I logged in at my friend’s computer which had never been used to log in my account before, and it didn’t ask for authentication at all. I definitely have mobile authentication activated. Something seems off.

On another note, CoF path 3 got a minor stealth buff. The godforged enemies near the final boss usually disappear, but now they stay.

I’m having the same trouble with this JP as with clock tower (other players). I’d be happy to wait until there are fewer people but I’m worried about the champ at the end. Is he solo-able?

The champ at the end is after the jumping puzzle, on the island across the way. You can get there by jumping across the wooden planks on the other side of the boat.

You don’t have to ever encounter that mob if you choose not to. It’s just guarding a second regular chest.

It is also possible to jump up on the hill behind the champion and avoid him completely. A guildmate and I wound up doing that instead of going the easier path (cause we didn’t see it).

Something is wrong here. I have ~13,700 HP on my Elementalist and I went and leeroy’d half of the cavern (it’s a giant spiral staircase full of Young Karka and Veterans). I got to the top before I got downed once with almost every mob hitting me at one point or another.

From my experience yesterday, the lag of tons of players in one zone gets to be a bit hectic. So I sorta want to avoid the new map (I assume the karka will be there) until the hype and lag fest dies down a little. But will the karka remain after the event?

I’m not sure if I need to go kill 200 for the monthly in the remainder of the weekend or not.

During the captured colossus fractal, one of our group member was pushed off the scaffolding while holding the hammer. When you fall off of these it plants your corpse at the start of a checkpoint. The hammer seems to have vanished when he died, making it impossible to complete the fractal. Does the hammer respawn somewhere we missed?

If you lose the hammer, have everyone die (fall damage) and it should appear at your checkpoint.

Talked to the NPC, he didn’t turn red, can’t proceed with the event.

I wasn’t even aware that this was a “bug” until the update. I know the blast finisher effect on every roll (say two in a row) was a bug, but I thought that at least one was intended. I just want the finisher effect back. Give it a cooldown, if it’s really that overpowered.

Sarcasm aside, no, don’t go with this build.

My two level 80s are a Necromancer and Elementalist. I’ve been using an Elementalist due to better support and pure damage (as yellow objects STILL don’t take condition damage). But since Evasive Arcana has been changed, I’ve started raising my Warrior up as my third character. It’s currently level 40, and I have a bit of fun supporting with banners / shouts and whatnot.

A single trait that offers, in addition to four skills, four blast finishers, is broken in my humble opinion.

Evasive Arcana is good as it is now, although I admit it’s more so for pvp than for pve.

From what I’m seeing, a lot of people saying that the changes were good are those who sPvP a lot. And those who say the change was bad, are a lot of PvE players (+ some sPvP). I don’t understand why they couldn’t just separate the effect like they did for other classes. I find it hard to believe this was a bug that JUST got fixed now.

Or perhaps if people were complaining about it’s use in sPvP, separate it’s use in sPvP and PvE, like some other class skills.

I’m kind of at a loss too. I used staff heavily in dungeons as support and buffing with fields and Evasive Arcana to combo blast.

Sigh, I loved the blast finishers in Evasive Arcana, it was great as a way to support people in dungeons.

AC, CoE, and HotW are the best for money in my opinion. I almost always leave a path of HotW with full bags, and that’s usually skipping some mobs too. CoE is decent loot, but the chance for cores or lodestones can up your profit by a hell lot if you get one. AC is quick and easy.

Besides exchanging the tokens for rares (60 tokens = 2 armor rares from the dungeon merchant), there is no guaranteed drop. However, because the mobs drop often and with decent loot, running even a bit of MF (be it food, banners, boosts, or any combination) raises your chances by a good bit.

People don’t skip Kholer because he’s hard to kill, he’s skipped because it’s not worth the time. Even my guild mate who has a 2-3s lag due to his location can dodge him. First time ACers, if told to watch for the skill and dodge, can dodge him. He’s a good boss to teach people how to use the dodge mechanic properly, but that’s about it. I see him as a tutorial boss, nothing more.

I prefer the Norn regions over Charr. The snow is calming. Though I heavily dislike both dredge and branded creatures.

The 4 hours were primarily because we were stubborn and did not want to give up. There was an hour or so where we were waiting for people since 1-2 people gave up. We had no issues hitting the burrows (moving while hitting solves most of it for melee characters). It was more of prioritizing our DPS and deciding how to go about it. We got close to finishing in those 4 hours, but then other tries we would fail.

In the end it was a DPS issue (not a hitbox issue), with almost half the party doing little to no damage on burrows because they were condition spec’d.

The dungeons require patience and willingness to learn. Some dungeons took my guild hours to complete before, but we didn’t let it keep us away. After doing them over and over and learning from our mistakes, we are now able to clear them easily without deaths. For example, the first time we tried AC path 3, we tried the burrow event for 4 hours. Now with more experience in doing it, we clear it in one go, and sit around waiting for the event to finish, rather than being rushed to clear burrows.

Not all players will know a dungeon or their class by the time they try AC. But if they let a few failures deter them, then that is their fault, not ANet’s.

I thought that the path 2 boss was overbuffed? Pretty certain I saw a dev post saying a fix was in the works. It was buffed, but too much.

No off hand weapons at this time have auras or footprints. Heck only a few main hand/ 2 handers do. Only Bolt has an aura, the hammer has armour change. The rest of the legendaries have their animations tied to wielding the weapons.

Combining legendaries would be nice but first they need to improve existing ones. I’d also hate to lose the Bolt Aura.

@Ryoko – Bolt’s animations have not changed one bit pre- and post patch. The only thing that changed is the sound was fixed. Yggdra (my friend) who had the world first (I was there when he made it) has EXACTLY the same animations my Bolt and my Bolt hasn’t changed over the last 2 weeks other than sound. I do agree though, Bolt is on par with the legendary Greatswords. I still like Twilight’s blade skin but I don;t use greatswords.

By offhand, do you mean a legendary that is purely an offhand weapon? I’m going for Incinerator (which can be main or off). It’d be terribly disappointing if it lost its effects when equipped as offhand.

This just happened to my guildies and I. If this is the same bug. Was in a party and all of a sudden it showed me as not, and not in a guild. I could still talk to them in /s chat, and they/I show up offline.

Are you looking at the reward on the top right? The correct amount pops over your head.

The same could be said for WvWvW. The monthly is telling you that WvWvW is a must. It is optional, just like dungeons. No one is forcing you to do dailies. If you don’t like to achieve the monthly, then don’t. It is not a hand out, you must put in at least a bit of effort.

They seemed bigger, meaning they’re easier to hit. Got rid of most of the obstructed/out of range issues.

Haven’t noticed much else.

I’ve only done AC, CM, and TA the past few days. Those are 3 different dungeons, and I have my 5 dungeons completed.

Warning: the mystic forge stones can be used as a substitute for the last item, but it does not mean it will act as the same type. AKA 3 greatswords + mystic forge stone = any weapon. I threw 3 daggers and a stone into the forge and got a hammer.

CM, TA, and HotW are all pretty simple and PUGable. The fastest path of HotW would definitely be 1, the other two are slow due to HP pools, and water combat.

I spent $20 for the Witch outfit and left the rest of the gems in case I need them later. I feel that the outfit was worth it.

Dying a few times is normal, especially if you’re new to dungeons. Even as an experienced player, sometimes you make a mistake or two and die. In the end, so long as your death toll is minimal, your end reward still makes up for your repair (especially in AC with the money drop from the champion and boss + end reward).

Why have WvWvW kills been in the monthly?

It goes both ways. PvErs or people with less than optimal machines may not like to PvP. PvPers might not like to PvE. There even may be PvPers who hate WvWvW or PvErs that hate dungeons.

I’m guessing they were added to the monthly as an incentive to do them. I personally love it being in the monthly (it’s only 5 dungeon completions required – that’s not much). On an average day, I run that many, sometimes more.

Just like people complain about having to WvWvW, people will complain about having to do PvE. I did 3 dungeon runs last night, and I’m at tier 3 (of 3) if I read it right. So I’m assuming it’s only about 5 dungeons. Maybe 10 max if I read it wrong. I also would have preferred if monthly was kept to soloable activities, but it is what it is. I’m not a huge WvWvWer, but I have about 27 kills for my monthly so far after spending an hour or so in my server’s borderlands. I can understand people’s gripe, especially if their machine can’t handle it well. But no one is forced to do the achievments.

On my very last Black Lion Chest for Halloween I got an Endless Mystery Tonic. The description indicates it smells of furniture polish, and indeed it turns me into various types of furniture. Pretty hilarious although not necessarily what I expected given its legendarily poor drop rate.

Can anyone tell me are there other types of Endless Mystery Tonic that turn you into other things, or is it just tables/chairs/chests/hammocks?

I’m pretty sure there’s other types. The one my friend has, has the description of a mystery tonic (singed fur or something). He’s never turned into furniture, only mob like creatures.

1. People who rage at others instead of killing. I was in a party that had people preferring to skip and those wanting to kill Kholer. The guy who wanted to kill spent a good 10ish minutes kittening at the people who preferred skipping, speaking about all the rage on the forums and what not. The people who preferred skipping weren’t against killing, but the other guy wasted time raging at us.

2. Impatient people/those who can’t cope with new people. Not everyone has done the dungeon before, not everyone knows what you’re trying to do. Get everyone up to speed before you get frustrated that it’s not going smoothly.

3. People who have all their utilities on rather pointless skills. For example, I know a thief who tends to use all signets in their utilities and never even activates them during the dungeon. What in the world do you need 25% movement speed for? You’re not even kiting anything.

Be of use to your party.

4. People who go afk auto attacking on bosses like CoF path 3. Sure you’re not getting aggro but this guy takes awhile to kill. Doing something other than a long range slow auto attack would be nice.

I will be getting it, provided my power doesn’t go out due to Hurricane Sandy.

I got an exotic on my Necromancer and Karma Booster on my Elementalist. The exotic is Soulbound on Use.

Wow.. a hurricane is about to hit you and all you people care about is missing an event you can Youtube later? Is seeing something really so important that you can think of nothing else like your families and homes? Someone WILL be recording this and it will look the same in a video as it will being in game for it. Take care of your real lives and be grateful you live in an age where people can record and post the things you want to see.

It’s not the one time event people are talking about missing. It’s the last act/finale. Power outages can last multiple days, and from experience, the DC/MD/VA area takes a long time to get power back up. Those who lose their power will lose out on the last part of the Halloween event. I know in particular that nothing terribly dangerous usually happens in my vicinity, but power goes out for long periods of time.

I used to live in south Florida. I’ve been through category 3 and 4 storms that didn’t even knock my power out. The biggest difference between Florida and the northeastern US when it comes to electrical power reliability is trees. The second biggest difference is corruption (state and local governments have allowed power companies to pocket profits in lieu of maintaining the power grid, which has reduced reliability).

A storm came through the DC/MD/VA region in July and it knocked out the power for several million people for days, literally. This wasn’t even a hurricane or a tornado, it was just a nasty thunderstorm.

Oh god that storm. That was in the middle of some 80-90 degree weather too if I recall. It took the power companies a hell of a long time to get power back for everyone. I managed to get it back in 2 days, then lost it again for awhile at another small thunderstorm. My friends in another city didn’t get it back for a week.

If this storm is anything like that thunderstorm back in July – and this will likely be worse – the power is gonna be out for days.

Kill 2 of the grenadiers. Have the last one be stalled. The person who has the aggro should dodge the blasts. The rest of the party moves on.

This. I only did one game of Lunatic Inquisition, and I still have no clue what I was doing. I just know I survived for a hell of a long time while running around (mostly cause I never saw other people.)

Reaper’s is a bit more obvious, but even when you get the pumpkin, it doesn’t tell you how to summon the skeletons. I was walking up to the mausoleum and trying to find an interact button, until someone screamed at me saying “THROW IT.” Well gee, I assumed if I threw it, it would destroy it and not do anything.

I have some friends who also lag and can’t really complete this puzzle (at least I haven’t seen them do it yet). But it isn’t needed for the title.

It does however, grind your gears, if you are a completionist.

I don’t think any of the passive speed buffs actually make it in, since the in tower skill set is completely bare. But:

Sylvari Necromancer, 10% Passive.
Human Elementalist, 10% Passive.

It’s hard to say if they’re gonna be worth anything in say an exchange or something down the road. The skin isn’t unique, it can’t be salvaged, and the stats aren’t very good. I’m just using it as an exotic piece of my magic find gear.

I would say that a slight adjustment in the mist time would be nice. I’ve already finished it twice (didn’t feel like doing it more on other alts), but I know some people who are pretty laggy net connection wise. Their lag means they can’t do it at all, at least without 10x the difficulty.

The Mark 2 Golem being insanely difficult is a bug, I believe. I just ran path 2 for the first time earlier today, gave up on the boss.

I was able to get into Reaper’s Rumble after the new build. Played about 5 games, won at least one. Didn’t get any achievement. Entered via the Labyrinth.

Also, if you have a Necromancer, you can effectively lower the amount of coordination needed from 5 to 4 torches. A minion can help distract (as it will be invulnerable to hits (it won’t attack either) on the north most torch.
