the Mystic forge nor do I consider it tedious. Opps, my bad, it always seems that the minority speaks and gets the attention of Anet rather than the majority….
Consume conditions for the win.
WvW, tbh, I use ’zerk in there as PVT or anything else is too dull to play.
Certainly hope you are solo or small group roaming cause otherwise, if your running such in a zerg, you amount to nothing more than insta-rally food for the opposing zerg.
Guardian shield 5 should be an instant cast reflection bubble based around the player which moves with him, similar to shield of the avenger.
This would see it as a very powerful choice for pve.
As bolded above, yes; otherwise, shield 5 is an insta-cast already.
How does TC let SoS put a wp in smc?
Cooperation and teamwork…all the while both focusing FA.
I haven’t really seen a double team, but I have seen a lot of people take a break from the ppt game.
TC seems to be in full on karma train mode and SOS has been blobbing more than they did back in the day.
Overall it’s pretty much what I expected when returning from leagues.
Returning from leagues? No, welcome back to T1 brother cause in T1, zergs to mega zergs- such as those that SoS and TC have been running of late in this match-up – are the norm.
It’s like you cherry picked all the realistic stuff you want and ignored the rest….
Bingo and well said!
One year?
Found a precursor 4 months ago, sold it on TP.
Then spent 2.5 months farming and selling ingots and planks = Legendary BOUGHT and obtained without the year long grief.
I’m sorry, BG did it first, with 57 golems
yet no one is clapping… why do you think that is?
And no one is clapping here – why is that, o’wise one?
And being a T1 server attracts T1 players, people who want to play against the best competition the game has to offer.
Having played T1 with HB and MERC for nearly 8 months, while some players are definitely top notch, assuming that just because your playing in T1 you are playing with the best players or competition is utter hogwash.
Guardian
Warrior
Mesmer
There is little doubt that what one perceives as honorable and dishonorable is different from how another may perceive the two. I appreciate YOUR interpretation of the two but quite frankly, in ‘war’, there is no such thing as honorable and dishonorable – you win by any and all means necessary.
You can do nothing short of setting up a TS wide password verification system and that still will not stop the issue. In other words, short answer: there is NOTHING you can do about the problem.
For support in WvW you could run 0/0/10/30/30 or 0/10/0/30/30. Can check out some of my vids if you want to see what it can bring to a team.
Hey sport, you forgot the 0/0/30/30/10 and 0/0/30/20/20 Guardian support builds…….
Just from the images, the biggest complaint that will likely come from the GvG guilds pertaining to this area will be the need for more space to fight. We will see though.
Because they hit harder than one handed weapons. Basically a 2-hander already comes with a buffed up Sigil of Force on it (within it).
W….H…….A……T……?
Staff, no-no.
Go GS, sword/focus or GS sword/pistol
It works fine, as does ring of warding. You need to time its use for AFTER the frontline zerg, or those you are fighting, has/have popped its stability and has no other stability to fall back on.
Bring the dps son.
Roam build.
As such, DPS is a good thing.
Accordingly, I use this build when I roam with my Guardian.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgYhGde9Qmc
Zerg build, go more support and survivability. DPS will take care of itself within the mechanics of a zerg. Bags galore will still take place if tagging properly.

351 Guardian
220 Mesmer
228 Necro
178 Warrior
Weakest class, erm, roflmao?!
Quenta of the Black Talons plays a necro and does/did quite well leading his guild zerg + pugs around.

Title says it all.
You know what the big problem about scoring is? It’s some random server ticking at 600 PPT while you sleep gaining so much points that there is no way you can come back even if you play all day long.
Limit PPT to 230 max per server and problem solve.
If you want to win a match up, you have to put constant effort. Not just PvDooring while everyone is asleep.
Nice try sport, but you can reach and sustain 600PPT and do it NOT while everyone is asleep, so…………..problem is not solved…….
This is a real man’s frontline necro, SrebX. :P

“Ultimate,” huh?
Also, Attackattack, the warrior roaming build I use has no condition removal, at all, and does quite well as evidenced by the vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6r4E9N50lTs) I have long posted up showing the build I use in action. It/they (conditions) is/are manageable if one plays smartly.
Your reply seems overly defensive. I asked an honest question, and I never said you “hit” like a wet noodle, I said you “crit” like a wet noodle, then you never directly answered my real question, which is if you think the raw power and attack makes up for it. Although, based on the tone of your reply, I guess you did answer me indirectly.
On the contrary, I find that you don’t need nearly that much armor and health and still remain quite durable and even play on or near the front line in large group encounters with a Necro. Instead that stat allocation can move towards stats that increase raw damage to put health pressure on enemy zergs. To each their own I guess.
Indeed, to each their own. Given the sheer amount of WvW kills I have accumulated under this necro build (running with HB and MERC primarily), my mesmer build, and Guardian build(s), I will change nothing. That amount of armor, health, etc. sustains me quite effectively in most all WvW environments exceptionally well given my playstyle (which is critical if any one build is to perform as intended – your playstyle and skill level has a lot to do with such successes or failures of any build in particular)…..especially with my recent switch to Melandru runes and – condition food.

You can knock them back 600 range with a long cd. Also there are tons of small rooms where no long range is possible. In groups you have to melee enemies for the additional boons you get. GS is a very situational weapon, it’s not made for the “all the time” usage.
I run GS and sword/focus all the time, no other weapon switching takes place (use of staff, etc., nothing other than GS and sword/focus), there is nothing in WvW and PvE that I cannot handle with those two weapon sets, nothing.
Play how you want, but this is not an alt friendly system.
And it should not be either, imho. WvW is an individual toon progressions system (other than overall WvW achievements). But hey, given all the whining from many here, I have no doubt that ANet will cave and cater to the minority, that’s right, the MINORITY, rather than the majority who simply accept the current WvW exp and rank system for what it is…per individual toon.
There is no build with good dps in soldier gear. You’ll do absolutely kitten slap dps without crit. You can swap on full PVT and be some kind of tanky support but your dps won’t be good, like ever.
If you just want to go lazy mode random zerging in WvW (99% of WvW is just that) soldier is good since you stay alive to collect bags.
BS, simple as that. You DPS freaks simply think you are the king of the hills and will go sooooo out of your ways to think nothing else can DPS well.
Yeah, 138K WvW kills later, this build still mops the floor as I continue to collect my copious amounts of loot bags……I so love running into you necro DPS freaks in WvW cause you are downed faster than you can type “There is no build with good dps in soldier gear” when I run into you. Go figure……

OP, if you are primarily zerging, run hammer with sword/warhorn on switich.
If you are small group (2-5 man) or solo roaming, use this:

Anyhow, the key to using GS is immersion – always put yourself in the thick of things to not only test your build, but your player abilities and decision making.
I have a wvw power necro that puts out about 2700+ power with 25 stacks of bloodlust and has nearly 2000 toughness and nearly 3K armor along with having 33K health with 5 stacks of applied fortitude. Go figure.
http://i39.tinypic.com/np5lbp.jpgBut in the rare chance you do crit, you do so like a wet noodle. Do you find that the raw power and attack outweighs having a respectable crit chance and damage? Or is your build more about being a mobile siege weapon?
I’d be interested in seeing your build and gear choices in a calculator if you feel like zipping one together.
Dude, depends upon how you define “wet noodle”…..with over 138 K kills in WvW, I hardly would say that my necro hits like a “wet noodle” but hey, I’ll keep collecting mah loot bags while you continue to contemplate how my 2700 Power is hitting like a “wet noodle”…..
Here is what I do know: While the OPs build will drop like a “wet noodle” as soon as some enemy players wink or fart its way, mine can frontline, literally, like any warrior or guardian, and kill.
Edit, and Liquid: my build was easily found by clicking on my name and looking at my post history. Anyhow, the build is right here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Full-power-necro-where-do-we-stand/first#post2753197
I use this build when I ran in Tier 1 (BG) for about 8 months. Now that I am playing in Tier 2 (FA), I am using a slight variation of the build I used in Tier 1, which is just as effective.

I’m not a huge fan of the GS. It’s got some fun skills and good DPS. but I hate the fact that any enemy can kitten the auto-attack just by staying close to you. Are there any other weapon skills in the game that have that restriction?
If you are using GS, why are you letting something in your face anyways?
Besides, GS skill 5 knocks them back quite effectively, so again, I go back to my question….
I use this build when roaming in WvW – still effective today. The key to the build is knowing it inside and out – both its weaknesses and strengths, and being a fairly competent player, knowing when to retreat, pull back and regroup, and when to go kitten deep, so to speak.

Survivability is a matter of perspective. I run a DPS Phantasm all zerker geared mesmer in both PvE and WvW, and survive just fine. Know what you are fighting, know when to dodge the big hits, etc. = one fun mesmer to play.
And much like a children’s christmas list, it ignores hard realities.
… he said in a very childish way.
Welcome to the naughty list.
If you are going to disagree, how about going into some detail that can be debated or rebuked? Else, the fact that you may disagree is blatantly pointless which makes your reply a complete a waste of bandwidth.
No, actually what he/she said is not “blatantly pointless,” he/she simply stated the truth – your wish list “ignores hard realities” – which you then ignored and instead resorted to talking about things that were “blatantly pointless”….go figure.
[DIE] is actually a pretty decent WvW guild. They also provide an abundance of good loot bags as they get themselves.
OP, your build probably works well for you, but I do not need “big numbers” to be effective nor to accumulate loot bags, along with fabulous spikes. I run this when roaming (I have a different build I run when running mid-to-large group):
Mess with my hard earned applied fortitude and I will move to your server and hunt you down forever.
They do not “stroll” out or in. Deal with it – it is an aspect of the game, and as such, it is a strategy to rez a keep Lord, etc. And if banner works for players, it most certainly should work for NPCs given they are on your same side. People have no clue what “OP” even is if you think banners are OP…. =.=
All of them =.=
I fight for fights, not rewards.
Good for you. Some of us need a reason to fight, not just fighting for it’s own sake.
Fight for your server or head back to PvE land…yeah, that works.
So sick of this generation’s rants about “what’s in it for me” rather than “what can I do for you.” John F. Kennedy would indeed be appalled with these last few generations and their collective mindsets. =.=
Greatsword has a huge massive con that makes it worthless for any kind of pvp.
Hundred Blades roots you and takes too long to complete. Greatsword dps is great on paper, but in practice people dodge, interupt, invuln, block, blink and leap away from it.
Any kind of PvP, eh? Would that include the PvP of WvW?
GS is awesome for MOBILITY, among its DPS capabilities….
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6r4E9N50lTs
Given the above link, what is apparent, no disrespect intended, is your lack of understanding of GS in certain situations or various PvP environments. That above video linked build still is quite viable today and has given me endless loot bags and fun.
(edited by Rigel.3092)
The build looks interesting. That being said, I have long run a 10/0/25/30/0 axe/dagger and, depending upon situation, either staff or dagger/warhorn on switch. Wearing all PVT (along with full stacks of bloodlust, Melandru runes, – condition duration food, plague) and my build has near 2600 power, 2000+ toughness and armor, and with 5 stacks of fortitude, 34K health. I frontline tank mobs all the time…wvw loot bags galore and I love the build.
is it really ok for every spec other than shatter builds to completely ignore the class mechanic (with the exception being the occasional f4)?
i dont like AI based builds, im not saying they should be completely removed, but their effectiveness is currently way too much to the point where it is overwhelming player skill.
Hey dude, if you do not like them, then do not play one, but your messing with my Phantasm DPS build is bad voodoo.
DPS in PvE
Tank in WvW (unless I am solo roaming).
That is how I roll. :P
