“We’ve established that Taimi’s an orphan. The question of Taimi’s guardianship is very much up in the air right now, she’s under the protection of Rata Sum’s Prodigy Protective Services but at the moment she’s a student in the Synergetics college and she’s interested in exploring other options. That creates some friction between her and her mentor Zojja.
“Taimi’s fascination with Scarlet largely is a case of hero worship. She looks at Scarlet and she’s willing to overlook the villainy and the mass murder and the destruction inflicts, for a crack at the kind of freedom she sees Scarlet enjoying. She’s a genius but like all of us at a younger age, she has impulse control problems and sometimes this stirs up trouble. I think players will see that from the very beginning when they follow her into the mists.”
I use staff 80% of the time I play guardian, but in marionette, I only use it in defending lanes.
There is no point using it against a single champ. Hammer/GS/Sceptre is much more reliable.
This isn’t entirely true. When taking down your warden, use a stronger weapon. Once it is done, switch to staff, because it can hit wardens on other platforms, and godkitten if they don’t always need the help.
From my experience, the mobs die where they spawn (snare + immobilize), so what’s the point in keeping the stuff repaired? On my last marionette in overflow for example, which was a perfect run, my lane didn’t even use a golem or barricades and no one stayed in the back. 1 person was on a siege weapon though, the other was never repaired.
I’d say that experience is atypical. I’ve seen plenty of leaks, and those barricades really help with catching up.
Personally, I think the ballistae are useless, but the other siege engines are very handy. The arrow carts are too fragile, though, and it always seems like the golems are grabbed by people that don’t know how to handle them.
Um, what key? If you’re missing just one of the meta achieves, do the daily in just over an hour from now.
I’m still trying to avoid that cursed platform one Stomp. I got all the others, but I got the meta long before that thanks to dailies.
Had a hard time with that one too. In general, it seems best to wait on the right side of the platform (as seen facing the regulator) and waiting for the first stomp, which should happen on the opposite side. When the circle displays, run towards it. It should hit long before you arrive, and the area you are leaving will be the next attack zone.
Now if I could just analyze the last couple.
The Consortium IS up to something. You can find reps skulking around Kessex Hills, looking into Scarlet’s methods.
You’ll have to wait and see how we integrated story into the release. I think it works pretty well but I’m biased. I am looking forward to the feedback we receive next week.
you also thought scarlet was a good villain.
I also know the entire plot a year in advance.
That’s kinda cheating
My guess? He is going to die a hero. By distracting Scarlet (or the main villain) so much, that we players are able to finish her/it off.
Third Worst Canthan New Years ever!
(feel benevolence from above, kitten!)
Maybe the logic is don’t put pve content in pvp area.
Why do you want to wvw with people that don’t even want to be there?
Logic says that content added to WvW is NOT PvE. That means that this Living Story Update is not PvE.
Good news for you! You can simply ignore the achieves and go about doing PvE. If you start feeling bad, just remind yourself that 23 of the last 24 Living Story achievement categories required no WvW interaction at all on your part.
Good news for WvW players! They get some achieves for once.
I have to grudgingly agree with this, as it’s been my argument on everything else people keep kittening about. No one is holding a gun to your head. You do these things or ignore them of your own volition.
That said, I’ve gotten my feet wet enough in WvW to know which of my characters are likely to survive an encounter or two…. but, a lot of my friends who aren’t in my guild… well…
Why do pve players whine about LW in EoTM – fist of all there are now queues so you can get in anytime you want – no more “I can’t adjust it to my playtime” arguments. There are no server specifications so even low-pop servers gain same amount of people as T1 servers do. You are not restricted to playing alone. The only difference is that there are more hostile creatures – be it Legendary Bosses or players.
The two things that make PVE players complain about PVE:
1. PVE players basically have a sort of combination of fear, anxiety, and anger at competition and the idea of other players being able to kill them.
2. In GW2, the mechanics of NPCs are extremely easy to predict and avoid. This makes it hard for PVE players to go into PvP where they are just taking advantage of some poorly designed NPC that simply requires them to dodge at the right moment every few seconds.
You forgot 3. The average competent WvW player is a one-shotting machine that can’t be damaged, let alone downed.
There’s only one explanation.
You mean Seeres, right?
Edit: Even the new maps like Southsun are just too “happy happy” with a “coconuts bras and bikinis” feel. Just a holiday resort. You can do better!
I think that is an intentional part of its charm, how not 10 yards away from the Consortium-funded tourist trap, you can meet a horrible end. Kinda like modern-day Jamaica
Please, no.
There’s enough collect-a-monster crap with just minis.
Not going to happen.
I’d say try again. This time, use the search function in your character’s inventory and bank slots. I’ve had items go ‘missing’ where the only thing that made them turn up was to use the search function to weed out the visual chaffe. It’s really difficult to find a particular tree in a forest ;D
Also, use a unique part of its name and spell it correctly. ‘lynx’ would do.
to be specific, what was disabled was the original method for getting a Recipe: Gift of Souls , along with the recipe sheets for the other two Halloween gifts. The recipes themselves didn’t change.
I’ve been seeing a lot of griping that platforms can’t help each other. This isn’t true. Last night, my team and I took out two champs in one run – one on our platform, and one on our neighbors. It didn’t really help, because the neighboring team was already flattened, but we claimed the moral victory.
The trick is to use large range/radius effects that don’t require line-of-sight. Guardian Staff 1 and Guardian Shield 4 are some examples of things that will reach across the gulf and strike an enemy near the edge. Shouts and Spirits should also work for allies in range. There should be other tactics that I’m sure someone will follow up with.
Generally, you shouldn’t assist the other team at the expense of your own. More often than not, the neighboring platforms’ occupants are going to be out of reach, so you could end up waiting a long time for them to clue in AND the champ to cooperate. But it beats standing by and thinking you can’t do anything.
Pack that skill bar appropriately!
Good points there.
I agree, it would be nice for the marionette after a platform broke a regulator to have the option to burn down the wall (yeah takes time, but it’s better than watching things go horribly wrong) to be able to assist (range at least) into another platform. Even if it was just to throw banner in.
With certain skills and weapons, this is possible… however I’ve rarely seen a group so on the ball as to engage the thing within range of a platform that could help. In fact they seem to take delight in staying as far away as possible ;(
Protect the brew shipment is not a SB pre-event. Nor is Defeat the champion rotting ancient oakheart. If the champ oak isn’t spawning at all, that’s a different problem, but neither of these are related to SB or the appearance of portals.

I wonder if the -1% damage from guards WvW infusions are working properly?
At 1%, how could you even tell?
Are +5% damage potions better than superior sharpening stones or master maintenance oil?
Depends on your stats and whether you’re based on condition damage (potion all the way) or power damage. Comparing a tier 2 potion to a tier 6 sharpening stone or oil… almost certainly not.
I think you are grossly overestimating the amount of work it should take to fix this bug.
As for being low on the priority list, this bug report is one of the most viewed (if not the most viewed) in the bugs forums. As of this moment, it has taken over 2 months to fix a bug that almost certainly can be found and fixed in less than a minute. That’s pretty bad.
Trust me. I’m in Q/A (different company), and I get a little frustrated too when I see something that is obviously a simple fix like this get pushed back for months and months on the basis that we didn’t rate it ‘breaks the program’. Even low-hanging fruit begging to be picked gets ignored because there’s something worse ahead of it, and that thing is taking weeks to figure out. This kind of stuff happens.
Part of our process is to up the priority on old bugs when we do a release so that non-breaking issues will get looked at. Even that’s not a guarantee that it will get looked at immediately, since we have multiple severity ratings.
A touch of heaven cheese burger:D
as opposed to a cheese burger in paradise?
Rarity. Until recently, you couldn’t craft them. You only received them as rare dungeon drops, or bought the best ones soulbound from one of the temples. Other trinkets are readily craftable to most any level you need, or can be bought from most heart merchants.
Also, back items can affect your appearance. Other trinkets do not.
If you have a lot of NPC mail, that will prevent you from getting this. Dump your old congratulatory Heart messages that you promised you’d read but never will (after you get the money, of course) and old Living Story announcements that you no longer need
I put this together a while back. Some of these are Living Story related. Most are Jump Puzzles or Guild Puzzle areas. The Aetherblade retreat is no longer accessible, but the rest can be visited.

I see one item missing. There’s a new jp in the area north of Lion’s Arch.
Northern Shiverpeaks server will liberate these daily at server reset (around 7 PM EDT), starting with the southern temples and working mostly north and east. This usually takes a couple of hours, so you may need to check their progress and see if the temple you want is open. Other servers probably do it too.
Take note, if you’re collecting temple armor, that the stats on a particular armor set are not consistent over every piece. If you want a full set of Carrion, you’ll have to go to different temples and check what each has.
Uh.
Honestly, we found a way around that last night on Teq, and I’m not going to say what it was for fear that THAT will be nerfed, too. We actually beat her in less time than we usually do using embers.
It’s a good thing the balance team can’t identify you or look up how you did it…. by, say, your game login, which is completely different from your forum login….
The question is what is she going to drill? Is there some huge pressure point underneath the surface she wants to puncture? Is this a planet-wide acupuncture schematic?
Underneath (or very near) LA is a gate to the CTT – home of the former Great Destroyer and supposedly where Primordus is also sleeping (-GW EotN).
An expected disappointment to be sure. Really tired of this (it takes 50 people to do or fail) deal with events, other than dragons, and the lag between events is tedious. People don’t have an hour or two to wait for a 10 minute event. Also, FF XIV managed to put two new events in several areas with 24.85mb, whereas GW2 had patches 15 times higher for 2 events in 1 area each.
They made alterations in other areas, and the asset model ain’t the same. So even if you weren’t comparing apples and oranges, your argument still isn’t valid.
Evidence? Forums indicate lots of complaining…
As they always do.
I’m not going to gripe about the wait. Some people complete LS in the first two days, wash their hands of it, then complain there’s nothing to do. I’m not one of those. It’s been nice having a leisurely pace for a change. I was able to go experience other parts of the game without any worries.
Should have seen this coming when people were asking for the game to be more like Dark Souls…
In Dark Souls, you can knock critters off a cliff, and a distant hit does not instaheal. Let’s get THOSE in the game.
Remember how the events in this game were gonna automatically scaled based on the players involved? Gotta love bait and switch.
Yeah I also remember how there wasn’t going to be grinding or a gear treadmill. Die instantly when wearing lv 80 exotics? OK. “get gear nub”
Welcome to life in WvW.
Wait, were we talking PvP again?
Jade Quarry organizes Teq parties and probably would do well at this too. Not sure about your hours intersecting theirs, since I’m not from that server.
The other three options look sound to me.
So the next time people are griping about things never getting fixed around here, we can at least say attention was being placed somewhere necessary and needed. And probably thoroughly unnoticed by any. ;D
Good job guys. I still appreciate it all the same
Kessex Hills looks amazing now with the tower parts and vines lying around, and I love that some of the bosses fell out of the tower and are crawling around the area. Great stuff.
Here here…. While I personally think there should be more wreckage for something of that size, at least the surrounding environment has been (appropriately) thoroughly trashed, and has been for a month or better now. Some thought was put into the development there.
i haven’t used it but based on the ‘Candy Corn Node’ which yields about 10 pieces daily, you’d be making about ~20s a day in mats (which are currently borderline useless except for maybe upgraded to the next tier.) So this little ‘gem’ of an item should pay for itself after, roughly, 400 days of continual use. go ahead and spring for the unlimited mining pick and, after 4.5 years you will have ‘free and unlimited’/time-gated copper, silver, and gold that you can do all kinds of nifty things with like craft level 5-60 trinkets (fine print: pebbles, lumps, and nuggets sold seperately)
Protip:
Hold on to those lower gemstones.
;)
Still not sure why a plant could explode, but eh, the story instance was fun and the cinematic was cool to watch.
This got me thinking. There are now 4 ‘companions’. Braham is guard, Marjory is theif, Kashmeer is mesmer and Rox is ranger. This leaves one spot open to finish off a fabulous five, which would be your character. Could be a set-up for a new destinies edge with you in the staring role.
Marjory’s a necro. She just acts sneaky (that whole noir detective thing).
They still need an Asura and a Sylvari to complete the multicultural theme… oh look, Traherne isn’t busy any more ;D Or maybe that Consortium sylvari that decided to take Southsun matters into his own hands last time out…
Official word says an asura is joining this crew of NPCs in the next update.

is the big plant a mushroom or a flower? because if its a mushroom, the mycelium would just make it come back somewhere else, mushrooms are just the fruiting body of the whole organism, eg, the biggest known organism in our world is a huge fungus that covers around 2,384 acres.
the giant one in kessex might be harder to get rid of than we originally thought…
Some of the NPCs in the area mention the root system still causing problems, so you may be spot on.
WoW is awful at this. First time I ran into it was on their winter holiday event. Where essentially it required the PvP newb to intentionally handicap whatever poor team they ended up on. It made me so furious, that I resolved both not to do any PvP and not to do any more holiday achievements. And thus every holiday, I was again reminded of how angry I was at Blizzard for shoving PvP in a PvE achievement I would have otherwise loved.
I had hoped that GW2 was beyond this sort of problem — e.g. by making PvP optional in Daily’s and Monthlys. But now I see that they’re not. It’s a shame.
As much as you might see it as a problem for PvEers to be forced into PvP for some achievements, the reverse issue is actually probably worse. If you’re a dedicated PvP player that happens to snag a precursor, you’re in for some pain, because the opportunities for materials to make it a legendary are slim. Same for doing most achievements, because the lion’s share are in PvE.
Honestly, though. PvP involvement is still optional. No one is holding a gun to your head to finish that map, and aside from a few achievement points, the only need to do so is completion or making a legendary.
As far as that goes, I am an absolute PvP noob, and I still have the WvW section completely mapped out on 2 characters and mostly mapped out on 4 others, and you don’t need to enter sPvP for map completion. WvW isn’t horrific if you stick with a big group and map areas your server controls. You won’t get an area completed in a day, and may have to come back in a week or two when your server has a different starting area. Understand that going in. It’s not that painful
Recently learned this one.
If you’re swimming and need to get to the surface fast, hold down Jump. You’ll move upwards in addition to whatever direction you are going.
Logic, really. You can’t ‘mine’ cloth or leather, not directly anyways. Technically you can’t mine some of the metals that are available directly without some sort of smelting process.
With leather, you do have one more option: Focus on enemies that drop hides. They don’t usually drop gear and it should help your rate of return.
Also, it’s worth noting that a character rarely seems to get armor and weapons suited for his profession. It’s easier to get gear for one character if you use a different one.

My advice is to build a character in each slot, then let it sit idle if you have no interest in developing multiple characters.
The main reasoning here is birthdays. In GW1, you received miniatures on each character’s birthday, which would eventually become significant in EotN, and each year the rewards would change; newer characters would be stuck with older tiers of rewards until they had aged enough. Empty slots got nothing, which meant a wasted opportunity and, if you did eventually fill the slot, a longer time to get something worthwhile.
In GW2, there is something similar in place, but it will take another 6-7 months before we see if the annual birthday gift upgrades over time.
I don’t doubt that if Evon won the election, Kiel would have done the exact same thing and grumbled about Evon being interested in Fractals (remember he promised to show us Abbadon) and something else about his actions in Tyria.
Which raises a question… since Kiel’s Thaumanova research primary REAL purpose was to show Scarlet’s involvement there, would she have been shown to be present in Evon’s Abaddon fractal (via time travel or some other McGuffin)?
or follow your own login which is the same for game and forum…
NSP does a temple zerg daily, following reset (so I am told). Balthazar is towards the end of the chain, but we’ve sent Orr into overflows the last few times I followed the zerg. Be on time or early
If that is true, i wish that elder dragon will just stomp her and say something like “oops i did it again” to end her. lol
