Petition’s don’t work, and Anet doesn’t like them. I’d be satisfied with information regarding its acquisition and availability in PvE. That’s it. Really. Is that too much to ask? I guess it is, given their unrelenting silence on this matter.
Dervo, with the removal of PvP crafting, there IS no way to get the Tribal armor even in PvP. So it’s completely gone unless it shows up somewhere else.
And yes, despite their willingness to speak on many aspects of this patch, their silence on THIS particular matter does concern me greatly. There’s NO reason whatsoever to remove armor like this from the game. They’re not Living Story armor sets or holiday armor sets or anything like that, so they shouldn’t be wiped from the game like this.
I really don’t understand it at all. I just… want… that… Tribal set. Please. I think we’ve all waited long enough to be able to grab this for PvE use. I know I have.
Yeah, that and Commander’s gloves and boots. Also, the light Masquerade armor set.
This 100%
Oh yeah, this all the way. Now that PvP/PvP armor is unified, we need a way to acquire these armor sets, and I hope it’ll be reasonable. I’ve been pleading for the Tribal armor set everywhere I can, and still am. I really hope we see this soon. Like, real soon.
Hell I’d take a grind over having to go through Spvp hoping that the shoulders I need are in a box. If I can get through a match while getting splattered on it. At very least it would be nice to have /some/ other way of getting the set than the boxes now they’ve taken away the crafting…. :/
What I’m thinking is, why not just leave them craftable, but have them under their respective armor crafting professions (i.e. Tribal: Tailoring, Marauder: Leatherworking, etc)? That’d make them reasonably obtainable, and I’d be totally cool with that.
But how can we obtain it? That’s where my concern lies.
Please, I could really use some good news right about now, and this would really make my day. I’ve wanted this set for so long, and I don’t know how many of these threads I’ve posted in. I don’t know why we haven’t received any info about the state of this armor set yet and it honestly worries me.
And why is this subject being avoided so adamantly? Even on the Dolyak Express thread, they answered so many questions EXCEPT this one. It’s depressing me, as the character I REALLY want to create needs this armor to work. It may sound silly, but I need that armor set more than any other armor.
Just… please give me some good news about this.
They didn’t give us any info about it when we asked in beta and I don’t expect any now, though I’d love to be proven wrong in that regard. I dislike pvp and would like to get this set in pve.
I’m right there with ya, buddy. Here’s hoping.
Yeah, that and Commander’s gloves and boots. Also, the light Masquerade armor set.

I love to RP, but I never knew that there was an RP server on this until recently. I was really interested in joining that community, but now it seems I can’t join that crowd. Sucks.
We’ll, I guess I’ll just stick to RPing with my close friends in private whispers then. :\

I’m kicking myself so much for not grabbing this skin sooner. I’ll be so upset if they remove this skin completely. I honestly was just waiting for the reward track ‘cause I figured it would show up there. Then by the time I found out it wasn’t going to be anywhere on a reward track (at least at the start), it was too late to grind the old PvP.
I hope it shows up soon. Or at least I’d like to hear SOMETHING in regards to this soon. C’MON, I NEED THAT ARMOR SET!
…please?
They wouldn’t dare bring Scarlet back. I mean, that whole arc was okay and all, but enough is enough. She’s dead, let her stay that way, for Grenth’s sake.
Now what would be a stunning opener for season two? How about… PLAYABLE TENGU?! Seriously, these guys need to open their giant gates already. Pretty please?
I’d love to have…
- antler-like, deer-inspired horns…
- Ram inspired horns…
- Gazelle inspired horns… twisted style…
As for the other races…. Azuras have ears… could be earrings and other decoration ect.. Norn have their tattoos and males their beard
Sylvari their skin pattern and ears (they probably have the most customizable features)
Humans – males have beard…Charr cannot even choose color on their horns… (could be a few natural ones at least)
I totally support the antler-like, deer-inspired horns concept, Frostfang! I’ve had that idea in my head for ages, and would LOVE to see this implemented in a future update!
Can you please change the name of your topic title? It’s horribly misleading.
Whatever happens, Lion’s Arch should be rebuilt. The city itself is supposed to be a testament to the resiliency of the human spirit and the unity of the five main races of Tyria (hopefully six if/when the Tengu come into play). Plus, as the center of trade, both on land and sea, it’s practically the beating heart of all Tyria.
Scarlett may have brought Lion’s Arch down, but we should see that it rises again from the ashes, better than ever!
And what about PvP only skins like the masquerade armor?
(waits diligently for an answer)
Also waiting for an answer to this XD
Well hopefully when the devs review the inquiries in the Dolyak Express thread regarding the feature patch, they’ll answer the question I posted about this topic and we’ll finally have some clarification.
I just want playable Tengu so bad… they need to join the roster already.
A grand sale like this would be a nice way to kick off this update patch. I’m eager to see what actually happens.
Why not consume it? It’ll be account-bound after the update, and perhaps you’ll make a character that’ll look good with abyss dye? Can’t go wrong with abyss black, I say.
That’s what I’d do anyways. I have no idea what this update will do to dye prices. I mean, yeah, there’ll be no more drops, but it was such a low chance anyways, and the laurel merchants aren’t going anywhere either, so dye prices might not even be affected that much.
So yeah, I’d say use it. Sorry if that doesn’t help you in your decision-making.
Spears… Spears. Spears…! Spears! SPEARS! BWAHAHAHA! I allow you to prepare your throw – I’ll just take aim on you with Iron Legion’s gun.
Dude, how is that any different than preparing a bow? Heck, that actually takes longer!
1. Assume a shooting position
2. Nock an arrow
3. Draw and anchor the bow
4. Aim
5. Release the string
6. Follow through
And yet here it is, bow-users alongside gun-users, and in the context of Guild Wars, nothing seems out of place. Not to mention spears can already be used underwater. By your logic, why should anyone use swords, hammers, or any other melee weapon when everyone can just shoot them with “Iron Legion’s gun”?
Nice attempt at mockery, bookah, but you’re way off the mark here. Spears and javelins would be an awesome addition to this game!
Living Story elements I can understand, but… well, I just want that PvP Masquerade armor. I think it’d be silly to announce the unification of PvP/PvE armor and then take them away after the update. This is supposed to entice players to try out PvP, which will include me if I can obtain that armor set.
Floppy wizard hats, please.
Also, I think crossbow skins for the rifle would be pretty cool. Crossbows seem more suited for knight characters than rifles, in my opinion, and I would very much like to blast enemies with a mean crossbow!
(Just realized this is an armor skin thread. Do we have a thread for crossbow ideas?)
The only bad one is the ranger’s. Because it can’t be stopped. It should be stopped by killing or pushing the pet away, but that often won’t stop it. Most of the time, the pet just keeps reviving, and underwater, it always does.
Engineer 2 can be used to interrupt a finisher, and to pull an enemy close enough for the explosion to push them away. It’s not that bad.
All of them have their uses. But the ranger one works too well, despite what the enemy can do.
Agreed. I quite like the engineer’s downed skills. The challenge, though, is to stay alive until the explosion skill charges, since you can’t use it right away. That said, I think there are worse professions for being downed.
And what about PvP only skins like the masquerade armor?
(waits diligently for an answer)
As a charr conditionmancer, I whole-heartedly agree with this. I mean, I still play him regardless, ‘cause he’s fun, but I do hope they address PvE conditions sometime.
Thanks, guys!
Since the paragon class was part of the Nightfall expansion, I think it’d make sense to introduce spears/javelins if and when we get access to Elona (like what BigfootArisen suggested).
I’m not sure if all underwater weapons should be made available for use on land, like the harpoon gun and the trident, but I do think that spears should not be limited in this way. I still feel strongly about giving elementalists another physical-type weapon though, so here’s hoping we something regarding spears in the future.
Apologies for bumping, but I am curious to know if new weapon types like these are a possibility for future updates/expansions. The paragon was a fun profession in GW1, mostly for the javelin-throwing, in my opinion. I would hope that we might see its return someday (the spear, I mean).
Long term goals aren’t a bad thing. Even after the re-balance, it will take the average player a very long time to reach 80 and will still be the long term goal for most people.
It’s important to have goals for different time commitments. Short term goal could be reward tracks or some skins. Medium term goals could be season rewards and a ladder. Long terms goals could be a legendary, rank 80 (for most people) or possibly multi-season rewards and yearly tournaments.
What kind of long-term rewards would people like to see? Maybe a rank 80 ‘prestige’ system is something to explore.
I like the sound of skins being a short-term goal. Aw, yeah! PvP Masquerade armor, here I come!
I’ve been waiting for Tengu to join us for so long. Such an awesome race with loads of creative potential. I’d love to see all the different creation options we’d be able to do for them (beak/tusk style, feathering on head/body, etc.).
I’d also enjoy centaurs as well, as there are so few games that actually have them as playable races. Centaur character creation would be a lot of fun, I’d bet. Yeah, I know their chances are nil, but I can still dream.
Anyways, here’s hoping for Tengu!
I posted a question regarding this same topic on the Dolyak Express thread for the features patch. Hopefully they’ll look into my inquiry and provide clarity to the topic at hand. So many of us want to know what’ll become of these great armor sets. I’ve got my sights on a particular armor set to use in PvE, and am desperate for information on its acquisition.
Here’s hoping we get something really soon, guys!
Maybe you could ask in the Dolyak Express thread, as they are answering questions about the Feature Pack release.
As always, Inculpatus, you’re as helpful as ever!
In fact, you were the one who gave me the news to me that Anet planned on unifying PvP and PvE gear, if memory serves me.
Thanks again for the tip. I actually went ahead and posted a question about this on the Dolyak thread. I really hope they can provide clarification on this matter, as it’ll really affect how I feel about this update. I mean, I’ll like the update regardless, I’m sure, but… I just want that PvP Masquerade armor so baaaaad!
Anyways, you’re good people, Inculpatus!
This is something I’d like to know as well, since I’ve wanted that armor for a long time. It’s the entire reason I even made a necro x.x I’ve never been one to do sPvP because every time I’ve tried, I’ve ended up being surrounded by rude people. So I was finally hoping to be able to get it for PvE with the update on the 15th =/
My thoughts exactly.
Hey there, Anet folks!
As excited as I am for this feature patch, there is one thing on my mind that supersedes all my other thoughts. My question: how will the acquisition of PvP armor sets be affected post-patch? For example, since day one, I’ve absolutely adored the PvP Masquerade armor set, yet as an avid PvE player, I’ve never touched PvP, and seeing as how it was exclusive to that mode, I haven’t attempted to obtain it. However, after the gear unification announcement, my excitement went through the roof, only to find out that PvP crafting will be removed as well, eliminating the current method of acquiring these armor skins.
So will these armor skins (PvP Masquerade, hint hint) show up as a reward track after the update, or will there be other ways to earn them? And if so, will it be reasonable enough for a PvE player to obtain (I guess I’m in between casual and hardcore)?
Thank you so much for any clarification you can provide. I’ve been waiting to create my new character for so long, waiting for the day that I can use that PvP Masquerade armor for my PvE adventure!
P.S. Also, armor sets like these will have a new name, like Tribal or Voodoo armor, am I right to assume this?
In defense, it was 1.5 years of the knowledge that those skins were PvP exclusive. As an avid PvE player, I wasn’t going to grind PvP to get an armor skin that I would never be able to use in PvE. Now that they announced the gear unification, I was excited to find out that I could earn these armor sets in PvP and use them in PvE. I don’t think it’d be right to up and remove them entirely, especially since one of the focal points of this update is to bring more players to the PvP scene.
I just really want more information about the reward tracks and when we’ll see the PvP Masquerade set available so I can set a goal to work toward.
So assuming that the PvP version of dungeon armors are going to only be obtainable “PvE-Style” like you said, I wonder what that means for armor sets that aren’t dungeon armor, like the PvP Masquerade obviously. Perhaps gaining rank will unlock them? I’m dying to know!
By now, I’m sure everyone knows how badly I want that Voodoo armor set for PvE, so I’m eager for an answer too. It’ll probably go into a reward track, though my main concern is that I hope it’s fairly reasonable to obtain, as it’s not a high-level dungeon armor or anything like that.
Must… have… that… Voodoo! >:D
Because the Asura designed them. It’s their technology and there is a for use fee. And because you are a Bookah.
Lol, you totally beat me to it.
I have been wanting the PVP masquerade armor set skin in PVE since forever and now with the future patch coming i might be getting my wish. However, to craft it you need to be at least rank 30 in PVP currently and I’m nowhere near that. So my questions are: After the patch, will i still be required to be level 30 to acquire the armor? will there be a way to craft/acquire this skin in PVE?
i would like to know this too, awesome armor set
I’m curious about this as well, as I’ve been asking all over the place. I’m super excited about the fact that I’ll be able to get this armor set for PvE and am eager to find out more about its acquisition.
Well, I may do more sPVP for those reward tracks, but I’m hoping they make the PVP only armors available to PVE in a reasonable manner. “Unlockable with reasonable goalpoints” is better then impossible.
^This. I agree with you completely, Kalavier.
They also said in the future for the other unattainable skins right now would be implemented in a PvP track as well.
That’s exactly the information I was seeking. So just to clarify, the skins that are available only through PvP right now will be available in the future from the new rewards track, is that right? Could you be so kind as to reference me to the source of where you confirmed this information?
It was in the ready up video here:
Which means we can get the still get the PvP Masquerade armor even after the update, right? ‘Cause I don’t think there’s any way I’ll get it before then even if I start PvP right now. :\
[…] Nobody really cares if a skin earned from PvE can be used in PvP, or vice-versa. It’s a sign of showing off what we have accomplished.
Uh, I care. I think a lot of people care, actually.
Let titles be prestigious. Heck, there’s leaderboards and W/L records if you really want your ego stroked. I just want to use PvP Masquerade armor on my PvE character. That’s it. I’ll work for it if I have to, but I favor PvE, so that’s where I’m gonna use it, and it looks like this update will let me do just that, so I’m all for it.
(edited by Seabreeze.8437)
Yes, I agree! If the PvP people can get PvE only stuff by playing PvP, we should be able to get PvP only stuff by playing PvE (and don’t mention the achievement chests, because the PvP players get those too).
So, when are those PvP only armours going to be available in PvE (by actually playing PvE, and not by getting lucky in a lottery)?
This may have won the “stupidest comment in the thread” award. PvE only skins for PvP? do you even know what they are doing? After April 15th, there will be no PvP or PvE armors/skins, just GW2 armors/skins. Meaning, any armor you have in PvE can now be used in PvP, and vice versa.
With the new reward system being added to PvP, there are armors that you can get only from doing that content. You want skins that you can only get in PvE and no where else? Too late, it’s already happened. EVERY living story Meta Reward that gives a skin is an example of this. Remember that helmet for killing scarlet, all the numerous backpieces? Ascended armor, Windcatcher, molten jetpack, desert rose, etc etc. PvP gets 1 thing, just 1, and people start complaining that they might have to try other content to get all the skins in the game. Trust me, there will be a lot more “PvE” only armors to come, significantly more than any PvP only armors to be added.
My god people, think before you post.
Did you read what I posted? I never said anywhere that I want skins that are only available in PvE. I said I wanted the skins that are now only attainable in PvP also to be attainable in PvE.
I would like this, but chances are they’re still going to be PvP-only, as far as obtaining them goes.
Also, people should quit telling others to “think before they post.” I’ve been hearing that phrase directed at others a lot lately, and usually they’re the one’s who misread something, then post something dumb and look the fool themselves.
(edited by Seabreeze.8437)
I’ll be cool with it as long as I can eventually get that PvP Masquerade light armor. Rank 30 isn’t too terribly high, so if it’s still around there that I can get it, it’ll be fine, if I understand the reward track right.
I’m just wondering if I should jump right into PvP now or wait until I find out exactly how to obtain that armor skin…
(edited by Seabreeze.8437)
I hope there will be many pvp exclusive skins in future
Um, did you miss the blog where Anet said they’re unifying PvP and PvE skins so there won’t be any exclusive skins, or are you simply being sarcastic? I’m just wondering about the acquisition of said skins since they’re doing away with PvP crafting materials.
I’m not saying heavies shouldn’t have throwing spears. I can see guardians using throwing spears while warriors use melee spears like halberds or something similar. I’m mostly on the idea of elementalists using throwing spears, but I’d like to see other classes get them as well.
I’m concerned about this as well, though I think they’ll incorporate another way to acquire them. I’m not sure they’d just up and remove them altogether.
I was confused about the OP’s intent as well. Go figure.
That was the point of the entire post.
Then mission accomplished. :P
I posted this in the human lore thread, but actually it applies to any race. I’m sure this suggestion has been made, but I do miss the idea of throwing spears. It was a fun weapon mechanic; one you don’t see too often in games, to be honest.
I think there should be two types of spears introduced in this game:
1. Polearms, halberds, or lances for the heavy classes. It’d be a melee weapon, obviously, and one they could pair with an offhand shield, sword, etc. Anet could use some animations from warrior banners, now that I think about it.
2. Throwing spears, javelins, or harpoons for lighter classes. Magically-charged javelins for elementalists would be nice, kinda like how the magic bow works in Dragon’s Dogma (if you’re a magick archer). I’d love for my water-ele to throw hydro-javelins (I like water-based skills more than ice). Plus, it’d give elementalists another physical weapon choice besides just daggers, which would be a welcome addition, in my opinion.
So yeah, that’s a bit of what I’ve got. Sorry if it’s been said before. I’d like to hear if anyone else has ideas for spears and javelins.

I was confused about the OP’s intent as well. Go figure.
I support the “more emotes” movement.
/doubletake
My favorite GW1 emote.
Larger parties would be great, especially for dungeons! Another nice, albeit minor thing would be to have a little note on each of your guild members indicating their last log-in time.
