According to the wiki, there are certain traits can bug when you are hit by the basilisk’s beam causing you do apply that damage to yourself. I don’t know if it’s the same as your issue here, but it could be.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Basilisk
“Should your character have Traits equipped that refer to stunning or interrupting they’ll be triggered by the Petrifying Beam. For example: Chaotic Interruption or Distracting Strikes both will work against you.”
It’s a bug that happens with all outfits, not just the ancestral one. I haven’t seen any dev response to the issue. :\
SO, gonna bump this dead thread ‘cause there’s some stuff on here that looks like it hasn’t been addressed…
Why are there NO lower forms of this potion? It’s the first dun, shouldn’t there be some low level pots for lvl 35s that wana run it? Shouldn’t some pots drop in the dungeon?
Also, all the other vendors sell pots for 1 Token, along with the recipe. Catacombs armor vendor sells the recipe, but not the pots for 1 Token. Why in the world not?
The only ghost you kill in AC exp is Kholer, and he’s skipped by a majority of groups. So, the potion for ghost slaying would be pretty much useless. However, you do kill a few ghosts in AC story; so it’d kind of make sense for those to be available for that, at least.
So i’ve been trying out necromancer… Man, that bleed stacking! Scepter/dagger… Everything dies so fast!
And skills that are more effective the more conditions target has! This class seems to have been built around the use of conditions!
Fun to play!
But i can’t figure out how to deal conditions with an engineer… Do i need traits for that? Because on necro, the weapon skills themselves just deal tons of conditions…
Engineers’ best attacks are their kits. Grenades, bombs, turrets, etc. All damage and lots of conditions.
I already had the slickpack from the LS. So, I went panda, dolyak tonic, and the two helm skins I didn’t have. And now I have nothing to spend my tokens on, except t6 bags.
Rolling Stones’ “Shattered” for Shatterer

The condition set I have on my necro for wvw is carrion (condition damage, power, vitality). There’s also rabid (condition damage, precision, toughness) and dire (condition damage, vitality, toughness). I’d skip out on dire, personally.
Necromancer and engineer are the biggest condition classes. Ranger would be after those two. However, condition isn’t going to be that great for PvE, especially when it comes to group content.
I love necromancer. She’s my main, and she was my first character in game. They’re really fun to level. They can also do great damage if you do power or zerker builds with them. However, they’re not good for group because they just can’t offer much in the way of support or boons to your party. I use my necro for occasional pve stuff (including dungeons), with a zerker/DS build; but I also have a condition set of armor/trinkets for when I take her into wvw.
Engineer can be very good. They can give tons of might to the party, help do group stealth, do good damage, etc. But they’re one of the harder classes to master (tied with ele, in my opinion, for most difficult). They’re worth giving a try, though.
Hm. I didn’t have any trouble getting mine done. The ones I did were:
Morgan’s Leap
Dark Reverie
Spekk’s Laboratory
Weyandt’s Revenge
Urmaug’s Secret
Demongrub Pits
Vizier’s Tower
Shaman’s Rookery
Shattered Ice Ruins
Skipping Stones
Under New Management
Not So Secret
I do remember hearing complaints from people about Troll’s End last month, including for daily puzzle jumper.
Keep in mind that repeated trips to the same one don’t count.
Redemption is my absolute favorite yellow/gold.
I did 10 sets last night (of the recipe for 10). I got fifty clovers.
RNG is RNG.
Also works for me.
That’s a really interesting definition… so… this is stacking?
Your illustration made me think of this. I think this is an effective fighting stance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnTR-cG5W1I
I’ve definitely gotten pepper from trees (seeing as pepper grows in trees) and bay leaves too. I’ve been on a logging bender as I need lots of wood for ascended crafting
You must be mistaken. You can’t get herbs or peppercorns from trees in game. You can get bay leaves from certain supply bags that drop, but that’s the only place you’ll find them other than Herb Seedling or Young Herb nodes.
Yes, I certainly agree that one can win the race without using any of the offensive skills. I just take issue with people (not necessarily you) being surprised when other players do use the offensive skills (even if they’re just using them arbitrarily to get them off their bar) when they get them.
It happens in PVE, too.
Have you tried going into Offline mode when you’re playing? You could also try moving to a different instance of a map by either just relogging or logging out, guesting to another server, and then logging back into the map on that server.
There’s not much anet can do about a person who just follows you around in game. I realize it’s unsettling and very annoying to you, but they really can’t do anything about it. :\ They can’t exactly make it so your character physically becomes invisible to those you’ve blocked.
Oh yeah. See, I didn’t bother actually reading the first post, so I missed the aesthetic request. In that case:
Mesmer (the starter masks are creepy as all hell)
Necro
Ranger
Everything else
There’s a thread over in the Bug subforum about this, and apparently they’re looking into it.
Be care-, be care-, be care-, be care-, be careful!
When I was running GW2 on my old computer, I would often get the random, loud, heart attack-inducing bang. However, ever since I upgraded to a newer computer (back in December), I think I’ve had it happen maybe once or twice.
Conversely, there has so far been exactly one instance of someone else winning the lead from me due to constant harrassment through offensive skills.
Using the skills the race gives you does not denote harassment. Harassment would be if someone is getting the offensive skill items, parking somewhere to watch you, and then only using them when they see you’re coming up to a jump.
World event as in like the Shatterer,Tequatl, etc.? Because NOTHING drops loot i believe in those events.
They do drop – sorry you are wrong. You actually need to do damage to them in order to get drops, just not be in the area.
You obviously do not play the game.
He means that the mobs themselves, in the case of Shatterer or Tequatl or Shadow Behemoth (just as examples), do not drop loot that you can get from their corpses. And he’s right.
I too am not sure what the issue is . . .
Conditionmancers are sought after for condi teams to take down husks at Evolved Jungle Wurm. Sadly, that’s just about the only time they’re sought after. :\
Assuming they people are using good builds/attacks, I’d vote:
Engi
Necro
Ele
Mesmer
Everyone else
Conditions are, sadly, mostly useless in pve. Go more for power/zerker.
Yeah, that doesn’t sound like a good idea. As others have already said, having high AP doesn’t necessarily mean you’re swimming in gold. Also, those with lots of gold sometimes will make a big purchase (precursor or other big ticket item) and suddenly have very, very little gold. It just doesn’t seem like it’d work out very well.
thanks all for your help !! just one more thing .. sigils matters? like if it has one or if its empty
Yes, sigils matter, and some are better than others. And you can replace a sigil in a weapon if you don’t like the one it comes with.
I had the precursors for both Meteorologicus and Minstrel at the same time. I ultimately went with the scepter, even though I rarely use scepter on any character, because I just think it’s a better-looking legendary. The Minstrel wasn’t given nearly enough love by the design team, and so it’s just not worth the cost (in my opinion).
However, in terms of usefulness, focus is the better option.
It’s world environmental weekend. Some guild are handling out green quaggan to do the green quaggan march.
I wonder what event is used for pink and black quaggan.
Pink will probably be in October, for breast cancer awareness.
Use food. Find a food close to your level that gives you extra power and whatnot. Also, use focusing crystals/maintenance oils/sharpening stones that are close to your level. Make sure your gear is all as close to your level as possible, and try to make sure it isn’t a Healing Power main stat (go for something with Power as a primary stat). Grab some minor sigils for your weapons to help boost your dps.
Since you’re a necro, if you have Signet of Spite, make sure you have it running. I’d also suggest Well of Suffering, if you have it unlocked. If you’re staying alive ok, you could try using Blood is Power; that 10 stacks of might can be useful. And I’d recommend having at least one weapon set having dagger in mainhand; focus or dagger would be ok choices for offhand (I generally prefer dagger over focus for Halmi because of the blind with dagger 4). Axe 2 is also pretty good damage.

It could be worse. You could be making the Minstrel.
If you want exotic berserker gear, you should run CoF (Citadel of Flame), CoE (Crucible of Eternity), or Arah. Those three dungeons offer exotic berserker gear. CoF is very fast and very easy. CoE is easy once you know the mechanics of its bosses. Arah is the toughest dungeon in the game.
And what you need to do is run the dungeons to get tokens. Each dungeon drops a specific type of token. You can trade the tokens in for gear and weapons.
Panda panda panda.
K, he’s what you need to do if you want to farm the world events.
1. Play your guardian. It’s just better in open world pve. Staff 1 is ezmode aoe tagging, scepter works when you need to range something like when the megadestroyer is sitting in the lava, greatsword or sword for single targets. You also have access to easy stability and blocks to avoid annoying things like fears and knockbacks.
2. Zerker gear. Conditions don’t do anything when you already have 50+ people automatically applying burning and bleeding to the cap. Soldier gear is technically equivalent on targets you can’t crit, like the shatterer, but there’s no real reason to have tanky gear when you shouldn’t be taking much damage and have 50+ people there to revive you if you get downed anyway.
3. Don’t ask for a party, click on people and invite them and say lfm. Take the initiative, you will get a group.
Yup, I’d recommend all of that.
For those big world events I’d recommend being in a party. Being in a party usually means you’ll get loot from the mobs.
You only get the rewards for each path once a day. So, you’ll only get the chest loot once per day.
Check your Character Model Quality settings. If they’re set to Low or Lowest, then you won’t see any detail of the players around you; instead you’ll see a default image of the creepy people with white armor. As for the hitting move when they heal, yeah, that also happens when settings are set low.
I would kill for a Mini Lupi.
forgot where i read it, but it could be the total dmg dealt, not the dmg per hit/tick.
Yes, that.
The Open World lfg is constantly filled with “NEED GOLD BB TAXI”. Of course some people are going to step in and find a way to make a profit off of it. They’re not breaking any rules, and any people who choose to join those parties have themselves to blame for encouraging the practice.
Don’t like it? Don’t join those parties, and move on.
It’s just a glitch with the numbers. Your damage isn’t actually increasing.
I think Marionette is definitely closer to the difficulty of Tequatl and Evolved Wurm. So, I honestly think it’d be good to pull Karka Queen out of it’s “mega boss” tier (where it really shouldn’t belong, seeing as how it’s far easier than the other two in that tier) and replace it with Marionette.
Dungeon gear is very salvageable. Karma and wvw armor, obviously, are not.
I have 7 alts but am expected to buy one for each if I want the permanent tool for each… (around 80 bucks for the picks and 240 for all 3 tools for each).
They made those tools account bound so people wouldn’t have to buy one for each alt . . . And they gave refunds to people who DID buy multiples for alts before the change.
Are you using a crafting guide? Either way, huntsman is going to be fairly pricey (just like the others) because of the cost of materials and inscriptions (if you follow guides).
Yes, you’re only supposed to be able to choose one boost from the new booster.
And for the record, I agree: it’s not worth it.
I got one from Sanctum Sprint. I got three from Dolyak Race/Crystal Collection.
