Changing visuals of already existing items? Risky.
However, a 1 year old bug on Azureflame/Aether would really have a little update:

Otherwise, there is 2 way to go: New items with new effects, even if they use an existing model. W/ New texture?

Best way to do so: Use the crafting customization methoods that I’ve suggested.
Have a fellblade? good. Select an effect and craft it your taste.
1 single model can have 10+ variaiton, witch means our little arsenal can be multipled quick and easy, while it benefits the playerbase greatly.

Reacting to the 1th Anniversary discussions, there are some:

  • Jennah should announce Abaddon Fractial research (because it would be a professional way to lead both LS & give us what people want, even ef they didn’t win the elections)
  • Jennah minipets are not a good idea. I suggest a random mini box / account by mail.
    Not depending on characters, but the registration of our account.
  • If AN sticks to Jennah minipet, at least we should be able to put them into the Mystic Forge, where we have a chance to get a random minipet or a special version of Jennah.
    Non-bound stuff. MF needs 4 item. Base slots are 5. We can keep 1 original.
  • Would be nice to add crafting lvl500 already, with a lot of new skins!
  • At least an bigger update on hair&bear styles would be nice. Import NPC uniques, make new ones, even GW1 has nice cuts that can be remade here.
    Anyway, I expect more sliders for making unique characters. This is the very base of playing a fantasy game…

Oh yeah, and Account Bound Dye unlock would be also nice after the Wallet.

I do disagree with OP.

  • Expansions are sweet, but a properly designed LS is same good. Depends on their quantity and quality of new things.
  • Arenanet does listening to us. I can’t count with my hand fingers that how mutch of my suggestions they accepted.

So Devs invented LS, and they’re on the journey to evolve their own invention.

Charrs shouldn’t been aminated like they are.
Back in GW1, they knew how to walk straight, and looks like they became bit more primitive by the last 250 years.

But there are techniques how to prevent clippings and weird morph animations.
We’ll have capes later, I’m sure about that. Imagine a cape back item that worth 2000 Gems That would be a lot of income $pike…

Anyway, I really hope that Capes are not going to be back pieces…
How would I use my quiver & others then? I don’t mind on clipping tho.
We loooove capes. In a lot of shapes. My favourite is the left shoulder style (Renaissance)

Every map needs hidden and mysterious places, and some sweet loot deep inside.
I don’t know what map layers really are, but if you say there should be an example of cave-complexum under Queensdale or else, well, that would be awesome.
Common players playing up, while the hardcores are deep underground.
Not to mention that this is an unique feature that no other game has, and it simply multiplies the value of each map.

But we need new areas also, to fill the huge map of Tyria.

New suggestion: [u]for equip-able items like Balloon, Kite, Torch.[u]
There should be some skills to use for better functionality & funfactor.
Tricks, little illusionist magic, some basic ability. Quick examples:

  • Idle animation for standing kiting.
  • Multiple balloon magic trick
  • puff up them bigger for a time, long CD
  • Torch light spells to make it very useable in dark JPs. (different shapes of fire sets?)
  • some funny animation

I know this is something AN has no time, but the Torch may have a little update.

Well, the best would be if we can use bows like back in GW1, where bows had a tier and it only changed the firerate+distance hidden stat, and our build was the responsible what to do with it. It was logical, realistic and simply good.

Now in this system, LB and SB are different. The Ranger community wants LB for mostly DMG/Burst, and SB for rapid fire & condition dealing. I’ll update the rework tomorrow in the [iR] RANGER Redesign topic.

Helmets & Beards

They saved time by removing hair/beard/eyebrows, so we can look crap, but without clipping issues.

I don’t know why they didn’t made a little system that pushes back the hair/beard meshes when a tier of helms applied… Wouldn’t be hard to put headgears onto tiers that has connection of what they need to completely hide and what to just push back.
For example, bandit masks remove beards, and that works.
But helmets also removing beards, witch is ridiculous in most of the cases.
Open-face helmets has no logical reason for this at all. Beard clippingthrough?
Yet again, Push it back, it has some movement-bouncing anyway.
Small beard cuts that are only a layer? Don’t even care…

Oh yeah, and on the normal hats (Pirate hat, witch hat, etc), why removing hair at all?
Push it back…

Would run hair blobbing physics? No it won’t. Polygons move by limitations.

If ranger bows are “ridiculously good”, how come a warrior doing more damage with LB, or most of the offensive classes needs mutch less time to kill the same enemies?

It has long CD, even with reduced trait. But useable.
I would like to see it breaking any immobilise tho… because NPCs using no stuns on me, just chain immobilise & roots. As I die in WWW because of those.

Daily/Monthly Achievements serve to give us a minimal “to-do” progression.
It is also a kind of inspiration to move ahead and seek for more adventure,
but why it shouldn’t even inspire us to buy things from Gemstore more often?

Elite Armor

When they improve the crafting limits onto 500, they even need to give us a lot of new skins that has mutch better look than the current ones.
Anyway, I’m still suggesting to craft-upgrade the armors.
GW1 had normal and elite versions of armors, and those was nice. ^^

The Gear skins we buy in Gemstore should be just an unlock, so we can use them as mutch time as we wish.
This would be a nice feature to add, and I don’t really think there is mutch people who bought these items multiple times.

I don’t like the idea of racial things.
It was better to get race specific style gears back in GW1 – even if they wasn’t really stylish at all.

As town clothings, even the mounts should be all-race.
They reflect different styles and ways of living only…

MF gear would work only if its an additional plus stat that weakens other stats slightly.
Arenanet’s point is right tho…

Divinity’s Reach has a nice construction yard above the Great Collapse,
Racial Capitals are dead & LA overpopulated. Pinpointing the right solutions:

Lion’s Arch:

  • Base concept is awesome. It needs mutch more block building with nice streets, wells, population, merchants. The buildings on the islands are standing on pillars, like in Venice.
  • Some basic water road route with automated boats that players can hop-in.
  • Above these, there are those ship remains, skyroads, huge flags and scraps.
  • Huge dock with the legendary ships of the council members. Each of them has special style and unique thropies on the board. With interior, RolePlaying Ready!
  • Banks, TPs, Crafting stations spreaded at least on 3 location to prevent location overfloods. Eatch place is a little bit different. (Common, Black Market, VIP)
  • The pirate cave should have fabricated ghetto houses and tents.
  • More to explore in the old LA ruins that remembers us what we done there back in GW1.

Racial Capital Cities:

  • Divinity’s Reach needs more interesting activities. (WIP!)
  • Black Citadel should look like a massive war-factory with built-in barracks, taverns, PVE build (with critical dmg) & WWW blueprint testfields, massive armory.
  • Hoelbrak: Nice as the way is, but filling it with nomad tents around would make it a real Norn capital as a sign of Norn’s past…
  • Rata Sum: Make it Smart. Lot of precise portals would make everything quickly reachable by foot, no WPs needed. Since it holds the Collage, I wish to see more of it.
  • The Goove: Somehow more dinamical and wonderful. The current build is terrible, very few likes it. I would take some inspiration from the AVATAR movie, as there was a nice spring-road up to the top, and each turn’s level had its useage.

Above all of this, the NPCs should reflect the life itself.

  • Merchants shouting (as built-in trading inspiration)
  • Travellers wondering on view (as built-in explore inspiration)
  • kids playing (as life illusion)
  • Student-teacher tours (as built-in lore telling)
  • Soldiers & Mercenaties chatting (as built-in event inspiration)
  • etc

Special Rule? 2 minute cooldown on free WP usage in the cities – so people need to move too. Isn’t a big sacrifice for the illusion of living world.

I can make a 3D concept by using Q3 Engine GTK Radiant map maker if you guys wish to see my vision in pictures.

There is a thing called “Culling”.
It is a methood to prevent FPS drops…

In cities like LA, you may don’t see the models of players until your PC didn’t finished loading them. And a lot of user has weak PCs that can’t handle the game well…
In a bigger patch, Arenanet allowed to see the character names, so you know who stands where. Useable in WWW too, since you’re more likely able to damage them.

Anyway, over-privileged places are the consequence of underdesigned maps.
As I’ve mentioned a lot of times, and still will until they don’t make it properly, a redesign of maps will solve this issue.

All the cities needs remapping for more spreaded population and for better design.
LA needs it the most – All the players are concentrated at a straight line Bank to TP

If I would be an Arenanet Dev, I would remap all the buildings from scratch.
We need more pirate style places where we can spread.
In the cave, scavenger style buildings, huge boats, etc.
So people can chose where they want to do their buisness, and the places they want to “socialize”. Waterpipes & pillows, dragon style canthan stuff –

I don’t get you Sorlik…
By placing Stealth on Point Blank Shot, you’re not forced to do anything, just have two option to go. Continue hitting the target who had a little bit disoriented, or run away safety.

Hunter’s Shot has no logic to have Stealth when the LB skills are not so suitable in most of the situations.

Someone said Azureflame is designed to be sheated like it works for a year, and thats why it isn’t “fixed”. I would like to hear a Dev’s public opinion about this!

When I and many other ranger/thief I’ve spoke with – bought the bow, we all had a hope it will be fixed and looking good one day. Ssssssoo?

Not just unique, but a strong direct dmg weapon.
For conditions and ninja, there is a shortbow.

I really hope they change the skills ~ as I’ve mentioned.
The current state isn’t acceptable IMO – we have 2 unchangeable fallback skill on a weapon that we should use for fighting, not running away from death.

The basic point of this topic is about Hunter’s Shot & Point Blank Shot.

  • I don’t know what would gamebreaking in more than 1500 range, but eagle eye is a huge luxury in some of the viable builds – so we’re not sure to use it. Anyway, who said Eagle Eye should give the same buff? It can be +75 range & +2% Crtitical Chance, or whatever!
  • These values designed for level80+ end contents. Prysin is right: Downscaled areas are always more easy as an inspiration and a logical reason.
  • Glitchy sword hitting is an unfixed bug amongst a lot of others. Yes, I wish it to be melee.
  • Stealth needed for hunter gamestyle. But I say the wrong skill had updated.

Anyway, I believe there is a bug with the arrow range. It can move on range 0 to ~1800…
You can test it out in LA’s Dummies.

What I’m trying to reveal here is the new generation skills/spells.
The more case you can use a skill, the more viable builds can born and the more fun it gives to us.

Increase pet range to 3000

It is “funny” when we see an enemy close but pets can’t reach them ^^
I believe Arenanet knows this logic failure and already working on an acceptable solution that don’t leads Rangers to safety pet-killing everything.
This is exactly why we need mutch more range on Bows & why overall AI needs huge improvements.
