For people who don’t know this rune: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Superior_Rune_of_Durability
I just want to say that I can see potential problem with these runes. If you’ve seen yesterday’s tournaments, you might have noticed that a lot of players were using it.
Now this rune is defensive equivalent of Runes of the Pack. Solid stats, boon duration.
The problem is, it’s an another passive source of Protection, which I think is more troubling than Regeneration and short Resistance. It would be okay if it was personal proc, but this passive proc is AoE, similar to Pack runes.
Stacking these with just couple players in a teamfight means a lot of AoE Protection rolling just from totally passive procs and runeset having 20% general boon duration increase is already solid enough.
Now I’m not really calling for nerfs, but just want to point out that it should be monitored as I see another passive factor which impacts viability of direct damage power builds in PvP and I’m not a fan of that.
Damage reduction affects yourself, but outgoing healing increase does not.
Also, Shrouding Mist starts to increase your healing at and above 51 Energy and reducing damage at 49 or lower. Neither of these effects work at 50 Energy.
FoN has many uses. I often use it with combination with stability on dodge to secure stomps, Pain Absorption to greatly increase my Resistance durations and boons from Glint. It also acts as survival tool when I need Protection and can’t afford Chaos upkeep.
It’s been acting like it since the beginning. As long as it sticks and target remains visible, your opponent can shadowstep/portal to Africa and you’ll follow him.
It’s, you know, Unrelenting
.
CoR scales extremaly good with Power for the 3rd impact. While in PvP it will be not so crazy and about the damage of True Shot on last impact, in PvE Wonderland called WvW I can raise the tooltip damage (!) to about 4k. That’s almost twice the damage compared to PvP. Now add all damage modifiers and other stuff you can use in WvW.
My point is, WvW is unbalanced because it is still PvE. If it’s completly destroying WvW “balance” as you say, then reduce power scalling and raise the base damage.
Nerf to Rolling Mists affects Condition and Hybrid builds way more than Power ones.
I pretty much straight disagree with everything you’ve suggested.
It’s no fixing and no easy changes. Mutilating Power builds and trying to make Mallyx pseudo-Necromancer while not coming up with any worthwile suggestions to things that are in need of changes is no “balancing Revenant”.
Which of the changes do you disagree with, and more importantly, why? What would you do to make a better (from the viewpoint of all classes in PvP) Revenant?
You should find most of the stuff out here:
I’d like them to first repair our dear Vampiric Bastion to increase boon duration, then we might suggest further changes.

Block only blocks direct damage hits, pure condition application and condition damage itself goes through blocks.
This.
EtD doesn’t strike you with any damage (like Doom for example) and it functions similary to all the field/miasma effects in PvE. You can’t evade or block those. It’s not a bug, just skill design.
It’s been like this since the beginning and I’m surprised you didn’t know this already, OP. I’ve been talking about this on my streams and showing how to pressure Revenant through Crystal Hibernation for months now.

Though I find it useless as an ele, i think as someone mentionned above, make it like cleansing water, gain 2-3s resistance when applying protection to yourself or an ally is a good idea to consider.
I would prefer not. Currently Tempest applies so much Protection that adding Resistance on top would break it.
There’s no arguing that in PvP, if you don’t get stunlocked, Viper Revenant can deal absolutely sick, colossal damage with conditions. Highest I’ve done with Viper setup in Conquest game was about 1 million 100k damage in total. Celestial Build comes close with about ~1 million damage.
You can see many people from top EU teams trying out Condition and Celestial Revenant right now. Just look around in the Mists.
What Mallyx needs is mostly some idea on himself, because while still fun, abilities lack flavour. They’re useful, but don’t pack as much potential for sick plays as in BWE2 and before.
What Mallyx absolutely needs and it’s also Ventari’s case – stunbreak and defense in Mace/Axe weaponset. In this meta being exposed for a second without some block, evade or similar thing is just such an incredible risk, Mace offers no defense (while all other weaponsets do – simple evade on #3 should be okay) and worst of all switching to Mallyx indeed means a lot of damage but sacraficing almost all survival against direct damage or CC lock (and CC locks are flavour of this meta) is too harsh punishment.
The reason why Shiro is so good and even Viper builds use it in PvP is that Shiro has overpowered stunbreak which other Legends do not.
Is it possible to play Mallyx builds in PvP? Yes
Is it harder to play than Shiro/Glint? Yes
Is it fun to play? Yes
Is it in good state then? No

Only thing that needs to be done to traps is taking away that daze you get upon triggering them.
Plus removing invisible walls.
We have so many red circles everywhere covering whole nodes that sometimes I can’t decide which one I prefer!
Please don’t tell this argument again “weakness to condis” when they have barely none. With Glint/shiro, marauder amulet, vampirism rune i haven’t ANY real problem with condi last BWE (only again high stacks of burning and too much condis like other classes). The new trait in retribution line (the proc od ROTGD) make condi management even more easy too. Revenant really don’t have a weakness to conditions. Looks at mesmer for exemple, it’s much more squishy than revenant and without inspiration line have just NOTHING to do with conditions (revenant without Mallyx have Glint heal, regen, shield skills, evade … AND soon a talent in retribution line). When mesmer need to don’t be hit at all (actually mesmer need more skill to play than herald, who makes revenant a child game to play with the upkeep cost of Glint abilities). There is more, when revenant is really tanky with herald and shield mesmer can actually be one shooted (i play Mesmer and i can say you this "condition weakness is clearly none. Would love to have this “weakness” on my mesmer without taking inspiration line). So please stop with that conditions weakness. It’s really a false thing.
The revenant (majoritarly the herald but i hope Jalis and Mallyx would change too) and others elite specs are going to be down and have some changes in one or two months, i’m pretty sure. Currently there is no balance thing on elite specs ( i really hope myself they redone the berserker spec, if none this clearly throw warriors away the meta and let revenants become the more powerfull melee class)
You don’t play a mesmer.
There is so much counter play a mes has vs a revenant it’s sad.
There is no way.
A Revenant should ever counter a mesmer unless that mesmer is terrible.
And if it’s a chrono then that player must be pure garbage.Chrono in either condi OR power has enough tools to render most if not all of the kits of a revenant obsolete.
To be honest, I’ve been duelling many good Mesmers – Rylock, Yanim and couple more and they have tough time vs. regular Power Revenant on conquest non-condi builds. Pretty much 90% winrate for me.
It mostly comes down to a fact that against shatter mesmer you have some answer to their burst every single time, Mesmer has no unblockable CC and unblockable Mirror Blade isn’t enough.
Second thing is Stability on dodge – it really screws them up. Add Revealed to that, gapclosers and you have very tough matchup against any decent Revenant.
As for Revenants being weak against conditions – be careful here. Power builds tend to be, but Mallyx builds can easily 1v1 Condi Reapers if Reapers don’t time their boon corruptions. Resistance is a powerful tool and using proper skills in a teamfight might give you serious amounts of it.

Nothing has really changed about this gamemode since like, BWE2. I think they got more than enough feedback already and at this point I’m just waiting for any update to this game mode.
It’s fun, but has obvious problems. Problems that could’ve been solved already.
Translation:
They’re kittened.
The only masteries that are required for the raid release are Glider Basics and Updraft Use. They don’t come in to play until the third encounter.
Does having fancy glider skins help with Gorseval?
That’s indeed quite hardcore.
But good luck, NA needs more good teams.
Howdy,
Today, 12.11, at 7 P.M. GMT (8 P.M. CEST) there’s a Mystic Builds 1v1 Revenant-only Tournament. [EU]
But it’s not usual tournament. Upon entering you will get randomly generated build with weapons, traits and Legends chosen and your task will be to modify it with runes, amulets and sigils (everything is avalible!) to make it work.
You may think “but how am I supposed to 1v1 with this?”. The thing is, your opponent will have to deal with his random Revenant build, too!
The entire tournament will also be streamed at: http://www.twitch.tv/mightyteapot and hosted by MightyTeapot.
Interested?
Enter here: http://www.mysticbuilds.com/#home – Make sure to check "Enable Elite Specializations!
More about the rules and other things can be found on the site
If you are NA but you still have EU account with Revenant avalible, all the rewards including Gems and Gold will be sent to your primary NA account if you want!
Sign up, get your build, be online on time and see you on 1v1 RNG battlefield!

dodge traps
jk, I can’t see kitten in teamfight anymore.
I see “frontline” being mentioned. Excuse me, but is it WvW or PvP discussion?
Because comparing PvP to PvE wonderland that includes WvW in terms of stats and overall balance is hillarious idea.
As for the Hammer, the only things that needs fixing is that CoR can hit same player with two cascading impacts at once if the character model is unlucky enough to be in that “sweet spot” which leads to instakills on builds without toughness.
Aside from that behaviour which may need fixing, Hammer is totally fine, has clear counters and figures as L2P issue.
If you run from hammer revenant or try to range him and then come here to complain, I have no sympathy for you.
The issue with Curses is that traited Signets have such good value compared to rest of our skills, PvP-wise, now. And that Spite gives universal damage increase – Might boon, while Curses brings specific one to crit or some condi damage. So you go Soul Reaping, because there’s hardly PvP without it, you get Reaper because this profession is now being balanced around this Elite Specialization and then Spite + Signets and then….you ran out of space.
Spite offers burst and we pick it because with Condi Necro we can’t win at sustain.
This whole Specialization needs to be scrapped. It tries to be specific and niche, but we already have our omnitool powerhouse specs and while only 3 or 5 traits out of 9 see any use whatsoever, then we have a problem.
Long time ago, I proposed this:
(edited by Rym.1469)
It’s PvE vs. PvP debate.
I’m almost finished with my Minstrel’s/Magi’s/Cleric’s mix Revenant. I will see how it works in raids next week.
Atm, PuGs run away from your tablet, avoiding it at any cost. 95% people consider it as boss mechanic or enemy player ability.
If you want to support, we have one niche and that is beefed up Regeneration. Just get outgoing healing modifiers and your Regeneration will be strongest possible one by far in game.
Then you can run Glint/Shiro and know that you support well.
Compared to non-meta, pre-HoT builds, it’s OP. Compared to new meta, post-HoT builds, it’s balanced.
It’s fun to me that when they were discussing reveal of Ventari they said they didn’t want to make it another bunker who heals, but more of a selfless healer and went with that outgoing healing increases….
Just to introduce Druid a while after which is a bunker healer.
Screw logic x)
It would fit the whole, “You’re screwed now, buddy” feel of yelling “Nothing can save you!” at someone.
I wish the shout was called “You’re screwed now, buddy”
“Get Crit!”
Tbh, that mode was more of a check if you have monk in team :P
But I’m all for this. Progressing with people was awesome.
In general, I’m all for more fun game modes. They don’t have to be competitive or super-esports, at all. Something like Codex Arena which would make people craft their builds or go in with semi-random crappy ones. Doesn’t have to be balanced – for people who don’t know, I’d compare it to good Tavern Brawls in Hearthstone. Mode that would simply encourage using stuff you usually don’t in meta game. All Thieves have to run Scorpion Wire, Engineers having Gadgets traits chosen by default, Warriors using OH Axe etc. with rules swapping weekly.
You use your facets just for active, missing on ridiculous amount of boons.
Don’t double tap if it’s not absolutely needed.
We’ve been asking for that since spec patch preview.
I would certainly like to see trait icon for that like Clarion Bond on Ranger to know when it’s up, as concept is good, but I can’t be sure in longer fights when I can depend on it working.
I still miss 1v1’ing while waiting in queue.
But hey, at least I do much better in jumping puzzles.
Shiro’s stunbreak is one of the most powerful stunbreaks in the game. Lowering it’s cost would be insane.
The boon increase doesn’t work anyway, so that’s basically your low cd pre-patch version of Runes of Svanir or Vampirism aka Dracula.
You know how the Shield #5 works. If you don’t like the skill and want to move, get Sword OH – #4 block is usable on move.
If you don’t like trait proc, get Bulwark – less CC = better survival
Precision Strike to 5s Chill? You do know that it has 4s CD, right?
MH Sword is our most used weapon by far and can be included in every build. Doesn’t need anything.
As for OH Sword #5, I wouldn’t mind it being a skillshot or ground targeted ability. Something like:
Grasping Shadow
Blink to chosen location, bounding and dealing damage up to 3 enemies in area. If this skill strikes, shadowstep backwards, pulling them towards you.
Now it’s not only a more reliable CC, but also a movement skill – short range blink – if it hits nobody. So there’s some reason to pick it over Shield.
(edited by Rym.1469)
Would be cool if it also Poisoned or Crippled.
It’s okay on mid clocktower on Khylo since everyone is usually in range and you can easily decap/cap that point just spamming elite and knocking people off.
Don’t you even dare to try it on Foefire.
It won’t be a Necromancer podcast. It will be a drama podcast.
Well, I said it long ago – current Specializations are for Reaper, not Necromancer.
Well the Druid pet smokescale’s smoke assault (identical skill to UA) got its hits reduced from 7 to 5, which could be a potential need to revenant in the future.
I personally wouldn’t care if they did that as long as they game mallyx, Jalis, and Ventari anything from buffs to total conceptual reworks to make them more viable in pvp. I don’t think it’s healthy that 95% of revs only use glint and shiro on each and every build.
You can’t compare pet skill to actual profession ability. It’s like saying because Bears’ Defy Pain lasts for 5 seconds, Endure Pain on Warrior should’ve beeen 5s too.
And I’d argue that nerfing Sword #3 affects non Glint/Shiro power builds even more than current popular power spec.
Making #2 just a simple daze would work better.
Interesting factor of this skill is that people have learnt to count most popular power rev build’s cooldowns already and once warding rift and surge are used, some see it as opportunity window to burst. It’s fun suddenly bashing them with #2 and interrupting that burst. You can even catch unaware Thief players in such situation.

Look, someone has lost 1v1.
Permanent resistance bunker revs
Wat?
Since launch, I met only 4 other Revenants aside from myself who weren’t Shiro/Glint. One of them was decent enough not to die within 5 seconds.
Cool story bro
I’ve met a number of Revenants that have enough brains to think outside the glint/shiro copycat build everyone is using, but I guess you’re not one of them. Specifically, glint/mallyx variations that can stack might to deal the same damage while also being immune to condis.
The main problem with this meta is that over half of the classes out there can output ridiculous amounts of damage while being just as tanky as a bunker guard and having even more sustain than a d/d ele. There is a reason why only dragon hunter and revenant are viable zerker builds now, nothing else has enough damage to get through the tankiness and sustain every class has.
You realise that I specifically mentioned myself as one of Revenants playing other builds too and created guide on Celestial Mallyx/Glint Revenant for metabattle having played it on streams since BWE2, right?

I’ve played Ventari and it wasn’t tanky even with Minstrel ;P
I tried it with that amulet too.
Seemed like only support that wasn’t absolutely insane with it, but pug allies were still trying to actively avoid the tablet, so nvm.
