I highly doubt you experienced a rollback, but when server restarts events do too, so you will have to restart the event even if it was mid-way, that should be common knowledge the game can’t save the progress of every single event during a restart because it is quite literally refreshing the client.

Where did everybody go?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Rukia.4802

If lower level events would actually scale to high level 80 event rewards (if you are 80) then more people would be scattered all over the world.

There would still be some zone with easiest\most profitable\most popular events where everybody would stay.

Sure but they could also scale rewards better for bosses, like the earlier mentioned fire elemental in metrica. People would be doing it if it yielded a nice big reward, I mean it is a boss right? Bosses should reward better than just a regular event does.

Chests never give you anything decent really so that’s kind of moot. They could also upgrade those rewards. I have honestly never done the elemental in metrica because the area is always dead when I go there, and I haven’t bothered asking anyone in guild to group with me and do it… it’s just one event.

It’s all quite obvious, not enough rewards. Why do you think everyone farms plaxi in Orr and doesn’t do a single different event in the game? I have solo’d multiple boss mobs and you know what I get at the end for my decent time investment, the same reward I would have gotten with 20 other people lol…

Because it’s not how the game was advertised or how it is supposed to be. In all honesty, we are right and the “locusts” are wrong and shouldn’t have bought GW2 if they were looking for a treadmill. Grind MMO’s are that way —>

Is Anyone Still Playing GW 1?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Rukia.4802

Rukia.4802

Yup. Went back to playing GW1 and surfing these forums on occasion. Random Arenas is pretty much how it’s always been. That and HA is really the only reason I logged into GW1. That was what “GW” was to me. It’s still a populated game.

What this game is.. I don’t know but don’t like it. It’s missing TDM in sPvP so until then I’ve stopped playing.

Other than that, I’m waiting for DarkFall 2 on Nov 20th. The new content coming out for GW2 doesn’t interest me in the least… for sPvP they’ve introduced a new……. conquest map. /sigh.

Then I suppose I’ll see you in GW 1 soon enough!

I think what GW2 is missing is the RPG element. Getting rid of monks hurts the role play of warrior class who used to have to play both DPS and body guard. It was satisfying to protect your monk. Now there is no one to protect or rally around. Everyone glides around on their Mario Karts shooting turtles shells at each other and disappearing all over the place.

You won’t see potent spammable abilities such as reversal of fortune or vengeful weapon or protection spirit because there is no mana to balance them out. Because there is no mana limititation there cannot be powerful spammable abilities that the player has to decide when to use and when not to use. In GW2 u just basically use cooldowns whenever possible. No mana pool to manage or give a flip about.

Anyways gotta start downloading GW1 some time

Very much agree! And GW1 pve is still alive I hear but pvp is probably dead as its been the last couple years. Maybe we could rally a bunch of people and get some GvG going.. that would be fun. I plan on logging in tonight to see how things are

dungeon finder LFG isn't in the works currently

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Rukia.4802

Rukia.4802

SWTOR launched without a dungeon finder and you see where that kind of failed thinking got them.

You don’t launch an MMO in 2012 without a LFG system. Especially when you know it’s going to be expected.

/boggle

SWTOR didnt fail because of lack of dungeon finder lol ..
SWTOR failed cause open pvp was just a big joke, you were forced to do same dailyes all over and over again, crafting system was another joke, all you did was staining in main city waiting dungeon, or raid to start, also bad optimalization in warzones, you had maxxed out character in no time, nightmare operations were bugged as hell …

LFG system is not mandatory for mmorpg. What about finding the guild, make friends and run the dungeons with them? I ve done about 200 explorabe dungeons aleady, played almost 900 hours and finding a group was the last problem I had. Buggs are the major thing they should fix.

This is mmorpg after all, no dungeon finder encourage you to socialize with others …

You are just to lazy to make friends and expecting game to do it for you, just click and wait till game give you 4 random players every time. cause you are too lazy. Whoever is smart, he has friends and guild that hes running with.

Agree’d, although I never tried swtor it was an obvious failed WoW clone from the start. I haven’t had any problems finding a group because I’m in a guild socializing… go figure, eh? It’s an MMO, go make friends, I don’t want this to turn into where you get grouped with 4 other randoms and never speak a word through the entire dungeon.

(a solo player with no intention of joining a guild)

This kind of mentality has no place in an MMORPG to be honest. you are supposed to socialize in these games, it isn’t a single player RPG…

Ascended Items Need the Same Stats as Exotics

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Rukia.4802

Rukia.4802

I doubt it will be “free”, but I’m hoping that part of the update allows players to upgrade existing Exotic items by putting them in the Mystic Forge along with special Infusion items (which are obtained by crafting). This creates an Ascended tier item with the same appearance of the Exotic item, and comes with a new Infusion slot.

This. No stat increase, simply add an infusion slot and your armor gets ascended, this whole fiasco would be fixed.

@Naoko

You are the problem with MMO’s today. We don’t need a carrot, the whole point of GW was to remove or rather let us eat the carrot instead of endlessly chasing it. Again, trillions of other posters have said this but let me be clear with it: if you want grind, pandaland is that way —-→

This game should cater to GW players, nothing else. It’s been proven time and time again that you cannot possibly cater to both crowds so ANet should just stick to their guns and keep GW the way it was originally, the GW playerbase will stay forever, the game may not have 10mil subs but we will be happy and content.

Although it’s clear that it’s no longer about the players or making an amazing unique game but getting as many people playing as possible, aka revenue.

I really don’t want another armor tier, just let us infuse our armor like in GW1.. this makes no sense, why would ANet of all people add another tier? Who is really running the show here? Makes me worry for the future of this game. They really shot themselves in the foot this time, worst idea I’ve seen since the removal of team arena tbh.

We were pretty much all under the impression that exotic was the best possible armor with no treadmill after that, now I will be replacing my exotics with ascended…. please, please just stick to your initial philosophy and do not cater to the WoW scene.

Completely defeats the purpose of a ranged weapon, however this is what everyone is forced to do… a serious design flaw. If it’s too powerful, nerf it but it is just terribly slow at range. Decrease the raw power but increase the bleed stacks combined with speeding up the travel time maybe? Whatever it would take to increase travel time, I’m all for it.

What is wrong with thieves in a nutshell

in Thief

Posted by: Rukia.4802

Rukia.4802

First off, tactical stomps and revives are tactical. If your team can’t throw a KD or fear out while you’re downed then it’s just bad synergy. It’s extremely obvious what a thief is going to do when a C&D or shadow refuge comes out. As another poster said, when someones health starts going up it’s pretty blatant what is going on. The thief may be stealthed, but now you know where he is so by all means ATTACK or CC him.

This is all mostly just a L2P issue. The only valid argument you have is contesting caps while stealthed which I agree it shouldn’t be allowed. Stealth detection is just horrible and should never be added. As always, all this coming from a WvW hero…

Btw there is a revealed debuff, can’t stealth for 3s if you attack someone in stealth.

I just can’t believe that after having templates for so many years in GW1, some how they derped and didn’t add it into GW2… seriously? C’mon.

Only makes it harder to play around with builds and traits. And yeah, a lot of traits are weak or worthless unless you are playing an extremely specific build pretty much around the trait itself.

Not to mention stat allocation should be separate from the traits themselves. I am forced to go shadow if I want defense and healing, really? Even if all the traits have literally nothing that really benefit my build? That’s just low.

Rukia.4802

If only standing in the black powder was an option. Posting this will only strengenth the QQ from all the baddies so thanks. I will agree though contesting points in stealth just like in spvp, should not be allowed. Btw I’ve been using this build for months people are so slow on trying anything themselves..

It is also magnificent for pve, permablind owns, only fast attackers will manage to hit you, combine with backstabs you can take on full groups while focusing on 1 target. I sincerely hope this doesn’t get nerfed as its a certain kind of playstyle that I love.

The only thing that really needs fixing is the contest in stealth crap. Being perma stealthed otherwise is basically useless other than scouting and such, which should totally be acceptable for a thief.

Yeah, I tried to get into it, I couldn’t.

I agree. I find killing the same monster 800 times in a row for a set of shoulders that will give me a +1 increase in Precision to be a much more satisfying process.

Not entirely sure, but I sense failed sarcasm. Perhaps an attempt to categorize equipping a new pair of shoulders as “not dressup”.

You know… maybe they could like…. make actual dungeon mechanics? Just a thought between corpserushing insert dungeon boss here

If you’re corpse rushing, you are your team are bad or new to the mechanics and need to learn the fight. It’s no different than wiping in a raid except for it doesn’t take 5 minutes to run back to the boss, thank the nine for that.

Continuously dying on a boss should at least hint that you are doing it wrong lmao. Dungeons do have mechanics, people just get raged too easily and ignore them. Sigh…

Plus, do you really think it would be fair for the people that did invest time into buying T3 that YOU would get it half off? Hell no.

Do people STILL not know the farm method in cursed shores? Plaxi > arena/drake > big fat risen dude > rinse repeat. Not hard. Now go get to farming instead of QQing. You don’t get handed everything for no effort, sorry. This is an MMO not modern warfare 3.

What to do with my gold?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Rukia.4802

Rukia.4802

Build it up, trade it in for gems, max out your bank space, bag slots and character slots.
I’d also recommend using some of it to invest in maximum sized bags.

This and try rolling an alt if you really have nothing to spend gold one. Playing one character I can understand, after T3 and commander there really isn’t that much gold sinks but I’m willing to bet most people in the game right now haven’t even gotten close to 100g yet.

Unlocking everything in the gem store on your main would be a nice extra dump but I doubt even that would last very long. I think 10g nets you about 1200 gems? I haven’t checked in a while so I may be way off (don’t kill me)

edit: I was close about 1300 gems, price went down to 77s per 100

I think we are missing the point of OP though, I agree we need more things to spend money on. I think at this point if you don’t want to go for legendary and are sitting on gold, just save it, eventually more things will be added to buy I’m sure.

Bad players only stay bad, good players started bad and only got better.

A good player will never be nerfed, they’ll take on every challenge thrown at them.

The best baseball player in the world will still strike out if you give him a limp feather instead of a bat.

Ok, thats nice, but no one will hand a baseball player a limp feather.
No one has been handed something that drastic yet in this game. It still works and “good” players will still do good.

BUT!

Actually, it punishes bad play. It’s what is commonly referred to as a pubstomper build: extremely effective against low-skill, unorganized opponents while tapering off sharply in the higher end gameplay.

Exactly.

Only people having issues with this build are average players (not trying to be harsh).

Most of the guys that have been playing for a while like myself actually relish the free kills these builds usually are. Not only are they free kills, but they’re quick kills, because they’re so squishy.

Indeed, like I said, dodging BS is easy. I faceroll over these kids all day. Watch their first “burst chain” fail and some will just stand there going lolwut I didn’t expect him to dodge hurrdurr now my pure damage build is useless. They may as well just stand there.

If thieves were more like Assassins in GW1 with skill chains we would have a lot less problems here.

Please, stop taking numbers from WvW.

It is not balanced, it’s not supposed to be. Sorry if I don’t take ANY of your loldata seriously when you hit that 50k BS on a target in lvl20 armor with 10 trait points.

I sickens me every time someone takes their examples from WvW and thinks it’s valid at all. Either try Spvp and get a real scope on things or just don’t post, don’t pretend you have any idea of how this game should be balanced.

99% of the QQ vs thieves are from people who play WvW. It’s the equivalent of me going into battlegrounds in WoW the moment I hit 80 in questing blues and expect to beat the best pvpers who already have max gear and traits and know what they’re doing.

Please, this forum could use some logic & real numbers taken from real pvp. It actually scares me the things people say in this forum because I don’t want ANet to go the Blizzard route by going ahead with unnecessary nerfs.

Assuming they don’t go that route, and trust me they have people working these numbers anyways, but if you still insist on convincing them of anything you would need to take a glass cannon, a bunker, and a balanced and test all numbers next to each other vs every build in spvp.

It’s not fair to take a glass cannon vs another glass cannon and when one pwns the other in a burst you scream “Overpowered!” that’s just not how this works I’m sorry. I am inclined to do a bunch of testing myself just to shut everyone up but I don’t have the time right now between work & play.

People need to learn to adapt to a meta and build against it, seriously are there NO guild wars 1 players in here??? Get better and learn to dodge backstabs it’s really not hard, the game isn’t as unbalanced as you think. Build a bunker and troll thieves all day, I don’t care, just don’t come here and cry when one kills you because you were outplayed…

If backstab gets nerfed...

Dude, I play Necromancer, don’t say to me how’s the feel when none wants you.
I know how it feels to be underpowered and weak and, since I alt as Thief, trust me, Thieves are far from underpowered.
I think that a nerf on the base damage of backstab doesn’t hit the Thief effectiveness at all but it instead will give Thieves more balance among their possible builds.

Again, I don’t know on which basis you say that they won’t split skills in PvP and in PvE as they have already done back in Guild Wars 1 and they are still doing in Guild Wars 2. If the nerf is also in PvE, means that probably ArenaNet thinks that this nerf is needed also in PvE. They know their job.

My brother runs in FULL magic find gear and spams his marks on staff and facerolls 90% of pve I watch him all the time, sure which my thief could do that bro… necro’s have it easy. You even get minions to top it all off.

ANet needs to split pvp and pve skills because they’re already mucking stuff up because of all the QQ coming from WvW heroes.
