Ran a small roaming guild at one point and the tag attracts everyone and their dog, cat, ferret, 6 lined wrasse fish, etc.

Would think the idea would allow more havoc crews on maps as well, ya know diversifying the game a bit.

Some little things…

  • move npc’s (merchants / quartermaster etc) away from supply (so can’t accidentally start dialog instead of supply pick up)
  • move synthesizers away from any repairable walls (so they are not in the way when trying to rep walls in a hurry)
  • allow items from ’traps and tricks" merchant to be purchased without needing badges of honour
  • reduce the number of flax fibres required for ‘minor supply drop’ – perhaps by removing the linen supply sack required for copper reinforcing plate
  • be able to trade empyreal fragments / dragonite ore / bloodstone dust for badges of honour
  • include an ‘info’ icon on tactivators so new players know what they are
  • if a guild places schematic upgrades on a tower / keep which is not their claim (emergency wp’s etc), say the guilds name on those improvements.

Big fan of the empy/dragonite/bloodstone for badges idea. Just too much junking up inventory. Also like moving npcs away from supply pick up.

To add I’d like to see that massive billboard “x server took camp” removed from the screen. Make it optional or put in text box. It’s right smack dead in the screen where at times it even covers up invader’s food/buffs. Not helpful when roaming and distracting during fights.

Well, I’ll bite

-Server loyalty would be great or some incentive to go back to your server of birth. But the rewards can’t be moronic like a 5000 tomes of knowledge or cache full of junk.

-Siege caps would greatly help. There’s just too much.

-Lower player cap per map. This could greatly help go back to server versus server, no linkings. Or maybe make it tier based.
Tier 1 allows 60 players per map
Tier 2 allows 50 players per map
And so on

-Condition damage is off the charts. We really don’t need to go into this.

-Power creep. Some classes are able to one shot individuals with little skill but the click of the mouse.

-Vanilla classes needs some help. Feels like anet has abandoned any improvements to them.

-Diversity is terrible in this game. HoT has forced many guilds, players, roamers, etc to use a meta or HoT build. Go back to the 5 trait line to diversify this game again.

-The great teamspeak issue. It can’t be that difficult to incorporate a wvw server ONLY talking system into wvw. You are on xyz server you get to enter teamspeak, not on that server no access.

-Outnumbered buff. Maybe increase damage versus vets, siege damage increase, siege building supply reduction, or reward track experienced is doubled.

-Roaming. It’s awful. Look at me I have every single benefit in the game and can run away from anything in 0.2 seconds. You shouldn’t be able to hit like a mac truck, take massive damage, heal for insane amounts, be invulnerable for 3 hours, have stealth and get out of combat with one skill. Balance please.

-Skills need to be exclusive to a classes again. The old RPG concept, stupid thieves get stealth. It’s what they are known for. I’m seeing lots of classes getting access to stealth that don’t even make sense.

-Community is nonexistent. What makes RPGs and wvw is general great was the family of servers. Megaservers will make the pvers happy I’m sure but LA should belong to the WvWers. The closer a community the more a player will want to log in and hang with their friends. This means more active communities and guilds can once again grow.

-Speaking of guilds, give these elitists what they want. You want to pursue your esports dream well here it is on a golden platter. A cross server gvg arena with its own map.

-EOTM is inefficient and a terrible addition to this game. It not only amplified the karma train but stole potential recruits from the real wvw. Those resources should have been dedicated to wvw and keeping wvw on track. Instead, it became an easy leveling system and karma hungry pvers. Keeping it online means you’re losing profit, transfers.

-Those guys who still play warrior or guard and tag up 12v80, they need some help. The stab nerf and condi explosion destroyed these guys and gals motivation to tag up. They were the ones that motivated a few players who said “F it, we’ll keep fighting” while others logged off. I think this leads back to the power/condi overhaul along with giving stability it’s rightful place back in wvw.

-Speaking of commanders, my best days were spent on little kaineng when we were T8. I miss those days and the PLAYER EXPERIENCE for me was incredible. I drove little secret nectar guild at times and I was awful….just an awful driver. But you know what…..people on that server said it was the most fun they had and I remember one guy late night in teamspeak. He was older and disabled and I remember him saying “this game is one of the few things I have to enjoy due to my disability and thanks for leading and driving”. This is why community is incredibly important and leads back to the numbers game. I was awful at driving but because I spec’d myself to take insane damage and could handle conditions, I could last incredibly long in a fight and drive. Today, if I tagged up I’d be blown to pieces in second because of the condi meta. What I’m getting at is commanders should be rewarded for what gear they are running. You were sentinel for example you should be a pure tank but we have classes looking at you and saying “EPIDEMIC EAT IT!”. It just doesn’t seem to matter what you are running gear wise, condi wins or power still hits for insane damage.

-Rewards are ok. But why isn’t there something useful like a full reward superior siege track? Or laurels only so we can buy those stupid ascended trinkets faster?

-World ability points. I’m a launch guy, I have an excess of these guys and we can’t find a use for them? I wvw level and get a cloth gear……oh boy. Needs improvement.

-That Mckenna dev girl, she seems really nice and smart. We need a John Cena badly for wvw to help repair the anet-player relationship because believe it or not we want to see anet thrive.

That’s my rant, I’m going to drink a glass of wine now and watched old saved by the bell episodes.

alot of players are actually making new thiefs, when i was makign the rev theres were alot of lvl 1 thiefs in the start area.

Players only play builds that do or cut the effort for them a the end, so i guess that is why theres alot of thiefs trying out the stealth gimmick, we will see more and more, still Anet wont “fix” it unless theres a 20-30 man of stealth trappers, wich would be fun to happen in wvw.

I’m still the idiot running around with minion master builds thinking its going to work one day. Minions last like 0.5 seconds in a fight I swear lol

Dont feel bad… MM wasnt that bad some were very deadly and heavy condis burst.

I was using some Spirit Weapons over this 4 years while playing WvW….
They last shorter than minions ^^, and bow that cleanse condis also bugs and clears condis from target….or desigingage form combat and got observe the wildlife at max range on the oposite side of the battle……true story.

Kinda agree that the whole TS thing is blown out of proportion as a must, especially these days.

I’ve ran with two guilds who had some very strict leaders who would use silent driving as a form of training or punishment. No words were spoken and it was up to you to learn your skills and keep the guild alive. Sounds weird but you become very aware of what skills you are blowing and using.

It’s pretty amazing what you can do when you focus and put yourself in a hyperawareness state of mind. It certainly taught me what to look for and identify what 99% of my guildies were doing during fights and to not be selfish with my utilities. It created “sharing is caring”

Not to sound high horsey, but because of that style of training I’m usually the last to die if the group I’m running in gets annihilated. Rarely am I in teamspeak.

You should just know what to do and these HoT builds make you near bulletproof at times.

The issue is…..previously the voice on population balancing is much softer than the voice of scoring. It is not that there isn’t anyone mentioning about population balancing but a lot more people on the forums were celebrating and show more concern about scoring than population balancing itself. To put it in other words, there were more people who care about night capping scoring than actual population itself.

In that perspective, anet not giving population balance as priority is logically understandable though at the same time, short sighted.

Regardless, a lot of people have given up the hope there will be even any population balance, those voices have gotten smaller, anet actions towards WvW are simply depressing.

Problem is you can’t speak your mind too much here. You’re instantly silence via a deletion or thread closed. Some are justified, others speak the truth and yet are closed for some unknown reason whether it be a PC move or they just don’t like hearing concerns from their customers.

I logged in this week and you can see it, the groups just look different and smaller.

I have made a lot of posts over the years, many of which are debates and arguments. So far, there were only a few posts deleted due to breaking the rules. I also had a post that was wrongly deleted which the mod team admit it shouldn’t violate the rules.

I used to often participate in many different debates and arguments in this forums, I can say that they don’t delete every negative posts because I have a lot of negative posts

Honestly speaking, many WvWers often could not participate in this kind of forums of debates and arguments without resorting to personal attacks and insults. This naturally cross the line and get deleted. Also, WvWers often derail from topic and changing it into a matchup topic.

To give a recent example of what anet took note of from my years of posting. A few months ago, I made a topic questioning about the scribing cost of guild sieges. I think a patch or two later, the scribing cost for those guild sieges are reduced.

There were also the dolyak suggestion made by another player, suggestion to put upgrade into number of dolyaks instead of timer.

For a game mode as big as WvW, suggestions that require drastic changes, a few logical or reasoning voices will not be impactful enough for anet to perform any actions. It need to be majority voices supporting the idea to move anet into actions.

I feel ya, many of my posts are very frosty lol

However, look at the wvw forum. Lots of questions raised by communites on EU, closed for no reason but the cliche excuse “match up forum”. Easy route taken.

I do often see valid posts from the past get ghost thief deleted though, must be why anet loves ghost thief.

In all honesty the linking is never going to work when people can transfer every time the wind changes direction. How are they meant to know the wvw population when it changes every 5 minutes by people moving server?

It’s an mmo, they age, players get bored, etc. The game is 4.5 years old, decent run.

A larger problem is the lack of attention wvw has gotten over the years. People got tired of waiting on anets promises so they moved on. HoT came along and the skill balance was out of control, still is in lots of certain aspects and destroyed build diversity.

WvW is gank city: therefore your roamer community declines.
Boon/condi meta has taken over: therefore your zerg/havoc community declines.
Numbers game: Larger force wins, the brave guilds got frustrated, guilds fall.

You are seeing first hand the decline of an mmo. Relinkings of servers because they are so dead, declining quarterly financial reports, devs getting their experience and moving onto other jobs, popular pvpers like Helseth moving on, and among other examples.

Loved the game, but the player experience is at an all time low in wvw. It’s quite sad to witness as a day one player in wvw when the game mode was so vibrant and active

Legendary Guild names

I wouldn’t say that OnS is the best pound for pound guild right now. I’ve seen them get beat by Jekz multiple times in not only open field but in roster vs roster fights. Most of the time it looks like OnS has at least 5 more than Jekz also. So I would put Jekz above OnS. Also Jekz is Rekz just a reform with a different driver. At least they didn’t go and stack other guilds like KEK and BORP.

TM should be on the list also Team Micro that is. They were good back in the day and from what I hear are just getting use to the meta right now.

The most legendary guilds in NA would have to be Agg, NS, EP. Those three guilds were the best in the game for the longest time and stood the test of time until the game got boring because Anet neglected to do anything for WvW.

So basically the best guilds right now in game would be KEK, BORP, Jekz, OnS, vX, TM (Team Micro), and maybe Mada (which helps out KEK in gvgs).

Most other guilds run more than 20-25 so they don’t really deserve a shout out.

TM will never be good without the great well casting machine Ozone.

No mention of oT ominous threat, though long gone. I always thought they could hold their own against insane numbers, even when the pirate meta arrived.

For the old guys who remember: CNB, BMS, PVP.

Like the guy above, the crews who run 20+ are not worth consideration. The guys/gals that ran a small family of 10-15 are legends IMO, but long gone.

I think they don´t care anymore. How many time with no improves now? Just some “fixes” here and there, but is not enough.

Population balance is horrible right now. I am at Blackgate and we are a ghost town until NA prime, compared to the population of Maguuma.

Honestly, what is going to happen is they’ll ignore this game mode. Then the xpac will come out and you’ll see advertising, heavy hype train, and promises yet again made that will never be fulfilled with a large price tag yet again. It’s a rinse and repeat cycle with anet, hopefully players don’t fall for it.

It’s something you expect from professionals.

Programming on such large projects is not this easy. Its not as simple as “WPs are functioning wrong, time to flip that bug switch to off and make players happy!”

But by all means if it is so easy go ahead and submit the fix to ANet through a ticket. I’m sure they would love to have a well thought out, working, bug free fix to this issue that is compatible with their codebase.

I’m not “not holding ANet accountable”, but it kittenes me off when people tell developers to “just fix it”. This shows that they clearly have less than 0 knowledge about how programming works, and is just asinine on their part. If it was as easy as “just fix it” then it would have been done already. And since he clearly thinks its so easy when Anet has shown that its not easy to fix by not fixing it, then he should take the burden up of fixing it. because clearly, according to him, he knows how to program better than ANet. So he should help them with their game

WVW matchup seems imbalanced?

Over the last several months, Anet has made several changes to glicko and to scoring that greatly increases the chances of having more variety in matchups. The downside of this is that it can lead to lopsided matchups with a dominant server rolling a matchup with servers from a lower tier.

The problem with the matchup variety is that the server populations and coverage are terribly imbalanced. The result is half the matches (or more) are complete face stomps.

If there was decent population balance the matchup variety would be a good thing.

Right now it’s just driving people away.

That’s why Anet suggested more, smaller servers. A lot easier to balance population through linking if they have lots of small numbers to work with, as opposed to a tiny sample of larger numbers. But people don’t want that.

There were a lot of problems with that proposal, which was only brought for discussion. They never mentioned it being an actual alternative or replacement for WvW. The biggest issue with it, in my opinion, was the lack of details and how it would affect servers. There were many reasons players were hesitant about it.

I feel like anet has moved on from wvw…..

You never know…during my DAOC playing time, I often saw problems that seemed hard to code in day or two…then again, problems that they said are “impossible” to fix, they fixed anyway, after few years.

One interesting fact I noticed is that problems affecting their cash flow were usually fixed fast, while others waited for a long time.

Someone said it best in wvw map chat. “EAnet, it’s in the gemstore”. Though I can’t blame them, gotta make money.

Programming on such large projects is not this easy. Its not as simple as “WPs are functioning wrong, time to flip that bug switch to off and make players happy!”

But by all means if it is so easy go ahead and submit the fix to ANet through a ticket. I’m sure they would love to have a well thought out, working, bug free fix to this issue that is compatible with their codebase.

I’ve tried quite a bit of things myself, nothing seems to help. Few friends in game have given up on EB completely in addition to wvw all together.

Players are mentioning something to do with the last patch but who freaking knows……

Golem Rush

Who cares about a golem rush? the game has bigger problems.

With James….this game has several higher priority issues that need addressed. Anet needs a work plan to follow in my opinion. Pick a project and complete by x date. And we’ll understand as the players if “only this is realistic to complete in one month” but it will be an improvement in the end at least.

One more thing: it’s more of a lucky guess when blink and other teleports are working, in particular the alpine borderlands. As a rule of thumb, you can not blink from the grass up the stairs and vice versa, but there are exceptions to it (For instance the stairs in south bay allow a blink to the upper ledge, but only more to the right). It makes skills like steal, illusionary leap or unrelenting assault extremely unreliable.

This is a game breaker as well between the lag and inconsistent teleports. You never know what you are going to get with certain skills.
