They should of made better variety and have different pigs have different f2’s Such as:
I’d rather the warthog have charge. The pig should have a mud roll ability where they can evade attacks. Maybe even a squeel to stun the enemy.
The Pigsi will have to say that pigs are the most useless pet, the forage ability is “neat” but in a movement oriented game the pig may drop something for me but i have moved way to far to grab it or what not, id prefer an attack or a buff thats useful
Actually, each porcine pet’s Forage is unique in that it has a different set of items it digs up. Pigs give you healing or invulverability, warthogs give you poison clouds, boar gives you control items, siamoth gives you boons or stealth. Those are all amazing, especially if used in melee. Forage is something different from every other pet & I like it.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Jaguar’s stealth ensures a almost guaranteed crit….its good for burst damage..its actually quite good.
I would say the pigs and their F2
I love my pigs. They’re quite hearty and in melee give some awesome items.
Most worthless: Blue Moa (dopey looking too)
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
For PvE, full melee is definitely viable. Sword/Torch is a great combo with lotsa evasion. Use a porcine pet for their F2 Forage and you can get some nice items to augment your fight (heals, combo fields, etc). Hopefully, the 11/15 patch will boost GS damage and fix the sword root issue. (…and our bows…)
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Because I have no idea what I’m doing. I run into a zerg or there’s a base I gotta help defend and its so chaotic that it’s nothing but AOE spam-fests. It’s not much fun..so what am I missing?
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
but it only had a lvl 20 cap. different dynamic because of such a low cap. also, each expac had new professions and 1-20 zones. i’d be ok tho with no cap increase. so long as there’s a lot of content to justify it.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Staff’s Wave needs a longer range. Empower is fine as is. 12 stacks of Might for all party & big aoe heal at end. Orb is clunky; def should explode on hit unless detonated beforehand. I like the idea of being able to heal somewhere other than at my target if I want to, but it should always detonate when it hits my target.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Some things to change:
- try a new profession. Maybe you just don’t like Ele
- join a different guild. You can have up to 3 guilds. It took me a while to find a good one that’s active, all levels, and chatty. Go to Lion’s Arch and look for one there.
- switch servers. Some are more populated, some tend to be very WvW active, which means they aren’t PvE active.
- try PvP & WvW. it could be the thing that helps you make in-game friends and alleviate that feeling of being alone in Tyria.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Oddly, these are the 3 professions I’m currently playing and having a ton of fun with as well. Mine are 53 Ranger, 46 Necro, 24 Guardian. Have been having a tough time deciding which my “main” is too, but I have a feeling it’s going to be a play all 3 as the mood strikes me kinda thing. I like to keep it fresh so I’ll play one class for 2 weeks, then another, then another. I’ll prob be back here in a month asking about Engineers lol.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Here’s the break down:
-stacking MF will reduce your other stats
-without MF in a previous run, maybe that party member wouldn’t even have that awesome exotic chest piece.
-this game is not about min/maxing
-optimize yourself if you want, don’t exclude others by gear/stat inspection
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
It is fairly clear that PvP in gw2 was kind of an afterthought, so we just got lumbered with the very boring and repetitive PvP we have now.
Pretty sure Anet spent a lot of time on WvW, which is a type of PvP play. To say that PvP is an after thought because your prefered style isn’t adequately represented is unfair. Game launched with 3 kinds of PvP play. And they’re working on more now.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I’d like to be able to see my own Magic Find %, but I don’t want to be able to view other players’. Why would that be helpful? Each player gets their own loot table.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I recenetly maxed my cooking for some fast & inexpensive XP. That was my primary goal. However, I now have a mxed craft so I should take advantage of it. I have fun playing in the discovery pane. And obviously I can eat/use the food for leveling gains and share with my guild but…
Is there anything I can make that actually sells on the TP? Seems like all the completed food is listed for 1c.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Try 0/30/0/10/30 with Sword/Torch for constant burning damage, fast attacks and a lot of VoJ. You’ll be able to keep burning, blind, retaliation, and vulnerability up a lot. Those will augment your straight damage as well as increase survivability using lotsa blinds. Off hand set could have focus for another blind skill and added survivability.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Had a Sylvari, deleted him cuz they look so flaky even at their biggesst & wearing plate armor. Decided on Human because they look great in the heavy armor & the T2 & T3 cultural are great! (Almost went Norn cuz..they’re friggin huge!!!)
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Huh…I’ll have to peek inside that. thx.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Professions that can effectively melee & range: warrior, thief, ranger
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
As someone who has played 2hrs of WvW and 1 PvP match…what’s a PvP locker?
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
So far most of the opinions have been about whether snowy landscapes or gritty wastelands is more visually appealing. What about gameplay? More interesting DEs, hearts, variety of enemy type, dialogue…?
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
It’s very easy to blow thru content without ever knowing it was there. I’d say pay attention to NPCs like Kindeller mentioned and follow dynamic event chains. Some areas are more alive than others.
If you want chat, go into your main city & thru the asura gate to lions arch. That’s the main gathering hub and you can find a guild to join that’s active and chatty.
Also, since you’re low level, a lot of your personal abilities aren’t yet unlocked. Warriors have a lot of weapon skills to learn so unlock them and figure out fun synergies with the utilities you’ll slowly unlock. By the time you hit 20 you’ll have 3 utility slots open and 10 points into a trait line. These things give flavor to playstyle.
Crafting can be picked up in a major city (u can learnthem all but only 2 active at a time) and you can do all the gathering. Get a mining pick, axe, and sickel.
Try out PvP and WvW if you want something very different to do too.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
From just a cursory glance, it seems like the Norn areas are much more expansive than the Charr. I think I’ll do Charr 1-20 and then move to Norn thereafter. That should provide me with a large variety of new zones yes?
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Probably, if you have also played the game with alts and have gathered mats in your bank to use too. Cooking can be done for like 1.5g, others can be mad pricey especially at high levels.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I just rolled yet another alt and I’m tired of the human/sylvari/asura areas for questing. So which do you find more fun: the Charr or Norn areas for questing?
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Professions focus their support style differently. Guardian are great at damage mitigation, healing, and spreading offensive & defensive boons. Necros are great at condition manipulation and healing. Rangers are great at offensive boons and combo fields. Eles are super at combo field creation.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I just rolled yet another alt ankittenired of the human/sylvari/asura areas for questing. So which do you find more fun: the Charr or Norn areas for questing?
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Also, the recipes in your list should be in level order. So you’ll have to just find the spot where you can use the items you can craft and then just go from there.
…I hope that made sense…
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Admittedly, I used a crafting booster, but i went from lvl 2 to 18 with cooking 0-400. I wanted to maximize levels gained with cooking which is why i started immediately at lvl 2.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
The npc venders were removed. You can try the TP though as most of the recipes also dropped from various chests and trick or treat bags.
that was not his question. I’d be interested to know the answer as well.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I agree with the OP. I just maxed my cooking and I’m stuck with all this food that I can’t use yet or just don’t want. Every other craft lets me at least vend my extra pairs of britches for some copper to recoup costs…I don’t understand why cooking doesn’t.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I don’t think Anet added this feature because down-leveling exists so there’s no risk of overleveling a zone or dungeon from crafting. And all PvP up-scales you to 80 so there are no level brackets.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
You compared Guarian utilities to Thief weapon mechanics. All professions, even Thieves rely on cooldowns for their utilities. They can only spam their skills so many times before they’re outa initiative. After that, they’re blown. Guardian probably have the best overall set of utilities in GW2 and (potentially) longer CDs are the price we pay to have a lot of flavorful, useful skills. Also, we have 3 virtues that can be traited to have extremely fast CDs that we can deal dmg, heal, and mitigate with. Party wide. I’m never lacking for buttons to push.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
No. The entire rest of the game is solo-able. Your personal story is your own perpetual solo story dungeon. Can we have something in an MMO that requires MMO play?
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I don’t know if there are levels of damaged or if it’s just perfect, damaged, broken…but it takes a long time for damaged armor to become broken. I let all my armor stay damaged until something finally broke just to get the hint achievement and it took at least 5+ deaths without repair to break something. I don’t think you need to repair everytime you die. Also, have you gotten zero repair canisters from the BLCs? I’ve never bought a single key but I have probably 8-10 repair canisters in my bank waiting for use at 80.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
ugh…plants don’t need nipples. they emerge full grown, not suckling newborns. and they don’t lactate…cuz they’re plants. and plants have reproductive organs…it’s how they reproduce. they’re just not exactly like mammals’.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Guardian (protect all life), Ranger (one with nature), Thief (lithe & dextrous, like Caithe), Necro (curious about life/death).
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I agree. While the Grove is tiny, it’s beautiful and condensed so that there’s no wasted space or needless running about. Divinity’s Reach is huge and a pain to discover all of it, but it’s beautiful and the important stuff is all together in the middle. Rata is a bit confusing at first but easily accessible and, while not to DR or Grove’s level of beautiful, still cool. Even the Black Citadel (which I haven’t spent much time in) is impressive, if complex and massive.
And then there’s Hoelbrek….covered in snow…plain…barren…spread out……I really hope (like BowmasterSol mentioned) that they make Hoelbrek the center of Wintersday & do it up huge. The spirit of Rockafeller steals Jormag’s Tooth and replaces it with a massive holiday tree lol.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
In my experience most of the storyline quests are on par with difficulty. now, maybe it’s just me, but every time i’m up against Destroyers of Primordus in a storyline quest I get hemmed up. I’m never choosing to help the skritt again, they dig too deep and I get burned. Course, I didn’t have a choice with my sylvari…had to barter for a mirror…
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
i find some personal storylines to be quite engaging and others to be downright boring. human street rat story is awful. find my parents? random. but others like the asura are actually quite fun. and some sylvari stuff is pretty engaging, if it is a bit cheesy & sentimental.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
My human is rockin’ manly stubble. I would like to see more than 1 beard option tho for humans and I’d especially like it if the human beard actually matched the hair color. Norn can remain the master of the beard, but human need more than 1 option (the chin-strap is not a beard).
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
no no, i know what u mean. Google guild wars 2 forum and you don’t get the official forum link appearing at all. not like it used to. now it’s guildwars2forum.com or something and the gw2 main page below that. 2nd….
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Using existing weapons, at first I was going to suggest adding axe as a ranged weapon (like the Ranger). I was going to say a slow, powerful attack throw (ranged equivelant to our hammer) rather than speedy like the Ranger, but slow is the biggest problem with our scepters so…dunno.
I could see Guardians using rifles. Not enough professions do right now so I think it’d be the perfect one to add. Would give us range and a hard hitting attack with some magically infused bullets.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Completely agree with OP. I rolled a human Guardian instead of Asura only because the Asura weapons are miniscule and armor tough to see. Also, the limited choices on character creation for Asura is sad.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
it doesn’t.
<15 char limit>
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
The gameplay isn’t harder at 30 than it is at 20. But the prices of mats you gather at say 40-60 are higher than those you can gather at lvl 20. Low level mats are cheap because lots of people make alts and try new professions and of course, gather along the way cuz it’s easy XP. But 3rd tier ingredients aren’t always as cheap as 1st because fewer ppl are gathering them. Not to mention that this game isn’t about grinding for mats…it’s about having fun & what fun is it battling for nodes? The answer is “no fun”
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
First Guardian was Sylvari. The lore is great but I hate the look of sylvari in heavy armor and the cultural is crap imo. Just rerolled to human and already he looks the part. Our utilities are too good to use racials but the elites might benefit from Hounds and maybe even Melandru in full on support mode. Probably tome is better tho. Haven’t gotten that high yet.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
agree 100%. it’s sad for me because Asura have a great storyline and the best racial skills and yet their armor is goofy & weapons are miniscule.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Asura are the only race that can pull off “adorabloodthirsty”. I love killer rabbits! Nothing else like ’em.
Really, just look at her! You just wanna hug her. Even though she’ll probably tear your arm off and beat you up with it!
Best looking Asura I’ve seen. Wish I could copy your creation screen data and add my own subtle tweaks.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Made my Asura as tall as possible so I could see myself. If I’m going to spend money on armor I wanna see it.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I’m glad this thread started because I have an old Sylvari Guardian that I shelved way back & have been thinking about rerolling. Asura have great racial skills but they’re so tiny…they look fun & their stories are interesting but I want to be able to see my armor and I want my hammer & GS to look intimidating. Not like I’m about to dig into some lobster for dinner.
Sylvari I think don’t really look god in the heavy armor but their stories are so good. Humans look great but the story is the worst of all the races imo. Char have great racials too but they just look awful! And Norn are a solid choice but I don’t see me using any of their racial elites over the Guardian ones (am i wrong???).
So….I don’t know which race to roll still
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I love it. Looks great overlaying shields and adds flair to big 2h weapons like GS & hammer.
