“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
All areas are scaled, so don’t worry about that. But you might outgrow the potential rewards (armour) of the storyline. Still check them out for the look though.
The xp reward is nice though for personal story. I would say don’t worry about it and just venture and do what you feel like doing.
Draconic or Orrian maybe? Nothing absolutely the same though.

It’s simply bad sport.
You might like EVE – stealing is a meta game there. But if you want to make the news you’ll have to make it big as the bar is raised pretty high, so be prepared to invest a year or so for your scam.
Bear in mind that only the female version glows. The male T2 light does not have any glow at all. Rather disappointing, though it still looks cool anyway.
It does leave a fair amount of your skin showing (especially in the back), however, and that of course glows as Sylvari skin does.
It looks awesome, very nice on the front. Check out the sylvari screenshot thread, I just posted my jalapeno

At least that’s what I’m used to.
Asura Ranger Gloing (bouncy fellow) with Bob, some studies.
As far as the lost items go I would have liked less randomness. Sure at the end of the day it looks and feels like a fetch quest, but instead of alt-tabbing a guide to check all possible locations I would rather have something like this:
“We were running for our lives and had just made it to the Wayfarer Foothills going west as they were suddenly closing in on us. We managed to hide in a cavern north and managed to defeat the spiders living there. Once we felt it was safe we continued our trek south but my daughter must have lost here favourite sleeping doll in that cave. She won’t stop crying about it …”
Whether or not some people will read that and try following the hints or just use the online guide or ask in mapchat is up to each individual then. But it sure beats running around or worse, trying to pick up the first item one found again. That’s a grrr moment for me and takes away from the story.
Why not even have the option to talk to a toymaker or the like and make the kid happy with something new? Give my hero different angles to approach the situation – just remembered those tracker dogs for one heart – could have one of those to find the toy(s).
Other than that perhaps try to add more and more refugees each week in the cities. Would add a sense of “Hey, this seems to be getting worse and worse!”
Looking forward to the main part(s) of the story
Best I could do, ‘tis what happens if you don’t separate the whites from the colours.

I don’t know but I did read something a tad bit helpful yesterday in a Forbes article that was an actual interview with Anet’s Isaiah Cartwright. He alluded to the fact that there were already enough currencies in place and that the future would be more about polishing the reward systems.http://www.forbes.com/sites/carolpinchefsky/2013/03/12/has-guild-wars-2-become-too-complicated/
EDIT: for those interested and/or not inclined to read the whole article, the part I spoke of is on page 2.
Definitely more detailed then the link I posted – thanks!
Gelzar, the four armed dredge mutant out of the groznev delve sewers. Bam!
Makes you wonder if it’s still coming. Although if it’s directly tied to achievement points then it is not really a new “reward system” – just the rewards would be new.

Edit – sorry it’s not good news, but I’m sure they will rectify this and at least it’s not you alone.
(…)
Um, the post that you quoted does admit that there should be a confirmation, as do most of the posters in this thread, including me.Sadly ANet will not -and should not- do anything about this issue. They have no business messing with guild matters whatsoever, for any reason. Yes, I’ve read this entire thread and while I sympathize with the OP, I don’t see any reason for Support to intervene. It wasn’t a hacked account, or a bug, or anything else that caused this issue. Yes, as we’ve all already established, there should be better controls to keep a guild leader from inadvertently giving up that role.
What if the OP stepped down as leader intentionally, but then changed her mind and now wants leadership back? How does Support know the actual circumstances, not just in this case but in any future requests they might receive asking for the same thing? All they have is the testimony of the affected person, which isn’t much to go on (no offense). That is my reasoning for why they shouldn’t intervene, and I think that is also their reasoning.
Understandable from your point of view. Points to consider:
a) The leader is not able to name a successor
b) Anet does not have to guess, they see that the automatically appointed new leader has not been and is not online.
c) The system is how it is for a fact, try it out yourself.
All you have is the testimony as you put it – certain reaction and impulses are only natural, but if you take a step back then you will see that the design/functionality is faulty.
It’s a grey zone, no question – which is exactly why there have to be better rules and why there is a need for a better functionality.
Take the usurp function in Lotro for example, the possibility to name a successor.
See the link to the official reply in regards to the leader being banned further up (thread page 3) – there would even be no guess work from Anet there.

Glad to hear the T2 light glows – that’s the one I have in mind
It’s kind of teasing though lol.
Nothing against the new clothing but honestly, there is a sailors beanie, why not a sailors outfit? The flying cappy, the circus hat etc.

That’s just in your head, those doodles look great – also they are called doodles, right?
Slight criticism though, next time we need to see a doughnut on the table and the coffee has to be black. Unless gasp it’s not even coffee!
Too situational for me and the space, agreed.
Dulfy just put up a gallery for daggers, alternatively check out argos.

I could envision the following, gold between all characters shared (similar to laurels), bank tab still separate. Would eliminate the shuffeling back and forth – in line the the collectibles. Could be seen negatively as enticement to “spend more”. Gotta be careful.
I am very likely not going to buy another town outfit, simply because I hardly ever use it. They just end up taking space in inventory (or the items I had to take off instead).
Edit: Armour on the other hand that I would see more often … yes please.
Perhaps you are approaching the region from a different side and the mobs are higher due to that? Hearts in that area are level 15 and 17, you should not encounter lvl 24 mobs. Are you exiting the Black Citadel to the north?
Happy to help
@ Psientist – hehe, I call that Denglish (deutsch/english), still can’t picture it but sounds intriguing.
@ Conncept – wasn’t from Colin then, I checked his post history before posting and after your post again
I haven’t played GW1, perhaps something like the HoM rewards? I don’t really mind currencies, but a little more direct might be nice, although I’m not sure how they would solve the infinite repeatable points then (unless they take them away).
Guess we’ll have to wait and see what’s in store. Hopefully it will be more an account based reward instead if a character reward so as to ease the mind of the “no love for alts” people.
Won’t be able to reply here for a while in a few minutes – what is “gestaltish”, or what do you mean by that?
No dragon? you leave me no choice… behold the Killer Jackalope of Caerbannog!
Harrharr – now imagine the angle of your original picture – how the mighty jackalope pounces onto you, claws extended!
Very nice art here.
It was probably perfectly clear for Colin
Well I guess that leaves two viewpoints
Laurels only for dailies/monthlies – no ties to achievement system otherwise, instead something different will (hopefully?) be coming.
Laurels only for dailies/monthlies starting at that point in time, not retroactively – further rewarded retroactively for achievements already accomplished.
I personally would be fine with leaving it at laurels, but who knows what else is in store for us, might even be better. Could not think of anything right this very second though.
Create a second character with the desired starter mask. Transmute it to another low level item – now becomes account bound – put it in your bank, take it with your main character.
Worked fine for me with the necromancers wraith mask.
I understand where you are coming from, however I read “new reward system” as a mechanic – and not a new currency, especially when read in context comparing previous daily achievements not counting and repeated achievements not counting.
Otherwise I have not seen any mention of yet another currency.
@ DungeonDaughter – one would hope that they took that into consideration when they announced the potential? This is I guess where it makes more sense to go by achievement itself instead of the amount of achievement points, as they are a fixed number. But alone the slayer category has almost 40 achievements with mostly 4 tiers. Would sound lot’s if every tier counts, maybe only the last tier per category?
I don’t know how it will be done, never said that – we just know that achievement points (already) earned will count towards it (unless infinite category). Definitely not against one laurel per achievement itself. Would definitely reward people to play another race as well if every personal story achievement awards one laurel?
Btw, I’m not asking for anything, just thought it’s a topic of interest especially since some people seem to be discouraged of creating multiple characters.
According to this
I’m sure I read somewhere that the achievement points we already have from previous dailies and monthlies will be taken into account with this update, so some of us will already have some currency to spend?
Laurels are only earned through daily and monthly achievements (starting with the feb monthly) and will not reward for previous daily/monthly achievements completed since folks didn’t know this system was coming.
We will however introduce an expanded/new reward system in the future that will reward for other types of achievements, this system will reward previous achievement points earned. (But may require bringing back into line some infinitely repeatable achievements that would bloat/break this system)
if that idea is still coming, achievement points will to some degree reward laurels. What made me think of this again was reading more and more comments along the line “we are not encouraged to create alts”. Do you think this might help alleviate that feeling? What could the conversion rate be, 100:1 (achievement points:laurels)?
This is a bit from another universe, but maybe some can still laugh about it (comic #380)

I do think that the average survival rate of the bunnies is higher …
I have one Necromancer who is just waiting to wear this one day.
I don’t understand your logic. Apparently they are working on their technical limitations, so let’s hope they find a better solution that will improve those encounters. That I hope we can agree on.
Well, that’s what I’m saying – why do you think then that eliminating the loot totally would be a “solution” – and worse, at what cost?
There needs to be something added (mechanics, technical/server, maybe story) – not taken away.
I think once you remove loot from these encounters you remove the players who are only attending these events for loot.. and I am perfectly fine with them not being there.
(…)
Well, I’m sorry, but that’s a pretty egocentric view and not likely in the interest of the game. Scale the events so they get “harder”/more complex as more people participate sure, saying I want only people who share my sense of adventure being there – simply doesn’t work in an MMO.
OP even acknowledged that the situation was like this before even when the loot was mediocre – but that is not a complaint because – there was no overflow.
Why do people seem to believe that nobody visited these events prior to the February loot patch? Because that was certainly not my experience. I could show up at any dragon event and find close to 30 people standing there waiting anytime in the past few months. And even then they weren’t there for the dragon, they were there hoping they’d score a rare or better. You could tell by the amount of griping that went on about unlucky loot post-kill.
I guess maybe some of you didn’t bother with these events prior to the February patch, but you’re mistaken if you’re assuming crowds weren’t already camping them. All the patch change did was make it more worthwhile, and I guess lure some stubborn holdouts out of the woodwork.
Well, that’s what I’m saying – why do you think then that eliminating the loot totally would be a “solution” – and worse, at what cost?
There needs to be something added (mechanics, technical/server, maybe story) – not taken away.
Edit: To your edit – I’ve read your op a few times – again I don’t find your solution of making the events uninteresting for people who don’t share your sense of enjoyment viable. I even agree with you (the sentiment of adventure vs pinata)! I would love the whole mechanic to be changed in some way, said that a few times now – but definitely not by taking away.
(edited by Rouven.7409)
Hehe – well, define simple grin. Rytlock-as-Van-Goth-missing-his-ear, or Queen-Jenna-as-Mona-Lisa simple?
Just surprise us, I enjoy your doodles very much – so a thank you here at this point
That’s too funny. Was thinking about this this morning in regards to your other doodle thread. I thought, huh, haven’t seen a drawing of the dredge and then had the picture of Tusken Raiders in my head, preparing an ambush – snipers. Translate that to a cavern with dredge, watching the heroes enter …
@ killcannon – agreed, but that part hasn’t really changed, right?
The only thing that has changed is the fact that they are now a tad more popular because of the loot – especially the shadow behemoth since it has a very unique drop.
Which is why this comes up now (or maybe more then before and is more interesting), because it’s more visible. Before – done that, ok, nothing all to special, lag etc – ok, won’t go out of my way to go there again. I’m all for changing the events/fights to become more interesting and flowing nicer – but it’s no argument to make them not drop loot or make them entertaining only a fraction of the population.
I would love to see these world events entertaining only a fraction of the crowds they attract now (who are there for all the wrong reasons). I choose quality over quantity every time. This whole loot pinata thing is just ruining the entire sense of adventure this game was supposed to have. I’ll even suggest that it’s introducing elements that are counter to the philosophy of the game. Those bosses are like open-world resources, and we’re now practically competing over them as we fight to see who can out-camp whom, with the loser ending up cursing on an overflow map. And not because we care about the boss or the event, but because we want that loot drop.
The only complaint there is in this thread – I (or my friends) end up in overflow because others where there before me (or my friends) and I (friends) don’t want to wait 20 minutes. Because if you (and friends) would be “adventuring” on the map already – you (and friends) would not have this problem.
OP even acknowledged that the situation was like this before even when the loot was mediocre – but that is not a complaint because – there was no overflow.
Yes it’s not ideal and I believe they are working on the capacity of the maps. I would love less lag, I would love a bit more variety in the fight – less pinata, for sure – but that hasn’t really changed – what should be looked at is scaling of the events.
The main premise though: Everyone get’s to see the dragon.
Bug section perhaps?
You do realize that this was (sort of) the situation before and for some reason or the other (but likely a good enough reason) it was changed. I think for some amount the current status will change and people already start doing other stuff again instead of waiting another 20 minutes for the boss.
What a wasted potential indeed if you designed those encounters and “no one” goes there or only once.
Not that I don’t like your idea, but partially it exists already, events, bosses that open up other maps – they are just not huge bosses and I don’t think they necessarily have to be.
Yes I get many, sometimes right after another its almost humorous :P
Good to know, so likely just a streak of bad luck, thanks.
