Some things should just not be salvageable. There are other items in game that can not be salvaged or sold so perhaps something so rare and valuable shouldn’t be also.
I had really given up as a casual player but I have to say that recent efforts by the team have encouraged me. I want to thank the GW2 team for renewing hope in the game for me and players of all play styles. Thank you, its not perfect but I can see that your working on it.
My husband and I will try to be there [we live in Seattle] .
I would like it better if there was some kind of ticket or card to print out.

GW 2 is not designed to be a sub pay game. There are catches though out the game that put the player in the position where it would be more comfortable to buy things here and there. No one is forced to but its a lot more work or just the feeling of bleh with out out paying for a bit of stuff here and there. More than reasonable as its a sub free game after all and the companies bills need to be paid.
The down side from my own experiences is that I end up paying 2 to 3 times more per month for odds and ends in this game than a sub fee. Not only that but it takes away one reason for people to socialize, that being getting along better to accomplish more and get things you need. Personally I think when I leave GW2 and all its glorious beauty, I will return to pay to play via sub fee. For me there are certain things that attracted me to the MMORPG genre in the first place that simply are no longer true if one’s worth in the game is bought and paid for. As stated before also , the so called free to play is getting pretty pricey for me too. I honestly don’t think the game system could be converted as it stands though, there are too many things that seem to be designed to encourage buying stuff. This will be my last FTP.
Still I enjoy the look and feel enough to bide my time in GW2 till I find my new game.

Hi, I’m 56 yrs old and female, been playing mmos since 2001[ Everquest 1 and many other mmos after ] looking for a casual friendly guild to play with. Not new to GW2 but have spent most of my time soloing. I was in a very large mature gaming community but as I tend to be rather shy I kind of got lost in it. I’m hoping to find a more modest sized guild or organization of people who play together often or at least enjoy each others company. Prefer guilds that are fare, open minded and do not support abusive attitudes toward female players [or anyone else].

In the case of this game the path of least resistance has a huge gap between paths of more resistance, mainly due to aggressive spawn rates. This is one game where I have to say the responsibility for the faulty game play is more on the developers. It almost feels like they don’t want you to be in higher level zones. In response players are getting really good at leap frogging over each other and ignoring anyone who needs help when they are in them.
That being said most people I think are still going to choose the path of least resistance for dailies [lower level zones] as there is very little medium ground in GW2.

So only one letter? I uh … misplaced mine and have no idea what it said. My alts apparently were not on the mailing list.
I agree with this , please consider a duel trait build mechanism.
The game was just not designed for a sub fee. I think it would take too many potentially disruptive changes at this point.
I agree with the OP. Bring it! /whistle
Something I thought might have been addressed since the beta was released.
Since I’ve been playing I’ve been frustrated time and time again when I’ve had to fight close quaters near a cliff or edge and the enemy uses a knock back blow and I have pushed over the edge and had start that run all over again.
Now I understand that Dev’s Can’t make the game a complete walk in the park for a player, but come on even the playing field a little, if I can be knocked off a cliff by a Npc, why should I not be able to knock a a npc off a cliff as well???
Yes I have the same experiences as the poster quoted here and a lot. A lot of GW2 geography is made up of high spots that take long and tricky treks to get to including fast re-spawing mobs. I don’t want to exploit the mobs but they sure have been given a lot of ability to exploit their surroundings and give a player a really bad day.
Yea I get bronze for DEs I didn’t even know were happening just by running though. I suppose I’m killing random mobs in my way that are included but most of the time I see no sign giving me a clue.
“some of you are disappointed”
That would be an understatement of global proportions.
I think some copies of pets were spread around after launch making them more available. Perhaps that was not such a good idea.
Or at least let us customize the amount of gems we want to buy. Per one remark here I think I will be looking at sub game again also. Spending so much more per month like this.
Yes the ground target thing is really a bummer. When I was in the pre-order beta I actually reported it as a bug because it felt like one. AE around a target would be so much better! With the AE being ether placed on the ground [eats up time and often target moves before your done] or auto placed via where your mouse is pointing [making hot bar click impossible unless you like being the target area], it makes the game look like its designed for fancy multi button peripherals for people who use mouse look as an invisible target marker only.
Bleh! So yes target as AE marker for these would be simply awesome!
What always makes me tired in a game is what I call the brick wall. Your flowing along nicely getting stuff done feeding the natural human need to accomplish things and then wham you find a place you can not get beyond. So you have a group of friends that are pretty much on call and synchronized to your mind set, or under your mind control spell, or you stop there and go start something else. I really really hate the brick wall. I need to feel some kind of closure to a day of game play, some kind of accomplishment.
Perhaps it should take more than one player doing solo-able stuff to trigger champions? I can understand maybe one or two being up at any given time simply due to zone timing but I often see almost or all of them up at once and crossing over each others paths. I loved the open group thing and still do when it works but the players are just not out there most of the time anymore. Perhaps because the dungeons and getting gear has turned into WoW clone style?
So many things I love in the look and feel of GW2 but this is something I just cant get past. Several promising IPs coming up this year, expect to hear the sound of a bath tub drain when they do unless something significant changes. /sadface
Ether polish them up for better behavior or reduce the timers IMO.
Was the QA group using normal mouse and keyboards?
I hate to tell ya this but they often are 15s or less outside of events. Sometimes instantly. At any rate rapid re spawns is one of the reasons open areas are so unpopulated [that and overlapping boss mob events]. We don’t really love getting mowed over all the time.
I kind of thought that the actress/actor that did the Sylvari voice overs were using their own native accents. -_-
I also think that if some people were not complaining that some cultural accents were too like their own [or someone else s] they would be complaining that they were all to American sounding. I like the Sylvari accent best of all the others.
I can actually hear something like that in the bank area of DR. Sounds like some lady is having a really good time. Like the When Hairy Met Sally over the salad kind of good time. Might sound more like a yawn if it were not being repeated so often.
Yea I would watch behavior for a while before assuming repeated action players are bots. Also I have seen people in map chats bragging about how they report people and I have to wonder if they are really taking the time to be sure, especially if they are getting the kind of ego boost that they sound like when bragging.
I would have to say that out of all the gift boxes I got from the merchant all I got was a few of the same thing I payed for them. That’s a bit more than random , its more like a shell game where you have almost no chance to win. Yea I felt ripped off cause it was from a merchant with no indication of it being a gamble other than by loosing a lot. Now if it had been on a festive slot machine I wouldn’t mind cause then there would be some indication of what I was getting into.
My giant WDGs [and all other sizes] consisted of socks, hats and sweaters with a few snow flake types and a few less recipes for tonic like recipes .
Bleh!
I got two stacks of stuffing and only one glue cause I didn’t get to complete the Toxx event in all the towns. We were promised we could make up for what we missed once he got to LA and then they drop recipe parts. Grrrr!
It took me days early on to do it but there were more players then. With people just going in and out like revolving doors it wasn’t much fun. They never even said hello.
responding to the OP and original direction of the post
It seems to me what is happening is that events are flipping over to their end stage event too quickly, too easily and too often. I rarely enter a post 25 area anymore with out finding my self dodging multiple horned icons on the map [often 3 or 4 in an area small enough for them to all appear on the map simultaneously] It may be that a person or two is able to get the events to that point and then of course not able to handle the boss but I come across them in full swing and more often than not unchallenged and in zones with very few players.
What happened to the responsiveness of the zone that used to react to local player population I saw in prepurchase beta? It seems to me that more people are tripping into things and starting events they can not handle, though in recent month or so I have seen back to back events with bosses sometimes overlapping each others roaming area and sometimes up for days as if the timers of the events were just unplugged.
At any rate I really loved this game but pretty as it is my eye is already roaming and only because the PVE is currently a freaky mess IMO. Ive been taking some map screen shots. Maybe a montage of horned icons devouring the map, wait are we playing pac man?

Thanks for the guide, many of us do need help with choices as the game it self isn’t always clear in terms of play direction.
Auto targeting has been messed up from way back in beta. I am beginning to think its an intelligent botch up though cause most of the time it targets the target that is the most far away rather than anything close as in opposite from what it should be doing.
I didn’t like the no pre-group for toypoc ether. People are just abandoning their group when they get what they want and then your left with who ever gets thrown in with you pretty much working just like a revolving door of players.
I managed to make one pet before the change, now i have two sets of stuffing, no glue and two pet frames. I cant find the glue anywhere. Its very frustrating, I have bank full of stuff from working this and no way to find glue. I really don’t get what the point is in having the parts just disappear like this.
There should be a plushy of every member Destinies Edge not just one. It just kind of feels like there was an original plan to make the whole team and then the money got rerouted elsewhere.
Both offers will likely be taken down after some time just like the other hats. Will be rather exclusive then.
I agree the higher undead zones are almost impossible to navigate in the current state. I just don’t see the people that the zone is acting like are there. Its like its been put into overdrive and just left there. In per-purchase beta the game was responding at one time to local player population and it doesn’t seem to be working properly now.
“That’s impressive but I really don’t know where you’re getting that from”
/Hides crystal orb of perception
I think he is saying that pushing the game to move things along faster and not making the whole game run smoother is not a good idea.
Forgive me if I got that wrong.
Beautiful work on the clothing it was very well done.
I tried it once and gave up. /shrug I’m casual and old, figured it wasn’t worth a cerebral hemorrhage.
/shrug all I got was a bunch of people knocking me down with snowballs and then got kicked out.
Well spring is coming up how about some pagan like rights of spring with the Norn? Maybe something with the Jackalope spirit
I have no problem letting the Asura make our toys, I mean its toy making for goodness sake. I cant think of a better race for it.
Just IMO but given that toy making seems to me kind of a trinket making thing, I feel the Asura are the only race really dedicated enough to manufacturing other than the Charr. And well the Charr version might be more lethal and blow up in smoke more often.
In a guild I was in until this week I saw people bragging that they got as many as 3 of them though various means. I don’t resent them but its a good idea not to make this a habit. Also the deal with the chest morphing according to the level of the character that opens the chest is really bad. I heard many people sadly say they didn’t realize that it would happen until it was too late when they got excited and opened the chest on lower level toons.
You may have to just try some odd hours and you have to keep looking rather than just check once as the server status for this game changes often and sometimes quickly. My husband and I had the same problem and we just had to be stubborn and quick. When we have managed it the window to get in was often only a few minutes at a time. G’luck.
I think the armors are put together very well but there is a lack of variety in style. Especially in leather, my ranger is sad.
I have to wonder if the people who put the game together and made all those encouraging statements are even still working at Anet.
Its getting rather hard to solo. Its like the game is trying to push some of us out for not being part of some big organization. Whats odd is the more we complain about it the worse it seems to get. Its like the game is on steroids sometimes and I have to wonder if somebody is actually trying to push people out of the game. I went back to a newbie zone to get a SP that was camped a week ago by a champ, its still there. but not enough players are there to care to do anything about it.
I was in the pre order beta, it was not like this back then.
You may have to try some odd hours. When my husband followed me to a normally full server [this took him days to finally get it], he finally got in though a small window that literally only lasted a few moments and this was early morning mid week before he had to head out to work.
Yup this kind of thing is my number one complaint at the moment but not just way points but champions hanging around for days , events rolling out so fast they are on top of each other , ect.
Some of the zones are acting like they are on steroids and I’m tempted to ask who let the gremlins in to run the game?
Just IMHO:
Seems to me its about community pressure and the you cant come if you don’t have this or that kind of thing. Vet mmo players have seen it in many games and you could say that the peer pressure is the old habit that wont go away. Players respond to rewards, that’s the foundation of the addiction. Extend the carrot on the stick too far out and it creates glass walls between people that keep them apart and makes some desperate.
