Since we are talking about adding simlar stuff from other games.

There is an old ps1 game called jade cocoon and the " late gane " for that is a never ending forest that scales up and counts how many forests you do.

So if we kepted the same 3 fractals and a boss although, after the bosss it asks you if you want to continue or go back to the lab. Then of course, the more you do, the harder it gets, nicer rewards and soon on.

The biggest problem with this idea though is in jade cocoon, the drop rates are very low , so you dont really fill up your bag space where as guild wars people will have half full – full bags at the end of the boss fractal.

Edit: I forgot to add that also for this idea they could use that er.. posudo random? ( idk what its called ) for choosing the levels. That rng that gets better the more times you roll like the rng that rage simulater uses ( dota 2 ). So for about the first 20 fractal bits you do, youll have some double ups although in the end you will run all fractal stages. Then the rng can reset or something like that

I suggested this in another post, basically I have a similar idea to yours:

All ascended stuff ( rings, armor, weapons etc ) can be salvaged but they all salvage down into like a fractal metal ( while the armor and weapons would salvage for normal stuff as well ). This would pull all ascended stuff into one material, and now that its just one material you can make alternate recipes for all ascended recipes using this new material, so you could loop them back into ascended things that you needed.

I was shown that not too long ago, we were told to blind spam, although the next time we got this fractal me and a engi friend went double supply on it and it worked aswell.

Im not sure how I feel about it, so I dont use it. To its defence, it seems something games done quick will do.

I’m totally all for clarification for the sake of stupid people, I just don’t understand why Gaile had to spell it out quite as she did…. shrugs those kitten buzzwords….. Pfffft.

Going in line with the thread though; I personally think there is a call for MANY improvements to Fractals, both with rewards and the actual content. I’m excited to see where this thread goes!

Although please remember that this guild is more of a notice board: everyone needs to seek out people they want help with. There is lots of info on the first page of people doing what, so ask around. I like elixir gun better, Sarah. The Condi cleanse, weakness and cripple rebuff spamming are just perfect. But again, I run pistol/pistol sinister at Mai. So my experience is different from you guys. You know my group. We always pug 2 slots.

Care to explain why? What about more people playing the content for reliable rewards is unappealing to you?

I would LOVE to see more people do fractals, it would be awesome!

I believe the reason why the fractal skins/tonic are so rare is, the fact you cant buy them. This is what adds to the excitement and disappointment when you finally get one. Everyone wouldn’t be as excited if you got one from buying it as someone else who just got it as a RNG drop. I do however, say that a chest in this day and age would be better although I would group up the skins and put them in different chest so its still a little RNG ( for example: melee, range, underwater fractal skin chest ).

Not everything needs to compete for reliable rewards per hour. There should be things that aren’t so " rewarding " as others, so I don’t see why fractals needs to compete against dungeons. If you want that all important coin per hour go do a second dungeon tour or do silverwaste. I’m sure that " late-game content " isn’t always the most efficient farm out there for other games too.

Speaking of rewards, fractals gives you ascended stuff so you can go higher, I believe this is the goal that anet tried to aim for. The fact that people have farmed so much that they are stockpiling these rewards was overlooked by anet.

U’know how if you run out of time killing the chanters and they get reinforcements and you stack and LoS them behind those piller things ( sorry! ). We tried doing that strategy with the four chanters that spawn when the hammer drops ( because we didnt have a guardian ) and it worked quite well.

Like, Ill amit it was a level 29 so they werent super tough although it did work and seems like it work work on 50 too..

The rings are worth 5 silver thats not even worth vendoring. They are completely useless to anyone that does regular fractals as they should have stockpiles of them already.

The skins are totally useless when you get something like your 3rd fractal scepter. All they do is take up bank space. Before when they were statless exotics we had to use transmutation stones to put the skin on a weapon but at the least we could salvage them for exotics if we didnt need them. Now we cant even do that. I dont have any use for my stockpile of fractal skins. Id like to be able to do something with them.

As someone said before. The rewards are pretty good for new players. The problem is fractals are endgame content for hardcore players. They should be rewarding for hardcore players.

Well thats up to you. I do fractals regularly and I vendor mine so I dont have a stockpile. True having an option to make fracral skins exotic, I like that.

The fractal rewards are to help for later fractals ( for the most part ) its just everyone reached the top really fast and I think this will always be a problem.

Depending on your computer knownlegde and how much trust you give your parents/brother/sister/best friend etc.

Move gw into a folder and lock it. Make your trusted person password it and then you wont be able to play untill they give you the password

Tried mossman last night. Pulled him out to our usual spot in the water, he teleported back to his house after a few seconds.

Seemed like it may have been fixed to us. Will convince guildies to try it again (hopefully tomorrow) to check.

Nope, I dont believe the fotm rewards are underwhelming.

While I can agree with everyone that you should get infused rings not normal rings at higher levels. Yes for me the rings are just sell-able loot although, I am thinking of making a assassians outfit so Ill be on the look out for those rings so I dont sell them.

As for the skins. I’m a engi so I cant use them and I have the skins I want anyway so they are all " useless " my peoples terms here. I collect then though like a personal collection so I enjoy getting them.

As for the chests, well.. Im a beserker player so that is the stats I like. I do like the ascended artisan achivement so Im workig slowly towards that with the chest I get. Yes I do go " aww :< " when I get another glove chest but thats the luck of the draw and waiting for it is ok with me.

Fractal is already giving way too much rewards right now. You get free 20 slot bags, dozens of ascended rings, can buy obsidian sharts, one of the highest changes to get ascended chests and unique skins. Also get gold and karma.

Now let’s see normal dungeons: gold and tokens to buy exotics.

Why buff the rewards?
I don’t remember anet saying fractal should be the best reward in the game. It is working as intended.

I disagree with " fractals giving too much rewards right now " ALTHOUGH, I will agree that the rewards are fine.

I know the rewards mean a lot to people here, and want to see them match dungeon rewards although I feel they need to work on other things first ( personalty I think the rewards are fine, apart from the rings at high levels and minor things like that. )

The biggest thing I would like to see is them working on AI.
I believe anet should take the meta strategies and throw them back at us!

we all know how devastating Captain Ashym is with his FGS, he needs this earlier on high levels ( something like 40+ ) and maybe give dulfy one too after she drops to half her hp.

Another spot that does this well is in Molten Furnace with the Molten Smoke Shaman, basically he blinds people. I mean even thief’s in WvW blind spam so adding one or two of them would make things harder.

I believe the Aetherblade’s have it right although I understand you can’t have everyone like that. I don’t think for the high levels ( 40+ ) and for future levels that you ( anet ) need to do a huge change to make them hard for us. What I do think though, is small changes to enemies and there AI will make it that way.

I would even go on to say, that you can use fractals as a testing ground for improved AI and with the future levels you can try new AI strategies against us and if it works, throw it into living story/where ever.

That’s my two cents for now, lets see where this takes us !!

While I was reading this I was thinking of the molten alliance fractal at the start where you stand/stack and how you can also stand on the spawn location and throw a reflect to achievement the same results and even go a little bit faster.

I will keep an eye and see where else I can do. Thanks for making me think, its funny how you can get suck/used to your own way of doing things and not question it.

After a LONG fractal run with many deaths, we finally reach my favorite boss. After a lot of wipes and with 3 " starting to break " outfits I was getting salty and annoyed. Then my playlist that I was listening to gives me one of my cheesy songs on the list and my mood change completely .

Morale of the story: when you get salty/annoyed stop for a second and go blast your favorite song cause it sure helped me ( along with great friends in that run )

I would suggest you to run Fotm with guildies or friends. Fotm community is the most toxic in this game

Edit: I was harsh, your right outside of groups fractals can be hard. Although its not the end of the world you can find great friends pug’ing. Its one way of finding great friends.

Had a great experience a short while ago in fractals where someone criticised my Warrior build (Regen Tank) because I wasn’t running the full zerk meta (Which I personally hate on Melee based characters)

in the end 3 guys dropped out/rage quit and I found a new party and finished the Aetherblade fractal

about 3-4 weeks ago I was again in the Aetherblade fractal with the same Warrior build and with a very friendly group this time
we got up to the Boss (ya know that annoying Asura with the golems and the room with the laser beams) and unfortunately my party being mostly glass canons got whiped

since I was the only one alive it was pointless to stay on the stack spot so Instead of just dying like most teams would start saying

instead I started running around the room with nothing but melee weapons (Greatsword/Sword+Shield) and completed the boss Solo by killing the last 3 golems on my own..

it’s moments like this which have happened to me many times in the past that make me look back at those comments from arrogant players mocking my builds and think.. yeah who’s builds sucks now lol

Im sorry to hear you have had bad experince with people running meta. Please allow me to add that not everyone who follows the meta are ragequits jerks. I believe it comes down to different understandings although, Ill leave it at that. If you would like to play with a more friendly meta player look some of us forum people up ^^

level 50, 100AR ( just got the last 20 today ).
I feel very experience about fractals and feel I have an in depth understanding of them. I know the casual strategies and a few " high dps strategies " too. I also believe I can explain why we do things, stand were we do.

Your build/gear choices

I call my " armor " , " outfits " although…

I go 6/6/0/2/0 with my engi. I have 4 berserker outfits ( scholar, strength, ranger, vampire ) and one celestial outfit with traveler. I use celestial while running wisps on swamp and when running with friends through snowbound on the way to the end boss. Everywhere else its berserker, although it depends on my mood, friends, and how well I’m playing that day for if I stay in scholar or change to strength or ranger. My trinkets and backpack are always berserker.

If I’m not taking match up specific stuff I will go Healing turret, flamethrower, ( elixir gun or throw mine ) and nades.

Quick question, I know ele’s are great and everything although is it possible to do enough damage to like the legendary shaman and tom without the help of ele’s to have less shield phases and stuff?

It just heavily, HEAVILY implies new fractal content. In the release there was no comment at all about dungeon stuff

I don’t know the current pug tactics since it’s been rather long since i last had to resort to pugging fractals but our current strategies are pretty much what we use in our fractal guides.

Some tactics might have evolved over time to be more aggressive and risky but in general the guides are a good baseline of what we do.

How this all started is I would like to know everything I can, and everything there to know about fractals.

The main question is the strategies you guys use that are different to the basic strategies ( for lack of a better word ). I’m will go through DnT and KING video’s as well, I just want to also talk about it somewhere as well.

Its stacking spots like the cage at the start of Volcanic, a stacking spot I just heard today just right at the start of Urban Battlegrounds, the idea that you can kill boss’s in one run ( Tom, both end boss’s on Dredge ) and so forth. I guess Ill call it your advance strategies for organize play.

There is a whole new level of play when your organized, and I am learning them in fractals. I also want to pass some of this on as I teach ( which I still try and do ) and with everyone, although I do know your strategies rely on everyone in top " high dps builds " so we cant do exactly everything you do but it shows everyone what you can do with deep knowledge.

so if you know strategies that I might not know, please let me know!

I was talking to some friends about fractals and stuff and I would like to talk to people from DnT and KING because I feel I have large holes in my Knowledge of um.. " high Dps group strategies " I believe I have casual strategies down, although I would like to learn everything I can.

Im lucky in that I sent out and reveice invites to fracrals so 99% of the time I dont need to PuG. Although I know PuG pain. Its always nice and you almost take it for granted with your friends when your group is a finely tune machine and then you come to PuGs and you miss it.

Often in PuG groups, Ill ask what strat we are doing or if anyone know’s " the strat " before key events ( cliffside mainly ) although I dont want to be that person who joins last and barks orders so I do add that Im just trying to be on the same page as everyone. ( which I feel is important )

Ps: yes to you both, character skips and holds ( like icebow ) are great " nice-to-have-things "

No, I dont believe guardians and ele’s are required for lvl40+ fractals. For shaman, ( as much as I hate saying it ) yes, guardians have become a requirement. For ele’s people are just used to the conjure weapon damage they provide for awhile now.

If your on Na, come fractal with me. We can pretend to recover your run by doing another one =)

That guide you have on www.gw2dungeons.net for new players is amazing source; if players wanting to get better spent a few minutes of their playtime on this guide, they would see more of a improvement that simply putting on armor.

This of course is almost like homework ; its more the
" play to win " playstyle so its interesting to say the lesst

I do believe there is a time and a place to kick people from groups and thats near the start, although as others have said, there is no way to know the whole story. There could be or not be more to this and we will never know. reguardless, being kicked that far in would really hurt
