Yeah I knew about the cosmetic only concept. I wish they would actually have something added to it. But then again I guess in some ways its somewhat of a gear check. you have to be pretty dedicated to fractals and the idea for all of the work to get one of those.

of course I could be wrong as I have run with a PuG or 2 that have had one, and don’t know what Wall of reflection is, or stability. ….. shudder

As a Sword and focus guard and the one getting picked up off the floor…

it has nothing to do with you. and its all MY ability to use my class and dodge.

Worked a Lupi melee the other night with SkyChef, time after time, we got it a little bit farther. never made it though.
Couple days later. Ran it again Had Skychef and a DnT crew member, took us a bunch of tries but we did it.
ran it tonight. got it on our third try. and my personal second successful Lupi melee attempt.

When you are complaining about the sword focus gaurds that are always on their back. or ANY player that is always on their back. perhaps its just them learning.

So while you are complaining here for us being selfish, I am going to head back to Arah and learn how to hit harder than you and stay alive longer.

from the bottom of my heart thanks for being you. My game is more enjoyable because I know I can be better,

all of you, make this game fun for me,

as a guild leader of an over 300 person guild. taking what YOU all have taught me, and being able to Show them.

I still suck, I worked with SkyChef, for a couple hours last night doing Lupi melee mode. made it to phase 4 and every time he just suggested more things. and helped me and the Mesmer with us understand better, never a bad word.

The thing about the Colossus fight

Even though you are using an overhang in the pillar to keep the rocks off of you. the big lizard can still come up to you and hit you like a truck, done in the open room it has a nasty knockback that will last you outside of the kind warmasters shield.

So what do most do? they stack with a wall to THIER backs, so WHEN they get hit, they get knocked back INTO the wall.

I am sorry but I still don’t see it as an “exploit”.

Those of us in the necromancer community I am sure have at least heard of him if not seen his vids. " the perfected" … personally I think the guys did a REALLY good job.

that being said I built mine around his Glass cannon necromancer. and I really do enjoy it. Great DPS “uptime” and I hit harder than ohh so many people, (but that’s a whole different topic). You are absolutely right though its lacking in the “team” part of the play. I believe even “Nemisis” (I believe that’s his screen name) agrees that the necromancer is good for many things and can keep up with many things. but LACKS in the team play and “speed kill” environment, He made some good suggestions via his vid log, and I agree with many of them.

Ultimately I think under current “zerk Meta” Necromancer can be a very functioning member of a regular dungeon group. But as something you point at the “bad guy” and say kill it. Self stacking might and stacking vul. does a good job for the necro, but it leaves the rest of the group to try and 4 man the rest of the buffs…. that being said… in most cases. that’s plenty good. barring few exceptions don’t expect to see any speed kills with a necro in party. But you can certainly have one for just running a hard run.

I am really curious about a lot of this as well. Spoj I may have to chat with you in game or something about your necro stuff.

I LOVE my necromancer. but I realize in many regards it is somewhat a selfish class to play in dungeons. Barring what I now am reading as a condi based for high level fracs. but that is a nich role and I am glad that I know I have somewhere to take mine later.

Given that from what I am reading sure A glass cannon/damage based build does a really good job at stacking Vul, and can keep a very steady stream of damage going out and at targets. beyond that is not as much of a team player.
My Warrior does more raw damage. but I have “dps downtime” Where as my necromancer wont hit as hard but I have much greater “dps Uptime” . Problem is that is all I have??? Wariors can bring banners, Gaurds bring (insert dungeon guardian skill here )

Necromancers bring death.

I could see it as something like silvers drop a token.

I just think it might be a temporary balance solution. If you want to farm for tokens and or kill all things. you get at least Something out of it. but it does not change the game for the speed runners that much.

shrug I guess it could go both ways.

I run both ways just depends on who I am running with and what they want to do. But for a lot of players the dungeon armor is a way to get geared. handful of extra tokens per run would mean a lot to many people I know.

Challenge. Kill time for Lupi with 25 stacks of empower.

Thinking something like staying out at range and letting the grubs get eaten. timer starts at 25 stacks and first charge in?

Given that I have seen you guys do the Ice Elemental in fracs in 5? min, this may not be to hard, but I still would love to see it.

Adjustment to game:
Generally speaking when you kill stuff in the dungeon it does not respawn, Generally. Adjust the programming so this is the case. You kill something it stays dead.

Add 1 dungeon token as loot from everything you kill. Just one,

Barring a few exceptions. Being respawning trash like the farmers etc at the beginning of Arah.

What does this accomplish. It will give at lease SOME level of reward to players that want to kill everything. You Can trade tokens in for your gear for use and or salvage. and if you want to skip it all because you already have everything YOU CAN.

random idea I don’t know if it would actually work or not. Cant be any worse than the champ loot box farm in wherever.

Lupicus-no energy sigil possible?

Havent solo’d Lupi…. yet.

It can be done without energy sigils and or greatsword, so have faith.

Option:

Go ahead and take greatsword into he learning stages of the fight, think of whirling wrath as a does damage, free dodge.

Also, again for learning stages. check into “orian truffle and beef stew” Might on dodge and 40% endurance regen.

Took both of these for my “training” on soloing. Per Sandorino’s suggestion awhile back with the legendary archdeviner.

Just an idea to help you mitigate som of the process while you are looking at other things. and hopefully b able to get you to a point you can do it with your preferred state.

Edit: looks like you beat me to it by a few moments Check into the Orrian Truffle and beef stew it may help with your endurance and afford you the option to remove the greatsword and again attempt it at your preferred weapon set.

You are right of course. After posting and then going to run a few pits in Tyria. It did dawn on me,

Necromancer being a perfectly capable class in dungeon running, Is Very selfish. Sure you can stack up the vul, and keep a pretty steady actual damage per second. But you are right in that they do seem lacking in the party Environment.

Thief Looking to Learn Arah SC

From what I have seen on the future release notes. (available here in the forums)

Thieves are getting quite a few tweaks. I am not going to comment on them.

For the PvE thief however nothing really changes. in fact it actually seems to be a bit better. I run a thief all over and really enjoy it. is can and does bring a lot of things to a dungeon group table besides stealth.

After I made the jump into the damage builds and started being more active in dungeon running with the thief. I rarely use stealth at all. barring the Cloak and dagger skill. and the occasional skip in a run. they are a fun class and I have always enjoyed them.

Necromancer is also one that I run with regularly. and really enjoy. I built for damage and run. I have less utilities than a thief per say but I can still run with high damage output and be useful to my group.

Dungeons for beginners

(not expert opinion, just mine)

In my personal dungeon experience. It has gotten to the point that I have a preferred class for various encounters and or group composition. To best fit where I am at as a player.

My “go to” People are a Necromancer and Thief. I have the Guard and War as well. but again its group comp at that point.

Thieves have remarkable damage output, its just somewhat complicated to get there. regardless, They bring not only stealth to the mix but blast finishers. Smoke screen for your protection wall. Stuns, immobilizations, blinds, and cripples.

Necromancers, at least in my build. I can stack 25 vuln by myself. My Well of suffering crits every hit, and does an average of 3k per hit (in arah) and is a combo field. Focus 4 is a debuffer. I do however lack in a reflect. (unless I am missing one that I have not seen). but outside of that I really like the overall utility.

Nuts and bolts to it, to the original topic at hand, EVERY class has something that can be brought to the table. Its up to the player to want to find it, and then Have a group that is willing to work with it.

with damage builds barring the Necro who is Condition

NA server Tarnished Coast,

on Sporatically but typically later in the evening MT time, (1 hour ahead of server)

1 path out from dungeon master, have been through arah a few times but I always like going back, I would like to be more knowledgeable in general of the dungeon.

I should probably add that this is more of a personal challenge for me. I add things to my “plate” to keep me busy and occupied within the game and be able to enjoy myself. Keeps me coming back. The solo running is part of that.

Story modes are viable Options I realize. Picture yourself as a “high tier” dungeoneer. you know the ones that solo Lupi because its fun. All of you high end guys feel free to chime in here.

If you had someone come to you and say "I wanna be like you and do the things you do you would say… "ok go here first. Figure it out. and when your done, go here.

Alright As the title suggests, Dungeons Solo.

Somewhere in the pages is a compilation list of places that can be done solo. Due to game mechanics or what have you. The question I am asking more specifically is where do you start? When All of you High tier runners were getting the idea down. Building the builds, etc. Where do you go?

For someone who plays semi casually and in semi off hours. And wants to be able to run (insert random dungeon) solo because I feel like locking myself in a place and pretending my “obligations” don’t exist.
