I typically love pve and dungeons but without that trinity I just can’t get into them as much…

It’s like you said, GW2 promotes killing the target together but not working together to kill the target. I couldn’t have put it better myself. And I was one of the people saying trinity sucks, blah blah, when GW2 wasn’t out yet… thinking it was going to be so amazing without having to look for a group anymore.

Boy was I wrong. I love GW2 but I do miss the trinity.

[Attached Picture]

Yeah I’ll pass, self survivability and coordinated attacks are the way to go.
Depending on a single player to keep you alive with a huge menagerie of skills is just redundant.

So…. you think self survivability and coordinated attacks don’t exist in holy trinity???
My rogue in WoW had tons of self heal, evasions, sprints, vanishes, you name it. I was pretty kitten self sufficient, the only thing I couldn’t do was actually tank a dungeon boss if it was current content which sucked.

What makes trinity suck is looking for tanks and healers, not trinity itself. Some people enjoy DPS, some enjoy tanking, and some enjoy healing. We should have that choice. Remember “play your way” ? Yeah… didn’t happen. I can’t even play melee on my thief or I get wtfpwned in 1 shot by bosses that aren’t dodged (I know, kitten dodge, just an example, and dodge isn’t unlimited), FORCING me to go ranged to survive.. again, playing MY way? I think not.

It was one of the biggest selling points and it failed horribly in my eyes. I thought support builds were going to be at least 10 times stronger than they currently are. Party healing is pathetic when mobs can 1shot people.

Basically, current trinity sucks kittens, kittens Kittens KITTENS! Kittens.

Kit tens

Kittens.

GW2 would be horrible with raids, it has no real trinity. It would just be chaos, but… my perfect MMO, and what GW2 would be perfect to me is bringing the old trinity back, but with some flavor. Add some new mechanics to healing and tanking, make them more dynamic and interesting, and let every profession have access to each DPS/Tank/Heal on the fly.

I enjoy everything you listed, minus big heavy grinds, a little is alright but grinds that limit you on how much you can do in a week/day just to prolong them (I’m looking at you, WoW) is just lame.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Rukia.4802

@Temp If you are controlling each character separately with individual keyboard & mice, I don’t have a problem with that. I am referring to multiboxing which uses a keybord multiplexer that has you other computers mimic your keystrokes, so you are effectively botting them, and controlling them all through one keyboard.

The kind of multi boxing you refer to I think is fine, and ANet actually tolerated it in GW1, hell I used 2 accounts in GW1 for years to transfer storage and use extra heroes. I even asked an ANet dev if it was ok, and didn’t get a “no”. They are very lenient.

I figured you would know what I was talking about when I mentioned the 40boxer in WoW.. I honestly didn’t know people referred to using more than 1 account without a multiplexer as boxing, so I was a bit confused I guess.

And no, I’m not mad lawl…

Ah… all the multiboxers trying to justify themselves, funny. You gain an unfair advantage, period. It is basically botting, you’re controlling multiple characters with one keyboard. That’s not humanly possible without some sort of program. So don’t give me that BS.

Blizzard only allows it in WoW because they’re greedy losers that gain a mass amount of money out of it, and don’t care about the fairness of players. We often got ganked by a 40 boxers on Kil’Jaeden pvp server by some nolife that spends hundreds a month on all 40 accounts. He goes around 1 shotting alliance all day every day. Defend THAT.

Thief & his damage

in Thief

Rukia.4802

Thieves can usually only score kills by being glass cannons, we have to sacrifice too much damage for defense, save for a venom build that can score around 2400 defense and over 19k HP while dishing insane condition damage, which is personally what I run. I can post that if you like.

Guardians are invincible, you will never kill one 1v1 unless they are terribly bad. You can easily outrun one, though. Yay. (lol)

Rangers? Easy as pie, don’t share your troubles there. Just pop a condition remove on their bleed burst. Most are condition built.

Engineers, a good skilled engineer is hard to beat and I usually see the condition spammer build. You can beat them, but you will need to avoid as much bombs you can. Lots of AoE. Personally I’ve been waiting for a talent to reduce AoE damage taken in stealth, or something to that effect.

Warriors, kitekitekite, short bow is your friend. If you find yourself in melee range of a warrior, be sure you have a stun break. Only go melee if you have a CC or you’re feeling ballsy.

Necro’s, I can’t think much on them right now.

Surprised you haven’t mentioned Mesmers…

This is from an spvp perspective btw, with max stat’s and sigils. Also remember that some people may be a lot more geared than you in WvW. It isn’t balanced.

Plus, I’ve seen way more team work in a game with tank/heal/dps trinity than you will ever see in GW2. Unfortunately… sad but true.

Balance is just horrid right now, I’m sure all proffs have issues, some more than others. I would even go so far as to say pvp in Cataclysm was far better than this, and, I can’t emphasize this enough, that REALLY is saying something coming from a 2400+ 3v3 pvper that played resto druid and was essentially getting killed in openers by rogues when legendary daggers and vial came out with over 4k resilience. The same crap happens in GW2 pvp it’s ridiculous, not fun at all. At least people could CC targets for more than 1-2 seconds in that game…

Don’t get me started on 1 hit deaths in pve.

Lvl 60 thief, extremely disappointed, idk what I’d choose on a 1-10 scale, because I have fun until I get 1 shot from a boss during, or a split second after a death blossom.

I don’t enjoy them in pvp either.. I just feel too weak. It takes an hour to kill anyone with half decent armor, trying to backstab people is a hell of a task, my immob is on a long cooldown and after that one, not even guarantee’d backstab that hits for 2-4k (yes I’m serious, that’s a crit) on a well armed guardian I’m pretty much screwed, hitting with c&d is also a task and I feel pretty much every other class is faceroll when compared.

I dismissed a lot of my daunting pvp experiences assuming I was just bad but after pvping for multiple days at a time I am pretty convinced thief sucks and I should just roll a mesmer to faceroll everyone in pvp with my lolclones

Basically my favorite class is too frustrating to play, not sure if I will reroll or wait for updates that I hope will be in the future. It suck not doing any damage unless you’re a glass cannon build in pvp… and still dying pretty fast in a full or half survival build but doing almost no damage in comparison.

I think, for those people, maybe ANet should put in an additional mode into all the dungeons, “Ranking mode” (They did something like this in GW1 didnt they?)

In that mode, you receive a score/ranking based on how quickly you completed the dungeon, zero/minimal number of deaths, optional-objectives completed, percentage of enemies killed etc.

People at the top X% of the ladder for a dungeon get to use some special item skins / capes / titles / auras whilst they maintain their ranking.

So there you go, competitive PvE.

Doesn’t sound bad. GW1 did have outposts that could be controlled by the dominating guild that completed challenge missions with the best score which opened up merchants and such, also ranking which would display your guilds name if you were good enough on a challenge mission.

They could implement so many cool things for pve I’m surprised none of this was on release.

Cultural Tier 3 armor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Prestige? It’s purchased with gold. You can buy that stuff without even playing the game. The only people able to afford it right now are the ones who have either exploited the game, or exploited players on the trading post. You currently don’t earn this armour by playing the game, you play the market.

I don’t care about the price, I don’t think it’s harmful to have some armor sets at absurdly inflated prices, but I also don’t think there is any prestige to it. So you got gold, anyone with a credit card or the knowledge of the trading post can get this armour easily.

I’m sorry but I can’t see anyone spending 500 dollars or more on the T3 cultural armor, and if they do, lol, they deserve that armor imo.

So you say you want everything that’s in WoW in GW2 then go on to say you quit WoW for similar reasons, which makes no sense because GW2 is nothing like that game. There is no balanced itemization in pvp in WoW it’s just a bunch of people with legendary pve weapons and pvp gear that they grinded for weeks owning the weak defenseless ungeared freshly leveled 85’s. which is apparently what you want in pvp, btw you can pretty much do that in WvW, it doesn’t replace your gear there.

I guess you must have meant WoW has also watered down the feeling of earning something, and I completely agree. I also whish there were more roles in GW2, I don’t think trinity is bad. I just think it needs to be more accessible. For example if my rogue in WoW could tank, heal, AND dps depending on how I felt like playing, I’d probably be playing WoW right now. GW2 comes closest to this, while removing a lot of the trinity but letting you heal yourself and dodge attacks instead of tanking you effectively become all roles. I think that’s amazing.

A gear-stat treadmill should never exist in any serious pvp, and you should never have an advantage over someone else because you have better gear. It’s not fair, nor is it fun for the receiving end. All I can tell you is go back to WoW or try one of its clones like Rift, SWTOR, Aion, etc.

Hamstorm #1 build. Got my gold trim running that…

I am severely disappointed that GW2 isn’t really Guild Wars, in that it’s more like a WoW2.0 and they obviously want a more casual fanbase and just left all their GW1 fans in the dust. I can’t even stand how story works, much less combat. I want missions, and no BS 1 shot mechanics. I want at least half the trinity back (healing) tanking has never really made sense and I personally don’t like it, nor was it ever officially in GW1.

I absolutely loved heal and prot monking in GW1. I always hated healing in MMO’s butkittenGW1 did it right. It took skill, and had a very punishing resource system if you were bad, and that goes for all classes requiring energy management, except maybe warriors. Monking in GvG was some of the most exciting times I’ve ever had in a video game. Monks were completely removed in GW2, and there isn’t even GvG…. no resource system, except for initiative.

No combo’s for thieves like assassin’s in GW1, no captivating story, no direction, the lore doesn’t even seriously start until the 50’s then suddenly it starts telling you about the guild wars from GW lore etc… I’m like wtf, you waited until now? All I do is spam 3 on my condition thief it’s incredibly faceroll. I want missions back, not some 5 minute long borefest every time I jump into my personal story. And where are bonuses?

I can’t fight in my costumes? Great move… bravo. No capes? There is so much wrong with “Guild Wars 2” aka World of Guildwarscraft that it really pisses me off, now you got me on a rampage… gonna go play some hello kitty online to calm me down.
