Diving platform guy, krait oil guy, lighthouse keeper guy, and a couple of the karma merchants are definitely dead. One of the bartenders, too.
When I logged in yesterday and wandered through LA a bit, I was hit hard by how much the aftermath felt like my personal experience with Ground Zero, and the actual losses that happened to me there. I eventually had to leave the game for awhile, as it still hits a bit too close personally.
Regardless, a big /salute to ArenaNet for nailing this part.
Somehow I had never thought about it that way. I can imagine that would be quite striking and would hit pretty hard.
Pretty much every mob in the game is able to be fought melee. However, you can’t just faceroll them all. You need to use your skills (stability and condition removal especially), and you need to know how to dodge. Pretty much every problem you listed can be taken care of by careful watching, dodging, and skill use.
The barrier at the start of SE p3 isn’t new. You’ve had to break part of it for a while now.
You’re confusing the barriers before the second boss with this.
No, I’m not. I’m talking about the very first set of barriers. BUT any groups I’ve run SE p3 with lately have just broken down part of the gate and barrier automatically. So, I haven’t tried to skip past it. That could be why I’d never seen it as skippable.

You took only three players into a dungeon that says five players are recommended. You’re also, as you said, new to the game, as were the other people in your party. Thus, you don’t know how to play your class fully yet, and you don’t understand the mechanics of the dungeon (which is fine because everyone starts off not knowing how it goes).
It seems like this is a simple of case of needing to learn to play, as well as actually making sure you have a full group for dungeons until you know them well enough. Next time, try to find someone (either in guild or through LFG) who knows the dungeon well enough to tell you what to expect. And check out the guides other people posted above.
No cut scene for me, either.
Will ascended components be available?

You’ll be able to buy them on the TP, but I don’t know how the prices will be for them.
I thought I read somewhere that the airships the aetherblades are using were actually stolen FROM the pact.
We almost had that happen to us once. Luckily, it happened a minute or so before the knight fight started, and it was a TTS run; so, we melted down the cannoneer pretty quickly.
The menders don’t even spawn in the water or anywhere near the blue knight anymore. I don’t know how someone would have dragged one that far. That’s impressive.
Six Minutes to Knightfall STILL bugged.

Yup, was there, and no achievement. Just take the achievement out and award everyone 5 AP or something.
Stability takes care of the chain knockdown, and as a guard, you definitely have options for stability. Do a bit of melee, especially during burn phases, and then move back to ranged if your stability is on cooldown.
It is in the forum. Go to the Patch Notes section, and scroll down to the latest entry.
Alpha is basically the same in both p2 and p3. It’s only path 1 that’s different (super easy mode).
Blue Knight gets healed from 40% to 100%

The menders always come from the south side of the statue (the part leading to the bridge to Fort Mariner). It’ll be a group of four or five of them. So, watch for them next time, and designate yourself as Mender Killer if you don’t see anyone else around there. It could very well be something else causing them to heal, but hell if I know. Bleh.
Knights are too much of a gate to Scarlet now

Anet managed to suck all the fun out of a previously fun event by designing it around TTS. Catering to a single guild is not a good idea. Most open world events especially overflows are massive unorganized PuGs with no voice communication.
This kind of DPS race and coordination requirement belongs in instanced dungeons. Not open world events.
How have they designed it around TTS? TTS was zerging the knights down, one by one, before the change.
And yeah, for the record, CD main failed every time I was around for it today. One random overflow succeeded, as did a TTS run. But yeah, many mains are having issues.
So, Blue regened after patch... nice

You don’t have to coordinate someone to do it; you can do it yourself.
That being said, I agree that it’s bull that something like that can ruin the whole run.
When TTS did Teq earlier tonight (about two and a half hours ago), it didn’t do this. It worked just fine. However, there have been bugs before tonight, off and on.
ETA: We were on Eradon Terrace for it, just FYI.
*Spoilers* why(hiccup) did u guy (hiccup) add the hicup?

That’s been a character trait of Kasmeer since the Nightmare Tower. Kasmeer hiccups when she’s nervous. Marjory commented on it at one point.
We had this happen to us just now on Crystal Desert. So disappointing.
Yeah, we had this happen, as well. It went from about 30% health to FULL health. We would have won if that hadn’t happened.
What? I didn’t see anything mention that.
Can I suggest a mini taimi available to all with a portion of profits going to a multiple sclerosis related charity?
This. So much this.
I think that’d be a great idea, too.
You’re welcome. Hope you get it done!
It usually pops up every time on Crystal Desert main.
Dulfy has one. Check that site.
The achievement is only for 30 of them, and there are more than 30 rubble locations inside Lion’s Arch. So, it won’t be a problem.
So which NPCs are you still looking for?

The sewer access points are all still open, from what I saw, but no npcs at all were down there. And yeah, I keep trying to find my skritt friends. I’m very sad that they’ve not turned up so far.
Yup. Miasma isn’t resetting on Crystal Desert, either. The last time I was in, around two hours ago, we saved over 700; however, none of the tiered loot was given to anyone.
So you’re busy ensuring your escort has the swiftness to flee from his assailants (instead of just killing them), then what? Give him some prot? Then what? Cleanse him? I’ll give you three, maybe four GCDs that you’ll be supporting an NPC, and what else? Do you just hug him?
You have all the time in the world that you could be autoattacking as well. Just because support and control are aspects of the game, it does not dictate that you should tunnel-vision to support or control exclusively, because everyone has control, everyone has support, and everyone has damage.
So what’s your excuse for not actually contributing an offense when you’re not actually contributing a defense? Why have a PhD in giving escorts swiftness, but continue on by ignoring your weapon skills? It clearly doesn’t help you, or the people around you.
Or you need to work on your rotations and stop taking a day to fumble between utilities and weapon sets.
The example the person gave was a guild challenge where one player is holding an item. The rest of the guild/group has to keep that player alive by killing the karka and protecting the player (if the player holding the item gets downed, you fail the challenge). Since the player can’t give himself swiftness, other players help out by granting protection/heals/swiftness. So, if you get put on protection duty, you’re going to be near that player, while your teammates are keeping the mobs away from said player. If you’re on that job, it can be kind of difficult to tag anything.
However, I will say that unless you’re in a very small guild, there should be more than one person available to help protect and boost the person, which means you can easily toss some aoes at or even just auto-attack a normal mob or two or three.
Try going back in the instance on your ranger, and look for journal fragments on the tables in the lair. If there aren’t any, you could try guesting onto a larger server around reset time (I’d recommend getting there at least 30 minutes before reset) for marionette; as long as you defeat one chain, you’ll get some of the cypher fragments.
However, you won’t be missing out if you can’t finish the journal; it won’t block your Living Story access or progress if you don’t get all the pieces. You could look up on the wiki to see what the journal says.
I know there is auto loot…. but you still have to spam F or some other assigned key to collect it.
You don’t have to spam it if you wait until after a battle is done (or for a lull in the battle). Then you just press your auto-loot button once, and you’re done, since auto-loot collects all the loot from corpses around you. Having one of my side mouse buttons set for it makes it really convenient, because I can just periodically click it while still using the mouse to move around or ground-target things.
I’ve done it a handful of times, usually to just get it done for my alts and/or to help out guildies. But I have to agree with the OP. When I first started this game, the fact that I had to do a dungeon to complete my PERSONAL story really bugged me. I didn’t get Arah story done until about two months after I finished the rest of my story on my main just because I didn’t like the notion of being forced to do group content for it. Obviously, I eventually got it done, just because I was tired of seeing the text on the right side of the screen forever.
I would really love to see a solo option for it, or a really easy version of the dungeon that COULD be soloable.
You can auto-loot. It’s in your settings. And you can just set up a key or a mouse button that’s in easy access to do it. I have one of my side mouse buttons set to auto-loot.
Trope is trope, indeed.
In the livestream about Taimi, the team said that Taimi is a genius (even at her young age of 13 she built that golem she uses for protection and transportation) likely on par with Snaff and Zojja. Definitely not an airhead or idiot. She is a child, though, so she certainly lacks maturity.
I started all of mine to have one of each class, so that I could learn about them all and to also see the different story lines each race has to offer. Now, most of them just sit in random places unless I decide to use them for dailies (which happens fairly often). I switch between my necro (my main), warrior, and guardian for dungeons and world events.
As Orangensaft said above, you could delete all of your characters (or your friend could delete all of theirs) and then change your server to the other person’s server. Or you could very easily just guest onto eachother’s servers.
Do note that if one of you is on an EU server and the other on a US server, you can’t guest.
You don’t have to send in video proof.
Anet tends to do the bot account bans in big waves. So, there might be some time between your bot reports and action being taken.
You can only have a stack of 250 things. That’s why you can only buy 250 of an item at a time. It can be fairly inconvenient, but that’s how it is. :\
Yup. My overflow was lagging like mad during Marionette, and my guildies in CD main and elsewhere were also lagging.
I’m looking at the statue in LA right now in-game, and I don’t really see any light beams on it.
Back when the game first went in, you pretty much had to do at least some wvw (even if it was just going in and grabbing JP chests) to make a legendary because that was the only way to get your badges of honor. Once they added the AP chests with their copious amounts of badges of honor, you suddenly didn’t have to even set foot in wvw to get your Gift of Battle. I’m pretty sure that’s not what they were wanting (which seems to be definite, since they added the rank requirement now).
The game wants you to be well-rounded in nearly all aspects of it in order to create a legendary. And I don’t really have a problem with that. They want you to have run enough dungeons, done enough wvw, leveled at least the required crafting to make a portion of your legendary, gathered enough skill points, etc. I think it’s only fair that they have a wvw requirement. Just be glad they don’t make you do spvp, wvw, and pve for it.
They’ve been hinting at it for a while now. I think of it as just another couple. As for their future, I think one of them will either die or turn evil.

As pho said, the backpack (or other starter armor/weapon/clothing items you may get when you make a character) is not part of your character’s look. The only things you can change are hair color, hair style, face, body type, etc.
Well, I only have one Ascended weapon so far. I don’t plan to make another. I also don’t plan to make a full set of armor for any of my 8 level 80s. It’s just way too expensive and time-consuming.
There’s already a candy cane hammer.
