According to Mordremoth’s twitter, he’s awake because we defeated Scarlet.
Wait, Mord has a Twitter account? What about a Pinterest?
“This week’s meal, I’m going to have an overrun Rata Sum.”

“NAILED IT!!”
Another thing to note is that they upped the frequency of aether laser attacks at the ends of the hologram arena. As in the spots people were afking because they were safe. They also added the aether laser to the fail conditions for the No More Tricks achievement.
It’s a little late, but they did add some incentive for people to stay active. It doesn’t prevent the afk from getting rewards for sitting around, but that would require an overhaul of event rewards, which I don’t see happening.

Ah, thanks for the update. As I mentioned, I still don’t have it.

it’s enough to check for servers without LA overflows
How do you do that without spending your guest options?

If servers do not have enough players to get 150 people together at LA for the living story event, the great final, something is seriously wrong.
Why is ANet so resilient to the idea of server merges. The population of those servers must be abysmal.
Because they know the exact numbers and you don’t.
And from what I experienced ingame, they really do not want to share those numbers ever.
With people paying real cash for the privilege of server changes, they have a reasonable expectation that they will not be removed from their chosen home, even if they go inactive. So you can’t merge servers without causing a PR issue.

If you want an analogy that is exactly like the current achievement here is one. Let’s say that I’m trying to pass every test this year. In one of my classes I am given a test that is so difficult to complete in the time allotted for it and I fail. How about some of the questions were bugged and there were no correct answers but for whatever reason it was too late to resolve it. I then ask the professor to remove the test from my records. Did I actually pass every test that year? No. Whether or not the test is on my record, I still failed it.
This is really a extremely bad analogy. College tests tend to have a major impact on grades, which more so than representing a few points to a gradually increasing score, have the potential to make you repeat 6 months of work from the beginning, costing you close to $1000 for the grand benefit of actually making you look less attractive to employers. Not getting an achievement means…. what, it takes you another day to recover those points?
I think they should double its worth. No, I don’t have it yet. Ridiculous difficulty should have ridiculous incentive.
BTW, they cranked down the hp on the knights last night, so there is at least a snowball’s chance of getting this now :/

Read that, which doesn’t elaborate about the Gift’s usefulness, just the shards
Blade shards may yet drop from defeated troops even after the events, however if they don’t I’m not to worried as many players have a ton and will still need to get the other mats;
Danicia states in another thread states the devs plan more uses for these things
Actually in the ending video it looked like she was being raised back up by some force ^^
that explains the Teq connection
No one in the history of ever has enjoyed or remembers how they enjoyed a game because of how hard it kicked their kitten
q.v. Dark Souls, Demon Souls, God of War, Devil May Cry, or fans of trib-mode SAB for obvious rebuttal
3.- Solo instance where you meet Braham, Rox, Kasmeer and Marjorie to go face Scarlet who is downed.
Using the spinal blades portals sends you straight to 3, but doesn’t mean you can’t go ahead and do it the regular way later. Also you don’t miss much story either (other than we defeated knights, teleported up, fought scarlet and wounded her), most of the story bit is in the solo instance in the first place.
I was very glad ArenaNet had the foresight to put in this portal.
Not only is it an option for people who just want to see the story and not do the group fights, but after I did all the LA fights and group hologram encounter my client crashed in the middle of the dramatic ending cinematic. Rather than do all of the fights all over I just went to the portal. I would have been very annoyed if I had to go through all the fights to see the ending.
Well done ArenaNet.
The only problem is that you needed to tell people about this useful option. It is not obvious in the game and I haven’t found a wiki page about it yet.
One of the achievements leads you there and requires you to talk to the NPC at that location. There’s even a big gold star on the map.
I also approve of the easy way in, but I’d like to suggest adding a different intro cutscene to explain why Scarlet is badly wounded and close to death when you enter
Please don’t delete them!
You can hold on to your extra blade shards, as the team will be adding something later which will allow you to convert the shards to something of value. Dev will be announcing more on that later. Thanks!
Thank you, Danicia, that’s a very timely warning.
Unfortunately, I know many people who have already tossed theirs…
if anyone happens to have the Gift of Blades handy, could you check it in the forge against Mystic Coins? I find it hard to believe that something with such an auspicious name couldn’t be used to make a weapon instead.

Oh, while I might have your eye’s for a moment, maybe a video covering the importance of food, utility, and stacking buffs please? The majority of players I’ve been in zone with today haven’t had any. With a DPS check like the Knights, I figured players would know to come ready to hit hard but, I don’t think players care enough or simply know enough about the mechanics of foods and utilities beyond magic find. That everyone knows well it seems.
To be fair, using consumables was stressed in the patch notes, which everyone really should be reading. And after the previous chapter, everyone should at least have those potions.
I have a feeling the only way to fix the herd mentality on this issue is to use it. Players will always pick up free buffs, so get working on food trays and those new sharpening stone stations.

Of course in the heat of battle everything is a kittenaotic (no idea why that word is censored), but how much more realistic and exciting would this make it.
Chaotic isn’t. You preceded it with bit and followed that with a ch word.

First time, I didn’t even finish the fight. I entered an OF with 3 other players, and with 3 minutes to go, we had gotten it down maybe to 60%. Then I get the option to ‘join my party’, like they had just entered a dungeon. They HAD finished it, on their map, and I was willing to sacrifice a little story in case I never got this lucky again.
(I didn’t know about the backdoor…)
Second win (after many fails), I did see the chest and snag it, but I nearly missed it too
Go to any city that once had Heralds and you’ll find they’ve all been simultaneously kidnapped. They’re just not there anymore. Never noticed it until now, so I have no clue when they were removed. I say, good riddance! I never talked to them. Apparently neither did anyone else because nowhere have I seen it mentioned, not even on the Wiki. The in game mails are much better at giving information, as is the updated LW UI in the corner.
Anyone else notice the absence of Heralds? Do you miss them? When did they disappear? Am I the only who wished they would be replaced by the “Historian” NPC that’s been suggested? My game’s not just screwed up or something, right? They really are gone?
Noticed they were missing in the previous chapter. They’ve probably been gone for a lot longer than that, since I can’t recall being bothered by them any time recently

So who hurt Scarlet so badly? Poor girl was ready to be impaled by a quaggan finisher by the time my ‘hero’ got there…
Did you play the event chain? That Aether-Hologram exploded with her right on top of it.
I’m not the OP, but I haven’t seen this posted.
Me and my party ended up going in different gates. After 17 minutes of beating on the boss and getting pretty much nowhere, I was given the option to join my party at the ending, like it was a dungeon path. So I took the option and ended up going in without seeing parts 2 or 3 of the fight.
While I enjoy all the flash and pretty lights we are treated to in this chapter, I was wondering if it wasn’t also a problem for some players. Red-green colorblindness is a thing, after all, and requiring players to collect all the primaries to have an effect might lead to some confusion if you can’t tell your rubies from your emeralds.

C) Selling Tormented weapons on the store just makes me angry that there’s no way to get them besides random. It’s a slap on the face for any GW1 veterans who had them and loved them.
In my book, every single player who used those ugly things in Guild Wars 1 deserved a decent slap across the face for some time. Doubly so in combination with FoW, Bandana and Chaos gloves.

And i still want to know what nasty stuff Caithe did !
I’ve got a feeling a certain Sylvari didn’t get to go home after it was discovered he wasn’t from around here…

Why do people have to blindly love this content? Why is it wrong for some people to recognize how bad the story is? Why can’t they point out why it’s bad in the hopes that it doesn’t happen again? I loved the story in GW1. GW2 (especially LS) has been a train wreck.
And why is it that people that didn’t like the story MUST be smarter than everyone else?
GW1 was a clichestorm. But tropes aren’t bad, yo. Lighten up.

Poor Marjory, you’re not wearing enough clothes!
Come to think of it, with Kasmeer wearing nothing but aether and a smile, how is she getting through these fights?
Let’s see, we got a human spellcaster and a sturdy norn warrior 2 times larger than the spellcaster.
The larger one would fall harder, just saying.
Ever hit a deer with your car, and the deer walked away?
Plus with Braham being a Guardian with better armor and magic devoted to personal shielding, I give Braham the edge.
Anet have failed miserably to address how ineffective conditions are in pve due to condition caps. This is a slap in the face.

Why did the NPCs not want to know what Scarlett had unleashed? Us the players of course know what has happened because of the cutscene, but none of the NPCs will.
It just came across as rather moronic that they didn’t care about what was coming. Frustrating to watch to be honest.
I have a feeling they recognized it as an obvious cover for buying time. The NPCs didn’t plan to kill her outright. They’ve had plenty of experience with her to expect yet another back up plan and probably shouldn’t have bantered with her even as much as they did.
(edited by Sariel V.7024)
As I understand it, Yes, and anytime (though they have removed forge combinations in the past. I don’t see it happening with this item).
Assuming Scarlets raids are still happening every three hours, the aetherblades appear there, if you manage to get through enough waves. With everyone pretty much doing anything else, killing all the enemies is pretty unlikely

Here here. Despite the cacophany of kvetching on the forum, I’ve mostly enjoyed the ride and changing up of mechanics (we’ll discuss Marionette achievements later). I haven’t seen this last chapter but I’m expecting good things.
It’s a straight up slap to the face.

Conditions were never viable in PVE, especially in zerg events, wonder when people learn it.
My condi was doing just fine in the previous chapter, and dished out more than enough mass pain to compensate for low dps companions. Epidemic for the assist, if not the win.
Also available from events in LA, probably still from bags
The poster of the post in question was warned that this would happen by another poster.
The people who sacked the people who were sacked have just been sacked?
We now present a thread of speculation, created entirely by llamas.
What, voiceover, or sound engineer?
I smell that the day Tengu are released, all Rangers will reroll Tengu and spam dat Barrage in zergs.
Glorious dreamsWould you want a race on your side that so casually slaughters fleeing survivors seeking refugee?
Yes. Oh God, yes! ;D
Note that the words used were “any particular character we would recognize.”
It was never explicitly stated that this couldn’t be an in-game character we simply haven’t heard of yet.
Already noted (still feeling the burn from the fragments/hideout issue). Not getting my hopes up.
Plus I see literally no other explanation why this recurring narrator would keep using that floaty, occasionally threatening voice with bizarre reverb to rally us to get pumped unless it was to stay in-character.
I don’t think it’s the same actor in all the voiceovers. It’s definitely not the same effects on the voice as when they released the Tower. And we’ve had a male at least once.
usually non-ambient npc dialogues are recorded in the log ^
But i don’t want to read it. I want to hear it
I have to play without sound and I read fast, so the opposite can also be true…
If you took away the champ bags or whatever loot then people will no longer bother to do the event and you’ll be in an even worse situation. People need an incentive to continue doing an event after they have experienced it enough times and/or gotten the achievements.
This ^^
Make an unannounced cut to the number of bags dropped by the event monsters. People will slack off as they get the point, and, let’s face it, many will remain because they never will
Well…. there is a Grawl city out in the Dredgehaunt…
I wouldn’t save them.
If they introduce anything new, no currency they are dumping is going to be what you use to buy them. And if they aren’t dumping it, then the means of getting more will be around.
Or it’ll be like those wings you buy with Zhitaffy, or the new Halloween weapon recipes, and there’d be no humanly possible means of actually getting the things without resorting to powertrading. Which you can’t do with account-bound heirlooms.
Seriously, spend the things.
it amazes me that people assume and speculate that the voices in the trailers have anything to do whatsoever with in game characterization.. i’m actually a bit surprised they don’t just get a random person to do it.. i was glad to hear that voice in more
trailers though
Because not everyone is Don LaFontaine, the announcer guy who is instantly recognizable as his own character: the Announcer Guy ;D
Thank you, Ms. McCoy, because I was seriously not expecting an answer. ;D Oh well. Maybe next time I’ll stumble into an actual mystery
I would be nice for Atlas to incorporate short stories like “What Scarlet saw”.
Good idea. And I expect the devs will agree.
Thanks for the replies. I stopped at about three from the end when I learned that the end of the PS was a dungeon; so, no, I haven’t made it there.
If you want map completion…
I know the dragon on the image appears in the starting zone for the Sylvari. But Mordremoth him/her/itself is already awake.
There is actually NO official information whatsoever about Mordremoths state at this time.
We do know that it is connected to Maguuma, which would mean that had it been awake, we would have seen its effects by now, and we haven’t (as far as we know) and thus it is very unlikely that it is awake.
There are two (maybe three) gates that go further into Maguuma. All are sealed and physically separated from players. They’re obvious points for expansion.
Hope you remembered your airship…
Foxx, at this point I think you’re right about there not being enough evidence to get my hopes up. You summed up the skeptical view more concisely than I could.
Still, I can’t keep ‘em down, and I’m still hoping the other forum-goers may have some other things to share
On the Pale Tree, that one occured to me too, but I don’t think she has the heavy reverb that we hear in the narration. It’s been too long since I’ve seen a cutscene with her ‘mouth’ though.
I recommend actually following the thread since you last posted. We did the math and figured out that the “leechers” aren’t interfering with anyone. So, no, it’s still not your business.
That’s the wonderful thing about statistics. Properly presented, they’re the one area of mathematics where you can pass off lies as truth.
So, yeah, still my business.
