@nasty I remember watching that anime :P didn’t know they made a game…
I have tried to both dodge in WoW and GW1 now.
When I first got Skyrim and played for like a week straight I finally logged back into WoW and tried pressing alt to sprint, SO many times… ugh. I asked trade chat and supposedly I wasn’t the only one.
I like GW1 mission cinematics a LOT better, where you can see the environment and everyone in your party etc. but I wouldn’t say I hate it… it’s just “meh”.
I find if I’m playing shortbow ranger I can stop using #1 for a moment and use #4, then go right back to spamming #1. I find this to be a very advance tactic for ranger play.
Very tactical indeed. Sometimes I even use my elite but that detracts me from my 1 so idk if it’s worth it tbh.
I feel bad for: GW1
Riveting tale ol’ chap, would read again.
Not yet, but maybe when they balance insta gibs in both pve and pvp it will be
Haha, R-spike was fun. At least it took coordination (albeit faceroll 321 coordination :P) still a better love story than GW2 spvp.
Ah.. if only GW1 wasn’t dead, gotta move with the flock unfortunately. If we could get a bunch of GvG teams to play again I would definitely log in, let’s get dat gold trim brohams!
@Gank LOL I think the same thing, remove healers but add more burst than I’ve ever seen in WoW, yes even more burst than Cata rogues with legendaries and vial.
So sad. WhatisANeteventhinking.jpg
ANet be trollin’, mon.
I don’t think they put much thought into how DR would effect legit players.
Does anyone remember realm down in Diablo 2 to fight against bots but then all they had to do was stay in a game for more than 3 minutes at a time before creating a new one and you would never get a R/D but it affected legit players constantly and still does to this day (lol@Blizz never removing that horrible mechanic) I hope we don’t see history repeat itself.
This. 1234567890
There REALLY needs to be a “stay logged in” option for the forums. At least I have google chrome and my acc & pw is automatic lol… lazy ftw.
Well, if you are intentionally going afk in an effective farming spot where your turrets will never die, I guess that could get you in trouble. However just going afk is not against the rules afaik and if you happen to have turrets up well then whatever… oh by the way you can’t loot while afk so the only thing you would get is an extremely slow rate of experience. I also notice I get kicked from the game due to inactivity while afk and I doubt your turrets count as your character being active, so you will eventually get kicked.
Not to mention DR… now that I think of all this, there is no way you could get in trouble for it.
Thanks even though I HATE the current state of the game, without being all doom and gloom I will say this game has incredible possibilities…
Don’t call others bookah even if they are. They might get offended.
Silence, Bookah.
It should just be implemented by ANet imo, it’s extremely helpful and wouldn’t give you any big advantage if it’s available to everyone, right?
I can’t see innovation in GW2 at all, I think they actually went backwards.
Well, other than updating graphics. Trinity, which was made even worse… and skill customization which was made worse, more limited, etc. I guess innovation is just introducing new things… they don’t have to be done better, ya? I might understand the word wrong.
It’s like when I found out in MW3 I couldn’t turn aim assist off, a shotty autoaim that does nothing but hinder you and mess you up 24/7, I just think to myself… wat??? Backwards innovation? Less options? How is this good!? Am I being trolled!?
Welcome to GW2 pve… where you die in an instant and it’s fun.
When you run around with a bible in your hand screaming “RECEIVE THE LIGHT!”
That sucks.. there really should be an chievement for collecting all dye. Good job on so many…
My brother just sits and spams his AoE skills on his necro with minions so that seems pretty boring to me, I think he uses staff… whichever weapon gives necro 4 AoE skills.
I’d go Ele if you like to stay on your toes, you will be switching between elements constantly and I enjoy them in pvp/
Rarely saw GMs in GW1 as well… and I don’t expect one to just show up in the world.
The cool part is getting DR on the risen while you hunt ore lmao
GvG
Better skill customization
Better pve
More pvp objective modes (AB/FA/JQ)
Capes
Less lazy design on bosses, remove 1 shots and add smarter AI that dodges attacks, casts retaliation buffs, things that will actually require teamwork to overcome instead of the LOLIMDIFFICULT crap we see now.
Better rewards in both pvp & pve, make pvp skins unlockable how they were in GW1. The current luck system is horrid, I hate the forge.
More endgame
Daily events
Pvp balance, no more glass cannon builds they are terrible and so are the people who use them. Force people to use balanced builds or literally make them die in 1 hit if they want to run glass cannon, seems like a fair trade off seeing as how you can global someone in 3 seconds currently. Or, idk, make toughness twice as strong on lower armor classes.
Bring back assassin combo system, the current faceroll initiative system on thief is boring as hell. I spammed an attack. I spammed an attack again. (Looking at you, Colin)
Part of the reason why thieves are so bursty right now.
I could go on forever
Bucklers for thieves, more variety is good.

I couldn’t care less about DR, I agree on scaling and itemization and all those false promises in development that never made it into the game is what really makes me mad.
Yep imad and you should be too for being betrayed by Blizzardnet.
@Crazy
I’m really not sure what to say bro.. it’s like you took your point of view and imagined that somehow that’s exactly how I think and feel… lolwrong.
@Geemo
I agree, GW2 isn’t a true MMO, I remember when things actually took time to complete. GW2 is fun, don’t get me wrong. But you can complete and experience everything in the game in a matter of weeks, not to mention you don’t really get rewarded for any of it other than the experience itself. The rewards are just horrid, and so are drop rates for crafting materials which is worse than I’ve ever seen in any game.
For those of us that have played MMO’s for years already, that is just not enough. There needs to be more things to do every day, I don’t know how ANet will implement this but I’ll tell you right now if they don’t, this game fails to that audience.
I will just go back to WoW because surprisingly Blizzard is getting smarter in terms of pvp balance and pve content in MoP, I just need to learn to ignore the incredibly idiotic theme of pandaland. GW2 has even worse balance than WoW does, and that’s a total joke. It really is. And in GW2, you even get globaled by pve monsters…. wat??? Good thing we have aggro management and .. owait.
I understand they wanted to appeal to both GW and WoW audiences and even people who have never played MMO’s before but it’s a total flop. This game is like a mix between a single player RPG with bad story and a half-assed MMO without all the MMO elements other than massive multiplayer.
I would have preferred a GW1 reskin, not this dumbed down World of Guildwarscraft. It’s almost like ANet and Blizzard switched places during the development of GW2 and MoP… everything is kitten backwards.
Every time I read that O’Brien quote I cry myself to sleep…
If GW1 wasn’t dead, I would play that instead. Unfortunately, when the flock moves so do I.. I just wish they actually kept the GW in World of Guildwarscraft, I mean GW2.
@Mantis, I agree. It shouldn’t be an end all live or die button but a damage mitigation button, and no dodging an attack that would otherwise kill you is not exactly what I’d call balanced damage mitigation lmao.
Oh what a surprise, you’re the typical 14k health glass cannon thief… of course you are hitting hard with CB.
^LOL reminds me of my pure energy Gale elementalist from GW1 I used to troll with. 2s KDs constantly it was so funny.
Bad skill is bad, as others have said it’s bugged, at least I hope, because for the stupid dodge to the right side to be intended I will have to kill myself as it makes s/d useless but I could really use the boon removal on invinci-guardians.
The idea with melee and GW2 bosses is you are supposed to play flawlessly and never get hit, because it should be easy even with all the particle effects and shotty attack animations they have when fighting, or just go ranged and faceroll.
I’ve also noticed this at times, some zones are less forgiving than others when it comes to downscaling but most of the time I can faceroll my way to victory.
OK, I’ll grant you that WoW’s LFG system is lifeless and boring.
But the system that GW2 uses (i.e. no system at all) is worse. Spamming map chat for 20-30 minutes isn’t fun. Seeing everyone else spam map chat constantly isn’t fun. Being suppressed for asking in map chat isn’t fun.
WoW used to have a channel for LFG. It didn’t solve the first problem, but it more or less solved the other two. GW2 could at least do that much.
Maybe people should oh I dunno, join a guild and be social so when you do want to run a dungeon you don’t have to spam chat for 30 minutes….
A better LFG system to see people who want to run a dungeon is fine but an automatic queue LFD system would be bad.
What, all that and then no screenshot of your character?
Will it feature diminishing returns on pumpkin hats and mad king thorn jokes?
I hope not!
Lmao.
Madking in GW2.. looking forward to that.
Woah that guy to the right of you is about to face plant lmao.
Must be a visual bug, try restarting the client & rezoning.
^I don’t want to play another game, I want to stay in the world of Tyria without being so limited. Most of us that have a problem with these limitations are hoping ANet wakes up and lets us edit our first 5 skills, not just utilities.
Playing less is never a good alternative for an MMO, unless you were addicted playing all day every day in the first place. An MMO should be able to be played 4-6 hours a day and hold your interest if you ask me. I, at the very least put 2 hours a day into GW1 for 5 years straight, ok maybe not every day but most. I always had it even on my laptop so I could play when I wasn’t home.
Speedclears and, when implemented, dailies kept people logging in to play and do VQ.
This game needs a lot more daily content. In WoW I usually ran some heroics on 2 characters then did some bgs, maybe tol barad then the raid that followed a victory. GW2 needs more rewarding, every day content that will keep people logging in over time.
The sooner ANet realizes this the better, and the more popular this game will get. “fun” only gets you so far, like it or not this is an MMO and needs the MMO aspects, and believe it or not people DO enjoy this stuff.
I have a seriously hard time imagining anyone being fat in this game other than maybe scholars that do nothing but read all the time. Just think how active your character is in the game lmao.. it would be impossible to be fat. inb4 metabolism etc.
And that’s why this is World of Guildwarscraft and not actually GW2.
Run with a friend, get on vent, otherwise it’s just as boring to level as with any MMO honestly… just a little more flare. It gets old quick.
Enjoy godmode.
Yeah, people loved to target themselves and admire their titles in GW1. But judging from the way everything else has been going here (and recent gw1 years), it seems the GW2 devs hate GW1.
Lol, good to know I’m not the only one that thinks this.
I’ve also tried self targeting to make sure my titles and such were working… sigh
roflroflrofl thanks for the seizure.
Yes but only if pie.
Nah I lied, I eat the dessert first.
Go play a melee in any other MMO and tell me GW2 has boring abilities. What I have a problem with is the lack of variety in skills, not being able to change 1-5 other than weapon swapping. I imagine it’s a lot harder to make interesting looking attacks for a ranged profession, but I think barrage and such looks really cool when people use it so…
Underwater combat is pretty “meh” for me. I am literally invincible on thief when I just spam shadow assault and on a crit build I never run out of initiative, even in pvp I am a god underwater. It’s boring, and the mob respawn rate and generally the ratio of enemies in any underwater area is far too high imo. It could be more interesting, but it’s no WoW water combat I’ll tell you that (absolutely hell)
Raids would be horribly chaotic in GW2 (no trinity/aggro management) and do I have to remind you how silly the particle effects are when you have 20 people attacking a mob.
What’s disappointing is we had cloaks for years in GW1 and they didn’t even add them to GW2…. fail
