Sounds like you need more mobility in your build. Roaming isn’t dueling, you need to be able to chase them down.

Talk about boring matchups. YAWN. I’m definitely glad I bought Overwatch and have 2 other GW2 accts. PvP and WvW are dead in GW2. Most of the pros and streamers are off to Overwatch. It’s too bad really, because GW2 combat had sooooo much potential.

Is Overwatch good? The UI looks like a christmas tree/disaster to me for a shooter, but it’s that or Stellaris for me.

Overwatch is fantastic, very addictive, I play it instead of spvp now.

The UI seems OK to me, it does need more social features though.

Because of the huge stigma for DBL being bad, it may just be more realistic to scrap it and move forward. They are probably to the point that they do not want to put more dev time into a map that alot of the community has boycotted vehemently irregardless of past changes and the presumed ones to come.

What I love about the alpine is the medieval feel to it. The DBL is a barren wasteland of filth and copy and pasted silver waste. It was quick and dirty, I’m sorry. No effort was put into that doo doo butter map.

Nah, in all seriousness wvw is about battle, glory, and epic battles. I really believe that is why the wvw community loves the Gothic architecture of the alpine. It just feels homey.

My best times were on the lower tiers. It definitely had a strong community down in the trenches of the lower tiers once upon a time. All lost in time now

Would be nice for recruitment. I can’t see why they can’t do that battleground format like wow, I always enjoyed the small scale arathi basin or alterac valley. I mean we have pvp but what I like about wvw is the unknown and gear diversity.

That way you could sorta have a pvp format in wvw and short gvg fights. Why not have a 15-30 minute fight instead of one boring week? But I do like that the fights in the OP format affects the overall score. Cool idea and I think it would bring something fresh and new to the wvw community.

I think gw2 in general has no bright future.

We can’t expected anet to carry out project and planning, they seemed ill equipped currently and the past has shown it. Also, we won’t ever have an honest conversation in the forums about the future. More smoke and mirrors if you ask me.

They need to hire an outside professional whose specialty is developing a work plan and expecting genuine results out of the staff with clear time lines. Time to contract out and get with the program here.

Ironically, the song below reminds of what wvw is, so close but so far away in the end. This train is leaving soon. I think it’s honestly over for good. They can megaserver all they want, they can add all the rewards they want, they can call in unicorns and sell all the coffee cups and t shirts they want, and hold all the 4 year old late polls they want, the mmo world is just ships passing in the night and guild wars 2 is just another mmo ship passing in the night going off into the fog never to be seen again. They had the mmo crowd in the palm of their hand but blew it.

Sorry but this is thread is completely inaccurate. I run a hugely condi build reaper, however, a high power build melee class can take me down fast and a thief using macros from hiding…well, I am not even going to go there, because it’s the weekend and I DON’T WANT TO START IT HACKED OFF!!!

Wait…. You’re having problems with thieves as a condi reaper?

I thought that too as I read. When I use to play reaper for roaming, came across maybe one thief from a lower tier server, think it was IOJ, that knew what he was doing. Probably the best thief I ever came across in 4 years of playing and made up a pretty incredible build that allowed him to control every aspect of fight without using cheese stealth or d/p easy mode.

Majority of thiefs in wvw are appetizers when playing reaper.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I may be living in the past with wvw when I use to command a long time ago with warrior and dove into zergs sustaining for a long time.

Real men use Necromancer for the most part. Not that reaper crap, old school Death shroud baby.

However, if you are one of “those” players…..you know who you are…..Thief and Warrior are king IMO. I brushed the dust off my warrior the other day and was impressed with the class, very awesome damage and sustain. Overall, I’m just a stay and fight fan I guess hence the necromancer love.

Agreed, it is out of control not only for small scale but 1v1. Too much crutch being used by bad players. WvW needs skilled play back ASAP

Hello, OP here. Well I’m not really surprised by some of you who still think that this is harmless and one can just run away from it in every situation. The thing is, the only way I was able to counter that guy was to spend currency for a stealth trap. So using any weapon or utility skills was rendered useless. Sic Em! is also completely useless in such a case, yet is supposed to be a counter to stealth, but hey, you need a target first…

Stealth needs to be toned down, it should be situational and limited.

It is harmless though. You literally witnessed how harmless it was as he was unable to down you for the duration of your video. You could have just walked away. It’s not like he’s going to kill anybody other than a complete noob with that build, and he poses no risk on his own to any of your objectives. If this thief’s build makes you rage this hard, I can only assume if you fought a condi PU mesmer you would smash your computer into a million pieces.

But sure you guys keep asking for nerfs to thief and stealth based on troll builds that are barely more harmful than an ambient creature. In my opinion, if anything needs to be toned down in this game right now it’s the ridiculous amount of CC being spammed, boons being easily spammed, and conditions being applied so often through passive means that it equates to burst.

The disgusting Maguuma thief speaks the truth. I still roam here and there presently and can’t believe this is where the game is, spamming condis and boons like carbon dioxide in Tokyo. It’s quite boring seeing the same builds and another opponent linking me his/her gear when I say good fight. VIPERS VIPERS VIPERS VIPERS.

The game is like a healthcare plan right now, standardized and you will play this way. Don’t you dare include diversity in your build or stats.

Diku is spot on as usual. I only came back to roam in alpine bl. But now once again I’m seeing the player drop off. The world linking didn’t do anything but blob everyone up. Look at these matches right now. Nearly every match is over by Saturday night. Then it’s just blobbers tower taking and if you run into another zerg it’s an aoe party and dancing back and forth. Like Ajax Blue said “no skill”.

Roaming stinks too, lots of skinny jean wearing thiefs and sephora wearing memsers. Yawn mode, got better there for a bit but I think it was more excitement for the old bls coming back.

Anet seems to have a tendency to do the ole snake oil salesman method.

“Take these pills, you’ll feel better” But anet never resolves the underlying issues, just smoke and mirrors once again.

I’m all about learning experiences, re-evaluating procedures and protocols, collaborating with fellow gamers, and creating a better experience for everyone but seeing a game mode in beta close to 4 years in is alarming.

I don’t treat emergency situations as learning experiences. These guys better get it together at anet or the ship will sink.

Yeah…I see a thief or mesmer I just move on. Very boring to fight and don’t even waste your time. 90% run anyway.

Basically what others have said. I’ve come across classes when roaming who have multiple boons up at once and seemed to be machines with their HP never dropping below 90% spamming minor conditions and just wear you down.
