In its current state GW2 is only partially solo-able in open areas. Even in teir 1 zones there are champions that are sitting on skill points and points of interest that for some reason are no longer de-spawning, even after days. This means that people who are new or have rerolled can not catch up with out help. Get into higher zones like Malchor’s Leap and its like your in a dungeon [actually worse due to hyper fast re-spawns] only on the outside. People are leap frogging over each other to get past this kind of content, I haven’t seen many stopping to offer any help or work with people they come across anymore because doing so will cost you in deaths. There are various forms of air assault that often can not be seen from your location and these catapults and such re-spawn way too fast to consider bothering trying to take them down. One skill pint in the example zone is in an area that has unknown source assaults in the form of slow and a rather quick damage over time that is rather devastating , you cant see a source for it and spreads over a huge area in land and water so basically there is no escape. What I have seen some do is wait for some poor player to get hit by it and then go in and get the skill point. How nice!
Anet … what are you thinking? Its such a beautiful game and the open areas are emptying out of players that might normally be spending time there due to this kind of thing. Its like the game still thinks there are zerg groups all over the place and is stuck in responding to large amounts of players that are no longer there.
I’m on a NA server and getting the same problem but only with Lion’s Arch. I managed to get my main character in Lion’s Arch to log in after I logged a character that was somewhere else but when I tried to leave Lion’s Arch got the same disconnect error message. I think Lion’s Arch does have a problem, not saying its the only problem, but it seems to be about connecting or reconnecting to the server via zoning or other things have have you pass though the technical void.

In my org there is a debate going on concerning the grind state of a game that was promised not to be a grind[see the GW2 manifesto vid]. Some are claiming that people are just assuming they need this grind for gear and that it doesn’t make much of a difference. I do not see a lot of evidence to support this claim though. If there is official clarification I have not seen it. I do know this, at lvl 80 in rare gear upper levels outside areas are difficult at best.
What appears to be happening in the opinion of some is that GW2 has become the same old grind , only prettier and harder than the old games we left to come here.
I don’t want to grind for gear, I don’t want to feel like I’m being forced to submit to the whims of a zerg team to survive, and I sure don’t want to be leap frogged over, trained and abandoned by other players trying to get around content that is so annoying that they don’t want to deal with it ether.
Just some input on why some may not be playing.

On my ranger I had to use both bow weapons swapping and go though most of both hot bars twice, use a pet the prot and heals to finally get down …. one of the young ones.
Also the zone is trapped. I have never falling into more trap spots that I could not get out of. Big frustration factor.
I just spent over an hour looking for her. Thanks for posting.
On Yak’s Bend some overflows did not get the event.
Yak’s Bend non-overflow. Boss stayed near the rock wall and would not advance even when most people backed off to try to get it to move. It would reset repeatedly like others have said.
I really dislike the idea of endgame. I want them to improve the whole game. I think there are too many ways for people to skip content and blow by [give them that and many do]. I’m out there being overrun by 10 second re-spawns and over lapping events and hardly any players out there anymore. I don’t know make them loop back for new content maybe but do something its getting ridiculous.
For about 4 years now I have been in a gaming org that is rather large, but my husband and I wanted to check out one of the RP servers at start up so we started on a different server than they did. A week ago I decided to move back to the org’s server with a lower population and suddenly like a day after it was full. For 4 days including today at all hours we have been checking to try and get my husband over with me but its not working. Is there any relief in sight for constantly full servers?
Its rather difficult at times and tedious to do maps on zones now. The mobs are not adjusting it seems to lower player count and if alone I find my self over whelmed sometimes with mass zergs of mobs. Would be fine if other people were there but I only see a few in a zone now and not many people are bothering to rez or help anymore ether.
You can take the player out of the zerg to best gear and highest levels game but its going to take more than what I have seen so far to get those kinds of game mentalities out of the player. Was great fun at start up, getting kind of sad now.
How ’bout an NPC that teaches a dance of every race and have that cost a set amount of gems to teach it to you?
Anyone agree with this idea?
That would be great. I really don’t like the Norn dance much.
I gave up on the clock tower. I think my blood pressure went up 20 points while trying it. It was enough with out the rising goo. It rose very fast the many times I tried it. I saw lots of people trying it over and over and over … That’s a carrot on a pretty long stick.
The idea is fun but you have to be too fast with the rising goo. On my screen I had 2 seconds or less between jumps and I don’t lag a lot normally. Will likely be the only thing not finished so yea not a feel good to walk away from.
Fun idea, I approve
There are gaming organizations that offer community for multiple games and these tend to be very large. The current guild system in GW2 is too simple on a number of levels but the cap with no alliance interaction/chat is a very important one that needs to be addressed. Its my hope that this may be something to look forward to when they get the server visit system put in and I hope it wont be too long.
It makes for some very sad feelings among long time communities at the moment.
:(
A refund system on the npc or even all karma npcs would be a good idea. Heartbreak due to accidents is very frustrating.
It needs an appropriate place for people to duel. Already Ive seen people pretending to do it at the bank, trading places and major zone ins in cities.
I have a lot of problems with my cursor disappearing during combat off and on and I don’t use fast ground targeting.
I use the word “wow” a lot and not in reference to a game.
It would be a good idea to add the name. I have stuff in my personal bank that is bound to alts and I don’t know which one.
55 here and love the game though a few things here and there feel or look not quite finished. Not a-typical of a new game though. My daughter is 35 and my husband also plays.
Yup the targeting system has a lot of issues and has from beta. Some players try to say its similar to Tera and their targeting system but its only similar in that you can waste your cool downs on thin air as you don’t need a target to use abilities. Auto target often picks things not even close to your last target or even targets that are way out of range and then there is the auto fire or channeled ability issue where you get to run around like a fool unable to stop firing. At some point the shiny new will ware off and this will become a popular joke.
Now if some people are using macros for multi purpose on single keystroke they might overcome this with tab and then an attack, but they are not supposed to be doing that. Otherwise I suppose a fancy mouse or keypad with very close buttons configured to help with target selection, or long fingers and nice dexterity, but I would hate to think leaving targeting issues using ordinary mouse and keyboard would be ignored.
/shrug Maybe its a dps throttler by trying to get people to use up seconds on the tab key. I don’t know but it makes the combat system feel clunky rather than smooth and responsive. I will hope that fixes are in the works though , its still very early.
My gaming org that is very large and has been forced to use multiple guilds has a big problem with this. We know there is some long term inactivity but cant nail it down. Its very sad what more people could be playing together but are being separated by maxed out member numbers of people who are no longer there.
Please let us see last online and by account.
I would love a duel trait system but I think it should come late in level.
They said they were not even considering race change so Ill go out on a limb here and say don’t hold your breath for class morph.
starting post sounds like an expanded version of I want the game to have a grind, please place large carrots on a stick so everyone else will grind too.
My only problem with the game is that players are still trying to play snatch and grab instead of learning the game rewards cooperation.
The color code the OP is suggesting is pretty much what I have seen in older games [even the same colors]. Given other color coding differences in GW2 I have to wonder if Anet wants to go there. Also wouldn’t it be an invitation to green camping and then people just not participating until they were red?
I received a copper from an in game spammer once. It made it impossible to delete the mail until I took the copper. Then I felt dirty for taking it. Its odd but it seems I get the most in game RMT promo mails right after a new update.
Right now the guilds sub forum is like a giant bowl filled with all kinds of guild post. If your looking for specifics in a guild its very exhausting just going though them all. I have tried using search in the sub forum, but for some odd reason terms I look for are showing up with nothing found even if a week or two ago I saw them in post. It would be great if some sorting via perspective, age range, location, etc. were available. It could be maybe a set of selections an OP would have to go though when they make a post advertising a guild.
Guildwars 2 is in danger if arenanet doesn't act on their endgame while they still can

Sounds like the OP wants the gear grind [sometimes called “progression”], problem is it would fly in the face of many promises Anet made about the game being different before launch.
The re-spawn rate is often ridiculous IMO and I often see insta re-spawns at location of death and that just makes the game look buggy. With summoned common mobs scattered around the world there really is no need to create a Frogger effect out in the field. At the moment many people are overcoming odds by simply following other players to get to what they need. It creates a zerg growing and then zerg poof effect that often leaves players stuck with no support in bad places.
I would like to see a comprehensive guild recruit or search for a guild tool similar to the one in Everquest 2.
Its too bad they are not considering it. I was really hoping it would be included in an extra fancy make over or some such. Guess I better start my re-roles now then. I honestly don’t understand why anything that helps players feel good about their game options would not be seen as good for the game in the long run. As ALL professions are available to ALL races I cant see a real argument against it ether.
Weapon swap would not OP elementalist. The way the different sets are set up they really limit elementalist right now as just changing elements does not make up for some situations. As mentioned it really does make you feel trapped by weapon limits.
I like the whole animal spirit thing, also tattoos and the best hair selection for female toons IMO.
I cant do any serious jumping on my Norn and its my favorite character. It feels like her legs are weighted down. Now I do have the smallest size Norn so I wonder if what ever compensation there is for their leg length left my smaller Norn with lack luster jumping skills. It often leaves me very sad falling to death while everyone around me of other races sales by.
IMHO the Norn dance stinks, that is all. It is absolutely the Carlton Banks dance from Fresh Prince of Bellaire. Its funny if you don’t mind being a joke all the time. I have hopes that there will be alternatives in the future.
One of my earliest guilds in another game many years ago was all female and we had a great time. I’m on TC also but just running a guild for my family [ 3 people lol ]. My problem is I’m not only female but old
.
My husband and I have some story quest that wont let us join in with each other. /sad face. [Stealing Secrets and Down the Hatch]
edit: seems to not be about order choice being the same but seems to be the quest line it self [tested], I tried on another character and still cant get into his story instance. Have no problem with other ones so I think its the story line after one chooses the order of whisper that is bugged. These are not story quest with out combat so I think they should be sharable.

I have a similar problem this morning and posted concerns about this possibility earlier. I have an @ncsoft email user name. Its not a real email addy, but I cant change it cause my actual email addy is already in use by my same and only account , its just not the user name. [already in use error]
Please guys before forcing email validation of username emails make sure you deal with this. The only way I can see to fix this is to go to my ISP and request an entirely new email address. If what others are saying about changing emails not working properly then that wont work ether.
So yea as of today can not log in because of email verify blocking it.
I have one of those ncsoft usernames and have my own email that was before launch attached to the account. I get emails and have no problems but with all the security chatter I worried about new security measures and verifying email. So I tried to verify my actual email but because my username is not an actual email and thus wont work, the interface wants to me to change it. I tried to change it to my actual email but as its already attached to my account internally, it just tells me that I cant validate that email as its already in use [by me] .
Way back there was a twitter post telling people with this problem they can just ignore the request the launcher makes to verify email so I have but like I said with potential newer security measures, I worry I may fall though a crack in the system and get stuck.
There is an old record by the Romans in pre BC days, though historians tend to embellish so who knows. An early contact with clannish types of the European mountain regions had Romans asking the invading hoard leaders by what right was their invasion. The leader simply replied "By right of our arms for to the brave all things belong. " and then killed the Roman emissary and his guards. Don’t ask me the book name its been too long, but I have wondered if something like this is behind the saying, especially if the Norn have a semblance to old Viking style thinking
The philosophy type query of might makes right vs might for right lingers in my head also so yea it makes be a little uncomfortable too.
There are a few NPCs that seem to be stuck in a short fast loop. I would consider them bugged my self though.
Please … I really need to make some corrections and re-rolling makes people sad.
Honestly I would be happier with fewer way points and a single bind point, not Lion’s Arch in the world where I could travel for free. Also travel issues are beginning to cause Lions Arch to over populate because of the Asura gates.
Just so you don’t feel so bad I accidentally bet with a Charr NPC and lost most of my silver one night in one bet. Be very careful when NPCs mention money in their dialog.
I have the same issue recent two weeks off and on and though we pay $$ for high speed Comcast most of the time I blame them. The weird thing today is that my connection is ok until I connect to the game and then I get the drop. I checked my firewall and its open for GW2 so I have to wonder if Comcast is using packet disruption for high use mmo games such as this one, as online gaming is listed on their high use customer profile. At any rate I hope it clears up , talking to Comcast is like trying to chew a brick wall, their CSRs last couple of years are rather slow mentally and tend to just read from scripts and know nothing else.
So yes also having a connectivity issue, getting about 5-10 minutes worth of play at a time.
