It’s just a case of patience I believe. The tribal set was an outlier (why on earth would anyone salvage their only copy of it? What would you purchase with those salvaged materials that would be of any value?) and I guess it didn’t fit into their current rewards model.
I genuinely believe this set will be obtainable in PvE somehow in the future. I am surprised it wasn’t placed in the regional reward tracks, but I expect that by the end of this year, the tribal armour will be attainable again in some form regardless of posts like this one.
There were several posts leading into the removal of glory that dissected sPvP rewards and which ones were high value low effort targets (Dwayna bows, dungeon weapons), which were unique to sPvP (Dark Moon Shield, Tribal armour, guild armour pieces, parts of the Rubric and Commando sets) etc. I wouldn’t say this was common knowledge, but anyone who was paying attention should have known about this set and had a chance to obtain it prior to the glory removal.
I suspect for now it’s a bonus luxury for players that had it prior to the removal and in the not so distant future it will be just another common set.
I hope you’re right. Especially about it being available in PvE (like from a karma vendor). Still hoping, man, still hoping…
Still waiting for news on this outfit. More importantly, still waiting for it to come back. PERIOD. Surely Anet’s aware of how much clamor there is for this armor set alone, not to mention all the other PvP skins that were removed as well.
Enough with the stalling. Bring it back already, please! Reward track, karma, whatever, just bring it back (karma, preferably, at least for this one, like it was in beta)!
Here are a couple of suggestions I’ve made regarding spears. I mainly like the idea for elementalists having magic javelins.
But yeah, there should be spears on land sometime in the future.
@Oliver: Whips and crossbows would be awesome!
Though I could see the crossbow as a rifle skin too, if Anet doesn’t want to make it it’s own weapon.
Umm…I don’t know how different is pvp masquerade set from pve masquerade set, but if they are the same…it’s still in the game. I’m pretty sure I have it in my wardrobe.
They are way different.
Tribal Armor (PvP Masquerade): “http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_Masquerade_armor”
PvE Masquerade Armor: “http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Masquerade_armor”
Anyways, this is my obligatory post in yet another Tribal armor request thread. WE NEED THIS ARMOR SET NOW!
Thank you for your time.
Animal Crossing is grindier than this game.
Seriously, you don’t know how many hours I’ve spent on Tortimer island farming rare bugs to sell for bells. I’ve had this game since release, and I don’t even have all the legendaries in that game. I’ve managed to get the golden slingshot and the golden axe, but the other ascended tools are gonna be a real pain to acquire.
Legendaries aside, though, you have to grind bells just to upgrade your own HOUSE! I’m not kidding, to fully upgrade your house, it’ll cost you over 7 MILLION BELLS! How can you make 7 million bells without grinding? It’s insane! Thanks, Tom Nook, for making this game impossible to play and have fun without grinding!
NINTEDOOOO! YOU RUIN MY AMINAL CROSSING! I QUIT UNTIL YOU FIX THIS GAME! NURF EVERYTHING! IT TOO GRINDYYYY!! RAAUGHWR!! >:O
In the wardrobe tab, the Tribal Armor is in there (towards the end), it’s just that the preview icons for the set shows the Masquerade armor.
I imagine that if/when they bring the Tribal armor back to attainability, they’ll update the preview icons to accurately display the armor set. But really, I could care less about the icons, I just want that armor back.
I suggest if you’re concerned about your account being hacked, you set up a Mobile Authenticator as an added level of account security.
That’s just what my gf told me. Got it taken care of today, as did my brother and his gf. Forgot to mention that to everyone. Thanks, Recalibar.
Also, don’t open any emails regarding your account. Chances are, they aren’t from Anet.
Another thing. I’ve noticed, especially recently, that gold selling whispers have been from players with actual names rather than just a bunch of random letters and numbers. It’s sad because that means it’s a probably real person’s account that got hacked, rather than just a random botter.
It’s becoming quite a problem as of late.
I’m required to chime in every single time I see a thread regarding this.
We. Need. This. Armor. Back.
Karma vendor, PvP reward track, whatever. We just need a way to unlock this skin, and all the other PvP skins, and soon.
I’ll continue to make at least one post every time the Tribal Armor is brought up, so you guys don’t forget how much I want this skin for PvE. Thanks!
I posted this in the human forums, but I want to see this hairstyle in a future update, in addition to more rugged styles instead of the constant boy-band junk we’ve been getting. Also, more dreadlocks would be nice, like that new asura male one.
So with the wardrobe system in place, can players who have the mats (or most of them) craft the crossing for the skin, then put it up on the trading post and make their money back? Because that would make it a good time to craft this bad boy for those who can. Not to mention it would raise the supply on the TP.
No you can’t do this. Unlock skin = soul bound/account bound.
Right, I forgot about this. My bad. Still, it’s nice to see players still crafting it and putting it up on the TP. Still wondering if it’ll be easier to craft come Halloween though, what with all the candy corn ores and such… hmmm.

Alright, so I guess I’ll just wait it out and hopefully we’ll see a lot more Crossings come Halloween. I just wasn’t sure if I should buy or wait.
Edit: Was the Crossing a Halloween item, or a Mad King item? Because actually that might give us a hint as to whether the recipe will come back or not this October.
Hey guys. I need your opinion on something.
So, I’ve wanted “The Crossing” (staff, for those who don’t know it) for quite some time now, and I’m disappointed that it’s now at almost 200g a piece with only 14 available. The lowest I’ve seen it was at around 178g when there was around 38 or so available.
My question: do you think it will be craftable again next Halloween? That would mean that more Crossings would come into the market and lower its price. However, if it doesn’t, then this is it. So should I just break down and buy it of the TP or wait and see if it can be crafted again next Halloween?
P.S. Still waiting on that Tribal armor, just so everyone knows.
I personally would love to play as a centaur. I know the limitations and such in regards to centaurs being playable, but if they could make it work, I’d be ecstatic. Plus, I really like how centaurs are portrayed in Guild Wars lore. They’re not your typical centaur in terms of looks, and I think that’s cool. Very unique! There really isn’t enough games like this where centaurs are customizable and playable.
If only… :\
CENTAURS!
…yeah, I know.
Throw the Tengu in there as a playable race and you’re already well on your way to an awesome expansion pack!
Yes they should be in the game somehow still. PvP had exclusive armor but everything from PvE was available through PvP?
Besides its not like theres karma vendors in different maps selling the same armor sets 7 times.
Lol, seriously. I’m sure a few of these karma vendors could change up their stock to accommodate the PvP armor sets. If PvP can earn you PvE armor, why not the other way around as well?
I’ll just leave this hear to show why I have no problem with the way guys wield greatswords.

My biggest issue with this situation, as I’ve stated before, is that these armor sets weren’t ever temporary pre-patch, so why aren’t they available now post-patch?
I can sorta understand the concept behind LS and holiday armor sets being temporary (although it’d be nice if they brought them back every now and then for like a two-day promotion or something for players that missed out), but all the PvP armor sets weren’t like that, nor should they be.
I’ll be so grateful if/when the Tribal set does come back, but man, the wait is brutal. I just hope it won’t be as demanding to unlock as dungeon armor (since again, they weren’t as rare/difficult to obtain as dungeon armor pre-patch). Karma, in my opinion, would be the best method of acquisition (as it was in beta), but I’ll be ecstatic just to see it obtainable again.
I know the feeling, Mithran. I think it’d be a nice addition to include some kind of indicator letting players know if a particular event will lead to another. Otherwise, many players simply bolt out of there the second they finish the event, leaving few others to tackle the follow-up quest (which is usually harder than the last) on their own.
Is it not in the wardrobe? It was shown in the wardrobe tailor and I’ve seen the commando armor in there for medium…
The PvP armor sets are in the wardrobe, but there’s currently no way to obtain them. That’s what everyone is concerned about.
Suggestions include making sets like the Tribal armor karma-based, craftable, or as a set in PvP reward tracks. Unfortunately, there’s been no word on the matter, other than that they “may” be added in later, which is only slightly reassuring.
We’re still waiting and hopeful for the return of the Tribal armor set, though. This, and all the other PvP armor sets. Let it be soon. Please don’t let us down, Anet!
(edited by Seabreeze.8437)
I think we’ll see more of Tyria before we see Cantha or Elona. It’d be cool though. I like TheDaiBish’s idea about the Tengu, considering they really should be playable soon. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for season 2.
Guys, guys, guys. I think we’re missing the point of this thread. Here, let me remind you.

One-day-only quest:
Speak with Tim the Enchanter to receive the quest “The Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog” which activates the [Group Event] “Slay the Champion Killer Rabbit.”
Well, I for one think it should be made available as a karma set. Someone suggested it should be sold by a karma vendor in the Shiverpeaks since the mask looks reminiscent of a grawl skull.
I’d like it to be acquirable in PvE as a karma set, but I’ll be fine if it shows up somewhere else as long as it’s fairly reasonable to obtain (I mean, it’s not like it’s dungeon armor or anything).
No matter what though, this armor set needs to come back soon! This and all the other PvP armor sets. And don’t make it temporarily available, as this wasn’t the case before the patch. It needs to be made available for good and all!
If they even informed us how kittenty these rewards will be and that they gonna remove pvp crafting before they removed glory then I would craft all these sets before that stupid patch. But how should I know, I thought that my glory and mats aren’t with an expiration date.
Right? I mean, Anet did tell us that after the update, there’d be no more PvP crafting. I thought, “Alright, hey, I’m sure they’ll just put these PvP armors somewhere else for us to get. Maybe a karma vendor or something, since they’ll be unified with PvE armor.”
Then the patch came out.
“WHERE ARE ALL THE PVP ARMOR SETS?!” Oh, didn’t we tell you? They no longer exist! THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP! Seriously, I knew that PvP crafting was going out the door, but I guess I was naive to think they’d show up somewhere else.
Okay, maybe they will show up later on, but man, I wish it’d be soon. And by soon, I mean like… tomorrow.
And really, these armor sets, if they’re not dungeon armor, should be much more reasonable to get.
Is there any way to still obtain the tribal skin or is this beautiful skin forever unreachable to anybody who hasn’t unlocked it yet? That would be a real shame! I really want that skin in PvE but never liked to play PvP .. Is my chance to ever have it now gone forever??
This needs to be implemented back into the game as soon as possible. There’s really no reason it should have even been removed in the first place. This and all the other PvP armor sets weren’t timed exclusives like LS or holiday outfits, so why are they gone? They should either be available as a whole armor set in a reward track or implemented in PvE in some way (i.e. make Tribal a karma set, like it originally was in beta). Whatever the case, I sincerely hope we see them in the game very soon, as players have been waiting for the Tribal set since the game’s release. How much longer do we have to wait?
Please give us back the Tribal armor set (and all other PvP armor sets) soon!
Having them for use in PvE does us no good if we can’t obtain them anymore, and we were never told they would be unobtainable after the patch. It’s very disheartening.
Do we get a choice about which piece of armor we accept, or is it random which piece we get?
Yes, you can choose any one of 54 items (18 skins, 3 stat spreads).
Holy….. Does Anet realize the sheer amount of time one would have to invest just to get a full set of armor in each weight class, not even including all the stat spreads? That’s completely insane! Who seriously has that kind of time?!
I’ve got some thoughts:
Do we get a choice about which piece of armor we accept, or is it random which piece we get? Also, why only one piece? That severely increases the time players have to invest to an almost unreasonable degree. Like some people suggested, if not the whole set, why not half the set, like your choice of three pieces or something?
Hmm, here’s another idea: I suppose dungeon armor could be a single piece reward since they’re hard to get in PvE as well. But what about the other PvP armor, like the Tribal set? I think in that case, those armors should be offered as a whole set reward since they weren’t as demanding as dungeon armor.
It just means that when the reward tracks rotate one of the new ones might have it.
I’m a bit confused. Are all reward tracks on a rotation or is it only the dungeon tracks? Because the Balthazar and Krytan tracks seem to be permanently unlocked, as far as I can tell.
Are they saying they’ll add new permanent reward tracks or would it be in a temporary rotation track? I hope it’s the former, but if it’s the latter, then I’d need to know as soon as it’s up. I hate time crunches, but I’ll do whatever it takes to get that armor set.
It’d be cool to see PvP armor sets get their own permanent unlock reward tracks (like “Tribal Armor Path” and “Marauder Armor Path,” etc.), where the reward would be a chest with the whole set inside. Either that or each checkpoint would have a piece, with the final being a rare weapon skin or something. I’d be so down for that!
Please let it be soon!
pvp reward track
Evan Lesh said.
Really? That’s cool, I sure hope that’s true. If it is, then the real question is….. when?
I love the idea of a rugged war veteran look. I have the eye patch, and I think the wrapped hair styles would fit really well.
Do want! \o/
Human males desperately need this hairstyle. It just looks so cool! Here’s hoping it’ll show up sometime.
Please give us hairstyles like this for human males!
Nobody knows. It’s been an elusive mystery for almost two years.
Please watch my miniseries, Elusiveness, for more information on this bizarre phenomenon.
It includes such hit episodes* as:
Loch Ness Monster: Friend or Foe?
Oh My God, You Just Ran Over a Chupacabra
Alien Abductions and Cow Licks
and finally
Where the ~~~~ is Tribal Armor in Guild Wars 2?1!!?11/1*Episodes may or may not actually exist.
Haha! Thanks, DarkOcean, that was good for a laugh!
So true, so true.
But seriously, we need that armor set. How much longer do we have to wait?
Well first of all, all of the PvP armor should come back (Tribal armor, hint hint). That is an absolute must!
Then, we can talk about other outfits and stuff. I think it’d be pretty nostalgic to see some more GW1 armor sets, especially in the medium category (since many people are kinda tired of trench coats). Personally, I’d love to see some of the Ritualist armor make it’s way into GW2, or at least it’d be cool to see more light armor sets inspired by GW1 Ritualists.
But as I said… Tribal armor is first and foremost and above all else. Need that first. Can’t say it enough. Need it… So yeah.
I think the worst part about all this for me is that I’ve got the whole week of Easter off from my full-time job. I’ve got nothing but time, but no goal to work towards since it’s not obtainable right now.
The wait is absolutely killing me. Why didn’t they make it acquirable from the start when they released the patch? Actually, I have the same question about all the PvP armors (but mostly the Tribal set :P ).
I’ve never done PvP yet, but if they add the PvP Masquerade (now called Tribal) armor set to a reward track, you can bet I’ll be there.
Yeah, I’m a PvE guy, and I’ve played since GW1, but I definitely don’t think I’m better than everyone else. If anyone gives me tips on how to play better/smarter, I’ll always respond and thank them. I have no problem with that. Heck, I know I’ll get slaughtered without help, so any tips are greatly appreciated.
The game is not only better without players harassing each other, but also when players are willing to accept help. So if that Tribal armor shows up in PvP, so will I, and I’ll accept any help players are willing to give me with gratitude. Who knows, I just might find PvP more fun than I thought!
Nice post, marlborz. It’s refreshing to see a calm discussion of ideas and opinions without the first post being “OMG DEVS RUINED THIS GAME HATE THIS GAME HATE ANET HATE EVERYTHING UNINSTALLING GAME NEVER COMING BACK BYE LOSERS”
Very nice post indeed, marlborz. You have my sincere thanks.
I loved Guild Wars 1. I love Guild Wars 2.
I think it’s a nice balance of casual and hardcore. There’s something for everybody here, and I really appreciate that. Sure it’s not perfect, but it’s still hands-down my favorite game to play. Speaking of which…
Back to Tyria!
I honestly thought that in conjunction with the release of the feature patch, they would’ve also brought back, like, all of the living story/ holiday skins for a week-long promotion or something to really kick off the new season.
Wishful thinking, but oh well. I just want that Tribal armor set to show up somewhere, and I’ll keep bringing it up whenever I can.
Black Lion tickets are terrible, I hate them. I don’t mind gem armors as much, but it would be nice to see some armor sets make it into a reward track or something. Still waiting for the Tribal armor set, though.
By the way, I think petitions are against forum rules, so this may get trashed. Just a heads up.
They made it clear that this was a FEATURE patch. Content will come later, don’t worry.
Implementing the Tribal armor as a karma set would be ideal, since that’s how it was during beta, though I’m willing to push through some PvP to get it if it shows up on a reward track.
It just needs to show up, plain and simple… and sooner rather than later. I’m eagerly awaiting any news about it.
@ stormcrow
I’m not saying it will fail if you don’t buy gems. I’m saying that if there was no suplimental source of income (i.e. The gem store) it wouldn’t be able to to maintain it’s upkeep indefinetly. Does that mean you HAVE to buy gems? No. Does it mean that Anet is a greedy company for highlighting a suplimental source of income for the game? No. It means that Anet, like any other business, is in industry for one thing only. To make money. With this line of thought, that Anet is greedy because they are trying to make money, would mean by extension, that ANY business is greedy. Everyone from your local Mom and Pop convience store to multi million dollar corporations are greedy because they want to make money. But thats a whole other disccussion. If you don’t like the gem store and the way it’s evolving. Don’t use it. There are plenty of others who will. And unless we can know for 100% certain the amount of money generated from gem store purchases and game purchases (input) vs. the costs and wages to keep the game running (output), there is no way to know for sure whether or not this is a “money grubbing” tactic.
Heres also something to think on. Maybe it’s not Anet that is greedy, but that those who think it’s greed motivated are just cheap?
Well stated.
I support this thread.
GW1 had some great armor. I especially loved the Halloween sets.
PvP skins are NOT Living Story skins. They were just like PvE armor sets, the only difference being the method of acquisition. They absolutely should not be treated like they were timed exclusives. So no, it should not be sold for Black Lion tickets.
It should either be put into a reward track or implemented as a karma set (like it was during beta from what I’ve heard).
I want this to be available too – the idea that it be unlocked in a pvp reward track is pretty much perfect. I would put up with having to do more pvp to get it because that makes sense. However, it would also make sense to be available from Karma hearts where Grawl are present – Shiverpeak areas. And this would of course be my preferred method of acquisition.
Agreed 100%. If it has to stay strictly PvP-obtainable only, then let it be in a reward track at a reasonable level to acquire; it’s not like it’s dungeon armor or anything. I’m not a PvP player, but I’m more than willing to put serious effort into it if this armor set (renamed Tribal armor) can be my goal. Ideally though, they should just bring it back to the way it was in beta, as I hear most people saying it was a karma set back then (I didn’t get a chance to play beta, so I’m just going by what folks said).
Regardless, there really is no reason whatsoever that this armor set – which players have been begging for since beta – should remain unobtainable. It’s not Living Story or holiday event armor, so why treat it like it was a timed exclusive?
And why is Anet so tight-lipped about it? This is stressing me out so much! The volume of cheers they’d get for releasing this armor set alone would be deafening. Not to mention all the other PvP armors that should be released. It sounds silly, but this would really make my day, as I’ve been waiting to create a particular character of mine until I can grab and use this armor for PvE adventuring.
So where is it? Seriously, please give us good news, the anticipation is killing me!
I’m not even sure how region reward tracks work. I know people suggested that the Tribal be a Maguuma region track, but what does that mean exactly? Like, play PvP on maps located in Maguuma or what?
Regardless, Exedore, from what I’ve read, there’s literally NO possible method to acquire these armor sets at this point in time, and there REALLY needs to be. Heck, since PvP/PvE armor is unified, why not just make the armors craftable through their respective crafting disciplines (i.e. Tribal: Tailoring, etc.)? I actually mentioned that in another thread, but I thought I’d mention it here while we’re on that topic.
They said they may be added back in as rewards in the future.
Yeah, but what’s with the “may” and “in the future” bit? Like, they may show up, or they may be gone forever, but we won’t say. What the heck is that?! As I said, these armor sets aren’t LS or holiday related, so why should they be treated as such? They were regular armor sets, just like in PvE, only you obtained them through different methods. Now that the armor system is changed, their acquisition should simply change as well, not be removed entirely as if they were timed exclusives or something.
Again, I’m saying this like they’re gone forever, but they may not be. Maybe. Maybe not. Yes, no, I dunno. Can’t say for sure. Sometime in the future, but maybe never. Whatever it is, we’ll never say!
That’s what’s driving me crazy.
