Once upon a time, there was a guy who wanted to improve his solo Lupi kill. Out of boredom, the guy invited his two friends over to goof off. One of his friend, out of boredom, decided to clean up the area outside of Lupi’s arena. Since then, mesmer never looks the same to me as before.

Sort of a sidenote, but to whomever claims or thinks that warriors are top DPS in the game, I’d just like to point out that if you follow Ivan’s link here, you’ll see a video of 5 warriors killing Lupicus in 51 seconds. Not too bad!

5x Elementalist: 17 seconds
5x Mesmer: 27 seconds
5x Guardian: 37 seconds (numbers ending in 7 are apparently popular!)

I’m a little surprised thieves were behind (73s). Maybe hard to backstab him against the wall? Too much time spent trying not to die? Both? They didn’t shine in this little experiment, in any case. Necros came in at 118s. Engineers managed a 69s run. That puts Warriors pretty much dead center in the middle of the pack.
Edit: obviously against a boss who can’t be nuke-reflected as hard as Lupicus these numbers would likely be very different (particularly the Mesmer count, as Lupi just BLOWS UP when they feedback him), but hey, damage is damage.

Where you see “lack of build variety” , I see freedom. did you know that you can complete anything in Tyria with any build and any gear set.
I have 4 sets of Armour on ONE of my characters. and I change the build around on it frequently, Because I can.

I keep finding myself running along side havocs and zergs and mostly just camping staff and flashing DS.
wondered about some strength runes and sigil for Might procs. and just marking the ground. Condies although usefull, of course you have a helluva time trying to keep them ticking.

I don’t know that it is competitive viable, but a lot of the perceived weaknesses can be worked around and if you know how to rotate and force fights you can be a huge pain in the kitten .
you know i think thats really the nuts and bolts to it.
the “meta” for at least pvp is so well documented that it can really just come down to us as Necromancers and finding those skills and or a play style that not only works but we also enjoy playing. It not about what we DONT have. its about what we DO have and how to make it work.

Ah! And my more memorable battle was one where, by dumb luck, our party were 4 necros and 1 guardian. To see the our minions on stampede against our enemies was just beautiful.

What is glorious to me when I play a Necromancer, when we actually play as a team, is when I outplay my opponent… I know that Necromancers have followed a cycle of nerfs (debatably worse than Mesmer), yet there is no such thing as “impossible” when fighting a 1v1 or a 2v2…
I am reliable as a Necromancer on the team despite of what people say about the class – and only on my Ele or Warrior do I feel as comfortable playing one for the team!
Screw the ToL setups, forget about Necromancer’s being the weakest link in a teamfight – make it work and bathe in the tears of an enemy, knowing that they got outplayed…

I managed to Solo her the other day it was only a level 20 but it was a rough fight. Yes you can Shroud the shot it seems. just barely though.

I have been PLaying a bit with Leeto’s Dagger Shroud build in sPvP a bit and some in WvW. just cant seem to get the hang of it. But Condi seems so out of it with all of the removal everywhere? Is Power becoming a dominant concept? or is it just me that needs to be more open to adjustments based upon my chosen field of battle.
I struggle with every class right now. But it seems GS memsers have been particularly irritating.

for me at least, It depends on the path. and then knowledge of the path. Generally i still keep 6,6, and then float the 2 points for different encounters. Such as path 2 Belka, i put the 2 in SA for the condi removal. But i generally fight her double dagger vs the pistol dagger suggestion in the other thread.
for Lupi there are a couple different ways to go I think, taking x,x,x,3,3 for the Vigor on dodge and the extra initiative is the defensive and safer route. but that will ultimately depend on how you want to run it.
nuts and bolts to it. Because of the ability to change traits on the fly it has opened up so many variances to the world its just up to you to experiment with it and learn more about what you are getting into and what you can do to mitigate the threat.
if you come across a specific thing you are struggling with, come back here and see what they have to say about that specific thing. and go from there.
regardless though. GOOD LUCK!!! is good times in there.

I have seen a bunch that are really mostly for laughs. But yes a “speed clear” is not really possible with 5 of the same class.
however doing them for good times and amusement is all good. You could get it posted to GWSCR in the “alternate” section. could be fun.
Or you could always do what I did and offer up a bunch of gold and prizes for a clear with a ruleset of your choice.

I spent an hour dueling an amazing d/p thief that nailed down headshot to perfection. Almost anything an everything I did was denied including healing. It was sexy and humbling at the same time xD

the more i think about it. i am begining to wonder if NEcromancers And Engineers were orginally created to be WvW classes. Everything about them fits very well into the large scale “warfare” type.

sword is multi target slightly less damage.

the overwrite of regen etc. that brings up a good point. Given that a “healer” type character is really only effective in WvW. That is something to really take into account.
a faster burst styled heal would be far more effective. particularly if you have a handful of people doing it.

The reason I asked is I was speculating on a possible group heal specced character using the new nomad’s armor stats. However, since healing is secondary, maybe Cleric’s or Apothecary’s might be better, depending on the class.

Being a group styled “healer” for a small army (zerg) is very useful. however take some hard looking at healing power and if it even scales with your chosen skills. You may be better off with just a soldier set, or even knights.
Banner Regen Warriors are a very interesting support set up for large groups in WvW I personally think. Not only does your banners have a helpfull regen. but hey suddenly everyone is hitting harder with your conveniently placed banner of discipline and strength.

Combat is very one dimensional and somewhat shallow in the game.
In pve zerker meta and pew pew something stacked until it’s dead.
Pvp you have a few more options but everything in this game is indeed judged and rewarded by how much dps you do.
All else is an after thought.
