You’re right, tenklo and AP. These outfits were extremely popular in Guild Wars, and they were much requested as additions for Guild Wars 2. I understand what you’ve said, Lady Grimm, but I think as a matter of fulfilling the request — and for a sort of “cultural integrity” — it’s good that it was recreated as it was.
(And yes, I happen to be amongst those who love this set.
)
Gaile, is there any chance that Anet will see how much concern there is about missing charr tails and add them to the lich outfit? It just seems like an odd design choice, and charr just look… awkward without their tails (plus, I feel their tails add a lot to charr animations).
I really like the outfit, but my minocharr needs his tail to complete the look. Any kind of insight would be greatly appreciated.
Even on an outfit like this, the clipping wouldn’t be all that bad, really. There’s even a gap in the middle of the skirt where the tail should go, so it looks like the model was built with the intention of having a charr tail. That’s why it’s so odd that it’s just up and gone like this.
Anet needs to see how awkward charr look without their tails and fix this soon. Please!
Yeah, I agree. And especially by adding the tail removal on top of this this new Raiment turns female charr into males (genderless at best). -_-
I’m still trying to figure out why this is the only thing in the entire game that removes the tail. It’s like an oversight—a mistake that needs to be corrected.
It may sound like a small issue, but I consider a charr’s tail very important to their look. To so nonchalantly remove it seems really odd to me, and I hope Anet becomes aware of this, if they aren’t already, and fixes this by giving them their tails back.
I’m not asking for a special lich-tail at all, just their regular tails would be perfect. Please, Anet, this outfit is so cool otherwise.
Looks like I’ll have to wait and preview it when I’m on later. I’m never going to buy an outfit but this one is causing a bit of conversation.
It is, and that’s why I hope Anet takes note and does something, because a charr’s tail is like an asura’s ears I guess (nevermind the helmets and stuff that gets rid of their ears). Not to mention it’s one of the main gender identifiers for charr (i.e. females have bushier tails).
It’s just something that shouldn’t be up-and-removed like that. I mean, no other outfit/armor set in the game does that to the charr. Heck, a couple of the outfit even changes the tail, but honestly, I just want their good ol’ regular charr tails sticking out of their backsides.
The outfit looks so cool otherwise, it just looks like it’s blatantly missing something on charr.
Charr just look awkward without their tail. There’s no other way around it.
If you’re going to look like a lich do you really need to show a tail?
Just asking.
If you’re a charr, then yes. If you’re going to hide the hood so you can see your charr’s head, then double yes.
Is the Raiment of the Lich supposed to remove Charr tails?
I’m going to guess that has to be a graphical oversight or bug because it makes no sense at all and kind of shoots charr in the gut. =/
I was excited about it at first but naked cat butt is terrible to look at running around.
Agreed. It does seem like an oversight, especially because there’s a space in the skirt where their tail should be poking out.
Tail-less charr look absurd. I sincerely hope Anet notices all the concern about this and will simply add the tail in as a bug-fix patch.
(edited by Seabreeze.8437)
Why is this even an issue? There’s a handful of torso armor that shows bare asura/charr chests too and no one’s made a stink about it until this outfit.
My question is: why are you concerned about open chests on charr when the real issue here is their completely missing tails. That’s just absurd.
Before Tengu?
Hells no.
Agreed. Tengu before all.
Personally, I’d love to play a centaur, but that’s probably not gonna happen. Tengu are the best and most likely candidate.
This is not the only outfit/armor that screws up charr anatomy so it probably won’t be fixed. The tail isn’t even the worst part either, the head looks incredibly deformed.
No outfit completely removes the tail though. And I’m going to hide the hood. Hoods don’t really work on charr anyways, what with their horns and all, so that’s not a big issue. The issue here is the missing tail.
Im hoping since its not out officially yet, that is just an incomplete version, and the rest is being added
^This is exactly my hopes on the matter.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Dear-Anet-Armor-Costume-Team/first#post4464660
We talk a bit about this issue here as well, so there’s a collective concern for the missing charr tail. It really needs to be added in before it gets released, especially since, as I mentioned in my original post, it actually looks like they left a space for their tails anyways.
Now, I don’t rightly expect Anet to comment on something that hasn’t even been released yet, but I’m going to put it out there anyways, because I feel it’s important to me.
Okay, let me start by saying that the lich costume looks really cool. I love the hooved legs on the males, especially the charr. There’s just one very large problem: the charr version seems to be lacking a tail.
There isn’t a single outfit in this game that does something that silly. Heck, a couple of the costumes even changes the tail, but never eliminates it entirely. When I get it, I’m going to hide the hood and—if possible—the feathered shoulders to complete my minocharr’s look… well, almost, if he had his bushy-tipped charr tail.
I’m reeeeally hoping that this is merely because this is a datamined costume, and that the complete version that gets released will include their tails. If you look at the screenshot, it really does look like there’s a space for their tails much like some charr armor sets (where a bit of cloth drapes over the base of their tails).
I can only imagine how awkward charr will look without their tails. Running on all fours, jumping, whatever, would just look silly, especially when you hide the hood to show your charr’s head.
As I said, I don’t expect Anet to chime in here (though it would be greatly appreciated), but I really do like this costume, and hope that charr tails are included with it when it comes to the gem store. To charr tails! Here’s hoping!
So You guys think this is normal? You know how much time it takes to get this achievs? Even if there is grind but why you have to spend on it hundreds/thousands hours to get it…?
No I don’t think it’s normal. I think it sucks.
But you’re complaining about grind. The real complaint is the achievements are badly balanced. They’ll be a grind though.
^This. It’s been two years, and I’ve never seen a soul with the “Yakslapper” title. One million. Really?
http://cogsandink.blogspot.com/2012/12/yakslapper-are-wvw-titles-unreasonable.html
Take a look at this article where this guy estimates how long it would take to get this achievement. Now I know achievements are for dedicated players and all, but this is absurd. And that goes for all the “do one million of this” achievements.
I’m not much of a competitive player, but I can see why players get frustrated with insane goals like this.
Here are a few more screens of the Lich costume: http://imgur.com/a/FrbR8
BY THE FLAMES, WHY DO THE CHARR HAVE NO TAILS!!?
Please tell me that’ll change when it gets uploaded for real!
We got matched against THE SAME rofl-stomping server us twice in a row (week 2 and week 3). How in the hell did that happen?
You can say anything lore breaking but it doesn’t make true.
I wasn’t stating it as if it were a fact. That was my opinion, treat it as such.
what does? if its the vampire stuff then i would point out vampires arent real in our world either but kids still dress up as them for halloween.
Not the lich outfit. I’m referring to that military-looking outfit that was datamined (I can’t find it at the moment). It reminds me of Fio’s outfit from Metal Slug, if anyone knows that game. I’m not saying it’s bad, mind you. It just seems too… modern, I guess. But maybe it’ll look better when it’s actually in the game.
(edited by Seabreeze.8437)
The tribal armor would work perfectly. Can we have it back, please?
What I don’t get is why there’s no official word on whether or not this is going to change. If this is how PS is going to be from now on, say so. That way, there’s no more confusion among us thinking if it’s a legitimate mistake or an intentional change.
I use my laptop, my bro uses the pc, and both our girlfriends bring their own laptops. We all sit in the same room and play together. Better than split screen, personally.
I think regional battle music would be amazing!
Let’s hear it!
Without a tail to act as counterweight, a Charr would fall straight forward onto his face. If the tail is NOT to be included in the Outfit, then the only remedy for gravitational mishaps would be to make him headless. This would also engender a greater feeling of Halloween spookiness.
(Headless is cool, but please, ANet… opt for tail inclusion! Perhaps even a “devilish” tail with the little pointy arrowhead-tip.)
I’d rather just have a regular charr tail. Pointed devil tail is just… nah.
Meh, looks a little lore-breaking, honestly.
We’ll see what happens, I guess. I’m still hoping their tails will be included, because NO other charr outfit does that. Why would they do that for this? It looks so strange!
Please fix, Anet! Charr need tails badly!
Is it true that it completely removes Charr tails?
:(
But if you look at their butt, it totally looks like a space for their tails, so that’s why I’m reeeeeeally hoping that their tails will still be there, ‘cause my minocharr’s not supposed to be without a tail!
Yeah, I support this. I played a bit of the dungeon last time and got a couple of achievements, but I’d really like to take another crack at it now that I have dungeon-ready lvl 80 geared characters.
I mentioned this on another thread, but I really hope the charr will still have their tails when the outfit gets released, ’cause tail-less charr look really dumb. Also, I hope that the hood and shoulders can be hidden like with other outfits.
On most outfits, you can’t hide the shoulders.
Well, the feathery shoulders are no big deal, though it’d be nice if I could hide them along with the hood and brambles. The biggest issue I have is that the tail on charr don’t show up when I preview it, and I hope that’ll change when they actually upload the set for acquisition. No other outfit gets rid of charr tails, this one shouldn’t either.
I also don’t like that the shoulder feathers look so stiff. I liked it better when they draped down like in GW1.
(edited by Seabreeze.8437)
Sure, I’ll post here just so everyone knows I haven’t forgotten about this set. Where is it, Anet? Please, let us have it again.
I mentioned this on another thread, but I really hope the charr will still have their tails when the outfit gets released, ’cause tail-less charr look really dumb. Also, I hope that the hood and shoulders can be hidden like with other outfits.
My biggest wants for the Raiment outfit, specifically for charr:
1) being able to hide the hood and shoulders
2) PLEASE don’t leave their tails completely gone. I’m hoping this is only because it’s not quite finished yet, seeing as how you can only view it with the code. It looks like their tail should fit quite nicely with that outfit.
3) a nice selection of dye-able parts
Here’s hoping!
I’d really like to hear an official word about whether or not this is going to be fixed. if this is how PS is going to be from now on, I might as well play it with my main, but I’ll continue to wait if it’s going to go back to the way it was.
This is a really nice idea.
Come to think of it, I believe there’s a finisher called “sanctified finisher” or something where you simply give the fallen a nice sendoff as a winged spirit hovers gracefully overhead.
But I agree that while there are some awesome finishers, it’d be cool to have some honorable ones as well.
Good idea, friend.
I’ve actually been finding a lot of success with my p/p build in WvW, and I’m not even fully geared in exotic stuff yet. Then again, my build relies on critical hits and damage, so my unload skill wrecks the less armored classes. It’s heavily armored guardians and people with retaliation that can be problematic, but in WvW, I’ve usually got allies to lend me a hand.
As long as pvp/pve skills and traits are not seperated, there will never truly be balance. Many skills/traits/builds that work great in PvP suck in PvE and vice versa.
^This. Windu pretty much summed it up right there.
Hyrule Warriors will suit my Wii U needs just fine.
Yeah, I never got around to playing through the entirety of Personal Story, but now I wish I had. Did Anet even give us a heads up that PS would be butchered, or was that not exciting enough to announce on their hype-blog?
I’ve always tried to defend Anet on everything, but I really can’t get behind what they did to our PS. It was the only story-related thing that made you feel important, ‘cause let’s face it, in Living Story, you’re simply an afterthought, like a lame sidekick to Destiny’s Edge 2.0.
I’m still patiently waiting for the tribal armor to come back.
…okay, I’m actually IMpatiently waiting, but what does it matter, really? Why this hasn’t come back yet is beyond me. Even a gem store purchase would suffice, I just really need it.
Come on, Anet! You bring back stuff all the time! Why is this so exclusive?
Of course, the same should be said for all the PvP armor sets, but I want tribal armor the most, obviously.
I sincerely hope that Anet watches this video.
I just can’t fathom how an entire development team put this idea down and not one of them said, “Hey guys? Does anybody think we might be gating the game just a little too much here?”
I meant it as more of a joke, honestly, but I get what you’re saying.
Cantha reveal trailer.
As well as playable Tengu race!
I’m thinking this would be the perfect opportunity to bring back the Tribal Armor set. After all, Anet did say this sale would be bringing back a lot of popular items.
So how ’bout it?
Still waiting…
There’s no reason why this (and all the other PvP armor sets) should still be unavailable.
If Anet wants to give players an incentive to try out PvP, the glorious armor is not the way to do it. Bring back all the lost armor sets as reward tracks and you’ll see a big jump in PvP participants, although there’ll probably also be a big jump in hardcore PvP’ers complaining about “too many PvE noobs in my game” threads as well, but whatever. I’m more than willing to dive into PvP, but ONLY when they bring these sets back.
Otherwise, karma vendor. Boom. Done. Everyone’s happy and the “where’s PvP armor?” threads will cease.
Okay, but what about the Tribal Armor set? Stalwart? Commando?
This is nothing like a “mounts” thread. We’re not asking to implement an entirely new feature into the game. We’re asking for Anet to bring back armor sets that shouldn’t have been removed in the first place. Stuff like Grenth’s hood, Mad King outfit, etc. are the types of armor that should have some timed exclusivity (i.e. holiday events), but not the old PvP armor sets. I’ve said it before, these armor sets were just like any other armor set in the game, with the only difference being its method of acquisition.
So I really hope this patch brings more than one “glorious” armor set.
I made a post just like this, but I’ll say my piece here too. I feel exactly the same way as you, buddy. I’ve been waiting for the tribal armor set for too long now, and it needs to come back in some way, PvP, karma, gem store, whatever. Heck, it shouldn’t have even been gone for this long, but here we are, still waiting.
And yes, the glorious armor looks ugly (if that pic was the glorious armor… it looked just like zenith armor).
(I’m not sure whether this should be in the PvP thread or general discussion…)
So anyways, I got off-the-wall excited when I read that PvP armors were coming back finally. Then I found out that the topic had absolutely nothing to do with the armor I thought, but rather they’re making a new armor set for PvP. Talk about misinterpretation on my part…
Now, I’d like to think I’ve been patient, but this is getting pretty ridiculous. Seriously, when are the old PvP armor sets going to come back? If Anet is going to be making NEW armor sets for PvP, then why not bring the old stuff back as karma gear or something? It’s incredibly unfair that these sets were treated like timed-exclusives as if they were holiday or living story armor sets. I want to say that this would be like removing dungeon armor, but I’m sure someone would tell me I’m comparing apples to oranges. Regardless, I see absolutely no reason why the old PvP armor sets should still be missing from the game. If not PvP, then make them karma gear… or heck, even gem store for crying out loud.
Please, Anet, can you give us access to the old PvP armor sets again? Especially since the focus of season 2 is “permanent content.”
<_<
>_>
Soooo…. any news on that Tribal Armor set?
For me, doing dungeons with friends is the best way to adventure together all at once, especially since we’re not the type of player that kicks someone for not being the exact build we want them to be. In PvE, I almost always adventure with at least one other person. Being a roleplayer helps too.
You should join a friendly guild. One of the great things about GW2 is that there are so many nice people as opposed to games like WoW (I’d like to play that, but I’d get eaten alive, and I’m one of those “in between casual and hardcore” players).
Anything that helps the RP community has my support. One of the best things about this game is getting immersed in the world, and simple things like campfires, sitting in chairs, eating, etc. really help provide that immersion and make the world feel more alive.
Example: if you go to an inn, pub, tavern or whatever, there should be eating, drinking, dancing, barmaids serving patrons, guests sleeping on the beds. You know, stuff you’d expect to see in a place like that. The lodges in Hoelbrak should be a lot more rowdy and lively, but instead everyone’s just kind of standing around like statues.
Obviously, the focus should still be on balancing, battle mechanics, etc., but fun little side features would really add to the game. A good place to start would be to add a ton more emotes. I miss the ones you could do in GW1.
Did you do a Personal Story instance with another player who started the instance? Did you accept the progress while in that instance with the other player? If so, the Personal Story will change your Story track so that you can continue to play with the other player and follow his/her storyline. At the next branch, if you do not accept another person’s storyline, you will be placed back onto your original storyline.
There is nothing that can be done to get you back on track until that next branch comes up.
Good luck.
You know, I did, actually. Truth be told, I suspected as much, but it still just seems so odd that the game would do that and totally flub part of your story.
Okay, so I just went to the Vigil Headquarters and spoke with the armorsmith. Oddly enough, I’m still considered Vigil because I can buy all the Vigil equipment.
Hrmm, this is getting stranger by the minute…
I get what you’re saying, bluestocking, but no, this isn’t just me meeting up with another order. It’s treating me like a Whispers initiate entirely, as if I actually chose to be a permanent member of the Order of Whispers.
Here, check out these screen caps. They show how I clearly joined the Vigil, and that there would be a contact waiting in Lion’s Arch, only now I’ve got a Whispers agent contacting me. What gives? And can Anet do anything to correct the issue? Like I said, I haven’t progressed any further in case they can do something about this.
It wouldn’t be the end of the world if nothing can be done, but any help would be greatly appreciated!
