A single dragon banner with plenty of space, not really a big deal. Just keep moving and/or spread out. However, in chokes or narrow corridors, they do suck. I dread the day we regularly see multiple banners at the same time… Banner Wars lol. So cheesy.

Overall it is ruining fights and not really encouraging for open field combat. Apparently there’s already a meta for “autowin” using dragon banners with mesmers. Game over

Once in awhile when I’m on my lunch break at work, I look up my old long lost guild wvw raid vids. I remember a time when it was exciting to log into wvw and teamspeak hearing voices now long gone from the game and the fearless driver “Number FourtySeven” yell at us in team speak each night “FOCUS THE FRACK UP YOU IDIOTS!” I remember reset anticipating who our opponents were going to be that week because it meant new guilds to fight because reputations were huge back then. We were a small team, only 10-12 on a good night but it’s kinda weird, I still remember epic fights, certain funny team speak comments, or just moments that were legend that only our little guild shared.
The vid below and music kinda makes me sad and happy at the same time.
Luckily us players shared those moments together and anet can’t take that away from us. They’ve managed to take away so much, but at least we all share those alpine memories together
Not sure if this is a thing of the past but looking for a zerg chaser build. I joined T1 and good god….there is roamers but massive zergs. So being the kitten I am I’d like to zerg chase on necro to prove how tough I am.

I haven’t logged into the game for around a month. I keep thinking I can do what I did long ago when I was FA, come back and create a little roaming guild that wrecked havoc on enemy BLs. But when I see the costs of building up a guild and lots of reports of no roamers I remember it’s a faint whisper these days.

You have to understand when project managers or $$$ is invested into a product the common method is to stay the course despite the doubters.
I’ve seen people in my line of work keep rolling with the worst of ideas ignoring help along the way or having an open mind. It’s this weird “in too deep” mentality that they “must make it work at all costs” that leads to the downfall in the end. I feel as if anet has invested so much in the new maps that they are “in too deep” and there’s no turning back.
The opening of all servers must have them worried. Trending data shows people are not playing a mode you invested in and they obviously dedicated time to the creation of these maps. The sudden wvw drop off and gem transfer fees put a dent in their statistics I’m sure.
Now…they must choose and are most likely having meetings I would think about what is the best approach. Whether that is closing tier x through z servers or creating a mega-server system, a decision must be made…and soon as a large player base has given up on them and I believe them to recognize this based on nearly all servers opening.
They just signed a deal with the e sports thingy, this creates pressure on a team and I’ve seen it first hand unfortunately. Whoever the captain is, they are steering this ship towards dangerous waters and putting extreme pressure on the poor devs. It’s really easy to see what may be going on here, a deal was struck and anet has a deadlines, outline timelines with an outside manager on their tails to meet, and control of resources. One dev, whom we know very well in the wvw world, left. If someone who was a major factor with wvw is willing to start applying for jobs and leave anet, then that tells a story. The guy moved on for a better opportunity clearly, but it’s very obvious…the company is headed in a strange direction that logical thought knows is not a wise decision.

It’s a bit concerning and as time goes on I’m just not buying this “people are pveing and guilds are building up their halls” Any true wvwer pukes at the thought of pveing.
I tried roaming for three hours tonight, 3 measly engagements……just three. I tried EB for a bit and the enemy bls.
Something is wrong here. I’m trying to give the bls a chance and roam as I normally do but holy hell this is quite boring, the current state is driving me away. I’m not sure if it is my style of play in solo roaming but just can’t get into the zerg ball mentality. Everyone seems to hang in EB in T3 currently with little roaming. I get the whole guild raid thing but good lord this can’t be more blatantly obvious the mode is blah.
I pvp’d for the first time tonight, that was sorta fun but just didn’t have that surprise wvw factor. I just like that feeling of running alone in the enemy bls or deep into enemy territory in eb with the unknown feeling of what is to come.
Just not sure what to do with myself anymore trying not to be impatient being it’s only 2 weeks after HoT but new bls? Ghost land? Doesn’t seem good IMO

Would you have servers anyway? (Just for WvW)
-Not sure if I’d cut down the server numbers. Seems like T8-T7 are dead and they could roll with 10-12 servers today if they wanted. I do like the style though and I remember at launch always getting excited to fight someone new and guilds. I hate EOTM mainly due to I’m a fan of community, which is long lost these days with the transfer craze. I think server identity was the cool think about this game because you got to go out in wvw and represent.
Would you have some sort of system based on guilds? Alliances?
-I think guilds for hire or bidding on would be an awesome idea. Pugs, server guilds, roamers could donate to a server pot. Thursday night they submit a vote to an NPC to what guilds will be hired to help the server that week based on the bidding war. Mercenaries for hire In a sense you could solve coverage problems and help those struggling servers. Though I could see gold being an issue for the poor unpopulated servers. But kinda like a country rising who is broke as hell. Might give the game a dynamic aspect but a T1 guild on ET might really suck, so just an idea.
Would you still have 3 way battles, or something else?
-I don’t think wvw could handle anymore lag so 3 way battles seem like where we are stuck. I think 3 way server fights give gvg oriented guilds more opportunity though so they can find more guilds to fight.
Would you have fixed match ups, or dynamically generate matches as needed?
-Going back to my hiring guild idea, dynamically generated matches based on hired guilds roster size. I also think the more serious guilds would like the idea because more variety of guilds to fight gvg wise based on what server hires or bids on them for the week.
Anyway, just a thought. It just seems guilds, thus the title guild wars, could become that dominate guild in the game. I also think it could bring those hard core guilds back to the game. Rebuilding their great name again and getting players motivated again to build their server name up again.
