I waited so long for this to go on sale. I finally gave it and purchased one. Literally THE NEXT day it went on sale. I never wanted to kill Gnashblade more than on that day. Looking back though, all I can do now is laugh at the absurdity of it all.
The Eternal Alchemy is quite the strange phenomenon.
To be accurate, it’s an odachi, but yes, I want this… and Tengu.
I agree, but they’d be so expensive I wouldn’t be able to afford it.
The comedy feels REALLY cheesy. Then again, Destiny’s Edge 2.0 is really cheesy. So while Destiny’s Edge 1.0 are acting like a bunch of high school drama queens, version 2.0’s dialogue sounds like a bad fanfic. I don’t like either groups.
Good thing I most everything else about the game, because I couldn’t be less interested in Living Story because of that group. I’ll still play it though, just so I can be informed.
Can I haz katana naow?
Me sarcastically: “Oh no, Belinda. What will you do Majory? That’s tragic, truly.”
Me: “Hey! I know… gimmy dat sword!”/e grabby hands
No, its…
“I guess someone has to take her sword to keep her memory alive! It would be a terrible burden but I will volunteer!”
Tsk, no… The correct answer is, “Let me bear Belinda’s sword, Marjory. I shall use it to strike down Mordremoth and thus avenge her death.”
Sorry guys… The real correct answer is, “Want to cut through Mordremoth’s vines in style with Belinda’s Greatsword? Now you can, for the low price of 800 gems! Hurry in to Black Lion Trading Co. and get it while you can! -Evon Gnashblade.”
Honestly though, I don’t care. Just gimmie that sword! And the Tengu while we’re at it. :P
I feel the same way. I don’t like this new method of acquiring traits, but it doesn’t ruin the game for me. The only thing it really does is make any new characters I roll a bit more tedious when it comes to traiting them.
All waypoint-related glitches will probably use Mordremoth as the scapegoat. :P
So no, don’t bring the armor back because others were too lazy or just didn’t make it to PvP in time.
Also pay no attention to selfish “I’ve got it so don’t let others have it too” posts like this.
Much like the Black Lion weapons, there’s nothing wrong with a degree of exclusivity but it makes no sense to bar access to digital assets with no ongoing production cost.
^This.
Look, why can’t they just bring this armor set back as a reward track? That way, those that want it will still have to play PvP to get it. Would that make you nay-sayers happy? Geez, remember the first couple months after the update when there were half a million threads about “OMG THESE PVE NOOBS ARE RUINING PVP, GET THEM OUT SO I CAN PROPERLY ASSERT MYSELF AS AN ELITE PVP TOURNEY MACHINE!” And yet you still want that exclusivity? Okay, sure, I’ll see you in PvP when it comes back as a reward track. I’ll grind as much as I need to to get that armor set. That way, you won’t have your feelings hurt because players will have to go to PvP to earn it.
And another thing. What about the PvE players that ran dungeons so they could get that super cool dungeon armor set? Why didn’t Anet take those down as well? Sure, I’m probably comparing apples to oranges, but the simple fact is that the Tribal Armor (and all the PvP armor) shouldn’t be treated as limited-time sets. That’s what Living Story (although now it’s permanent content) and holiday stuff is for.
The Tribal Armor was just like any other armor set, only there was a different requirement to obtain it. — Just. Like. Dungeon. Armor. — A reward track would fulfill this purpose. Why is it still unobtainable? You can earn armor through PvE and carry it over to PvP, why not vice versa? Tribal, Stalwart, Marauder, all those sets should be brought back already (I know you can earn some pieces of Stalwart and Marauder from Personal Story, but not all of them).
The Tribal Armor is just too cool of a set for me to let go, so I’ll keep coming back to remind everyone how badly Anet needs to bring it back already!
Thank you for your time.
Being a huge Sims 1 fan that still plays even today (though Sims 4 is looking pretty sweet), I could really get into housing system. It would definitely have a positive effect on the RP community as well, myself included.
I’m not in a huge rush to see this implemented, but I’ll be happy to see it if/when it does make its way to the game.
I never tire of these threads. Seriously, how long do we have to wait for the Tribal armor set to come back?
I’d sure be nice if its return coincided with the launch of season 2, like, “Hey, season 2 is here, and we’re bringing back all the PvP gear previously unobtainable for all to enjoy! Thanks for waiting!”
Dude, just play around with all the classes and see which you like best.
Not meant as trolling, but Largos will never be playable. They’re an elusive race who shie away from too much contact with other people and operate mostly on their own as hunters of some sort of prey. Anet cannot suddenly retcon their whole background and have hundreds of thousands Largos out and about in the open world…
Tengu are the obvious candidate of next playable race. Nowhere found as mobs, we know they have a starter area/hub in Dominion of Winds and it just makes sense.
Interesting note. Tengu don’t even show up as risen. I don’t think they have been corrupted anywhere. The only major race with a major city that hasn’t been corrupted. Largos on the other hand always seem to pop up as risen priestesses of Dwayna. Just thought I’d point that out.
Really makes you wonder….do they cremate their dead?
I don’t even think I’ve seen risen centaur, for that matter.
I agree that Tengu at this point is the most likely candidate for the next playable race, but I’m still hoping (even if it’s not very likely) that centaurs will eventually make their way into the playable category. Ulgoth is dead, and heck, if charr could ally with humans…
I would really like to get some official GW2 t-shirts, jackets, and the like. I hope they bring them to their online store sometime during season 2.
^ That’s why I think Sea of Sorrows is sooooo much better, both in terms of writing style and storytelling. Haven’t read Ghosts of Ascalon yet, but I heard that was really good too. Basically, Edge of Destiny is the least impressive of the three books, and I put most of the blame on that tool, Logan.
Seriously, every time I see him in the game, I have to shout out, “You’re such a tool, Logan! I hate you, Logan!” I wish there were dialogue options where you could point out how whipped he is, and then show him how a real adventurer fights.
Logan Thackeray is the biggest tool on the planet. I hate him so kitten much. He’s “pro” ’cause that manipulative queen has him wrapped around her little finger and she knows it.
(If you’ve read the novels, specifically Edge of Destiny, you’d understand this better, I think)
Gods, Logan is so annoying…
I want him to be replaced by somebody else so he can go back to being the kitten leather wearing warhammer wielding trapper he was in the beginning of Destiny’s Edge. I loved him so much until the Queen came into the picture.
THANK YOU! That’s exactly how I feel! He was actually pretty cool, until… that happened. Seriously, the first words he muttered when she appeared was, “she’s… beautiful,” then started acting like a love-sick moron all the time. After that, it was “my queen” this and “I’m yours forever” that. It didn’t help that Jennah basically paraded him around saying, “check it fools, this guys my b****, come at me!” I basically lost all respect for him the minute he when full tool like that. I don’t blame Rytlock for wanting to gut him where he stands.

Does anyone else wish there was more you could do with the voice of your character? I know it’d be too much work to offer different voices entirely, as the amount of lines Anet would need to re-record would be a nightmare, but how about letting us play with the pitch and tone, like Soul Calibur IV and V? An example would be if you didn’t want your male charr to have such a deep hulk voice.
I mean, I’m actually pretty happy with all of the voice actor choices except for Nolan North as the human male. He’s a fantastic VA and all, but he just sounds too…….. Nathan Drake, I guess. I know that pitch/tone sliders wouldn’t change that, but when you have a lot of characters, it’d be nice to be able to give their voice a somewhat unique sound to it.
I definitely would like to see what kind of engineer-ish skills Anet could come up with for weapons like a greatsword, hammer, etc.
An example, maybe, could be like a rocket-propelled hammer swing skill where flames burst out of one end of the hammer giving it powerful momentum. Perhaps even setting the opponent on fire while knocking them back. Another could be like an explosive ground-pound move or something, similar to the engi’s shotgun jump with the rifle.
That’s just a thought, though. I’d like to hear from you guys on weapon skills you might’ve come up with.

Centaur……has that ever been possible in an MMO?
Aesthetically great -looking…….designing them during character creation would be a blast.….and for those clamoring for mounts, you could pretend.
I completely support this, as I’ve wanted playable centaurs since GW1.
Like with the charr, I could see an eventual truce between the two races. I mean, part of the reason the Harathi and Tamini war with the humans is out of fear of the Modniir. Being the largest and strongest tribe, the Modniir essentially intimidate the lower tribes to go to the front lines against the humans (even the other races at this point). Some of the centaurs have even admitted that with humans and charr now allies, they stand absolutely no chance against the combined forces (charr firepower especially). They need a truce if they’re to survive at all. With Ulgoth the Mighty now dead, the other tribes may not feel as… motivated to continue fighting against the humans (and charr, as well). Centaurs need to play it smart at this point.
And for all the neigh-sayers (yes, I did that), I think they’d look about as normal underwater as a ranger’s pet bear, panther, or other quadruped. Jumping puzzles admittedly would be a problem, though they could just make their front legs act as the landing point.
I just like how centaurs are portrayed in the GW lore. Everything from their appearance to their culture is really interesting. They’re also quite intelligent, and are as capable of being warriors and rangers as they are of being engineers and mages. I’d totally roll a centaur or two or three if they were brought in as playable. Not to mention that there’s little — if any — MMO’s that have create-able centaurs.
Now I’m well aware that it’s highly unlikely that they’ll be introduced, but the OP simply asked what we’d like to see as a playable race. I’d like to see centaurs.
How about just play for the sake of playing instead of farming gold? I’ve made about 80 gold in about a month or so without paying too much attention. I just find the game a lot of fun. Maybe it depends on those you play with, cause I RP as well and get sucked into the game’s world.
In short, I don’t worry about the coin. It comes naturally just by having fun. :P
Ever the helpful, friendly neighborhood Cedo-man!
But yeah, I definitely don’t want to run the risk of getting banned. I certainly didn’t steal the account or anything. He legitimately gave me his e-mail and password and said “try it out, have fun!” I did just that, and ended up playing a LOT with the paragon I made. So when GW2 was announced, I was MORE than convinced that I needed an account for my own.
That said, would it simply be better to just get GW1 (all expansions included) for myself and register it under my GW2 account info?
I think the megaserver system is great. It’s not perfect, but it’s nice to see maps populated again. I hated running around places like Wayfarer Foothills all by my lonesome. Now this game feels like an MMO. Of course it needs tweaking, but I definitely don’t want to eliminate megaservers entirely.
Okay, so I’ve been playing since GW1, though I never got EotN. I never finished the campaigns either. Recently, I’ve been thinking I should go back and finish those campaigns, and while I’m at it, get EotN so I can grab some Hall of Monuments goodies.
I also just realized that I played GW1 using my friend’s account (since it was mostly to try the game, but I liked it and kept using it).
So here’s my question: if I get EotN, can I still link the two accounts even though it’s a different e-mail and password? Or do I have to get GW1 and all the expansion packs and start over using the same e-mail and password that I have for GW2?
I mean, I wouldn’t really mind if I had to start fresh in GW1, since my girlfriend is obsessed with GW2 and never got a chance to play the first one. I’d at least have someone to campaign with. I’m just wondering if it’s possible to link GW1 and GW2 even though they use a different e-mail and password.
Any help and/or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks guys!
I buy gems occasionally, but I only typically make purchases on the gem store when what I need is on sale. Right now, I’m waiting for character slot expansion, bank tab expansion, or collection expansion to go on sale. I don’t wanna pay full price for those.
Hopefully there’ll be some good summer sales soon.
For about 4 gold, you can get the Endless Leather Hoodie Clothes Tonic from the TP, and it looks a lot like that. But of course, Tonics are stupid. All of the old Town Clothing items that were turned into Tonics NEED to be Outfits instead.
I’m still sitting on a pile of them, stubbornly waiting for ANet to announce they will do just that.
I almost just bought that outfit until I realized that it worked as a 15-min, non-combat TONIC. groan Why don’t they just convert them all to outfits already so we can use them in indefinitely and in combat as well?! I’d at least buy the set then.
I wouldn’t say there’s no need to put them in the festival. I mean, the festival is supposed to be about bringing back a lot of these items, isn’t it (in addition to supporting the reconstruction of Lion’s Arch)? The zephyr helms are cool and all, but I really want those back items. I’m sitting on roughly 2000 festival tokens—hesitant to spend them—and waiting to see if maybe they’ll be added sometime before the festivities are over.
Weren’t the dream catcher back items rewards from last year’s festival? I really want the Lightning Catcher for my norn shaman, but it’s not available from any of the festival merchants in Labyrinthine Cliffs.
Is it possible they’ll be added later, maybe towards the end of the festival? I just don’t understand why they would bring back all these other past items and leave these ones out.
This is actually a good suggestion. I’ll support this.
Example: Not every wizard is a ripped body-builder. Though after covering up with robes, who’d know the difference?
Anyways, I think there should be more varieties in weight. I know the norn have a fat body type (at least the males do).
I can’t count the number of times I’ve been PMed by gold sellers.
Because I don’t pay attention to them.
Because they have no impact on my gameplay.
It’s pretty decent.
Not a bad mindset. Though I still report and block.
As long as there’s more permanent content, I’ll be happy.
… Still waiting on that Tribal armor, by the way. :S
I was in Labyrinthine Cliffs today, and literally got around 6 or 7 in about 2 minutes. That’s the worst spam binge I’ve ever gotten.
It’s bad, but I do the same thing I always do. Report and Block. It’s sad, really, seeing all those hacked accounts.
Any word in regards to the return of the Tribal light armor set in PvE? Or even all the other PvP-only armor sets?
There’s still lots of concern about this, but I’ll continue to eagerly wait for it. I just hope it’ll be brought back soon. Thanks.
I know how you feel, man. I’ve never been so immersed in a game’s lore than Guild Wars, nor have I ever had so much fun with a game than this one.
My girlfriend bought all three books in the series. She finished Sea of Sorrows and Edge of Destiny and is working on Ghosts of Ascalon.
Me, I just finished SoS and am halfway through EoD.
You should seriously read SoS (awesome read), though be warned, you may cry a few times. No book has ever hit me that hard in the feels… ever. EoD so far is meh…. but you should still read it.
Anyways, it’s always cool to find someone as intensively engaged in Guild Wars as my gf and I are. Have a blast, mrauls, maybe I’ll run into you sometime!
Back to Tyria!
Why the hell do they have access to all the new hairstyles by default!?
Yeah, I was furious at first, but check out the video again. I think they only have like… 7 or 8 total to choose from. We get maybe twice that amount by default. So maybe the one’s they are missing that we have from the start will be hairstyle kit hairstyles for them. That’d be fair, at least, ’cause man, I was steamed when I first saw that. This would at least make it understandable, I guess.
Cool! Now where are those elusive Tengu???
>.>
<.<
I like the open-worldness. I mean, I kinda see your point, but having everything instanced in GW1 made it boring after a while. Felt like a single player most of the time (though some would argue that’s how it was supposed to feel). Not to mention the explorable zones were EMPTY as heck. I like seeing life in the world, with all kinds of people running around adventuring and stuff. I guess what I’m getting at is… I like the way GW2 plays, and wouldn’t want to go back to instanced stuff, save for personal stories and such.
It is a pretty outrageous cost, if you ask me. If they really want it to cost coins, then geez, at least make it more reasonable.
I mean, I guess many players aren’t going to buy every single trait, but for those that do… man, that’s expensive.
Edit: I know you can unlock them as an alternative too, so there’s that.
I hope they wont bring it back. So people who played spvp when rewards were back got something unique.
Man, I hate these posts. Look, it’ll probably still be a PvP reward when it comes back, so that way players would still have to earn it through PvP. Would that make you happy?
I’ve said it a million times, these armor sets shouldn’t be treated like they were temporary sets like Living Story or Holiday items. You want them to stay exclusive to PvP? Then it should be on a reward track. I personally feel it should be a karma set, as it was in beta.
Bottom line: It’s time for the Tribal Armor set to make its return. I don’t care how I’d have to obtain it, as long as it’s reasonable enough to work for. No matter what, though, I’ll do whatever it takes, so let’s just get it back already!
Just putting this out to you all, but China’s release has a couple hairstyles we do not have. One includes a ponytail and I mean a regular one down the back, so possibly that style and the others may come here.
Do you have a link or an image to attach?
So many have posted about this and still nothing from Anet, keep posting till they speak.
Way ahead of you, friend.
How long do we have to wait for this? Seriously. Put it in as a karma set or whatever already!
So how long is the Festival of the Four Winds, anyways? It’d be really great if one of the weekly updates included the revival of the Tribal Armor set. especially if one of the NPC’s on Labyrinthine Cliffs was selling it or something.
There’s a small island on Labyrinthine cliffs with some NPC’s who I think were wearing it. So maybe it is coming very very soon?
Are you serious?! By the six, I’ll have to investigate!
You guys don’t already have it?
I will resist the powerful urge to type an incredibly sarcastic answer and simply say, “no, we don’t.”
If playing how you want infringes on someone else playing how they want, nothing will ever be solved. Inspect someone and see they have their own build and aren’t zerker, kick right away without even saying anything. Am I doing it right?
Also DPS meters? Really? In a game that basically just consists of 5 man groups of all DPS, I don’t think DPS meters are needed in the least other than to stroke Berserker’s kitten and the need to see the big numbers. And yes, I understand you said nothing about Berserker, but that is honestly how your post comes off.
^This. This basically sums it all up. Thank you, Woljnir.
I took a few months off a while back, but as it stands now, I’m not even close to being bored with this game!
I don’t really see that happening, though I would like to see you able to reset your personal story. I have an asura of the College of Dynamics, but now I’d rather her be of the College of Synergetics. She’s using a hair-kit exclusive style, so I don’t wanna have to use another one, let alone level her up again.
I don’t see how a personal story reset can’t be implemented though. I mean, it’s all instanced, so it would have any impact on other players. Just like a name-change contract, I think there should be a personal story change option (though not gem store, preferably).
This is such an agonizing tease…
I KNOW, RIGHT?!?!?!!!!
More charr horns? Especially elk or deer inspired ones?
YES!
