The problem is, they don’t know which specific sets we bought for the achievement. You only had to buy one armor weight set a tier, per race.

Please make it so that transmuted items are named after the skin that is used, rather than of the weapon/armor which supplied the stats. It doesn’t make sense that a weapon that looks like a Tormented Staff is called a Berserker’s Pearl Quarterstaff

This is my biggest gripe with the new patch. I hope this wasn’t intended.

I believe it was a way of distinguishing between ‘real’ and ‘fake’ weapons.

Fake and real legendaries would be key too.

They could just swap the name of the item and the one in the Transmuted text, and people would still know if it was fake. The “fake” ones would be the ones with the Transmuted text. Of course, this potentially poses a “fake” issue to those who were transmuting a legendary around their characters, or before it was made stat swappable?

Transmuted Names REDO

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sera.6539

Sera.6539

It’s funny cause the names that you see (aside from the bugged ones and they’re obvious) are the actual skin names. There’s like 30 different names for Iron Sword, exact same skin but each karma vendor has it’s own name for it. Same with armors. Get used to it, if your preferred skin name isn’t in the wardrobe name list, you’re going to get what the wardrobe says it’s called.

Maybe I’m interpreting your post wrongly. We’re bothered by the items we transmuted to get the name and look of an item, with the stats of another. With the patch, it takes the base stats item name, and the look of the other.

For instance, Wings of Dwayna. The default stats are:
+179 Healing Power
+128 Power
+128 Toughness
Superior Sigil of Life

Not [many] people are going to use that stat setup, so some may transmute to a berserker weapon for instance. Before the patch (this is my case-not generalizing), it was called Wings of Dwayna with the stats of a Molten Longbow. Now, it’s called Molten Longbow, with the look of Wings of Dwayna. It’s pretty much the same thing, in a technical sense. But the name is something we want to be able to choose. We basically want to flip the name of the item, and the one after the Transmuted line.

I haven’t been able to play much with the feature patch, only about 15 min or so before I had real life to attend to. But from the information they gave us, and what I noticed in those 15 minutes.

1. Bosses on schedule.
2. Megaservers (gathering nodes specifically)
3. Transmuted item names not showing the name you want, but rather the base item
4. UI is a bit clumsy

Transmuted Names REDO

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sera.6539

Sera.6539

Not to mention this change makes no sense for the items that had no base stats in the first place. All the named backpiece skins, the random armor pieces (Fused/Dragon Helmets/etc.), any SAB weapon. There’s also T3 cultural armor, which you’re pretty much encouraged to transmute, because the stats aren’t even exotic (I think this is affected, but I could only play for about 15 min after the patch hit).

If they were able to display it this way, they clearly already had the data so we could unlock the skins. Why not just take the new name of the item, and have the text in the description be “Original (or Base): ________”

I use equipment names to swap equipment quickly. Can’t really do that as easily now.

I use my left hand for WASD, weapon swap, F-keys, dodge, 1-6, E (my key for default utility 9). I have piano like hands (long fingers), so they’re not difficult to reach. I really don’t use my elite that often, so I often just click it.

My mouse has 7, 8, F1 (I only press this when on a class with a single mechanic button). Also have one button as a left click when pressed down function, to open bags or use items fast.

So really I’m not using most of the buttons. :P

Sera.6539

If the only reason you are playing GW2 is for the achievement points and to get the AP chests, it’s probably better to move on from the game. Either that or find a different goal to strive for. I’ve been playing almost every day since launch (minus vacation), and around ~4000 hours. I’d say I’m a faithful player. I like this cap.

Does it mean it’ll take longer to get the achievement chests? Sure. Does it mean I’ll stop doing dailies/monthlies? Nope, I get laurels, mystic coins, and a chance at free black lion items. Does it stop me from enjoying other parts of the game? Nope. I still have goals I set in the game to accomplish, and the cap won’t affect that at all. In fact, it’ll probably make me enjoy the game more, as I won’t have to worry about always finishing the daily.

Then they gave us the slider to turn down the volume of musical instruments or off completely. Then the spamming stopped for the most part, or maybe it didn’t. I don’t know because I have them turned off since day one of the update. It was a welcome feature IMO.

Dual legendaries solution?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sera.6539

Sera.6539

So your argument is that whatever anet decides is okay for the game, because anet can’t realistically be expected to make everyone happy. The reason you believe this is because you believe we shouldn’t be entitled to anything. I was asking for an actual reason, but all you have done is regurgitated the same hollow argument back at me. Why should we recieve anything? Maybe because happy customers spend more money or is making people happy about their choices not something the developers should strive for? You will of course argue that we are such a small minority as to not be worthy of the same courtesy, but I don’t think it is too much for anet to try and please their paying customers just like any business. We can come up with many good reasons and all you have to say is you don’t matter you are not entitled. Great your argument works for anything that isn’t a contractual agreement. What we are talking about really though is good faith. It is a gesture of good faith that we hope for and it is our hope that by voicing our concerns anet will compensate us as a gesture of good faith.

The other things that you haven’t responded to: the subjective value of the time spent with the “prestige” of having dual skins, how ANet will determine who gets compensation (other than what they decide on their own unknown criteria – which is ever changing since some people report getting a precursor back and some get a SOL response). Did you not make a conscious decision to make a second of the same item knowing that things could change in the future? That if you make X, you get X?

Yes, this is ultimately about good faith. But there has to be concern over the potential impact as well. If you get compensation for dual legendaries, what about the folks with dual expensive exotics, the dual T3, or dual anything for that matter? ANet has decided for now that gemstore (I believe) and unidentified dyes are included right now (gemstore likely due to the chance money may have been involved), and dyes for who knows what reason.

The two biggest suggestions that people have made are:

1. Make one of them non account bound so the person can sell it.
—This will likely tamper with the market a lot more than unidentified dyes will. This is also mildly rewarding those who made a dual skin even more. As they got the (subjective) value of having the two items, then get to sell it off because they no longer want it. The value of a legendary is also ever fluctuating, so what one person spent may not be the same as now.
2. Allow you to switch a second to another legendary.
—What’s the time frame that someone should get included in on this? What if they announced this and then someone makes a second legendary to cash in on the opportunity? Such as what if someone spent less money on X legendary and then gets to choose more expensive Y legendary? They would also have to implement a way to exchange, which means more time spent, and if that happens to be bugged to be exploitive, oh man.

I’m more okay with suggestion 2, than 1. But my belief is that there was still a decision made to get two of a single item. You should have to live with that decision.

Come April 15th and the following weeks, I guess we’ll see what ANet’s stance is on it.

Sanctum Sprint
I’m not sure about your point about achievements for Sanctum Sprint. There’s an achievement for placing in the top 3, so shouldn’t that be encouraging people to race/win? Any time I play Sanctum Sprint, I see people duking it out pretty heavily, only if they enter late do they play around. But that’s just what I’ve observed.

Keg Brawl
Biggest issues I see with this are people taking kegs outside the play zone, or just plain AFKing and causing imbalance in the teams. I almost always have a full team against another full team (minus 1-2 AFK now and then) whenever I do my daily activity (at reset or after I get on my PC after work ~4:30 PM EST).

Crab Toss
I have no real opinion on this other than I’ve disliked the mini game ever since the Crabtacular achievement. This is the only game I AFK during cause I still haven’t gotten the bad taste out of my mouth.

Southsun Survival
Map should probably be a lot smaller. Or maybe introduce a type of debuff that penalizes players for staying in a specific area too long. The poison idea sounds good too. Sorta similar to the tide in Worms or walls closing in during Bomberman.

Stacking and skipping, kills the dungeons

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Sera.6539

Sera.6539

I don’t care if there is no holy trinity, you have to communicate properly to get passed the next room or boss, not skip and sit in “this” specific corner, and you now have to skip the next set of mobs because “they’re too difficult”

A developer commented quite awhile back about skipping. There simply is no good reward right now to balance the time it takes to kill the trash mobs. People aren’t skipping them because they’re too difficult, they skip because it takes time and you get nigh nothing from it. That time can be spent doing other things. Thus people are also focused on efficiency and speed clearing (stacking + DPS zerker meta).

I am only against skipping and stacking if it’s a teaching situation. I’d want new people to learn how a dungeon was done before super efficient methods became norm, and then show them the more efficient method. That way if something goes wrong, they can fend for themselves and not act like chickens with their heads cut off.

Dual legendaries solution?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Sera.6539

Or ANet decided to draw the line at gem store purchases and unidentified dyes. It’s completely up to them. No one is entitled to compensation.

What is the (subjective) gold value of the time you spent having dual legendaries/skins, and having that “prestige” when others didn’t? To dual owners, maybe it’s only 1 copper. To ANet, maybe it’s 2500g.

To dual owners the skin is the legendary. Any dual owner will tell you that the stat swapping is less functional than making a couple ascended weapons because of the inability to swap sigils. Stat swapping sounds good until you try and move it between different builds that need different sigils to perform optimally.

We might not be entitled, but we still get to have a say. If your only argument is that we are not entitled anything then you must agree that compensation would be ideal to nothing. Everyone would get what they want, no one would have to be disappointed.

If you don’t think that is ideal though, then I think you are using entitlement to mask some other issue you have with compensating dual legendary owners.

Sure compensation is ideal to nothing. Something is better than nothing in most cases. But if you are not entitled anything, why should you receive it?

The issue is that not everyone can be compensated. ANet HAS to draw the line somewhere, and that’s up to them. ANet could shut the game down and that would be the end of that. We are at their mercy. Are gem store purchases more entitled to compensation than dual skin owners? Is a guy who salvaged a precursor entitled to a new one? The answer is probably no to the first, and a definite no to the second. ANet may do something about it, they may not.

You have a say, of course you do. But my opinion is that people make a conscious decision to do what they did in game. That means fully accepting the present and future pros / cons of their decision. If it meant hocking stacks of Silk Scraps before Ascended Tailoring was announced. If it meant wardrobe skins being in the possible future, if it means Meteorlogicus becomes uglier. Is it fair? Probably not, but you still made that decision, and knew that ANet could change something up.

Did you enjoy the time you had before the change? That’s another question that ANet has to contemplate as well.. My friends have gotten some expensive skins like Wings of Dwayna or Infinite Light in sPvP, without much effort. On the other hand, I grinded my kitten off for both of them. But I got to have it around in PvE before they did. So long as they don’t be an kitten about having the skins, I’m not terribly bothered by it.

No one is holding a gun to your head.

Actually, what if someone literally is?

If someone literally was holding a gun to a person’s head, I would be very concerned and curious about who they’ve been associating with, and why that person cares about GW2.

I tried ESO during the beta and didn’t like it. I hear that it currently has a lot of the typical launch problems. Bugs everywhere, something about the starting island being removed, and thus messing with the story/dialogue, issues with the voice work (since they had to rush some new dialogue because of the starting island). There was also the issue of non instanced dungeons being practically not a dungeon at all because of the amount of players sitting in them.

But as others have said, GW2 is a game you can take a break from. Take one if you want, especially now, with living story being on break.

I’ve been looking for a laptop myself, and the site I was checking was http://www.xoticpc.com/ with Clevo/Sager as the manufacturer. I’ve heard that they’re a reliable/reputable brand and a great bang for you buck.

http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np7358-clevo-w350ss-p-6991.html?wconfigure=yes Main Defaults:
-i7-4700MQ (2.4GHz – 3.4GHz, 6MB Intel® Smart Cache)
-GTX 860M
-8GB RAM
-750 GB HD
-No OS

Listed below are the things I chose to add/customize:
-(Upgrade) Thermal Compound
-(Add) 120 GB SSD

Bringing it to around $1,154 (~€ 838?). I’m not sure how much extra the shipping will cost if you’re wanting it internationally. From reviews and predictions/projections, I believe the FPS it should reach is ~30 if playing in Ultra settings and 1920×1080?

GW2 is indeed more heavily reliant on CPU, than GPU (so there isn’t too huge a difference here CPU wise). But figured I should suggest a different site to consider.

1) What are the skills you acquire in this game?
Coordination (between people, hand-eye), visual awareness/tracing (being able to keep an eye on things like enemy tells, boons, conditions, HP status), reflex reactions

2) How long it takes you to acquire that particular skill?
Really depends on the person, and how much experience they’ve had with using those skills for other things.

3) Does you have to use specific gear or items to learn the skill ( like particular mouse or keyboard)?
You don’t have to, but it helps. I have a Logitech G600 Mouse, which I use for my default F1, 7, and 8 abilities. People can play without a particular mouse or keyboard, they just have to find a setup of keybinds that works for them.

Probably against the ToS. But I don’t think ANet really cares for the people giving money to their friends. They’re not as much of hindrance to business as the gold sellers are. Especially when the obtaining of the precursor will be done through legit means.

But I agree, making legendaries untradeable is probably best at this point, and it would close the potential Eternity exploit.

I personally think there should be more of a barrier, say like Story Mode + 1 Explorable Path, but that’s me. Overall, this doesn’t really bug me. Arah looks itself have been becoming less and less prestigious. There was shard farming, the countless exploits, and also path selling.

I forget which one it is (I really haven’t done 2 and 3 in forever), but I do remember one of them being pretty short (time wise) if you skip properly. But the last boss takes a bit longer than most and is more boring, so it feels like the entire path takes longer in comparison to others.

The top priority fixes most definitely is the Eternity bug, tell me I’m wrong and people who sell Eternity after soulbinding Twilight and Sunrise, gaining 4000-5000g and still able to use Twilight and Sunrise skins, are perfectly alright.

I do agree with you on that point. That’s a pretty serious oversight. Easily fixed by making any newly-forged Eternity account-bound on acquire.

This might actually give me an incentive to craft Eternity now
I agree this realllly needs to be addressed.

I think if they make Eternity account bound on creation, I would have a greater inventive to actually craft it. Currently, it’s more cost effective to just buy Eternity out-right, which I think is sustained by people using it as a way to liquidate Sunrise/Twilight.

But to be honest, I never understood why Legendaries are actually tradable at all. King Arthur didnt just buy Excalibur off Ebay, so why the heck can you buy Eternity off the trading post, that makes it rather un-legendary.

The precursors should be still tradable because people get duplicates and frankly we need a non-RNG way to get them, but I think they should just make all Legendaries account bound from now on. I don’t think anyone actually shells out 600 bucks for pixels anyways.

You’d be surprised (actually probably not) how many people actually straight up buy legendaries with real money—>gold. I spoke to a person about a month ago or so who wound up spending like $300 for keys for Lovestruck weapons. He kicked himself after he realized he could have put the money towards a legendary (he didn’t know you could convert gems to gold).

Someone else I know has apparently spent close to $1600 on various gem store stuff. If people have the spare money and freedom to spend, it really is more convenient for them. The money replaces the time grind. He’s going to pay someone else $100 after his friend farms enough gold for a precursor for him.

I still use it to get cheaper waypoint fees. It still has some use, even if skins will be in wardrobe.

There is absolutely no reason to make a dual legendary at all after this change, people who wants legendary available in wardrobe will NEVER gonna make dual, people who made dual or more legendary gonna feel like idiots, and please don’t tell me that we lose nothing, you are not in our shoes, you will never, ever be one of us. Many people are feeling this way, that’s why someone made this thread and people like us are in this thread. Sure some people with dual not agreed with us, but they at least know how us feel..

Funny how people called us selfish, we Made dual or more, we have the RIGHT to complain about new changes.

You pay a price to be first. Consider it a life lesson.

And yes, you do have the right to complain. You have the right to hiss and moan and make a lot of noise, but at the end of the day, most people (including many dual-legendary owners) are overjoyed at this change and your petition to block it has 13 signatures. I could get more people to sign a petition for my cat.

I would sign that. I love cats!

And as much as I hate analogies, this is what came to mind:

Bob buys two PS3s for $599. A few months later, his time frame for refund has expired. They announce that anyone who buys a PS3 for $599 will get an extra for free. Joe buys a PS3 for $599 and gets an extra.

Bob can certainly get annoyed, disappointed, etc. etc. But is he entitled to a refund?

This looks like a very bad and unnecessary change. I don’t understand the rationale behind this cap on dailies and monthlies. How is it good for the game to remove some of the incentives for playing regularly? I really hope ANet reconsiders this move.

BTW, it’s not clear from this article since it only discussed the AP portion of the rewards, but could this change also imply that other rewards (mystic coinds, laurels) from dailies/monthlies may get similarly capped?

Likely Rationale: Help instill a bit of fairness into the leaderboards. So that a higher rank on the leaderboards isn’t a game of who logins and does the most dailies.

And it is very doubtful that the laurels, mystic coins, and other rewards from dailies / monthlies are getting capped.

It’s not really about the score. Its about your ability to unlock rewards is diminished because of the way you earned them. This is not supportive of the idea of “Play How You Want”.

If you enjoyed playing all aspects of the game and being rewarded for it on a regular basis… You have alot to lose by this cap.

Is a daily achievement, really an achievement though? If you enjoy playing all aspects of the game, you can still be rewarded. There are PvE achievements, PvP achievements, and WvW achievements in their own categories. And there is no doubt that there will be additional achievements added with time. This helps give them a bit more value.

I have 8.1k dailies and 1.7k monthlies and 19.2k points overall.

Ok .. stupid question .. where do you actually see how many daily points you have ?

Hover over your AP amount in game.

How do we know that this AP cap won’t eventually be translated to other caps to “equalize” us all? There could be a cap someday on dungeon chests or champ bags, etc. You can earn x number of dungeon chests then no matter how many dungeons you run in the future you won’t get a chest because you’ve reached the cap. To help keep all players at an even number of gold or some such idiocy. I really don’t see how caps on rewards and activities is a good idea in a game.

The leaderboards are meant to be competitive. It needed more equalizing because the way it is now, is skewed. Those potential changes you’re concerned about are likely never to enter the game.

I’m sorry, but if players don’t enjoy the dailies now, why are they doing them and why should someone that enjoys doing them receive less rewards?

Some players do them simply to keep up AP wise. To keep their standing in the leaderboards. For some players, that is what they’re interested in. Enjoyment and fun is subjective. If you truly “enjoy” doing a daily, are you enjoying it for the act of doing it, or the reward for doing it?

Try not to think of it as receiving less. Instead everyone is simply receiving the same amount now. Player A gets 10,000 daily points max, player B gets 10,000 max. You will still be rewarded, just not in the same manner. Just like Agent of Entropy caps, or how Hobby Dungeon Explorer caps. You still get materials from salvaging. You still get money, loot, and tokens from repeating dungeons. You will still get items from completing daily.

It just means that you now have to turn to other things to get your AP. Consider yourself a master of daily completion once you hit cap.
