I want to be happy about HoT and the base game, and in many cases I am. But I am a Thief PvP player and right now all I see is :C :C :C in my eyes. Made me salty. Honestly think Anet does a good job in general, I just wish they’d not just forgotten we existed on June 23rd and on DD info release. And that they’d stop nerfing us every single patch :C :C :C

2)Most of the Thief players (myself included) would prefer Palm Strike coming first and not second, which means we could land the entire Fist Flurry.
3) I’m still baffled as to why most Thieves are reluctant on this when Mesmers got Illusionary Persona.
4) It does matter because then Anet might do what they did to steal and try to stealth nerf it or will pull an Ankle Shots “well uh hurr durr, its not intended so we took it off”.

7) I don’t use the skill because it BARELY works. I use it in my pistol build for the 1200 range knockdown and passive cc reflector negation (throw wire, dodge back).

I don’t think the Dev’s truly read the forums. Much as this is a handy post, odds are low you will make an impact much less get a read/response. I hate to be that person to crush your hopes, but it has to be said. I wish you luck, I’m waiting for Thief to be viable. It died around half a year ago.

I’ve only ever played Thief. =/ I play Necro/Reaper too but I have far more time and experience invested on my Thief.
Looking forward to doing my pvp daily. I really do. But Anet has obviously forsaken us. I wish everyone luck, I’ma be joining the node farm all the maps club. Getting booted from teams is not fun =(

“Flux”. Thief was BARELY usable, then died altogether. We got called Shortbow 5 often. Now its “can you please swap? I’d like to win this ranked match.”. I left a guild because they said they refused to pvp with me because I played Thief.
I know Warrior was with it before HoT then died flat out. I’m not sure how you guys are doing, but on Thief side I got booted.
Can’t kick a rock without finding a Revenant these days. I’m safe from Mesmers…for now…. I think a Bunker/Heal Mesmer+Condi Rev on point A+B with a roaming fifth will make an invincible comp. You can’t kick em off the point, the two classes are just indestructible. But its k, Nerf thief.

I will probably necro this more and more as I figure it out more and more. I really want Bolt…like I am jonesing soooo hard. Only got 50g, but I made that in 2 days with 4 hours of play between them. Logged in today after 5 hours of work, I have “Funds 6(gold)42(silver)65(copper)” and all I did before my shift for two hours was hit some Cursed Shores. Even leader’d myself. Btw, vials of powerful blood is rising again- some new recipe release that needs it? Only noticed because I crafted my runes of evasion and noticed 60 silver…

I play condi bunker mes. Burn on block, blind on block/evade, confusion on block/evade/blind. Yaaaay. It totally is much harder to play than my Thief, makes me feel mad skilled to be invulnerable and kill things in the meantime… Nerf Thief, amirite?
This is mostly for people who say “XYZ 2 expensive”. I understand that keeping items you need is good, but when you just want money to buy object A then thats what this is for.
Decided to continue this (as my personal adventure into figuring this out continues as well):
A good way to make money, so long as you have mild patience is to list absolutely EVERYTHING. Never sell instantly, list all your gear because someone will buy it eventually.
Another minor tip is sometimes people will make a buy order, then set a sell order right above it (like 1 copper) so people will list on it. If the difference is rather large and the sell order quantity is low- buy the sell order, relist it. Only do it maybe once or twice, not consistently.

Well of course not =P Abjured doesn’t lose against plebs like me. I’m saying short of a pro team, I can win. But unfortunately I’m emerald because I don’t play enough games, and when I win I lose pips. Siiiigh. Still upsetti about that.
What Disgrace said- UA seems to completely bug out in stealth so blinding powder+bound= no damage. Also it has a fairly decent animation so headshot it- if you have trouble spotting it, have a Revenant friend help you practice. If it remains a humongous problem get the Ambush Trap that spawns the extra Thief and drop it.
No but the skillfact says it is so. And I am very for mug critting or at least doing more damage as well as my idea for the new steal trait for Crit Strikes- mainly because Crit is the only line without a benefit for steal.
Signet’s have shorthanded burst, not sustained burst (crazy concept). I am capable of annihilating Revenants, Reapers, a few DH’s (I hate that daze so hard), most tempests, many other thieves, and so on. Trouble is from scrapper because 100% block uptime is 100% block uptime. Have to time Headshot for that Hammer 3, and 5. Have to steal into whirl or pistol whip. Have to run for my life from Hammer 4. Then wait it out via the blocks on the Wrench Kit thing, then some distance makers from Elixir so on so on. Siiiiiiiiiiiiigh. Still, 8/9 professions being nukable is a great booster to confidence ^.^
Had a funny moment I killed a Revenant in that Herald shield thingie with 4 pulm stacks. Trait procced and he just expired.
People focusing on PI and not Mug. Anyone notice that PI is bugged and does not restore endurance despite the Brawler’s Tenacity trait and it clearly stating “Physical”? No. Ok, I’ma move on.
Ossa creates a mass point blank aoe that takes a percentage of hp over time. Possibly largest. Also has highest defensive stats and a decently timed CC.
Nika provides short range perma stealth with blind on reveal. She has the single highest damage to one target and lowest defense. Best used to push with mobs (post-bug unsure, I never noticed with the bug) as archers will pop from stealth and blind guards making them come out far higher in hp and thus door damage.
Grymm is amazing for map pressure. If you want one to just nuke players with no care in the world, throw this guy. Knockdown, 10-15% hp damage (haven’t taken notes, but I always get terrified when I hear his voice), hits all enemy players.
My personal pick is Nika, I play Thief. For non cele builds, swap to Grymm. With cele or tankier, go Ossa. Its very straight forward. =)
I thought that way, then I went from yolo to 110%yolo. Result? If I choose to, I can win my matches. But when I win matches, I still lose pips. Made a post, called bullkitten, moved on. Can’t move up the ranked ladder when you win, can’t move up when you lose. GG?
They tried that. The 3 tank point bunker meta entailed. 1 person a point, fighting one person a point with no progress.
Though trait lines I agree with. I miss my 70 points, then my 14 points, and now I just got 3 lines (but I play thief so I have…1?).
You are only a bit behind the rest. Somedays I’m content (not happy, just okay) and somedays (yesterday) I’m livid. I play Thief btw.

The only way to get more damage outside of a rune swap is to drop Panic Strike for Revealed Training and dodge out of Black Powder while engaging. This could backfire though if they can just walk out of your Pistol Whip. Wouldn’t exactly recommend Assassin’s Signet but if it’s more damage you want that would add to it (I’d take Signet of Agility over Assassin’s).
Thanks. I realized a few days ago (beginning of league,ish) that I preferred nuking to dueling and that if I could kill someone faster than they could retaliate then I’d be fine in all bases. Might try that BP/V/F1 with RT over PS. Am worried about the walkout, maybe swapping my Palm Strike for Devourer Venom? I already have Impairing Daggers for the other root and Bandit’s Defense could be swapped as well, though it is my only stunbreak in case I have to react…
1) Unless someone stealth caps it by watching you leave and sprinting when you are gone.
2) Unless you know your team can handle the other 3 players and are thus holding 2 enemy players off point by your lonesome.
3) Unless you are a VERY good Thief and know you can cap the fight you are on, decap that, bounce into both the other fights etc etc.
4) Fully agree. Its like hunting season when a tertiary objective spawns. I usually get 20-30 points for my team murderizing people in that time.

7) Unless you are a full bunker and your team is about to party time the other 2 points. Then your lost 5 outweight your gained 10+.

9) Or create a build that you can play on a class you know extraordinarily well. My homemade builds work for me better than any meta I have tried. I have a curious playstyle.

I’m confused. Are you saying basically adding a mug-like ability that can crit? Either way I’m down for buffing Critical Strikes, it needs some love.
Like this (these numbers are with 2200 power):
Crossed Shadows- jab your 4 times in the blink of an eye and causing them to be more vulnerable for a brief time. If any of the jabs critically strike, they do 25% more damage.
Damage(4x): 600 {For reference mug is at 1,173}
Vulnerability(5 stacks per hit): 5 seconds
Each hit does 150 damage, inflicts 5 stacks of vulnerability, and can crit. I personally feel this might be a little weak, but I’m sure others will think it is too strong.
Thoughts on this swapping with Sundering Strikes?

That you can lose pips for winning. Which raises the question: why try to win a game that says you lose?
I made a decision to basically log in for daily and thats it. No motivation to play a game that timegates pvp players, kittens on my main class for kitten near half a year, then throws out a league system that consciously punishes players for being solo. I was having fun (when all my friends were on that are good enough at pvp that I lose to them on my thief. says something, right there) but thats kinda gone. Still gonna hit forums, but I’m just looking for something that is enjoyable now. =/ I might pve? Or I might just make a “thank you anet for your time, enjoy your game, see you in 2k16 when you see it didn’t work out and fixed at least one problem” kinda post. =/

Cuz people think they the best. I getcha. Had someone say I had low mmr despite beating him in both a hotjoin, meeting him in a ranked, and repeatedly destroying him 1v1. Am I missing a step? I beat him in unorganized team, organized team, and singular dueling. Said I had low mmr still, and that beating him up meant nothing because he had higher mmr than most players. Kek.

What I read is what my thoughts are (which means we all agree?):
Pulmonary should not crit.
Mug should crit.
I don’t use staff on my daredevil, hammer on my scrapper, or gs on my reaper. I get what you are saying but…I take the line for the traits at this point (though my chrono needs it less and less…)
Any chance you (pvp team) would be willing to discuss with us what you are plans are for each class? Both at core, and for specific elites? Where you want them to be? After all, 2k15 is almost gone and it seems like everything is outta whack. At least an idea of your plans going forward would be wonderful. I do know that people will more than likely be toxic, but after all calm discussions I expect they’d relax.

I’d prefer they gave Thief and Warrior a real June 23rd (remember what changed? I sure don’t. things MOVED but overall the classes were EXACTLY the same. meanwhile necro, mes, ele got MASSIVE buffs.) and likewise nerfed all elite specs outside of Chrono ,BErserker, and Daredevil. With exceptions of course, but do not nerf Bound (otherwise it will see 0 use) and do not nerf Lotus (again, 0 use). Gunflame should stay the same. Maybe drop the daze, but same. Chrono is block hell, but easy to fight.
I’d love to discuss with you guys, see where we agree.
I agree, I don’t want it deleted. I don’t want to see “And 6 of 10 contenders are running celestial amulets”. That’s not esports =( Not to me.
Off note- Vial of salt has exotic level stats (mayhaps lower?). Don’t make the ascended item, its the most literal version of gold sink available. Anet plz. I burn 60 gold and you thank me with a fake promise?

To be almost 30% better than either amulet? Ye. I’d say AT LEAST a 35 point drop on each stat. That’s stupid. Did you read me post?
It can be stronger as a generalist, but it shouldn’t outmatch specialist.
I made a post a while back, but to summarize-
3 stat amulets: 3000 accumulated points
4 stat amulets: 3220 accumulated points
Celestial amulet: 3920 accumulated points
Simple math dictates the power of Celestial. Its like starting a match with ascended gear. The obvious suggestion is to mediate all stats to 3220. 700 from 7 stats is 100 per stat, making celestial 460 per item instead of 560. 220 into each stat for 3 stats is roughly 73 points each meaning 1273, 973, 973. This may look odd, but it would even out the points.
