“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
We’re waiting for this update as the very basic element of making an unique character.
- New Hairstyles
- New Beardstyles
- New Body Textures (including more, different kind of muscle draw, patterns, and something that special for Humans there… we lack that special something!)
- New Tattoos
- Scale option for hair & beard (Like in AION or the best: APB)
- Unique upgrades for special dual/tricolors, irises.
And we hope when they release a +50 pack, they give us a free Total Makeover Kit each account.

As you see in a picture above, I done some mixing of the existing armors of the game.
These are painted Abyss, Black and Trandish. I wanted to keep ascalonian style elements, but decided to add some good pieces of other orders, as a sign of good connections and well selected gears. Raven/Ascalonian/Krytan weapons used.
- Guards: of the Stronghold. Their duty is to keep people safe and invest crimes.
- Archers: are the most skilled of whole Tyria. They keep their eyes on the distances, scouting for incomming dangers.
- Hunters: used to field duty, scouting enemy forces, gathering informations, taking special tasks when ordered. They work deep inside enemy territory.
- Soldiers: are the main force of Ebonhawke. On defending the hold, they’re a fearful legion to deal with.
- Mages: using any kind of magic to defend Ebonhawke. They’re smart, and taking huge slice of defending the citisens with illusions and elemental magic – in case they have casualities, they don’t fear to use death magic to increase their strenght…
- Captain Sylas: The ex-vigil soldier who left his order when he realised, his team sent to death without doubts – as a meaningless distraction.
- Commander Wulf: Nephew of Marek Reeven. He should lead our living story.
- Colonel LeRoy: Son of General Marek Reeven. He never doubles any order his father gives.
- General Marek: Head of the Reeven House. Never cares to get his hands dirty – if it means to defend Ebonhawke. He takes direct orders from the Queen herself.
I wish we should join to these orders/houses instead of the three orders…
Would be still possible, since there is a Pact, and no elder dragons yet.
The next: Lionguards

Sands of Death & House of Reeven | Stronghold of Ebonhawke
The Stronghold of Ebonhawke is an Ascalonian city in the foothills of the Blazeridge Mountains.
In 1080 AE, King Adelbern sent Gwen Thackeray and the Ebon Vanguard to the city of Ebonhawke in order to solidify supply lines to Ascalon City and to act as a last-ditch holdout position. When Gwen arrived, she fortified the city and withstood siege after siege. After the Foefire, Ebonhawke became the last place in Ascalon to be controlled by humans. The people who control this fortress are the last patriots of Ascalon, the rest of their countrymen having taken refuge in Kryta or turned into ghosts by the Foefire. The fortress is supplied by Divinity’s Reach through its asura gate, without which it would have most likely fallen already to the relentless attacks of the charr. Separating it from most of the charr-controlled lands is the Dragonbrand.
Prior to beginning of peace negotiations between the charr and humans, ever since the fall of Ascalon City, the charr laid siege to the fortress giving no rest until now. Over time, many charr thought the fortress is not worth the effort, so only the Iron Legion and a few individual warbands continued to attack the fortress with their siege weapons. These days the fortress sees most assaults coming from within, from the human Separatists and charr Renegades unsatisfied with the truce.
Spoiler alert: The following text contains spoilers relating to the story of Edge of Destiny.
In 1320 AE, Queen Jennah had the asura gate fixed after years of mismanagement and created a stronger alliance between Kryta and Ebonhawke, allowing refuge and support for those within the city fortress. During Kralkatorrik’s rise, the Elder Dragon passed nearby Ebonhawke on his way to the Crystal Desert. Once he passed, the freshly corrupted branded ogres and hyenas assaulted the fortress and decimated the charr warbands who laid siege at the time. Though the joined forces of the Seraph, Ebon Vanguard, and the charr prisoners led by Logan Thackeray managed to survive the assault, one hundred and thirty-three Seraph were killed, including Logan’s brother, Dylan. This event became known as the Ogre Revolt.
When played GW1, I was eager to see Ebonhawke. It sounded like a perfect place for me: The first line of defense. It was promised to shown, but never happened.
Now in Guild Wars 2, finally, we have it! The legendary Stronghold of Ebonhawke!
Since this is a suggestion threat, I’ll go straight to the points.
My current opinon:
- Looks “mismapped”, small, weak
- Nothing serious not happened there Yet
- Weak lore
So I wish to see changes in this. I took my inspirations from Game of Thrones & Skyrim.
My concepts on this place are simple. Since this is a place that should have strong meaning of humanity, the needed changes listed:
- ReMap it as shown in the original concept arts (by using living story lore)
- Redesign its forces
- Must happen when we can take our first footstep on Crystal Desert.
House of Reeven
Basicly, a noble family that sworn to keep Ebonhawke running and safe.
They’re very loyal to the Queen/King of Divinity’s Reach, and will sacriface their lives for the future of Tyria if needed.
Their emblem is a black Raven with silver beak, on a dark violet marker.
This family employs human sympathiser & prisoners on three condition:
- No crime commited against the royality.
- There is no way back.
- Good payment that can only be picked by the prisoner’s family when he/she is dead.
Ranks within the stronghold
- Travellers
- Traders, Merchants
- Citisens & Peasants
- Mercenaries of House Reeven
- House of Reeven

(edited by RoyalPredator.9163)
IMO: An MMO must have at least ~100 armor skin of each type, each weight.
We won’t have so mutch new skins now, but we really hope that they’re making mutch more shortly.
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
My crit chance is around 50-70%, depending on buffs.
I can shoot rapid fire with less than two critical hit.
As far as I see: The higher chance values you got, the less real chance you got.
Same problems at Magic Find.
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
Wolfield, your asuran looks brilliant! This is exactly how an Alchemy-user Ranger kind should look like! Added to my best user armor collection!
Now I’m asking all of you: What about a topic, where we can post photoshopped armors using ingame screenshots? Like my fourth pic in the lastest post.
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
Nope, I have nice feedbacks in private/ingame/from devs.
Anyway, I’ve made separated fullHD video projects on each of my topics, where I can try to explain my visions.
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
Bears are OP – compared to the other ones.
Mostly bots using “Juvenile Brown/Black Bear”s.
Right here in UW, I don’t see as mutch bear pets as you do.
Here they using drakes/doglike stuffs.
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
The idea of Invulnerable pet’s has doubts. Mostly because of fairity and PVP issues.
As I suggested, as long as pets had health, they should try to absorb incomming damages and conditions on Guard Mode. If they catch risen’s immobilise throws and some projectile, some hit, it would be okay.
But just in case they’re smart enough. Pet AI needs a huge improvement, and total reanimation for the illusion of working properly.
Basicly, Pet’s design should base on “true friendship”.
Different kind of animals must be used for different special abilities.
- Like if I have a bird, it should give me visual advantage, like bit increased fire range, or shortening the stealth effect on the foe by ~2 seconds.
- In my “dirty little mind”, my eagle is a spotter. He should support me in hunting.
- But if you have a hound or something, you should be more effective at chase hunting.
Bit increased movement speed? - You have a drake, witch improves your burning damage?
- Having a shark gives you bit of critical damage, or Armored fish gives bit toughness, jellyfishes giving better condition damages?
- Wolfs may give 3 sec of chill by fearing enemies on 30s cooldown, when the enemy enters closer of 50 range to the player?
And these buffs should be permanent on pet selection…
Update: I’m working on a fullHD video, where I can explain my toughts on the GW2 Ranger, and where I can show directly how it should be. I’ll even show how a bossfight should look like – and I mention again, it will be a direct composition. After you saw the vid, you should say:
“Omg… This less we have in GW2?!”

A quick cut concept about how rangers should look like if they want to…
“Elite” tier.
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
One new from AR dungeon.
Below, there is a heavy armor mix that would be a nice archer setup ^^
NOTE: Most of the archers in the game (ex: Seraph Archers) are warriors/heavy armor users. Pathetic or not?
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
A: Shortbow is popular, because it can be fired as fast as longbows should be. (nearly)
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
I do agree with this topic’s OP and many constructive comment.
(even if I posted these already to Arenanet when the game launched)
GW1 weapon skins: Sell us tickets, spawning a merchant, and we can exchange that ticked. Like at Fused Gauntlets.
This mechanism would work in a lot of situation, I’m happy for this idea.
We’ll even have a new set of skins on July 9’s patch – as AP based unlocks.
The temporary skins are a good idea, but just for some case.
Please have a look at “[iR] Redesigns – Main Discussions” thread
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/iR-Redesigns-Main-Discussions
There are separated topics for different parts. You’ll see some nice idea there.

Thank you the feedback BlueSoda!
In the future, I’ll make my voice louder, I’m working on my clear freestyle pronunciation (witch getting harder and harder when I even speak with different accents)
The musics are from Game of Thrones mostly – those are really great OSTs.
Maybe I should use GW2 OSTs, but I’m just one of the many who don’t like them.
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
Arenanet could make it mutch more better.
I guess they have strong limits because of weaker PCs, but an MMO engine like this should make differences…
I mean, if your PC can handle, let it load mutch more decorations.
If not, you’ll get the basic (current one)
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
Spending it wouldn’t be as great as a HOM like unlocking progress…
That was professional.

I didn’t liked sky pirates, because they wasn’t pirate, and wasn’t sky at all.
The final product was a failure.
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
I know I’m still bad at commentating like this (since its difficult to speak to nobody – in a very different and mutch less precise language (ENG)) But constructive feedbacks are welcome – please share it nicely. Thank you!

Seeing these posts I wonder:
Why ArenaNet didn’t made the armor cuts with standard scales?

Any news known for beards and eyebrows?
I can’t believe Arenanet didn’t fixed this yet…

So you guys don’t believe any longer that Rangers are leaf clothed hippies that only care about the wild and animals?
This case, thanks to the six gods! Finally, players managed to understand. ^^
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
Hehe, I used to be a heavy nerfed Assassin back in GW1, now I sck with the Ranger here…
This a really bad deal…
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
IMO Vitality pwns everything. The more HP you got, the more condition/direct/fall damage you can take. Meanwhile tougness only reduces direct damages….well…directly.
There is no other mech. I know on toughnes…

As a result of that system, there is a lot of diversity in the armor you see people wearing, which is good.
There is not. The same armors used on level 80, and now, every second player has an idiotic wing that breaks the remained epicness of the game.
There is. I see many different outfits simply by chilling in LA.
The wing is just a FotM, and it’ll pass after the next major update.
Sure… in this game, you see ~8 armors and ~5 colors used in the capital cities.
In other games, you see ~20 armors.
Colors are different matter. Real world lacks of colors, so the only way to go ahead is texture dyes (fur, metal, leather effects, etc).
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
Yes, we care about the forums.
We also care about all the classes equally.
Doesn’t seems like…

What if Toughness improves the chances of surviving and un-interrupting heals on Downed state?
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
Dear ArenaNet!
You said every classess will be equal…
So then, As a Ranger, or anything else, we want to do the same damages…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11q2O4rT7q8
Another fun video I’ve found: Rangers do more dmg with warrior banners than by their own weapons. Huh…
(Just read Reddit, lol!)

I like this idea!!
But not to purchase. Commanders should have these kind of abilities as basics…

Dunno, but Toughtness should mean bit more… Vitality just pwns it.
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
They do listen, but they have a so-called AAA category game, and they’re just around 300. Blizzard has 2k+ employee? Simply, they need mutch more worker…
As I see, my suggestions getting into the game slowly… like wWw traps.
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
No1 Else has this two concern? Really??
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
I guess every class has its own +25% movement speed up.
If the mounts grants the same, and ignoring every other speedup boost, it will be fine.
GW2 was promised to be funny open world anyway…
Wings (witch are special kind of mounts) are still has a reason.
For high prestige, why not? Would you better see thousands of people running around with holograhic wings and lightsaber style weapons? You got it. It ruined the game two times.
Anyway, no one is forced to use mounts, so why complain? Use WPs then!
Continue this altitude and the next generation MMO-s will have chess like movement systems… gosh!
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
I’ve checked the other pets again. Nearly all of them looks like cheap, chinese plastic toy with dumb faces… and they don’t even work properly ^^
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
@ OP: Guess you are, and I even hope so.
I have a level 80 warrior, fully geared up, Ascendeds in progress.
It has a full tank build, no real effort on damage, and still does the same as my ciritcal damage ranger. Sometimes even more… and it won’t die by a single strike!!
Didn’t Arenanet officaly stated that every class will be equal?
If anyone things Warriors should do more damage than Rangers, or any other class, that person should play oldschool MMOs, not GW2.
I want to believe in Arenanet’s words… So yes, I want to see my ranger as powerful as any other class!!
in near future!
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
What a beautiful post, OP!
Back in GW1, Rangers used to be an “Elite” class.
No idea why are we ignored so heavy now…
(apart from what I’ve wrote be4: Maybe they have no clue how to make it?)
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
I’m here as you asked!
So… Dual Skills? Like if I shoot a Long Range Shot, and pets do a “Pierce Strike”?
Or I do a barrage, and pet starts to kite/push/stop pets into the attack range?
This would be BRILLIANT!! <3
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
We don’t even allowed to have mounts…
After that, you want your own ship?
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
The problem isn’t with the price. It is acceptable.
The mistake was to make them kitten ugly, like the rest of the armor collection.
(+ weapons)
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
You people still can’t accept the fact WP’s shouldn’t been the only way to get to a point.
+1 for mounts.
+ another 1 for Aion wings ^^ (High Prestige)
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
Well, these special effects should be added with crafts.
And not the way only farmergrinder nolifers can get them…
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
LoL, those pigeons are nearly 8bit
(They’re serving decoration purposes)
This is a Fantasy MMO
Yes, this is a fantasy MMO, but that isn’t a reason for living creatures to look like plastic
In your case, the Divinity Reach should be made of low-fat butter, instead of bricks, and you should have green sky with giant dragonchickens that shouting the kittenlolol song.
-> So, Realism is a key feature.
