@Raven…the opening clip they didnt start running away but ended up running. Found it funny that I had 2 people fleeing and after all that chasing I ended up about 20 meters from where the fight began hehehe =D

But I hear ya…the Regen bunker thing does get a bit stale but at least it’s a somewhat different spin on it. Waiting to see what the next patch brings and PRAYING they merge Bow traits to allow me to try something different without sacrificing too much survival.

Knock back, Barrage and Rapid fire for Thieves are the main reasons I had stayed with it.

One day they will buff my Long Bow but until then I will keep trudging away as is =D

Current Archer build, GS moves in smoothly if hybrid melee/bow.

Uses Pair of Jellyfish and Raven/Owl

Very good mix of Toughness/Regen/Protection and Vigor with 60% passive condition reduction

Maintains 1/3 crit rate with solid base power.

Likely that is in my future. Still, would like to see the difference in damage between the 2 builds. Maybe I could guest in some PvE on your server..or vice versa..to see the spread.

There is a thing called solo WvW roaming. Google it.

Yes, this thing where you end up leaving WvW at the end of your playtime having died ten times as much as anyone else, watched more players run away from fight than finish them, and lost far more currency on repair costs than you gained.

Because everyone else’s experience WvW solo roaming is akin to yours…

10K Kills, well over 4K badges all told, have good fun with regularity. Rank 36 all Solo roaming/guild small man, no zerging…

playing weeknight 2-3 hours casual play with more on weekends /shrugs

As a person who mains a ranger and has about 300 hours on an ele it’s easy. Ranger BM bunker or trapper can be killed. Yes they have tons of toughness and healing. However condition removal skills are lacking greatly. Stack bleeds and immobilize them that works 99.9% of the time. Ignore the pet also most rangers plan on you focusing on the pet and not them. On my ranger I run a hybrid build I focus on range and seem to be able to kite most people and take them out. BM and most trappers rely heavy on pets. Bleed them and immobilize ignore the pet or immobilize it. Rangers are still one of the weakest WvW classes.

Full bunker Ranger with 0-0-30-10-30 here.

3300 Attack (no bloodlust) Tough 2100 Armor 3100 1000 healing (2 passive regens) 20K Hits (Barkskin) with SoR and 60% passive condition reduction. Ridiculous Vigor/Regen and protection on dodge.

All this to say with no sacrifice to survival my condition management is fine Sir.

Good stuff, I like that a wider spectrum of the community is thinking outside the box and that multiple viable builds and styles are coming forward. Only a good sign for Rangers as a community.

Yeah, 3 Signets =) I like to be tough w/o hitting a button. Though I noticed its still using sigils of blood, the link is a few days old…I have since gone back to Energy Sigils

I like the Ranger runes, 5% more damage for both me and pets, a touch of Crit in there and the badly needed precision so I don’t compromise the 0-0-30-10-30

I had thresholds, wanted 500 healing but that will come with full Ascended build, besides that I hit Every other mark I wanted. the build has 20011 hits so Barkskin at 5K.

3K attack
1/3 Crit with 20% Damage
2K Tough
3K Armor
20K hits
3 Passive Regens
Vigor Machine = Protection machine

With a 100% Bunker Spec.

Really farming those events is all about running fast from one spot to the next and tag as much mobs as you can before they melt down to the zerg…

When was the last time you were in Cursed Shore running penit/shelter??

Cursed Shore is no longer about tagging mobs. All the MF mob-tagging leechers left weeks ago. The players who can still farm there use DPS, stability and condition removers, all the things rangers don’t have. I don’t even bother bringing my ranger to Cursed Shore anymore.

The players doing this now are mainly warriors and guardians. Sometime is it just 3-5 of us (using my guardian). defending one of the bases, I often run the escort missions solo, or with 1 or 2 others.

I still see the odd ranger showing up, usually running a trap/condition build with a drake or spider. They must have missed the memo and they don’t stick around for very long …

Perhaps a 30/30/x/x/x full zerker dual bow ranger can still farm penit/shelter successfully, but seems these builds are not popular anymore, and for good reason.

I made 10.5 gold in 2 hours just yesterday so its still quite effective, just don’t dwell on the Vets/Champs until you hit the trash mobs first.

Which trait do you get for 10 in the Vitality line?

5% health to Power since its all about the Tag and move on.

Strategically Strafe around the target and piercing arrows will get you a ton of Mob tags. Especially the way AI will line up in a row like duckies for you. Open LB 5 → LB 3 → LB2 when the get close LB4 and knock all their kitten back since the pierce applies the knock back to all in the row. Swap to SB and clean up.

I make 4-6G an hour with no magic find rotating Jofast/Penitents/Shelters, also the range allows for plenty of survival

I rolled a ranger because i like archers. I play archers in every rpg that I can. Personally im saddened by all the builds for melee being so strong, it feels like bows are just not as effective.

This is actually one huge thing that i have a problem with a lot of games. If your going to build the game as having many possibilities for play styles, make sure all of them are viable. If the class is not designed to be able to run around with a bow and short bow, then why can you even do that.

+1 I have a lot of badges and karma from playing WvW, but no laurels.

I don’t know how this is possible when you get some days where the dailies are:

Kill 10 enemy players
Kill 5 dolyaks
Kill 1 champion
Kill 5 vets
Remove 15 conditions

You should have SOME laurals.

Trying to find out who I just skirmished with, that was the best fight I have had with another Ranger. It was on the shoreline near Bay East. The Ranger in question was rocking GS/SB with Drakehound/Jaguar.

Anyways in the event you see this Kudos on a fun fight Sir!

Barrage on self. Pet swap to wolf for knock down when enemy is in range. Rapid fire. Thats a lot of damage. Alternatively you can use enrangle instead of a knock down.

Time LB 4 to interupt their heal.

Then you swap to GS to finish them with 3+5+2

Trick with LB. Dont rely on the 1 skill.

I do the barrage at my feet (pet swap Quickened) all the time. It’s a valid tactic, perhaps not intended use but effective none the less. Since it lasts a little bit once deployed you can dodge through it to snare enemy off you.

If LB1 is fixed I see no reason why a full Archer isn’t viable. I mean even with it’s deficiencies I don’t recall EVER losing to another Ranger in a straight 1v1 since I went heal bunker..

I run it despite its limitations and have a blast with it.

I play the “Laughing stock of WvW” with a LB/SB Ranger if you go by Forum’s feedback and I rarely have issues with thieves….

People running GC setups shouldn’t be the ones complaining about thieves as they are just begging to be slaughtered out there….balanced setup/Knowledge is your friend.

If your strategy vs thieves doesn’t work, time to find a new strategy. Or play one long enough to know what they have at their disposal so you can recognize/counter?

That being said with over 2500 Badges/1 million Karma the trap has its uses and I will likely have a few simply for the lolz/situational use.

I’m double bow spec and solo for the most part and though LB1 is lacking the other skills are quite useful and fill some interesting situation use.

With a bunker/regen oriented build you can do quite well 1vX,

A number of us have put 1vX videos out the majority of which tend to be bunker based though there are some exceptions.

All depends on the skill/play and classes. If you come across two skilled players on strong classes working together then you chances of victory diminish greatly.

I use Fraps to record at native rez, then I just use Windows Movie maker to Edit…you will likely need to make a preset for your renders. Too much for my lazy kitten to type but if you PM me I will give you my Ventrillo and point you toward some easy to use free stuff to compile/Edit/Render in HD

Looks like it was scaled up from original Res…what res are you recording at? If you are recording Sub HD and Render 720P it will not improve the quality. Never render higher resolution than you record.

I’m not sure if it’s a bug or not, so thought I’d ask here.

How is it possible for a ranger pet to bypass all the NPCs in a supply camp in WvW and not get agro? Had this happen a couple times, so thought I’d ask .. do the NPCs automatically ignore any ranger pet?

Last patch they made it so npcs dont aggro pets if their master doesnt have aggro. So since the Guards dont have aggro on the ranger they will ignore the pet. I do it all the time when people run into the supply camps thinking they are safe lol. Half the time they die to my pet.
