The problem is they keep adding jumping puzzles. You’d never really be complete.
Again, having them all completed just once will unlock the title, just like how it already works with Been There, Done That.
It’s not that hard to understand…
I assume Vayne means that if/when they bring in new JP’s you would have to complete it to be allowed to keep/use the title again.
They have this same problem in Runescape with their “questmaster” cape. Basically you get to use/show off that you have completed every quest in the game. However every time they bring in a new quest everybody has to do it to be able to wear said cape again. It’s a silly treadmill of sorts…
Right.
But.
It doesn’t work that way. We already have an achievement THAT ALREADY WORKS LIKE what the suggested jumping puzzle achievement does.
Doesn’t anybody know how “Been There, Done That” works? Seriously? Once you’ve unlocked it once, you keep it. Even after they add more points of interest. Even after they add more renown hearts. No matter what they add, the people that already have “Been There, Done That” keep it. It’s theirs permanently.
The Jumping Puzzle title achievement would work, hypothetically, the exact same way. It wouldn’t matter if more jumping puzzles were added. You’d still keep the title.
Seriously. People. Not that hard to understand.
But the problem there would be that it’d be much harder for newer players to get the title than older ones. Instead of doing, say, 30 JP’s for the title, you now have to do 60 JP’s.
Again, this is how it works with Been There, Done That, yet that achievement is still in the game. If you complete it now, you’ll have a handful more stuff to earn (they have added more PoIs and Hearts since launch…), yet it’s still available for people to earn. Yes, the later you get it, the more work you have to do, but that’s just how it is. It’s no reason to not have an achievement just because it would work that way. Especially since we already have a precedent.

I did WvW maps 99.9% solo. It was not 100% because I saw map chat pop up that they were headed to take a place I needed. I never once asked for help. It’s possible to do solo. It just takes a lot more patience to do so.
Unless you took down all the gates, defeated all the champions and capped the locations all on your own, I would argue that you didn’t do it solo. Your path had to be cleared by other players. I’m fine with that from a pvp perspective but, again, map completion is a personal reward. You shouldn’t need others to gain a personal reward.
It’s an MMO. By definition it’s a multiplayer game. You shouldn’t expect all aspects of the game to cater to solo players, heck you shouldn’t expect many aspects to. There will be things that require others to complete.
That said, they should add two new map completion achievements. Turn the current one into the achievements like the Meta tracking achievement for LS season 1. The two new ones should be PvE map exploration and WvW map exploration. And each should give a title. Mists Explorer for WvW and Cartographer for PvE maybe? With Been There, Done That for the ones who complete both as it is now.
The Gifts of Exploration come after both PvE and WvW ones are done (to not remove the only part of making a legendary that forces players to do more than pop into WvW to talk with a NPC).
That way players who do not wish to go into WvW don’t have to sit at 96% map completion. And WvW players who don’t feel like doing PvE map completion can at least get one map completion title. And have proof they have done it
I do REALLY like this idea.
I should say, I don’t really have much of an issue with the current system. I’m four Vistas and two PoI’s away from getting BT,DT (both in WvW). But, I understand it for what it is, a completely optional task.
However, I do think splitting it into two (or more) separate achievements makes a lot more sense. We already have “Explorer” achievements for every major area (Kryta, Ascalon, Maguuma, Shiverpeak, and Orr), so I can see this interlocking with those perfectly.
A title for completing all jumping puzzles wouldn’t be a problem. I mean, we already have something similar, “Been There, Done That”. It’s awarded for unlocking all waypoints, PoI’s, Vistas, and Hearts. But, ANet adds new hearts and PoI’s on a pretty regular basis.
Yet, people who have that title don’t have to go and unlock every single new thing added to retain it, do they? You earn it once, and it stays with you.
I don’t see this being an issue with a title being unlocked by having all JP’s completed. You earn it once by finishing all JPs, then even if they add a new one, you should still have the title unlocked.
2: Thats why im describing a process for selecting, reviewing, checking and optimizating the mods.
Okay, we can’t even get ANet to properly review and optimize their own patches. How well do you think that’s going to work out for mods?
(Listen, I’m a fan of ANet, I like that they’re listening to us and reverted a lot of the more annoying changes from the 9/9 patch, but let’s be honest here, there are always some really big bugs with every single patch, and their QA could really be a lot better about finding them… even some of the really, really apparent bugs, like missing feet in the Inventory screen…)
>Experience Boosters from the Gem Shop are now required for all experience gains. Now, one of the most widely requested features (being able to lock your level from progression) can be realized by all players everywhere, free of charge!
>(As a side note, XP Booster prices have been raised to 800 gems for a five-pack.)
All joking aside.. we are going to need those Asuran launchers.
Am I right….Am I Right!!!!
Chris
P.S: The idea of firing them into walls is also cool! I jest…..
But the life of a single Asura is such a small price to pay to be able to get down that darn wall!
I mean, y’know, they can respawn after…
I’d say, also see if you can get a screenshot of the waypoint and heart that were already unlocked/completed. That might answer a few questions if you’re able to see that, and where it is.
Amazing and very well organized and I take it you will do the same for the Sub-Classes CDI to as well?
Not necessarily. Most likely, Orphael only did this because s/he was deeply entrenched in the Guild CDI topic.
In the Killer Instinct storyline under the Vigil, you used to defeat Pyzor Ironmane then have the option to kill him after the interrogation. This has now changed.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Killer_Instinct
Can anyone confirm whether or not Caithe killing a Nightmare Courtier in Discovering Darkness (White Stag path) has changed too?
Maybe new players were confused by potentially making a morally grey decision?
As much as I’m getting tired of the “new players were confused” line, the thought of this particular interaction actually makes me chuckle.
“B-but, my character wouldn’t do that! And nobody called him out on it! That was obviously a truly kitten move!!”
“Yeah, so?”
My apologies, your OP wasn’t as clear. Even so, the best way to stop that is to avoid those areas. If you have a ground targeting skill, and you’re unsure of a steep slope, target the ground and check the steepness of it.
You can actually die by walking down a certain set of stairs in Lion’s Arch if your base movement speed is high enough. You essentially clip past just enough stairs to take a minute amount of falling damage, but with the staircase being as long as it is, you take that same damage dozens of times in quick succession running down it.
I have died on these stairs, from a full-health character. :-| It’s really ridiculous sometimes. I mean, funny, but when it happens out in the “real world”, when you’re trying to run away from a pack of enemies? It’s kinda catastrophic.
Edit: I dont necessarily disagree with the guild bank nerfs either. Personal guild banks are too powerful for how cheap they are.
My issue with this is that it isn’t ONLY affecting personal guilds, it’s affecting regular guilds too. I see no reason to go out of their way to inconvenience legitimate guilds just to hurt personal guilds. Having to go out of my way to run to my guild vault to grab something like buff food, whether it’s a personal guild or a “real” guild, is still incredibly inconvenient.
3) What I would sell instead? Animations. I always wondered why my warrior, if wielding dual swords, is only using 1 sword. If they would release an animation where my warrior would use both swords for the AA, I would buy that instantly.
Animations aren’t really a sustainable business model. That’s not something where they can just pump out a new animation every few weeks indefinitely. Skins, however, are a resource they can continuously implement new variations of.
I would like to point out how much content is ONLY available through gameplay. There are plenty of soulbound skins, titles, and various other items that you can’t just “buy”. But at the same time, the real-money conversion to gold is something that makes a lot more things buyable than might have initially been intended.
However, I don’t think that locking people in such a way (AGAIN, locking things out for people who have more money than time from items that are PURELY COSMETIC) is a good thing. There’s no reason to penalize people from having a lack of time by locking content away from them. In the same regard, there’s no reason to lock people out of content simply because they can’t afford it.
The current system, no matter which you have an excess of, you’re able to get the things you want. If something is normally in-store only and you have excess time? Grind gold and convert it to gems. If something isn’t in the gem store and you have excess money? Buy gems and convert to gold.
There’s no harm to the way the system is now, and I don’t understand why you have such an issue with it. Nothing is truly locked out from anyone, it’s just a matter of how much effort you want to put into the reward. Because, you also have to consider the perspective of the “people with money”. Yes, they have money, so they can buy things easier, but they have to WORK for that money, so they might not want to come and grind for something cosmetic after spending all day at work grinding for real money.
(edited by ShadowDragoonFTW.3418)
Money is a shortcut. There shouldn’t be any shortcuts in a good game.
So, if you want “prestige” skins removed from the cash shop (this seems to be what you’re implying), then what WOULD you have in the cash shop?
There needs to be something. This is still an MMO. This is still something that has constant uptime, constant development costs, and constant paychecks that need signed.
The reason things like this are added to the gem shop is to add something for people to buy, to support the game, which will let them get something they want in the game.
Remove skins from the gem shop, and not only are you removing revenue (meaning people are getting payed less — to a drastic enough extent, people would get fired if the cash influx dropped enough), but you’re also removing the “cool stuff” from people that have more money than time to dedicate to the game. Because that IS a portion of the player base that also needs catered to.
You’re talking about these being “shortcuts”, but I think you’re confusing one shortcut for another. This isn’t some kind of shortcut to making the game easier, this is not pay-to-win gameplay. This is a “shortcut” to get something cool and utterly useless before someone else can get said utterly useless thing.
The alternative, which many MANY other MMOs employ, is to just remove the ability for non-paying players to get this content. Which, very well may be an option. How would that change your stance if Black Lion skins were only able to be got via the gem shop, not grinded out by key farmers?
HRR, I find myself agreeing with quite a lot of things I see you say around here, but on this particular issue, I think you’re off base.

This idea deals with the problem that many players don’t enjoy leveling. It gives them the opportunity to simply “skip” this part. I think that this is the wrong approach. People should be able to enjoy leveling. So first we have to determine why players don’t like leveling. The most obvious answer would be that it’s tedious and not rewarding.
Players try to make gold to get the things they want. Doing the personal story, or completing maps isn’t very rewarding. So I think that the reward porcess should be altered instead of giving players the opportunity to skip all the boring or unsatisfying stuff.
I am behind this 100%. As much as I knock WoW anymore, I will give them one thing – every time I made a new character, I enjoyed the experience so much of just going out and fudging around until my character eventually hit max level.
I like the leveling in GW2 a lot, but there are some points where it just gets really tedious. I would love to see that change, and people to be able to enjoy the leveling experience the whole way through.

I picked the three that I think would be fairly easy to implement, but would also have a fairly large impact on guilds. So, the “more bang for your buck” approach.
Mine would smell like a sweaty dog. Charr in heavy armor, spending pretty much all day running around and killing things in PvE (and occasionally PvP and WvW).
Seriously, he never stands still, not even for a minute. And even when he does, he’s also an armorsmith and weaponsmith on the side. Right next to a hot, fiery forge, pounding a mallet over a searing chunk of metal for hours at a time.
I’ve been using the n52te for YEARS (the precursor to the Nostromo), and just bought an Orbweaver.
The Belkin Nostromo n52 is the original. The n52TE is the one they let Razer handle afterward.
Um, nope, you’re wrong. The n52 was first, by Belkin and co-branded with Razer. Then they released the n52TE a couple years later, again Belkin with co-branding from Razer.
After that, was the Nostromo, which was Razer’s with co-branding by Belkin.
Here’s a link to a PDF of the product manual for the n52TE, dated 2008. The Nostromo was launched in 2010 (which I also linked the manual to, also dated).

EDIT: Hmm… after looking into it further, I did find that the original was also referred to as the Nostromo, which is quite odd. Sorry, I’ve never seen the original before just heard it referenced. However, you were still partially wrong. And now I’m just annoyed by the kittenty naming convention Belkin and Razer used…

So spend the 10 silver and 2 skill points to unlock your blue trait. Problem solved. For blue traits especially it’s not that much.
I still think it’s bullkitten that you don’t have any traits to start with on new characters. You have to unlock them all from scratch, either by buying them or through some silly “challenges”.
Green and Yellow traits? Sure, make us unlock those. But BLUES? Let us get those for free. Come on, gotta let us start somewhere.
Thank god I have characters grandfathered in to the old trait unlocks… though it is painful for the couple of new characters I made recently.
I don’t even know why you feel the need to spam anything.
Listen man, sometimes you just want to hammer on a button. It’s cathartic. Especially when an enemy is REALLY kittening you off and you JUST WANT HIM TO DIE. In a fiery blaze. Because you play Guardian, and that’s just how you roll with your Judgement.
Get a skin and sell the item for 1 gold.
What? You can’t sell Ascended, they’re Account Bound. :-|
To answer the OP question though, I’d say save it for an alt, or, if you have literally no interest in ever make an alt that might use the weapon, you can always Salvage it. (At least, I’m pretty sure you can salvage Ascendeds…)
You can sell it to vendor for 1 gold. And i am sure i cannot salvage my ascended weapon (crafted), though i don’t have a looted ascended weapon.
Vendoring it for 1G would be the most incredibly wasteful thing ever. Makes me cringe just thinking about it… There’s easier ways to earn just 1 gold. This is not a good use for an Ascended, IMO.
It’s easier to spam with your index finger rather than with your pinky.
I actually have my “1” key mapped at my pinky, and I spam fine with it. What is “easier” is all a matter of personal preference and muscle memory.
If you use a certain finger for one thing more often, that one finger will get better at doing it.
but i’d like to play Gw2 on wiiu rathar then buy a new pc/laptop for 400kd which is 1.300.000$ dollar (probably) and i bought the wiiu for 330$ dollar
. . .
Where the kitten are you pricing out a PC that costs OVER A MILLION DOLLARS?!
Here’s a tip. You can actually build a pretty awesome gaming PC for only $500. And yes, it will play GW2 crazy-well, and yes, it will play most other new releases on decent settings. The misnomer that people need to spend thousands of dollars for a PC needs to be done away with. It’s a lie, and nothing more.
http://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/wiki/builds
Check out the Next Gen Crusher and Next Gen Exterminator. Both are builds around $500, and both will be completely sufficient for playing this game even on high settings.

Yes, I also think that a Legendary Collection should exist.
I’m sure a few players would have that already and others would start to pursuit the last legendaries needed for the collection.
Collections are far from be mandatory, if you don’t want to make it, then just don’t.
I still have no intention of ever making a Legendary (or at least not any time soon), and even I agree there should be a Legendary Collector achievement set.
Granted, I can’t see many people ever actually completing it (would probably take YEARS of grinding to unlock everything), but it’s still something I see as being a “collection”, so it should be here.
And I will feel sorry for every single poor kitten that actually tries to complete it.
I concur. I was actually still awake when the patch went live, but I was excited with the changes. I’m glad to see that at least a few of the major sticking points have been reverted.
My personal thanks for nudging up the utility skill unlocks! That was a change I was really happy to see.
YOU may not feel the need to unlock the weapon skills asap and that is your prerogative. What you should remember is other people have different play styles and desires from yourself. Getting all weapon skills unlocked early on has always been my first primary goal on a new character, so I can get the feel of them and have any of them ready to go if I may need them in a certain situation.
My point was, however, how many of those weapon skills do you actually need unlocked at level 1 or 2 or 3? I can’t see any circumstance where anyone would be swapping weapons that often at early levels.
Yes, have a couple of different sets unlocked for different reasons (a melee set, a ranged set, a shielding set), but there is no real practical reason to unlock everything right away.
That may be your preference, sure, fine, I’m okay with that. But I’m saying its not necessary, and you submitting complaints about why you dislike it is one thing, but I personally think it’s hurting new players with the recent changes. You may like it because you already know most of your weapon abilities, what-does-what. For new players? The jarring swap of weapons and the wave of new abilities is probably not going to go well.
I know when I first started the game (hell, even my first time playing each class after getting a significant portion of the way through the game on my main), it took me a long time to learn all my weapon skills, and I just thought it was so much better to be able to learn them one at a time on a weapon-by-weapon basis. If I had learned new classes and their weapon skills with the system as it is now? It would have been a lot more frustrating for me.
Take per example elections (for president per example), do the polls they usually do at that season really take in account “all” the people involved? No, usually it’s just a “sample” that can reflect what the majority could think about.
Right, except for the fact that most polls regarding stances on elected officials are wildly inaccurate. That’s why there have been a LOT of “upset” elections, because people were basing estimated votes on polls that were grossly inaccurate. It’s also why presidential elections in the U.S. are always so up-in-the-air. No matter how much poll data you get, it doesn’t help give you a good enough idea on what the final numbers for the votes will look like. It’s an estimation a lot of news outlets use, but it doesn’t actually give them anything of substance — just a talking point that they could get from literally anywhere else.
It sounds like you’re a young kid, so I’ll understand if you don’t quite understand this concept yet. The next presidential election is coming up in two years. Pay attention around then, you’ll see what I’m talking about with polls being inaccurate.
If you have a Nostromo… just use the software to keybind the abilities wherever you want them. :-|
I’ve been using the n52te for YEARS (the precursor to the Nostromo), and just bought an Orbweaver. It always frustrates me when I see people try to modify the game around the keypad, rather than modifying the keypad around the game. They give you the option of literally DOZENS of profiles for a reason. They even let you auto-switch profiles when you open a game.
New Patch is out.
For you gate haters.
- Utility slot skills 2 and 3 now unlock at levels 17 and 19, respectively.
- The elite slot skill now unlocks at level 31.
- Elementalist F4 commands, mesmer F3 commands, and guardian F3 commands now unlock at level 17.
- Mesmer F4 commands and engineer F4 commands now unlock at level 19.
- Skill Challenges are now visible at level 13 instead of level 15.
Also a number of bugs including the diving goggles fixed.

WHOO!
Yeah… when you say hundreds, I assume you mean 200-500 tomes a month… I am almost level 50 pvp rank, after 5 months of playing an average of 3 matches a day… I have collected maybe 105 tomes in that time… so you would have to be playing dozens of matches daily to be obtaining 200+ tomes a month…
Honestly the point here isn’t to find a way of avoiding this horrible implementation. The point is to get it back to its former glory. This change was unnecessary. Using tomes of knowledge isn’t a fix to this issue.
Holy hell! That’s insane that you even have that many tomes!!! (Err, insane to me, as a mostly PvE player.)
Re point 1, the old way of unlocking weapons was grindy and boring to me and I greatly prefer this new way. For slot 4 and 5, it felt like it could take a long time to get those unlocked and with certain weapons, it certainly was slow.
Was it eight levels of slow? I still think it’s insane having to wait until level 10 just to get my fifth weapon ability. Once you got past level three or four (I don’t know the exact point, maybe it was a little closer to ten), then every single kill would unlock the next weapon skill. It was weighted in such a way so that if you picked up a new weapon later in the game, it would unlock much quicker for you.
I understand grabbing all weapons for your profession at level 1 and unlocking them all would feel like it’s taking a long time, but really, there’s no reason to do that. If you have one or two preferred weapons, yeah, stick to those, but you really don’t need every single one for your class unlocked ASAP.
I pretty much do that: unlock all weapons skills, less work to do later on.
Actually, as I explained in the post above, it’s more work to do it upfront than to leave it sit for later… sooooo… :-|
And how is the current implementation forcing you to pick one or two weapons? It’s not doing that at all. With the new system, unlocking slot 3 by level-up unlocks it for ALL weapons, not just the one you’re currently using.
Use only a greatsword until level 10, and then switch to whatever weapon you want (or jump around and switch weapons every five minutes), and you’ll have all five abilities unlocked for all weapons immediately.
I think a lot of people disliked the old system because they didn’t understand it. Heck, most of the posts about the weapon system here seems to confirm that. If you waited until, say, level 5 or 6 to start unlocking skills for new weapons, then you would unlock each new ability after a single enemy kill. If you started doing it at level 1 or 2, you would take more and more kills to unlock each subsequent ability.
(edited by ShadowDragoonFTW.3418)
o.o I would spend 800 gems on a home-instance portal to SAB. Literally, if this was announced to be a thing, I would go and buy the gems right this instant.
(Speaking of, did you catch the end of today’s update? There is a different free item in the promotions tab of the BLTC every day this week, so don’t forget to get yours.)
I have to say, this excited me a good bit. The free wacky-chest yesterday (can’t remember what it’s called) was OK, but getting the free WvW booster is nice since I’m trying to get my WvW ranking up. Can’t wait to see what goodies they’re giving us the rest of the week.
I’m sorry…. are you guys not playing the same game that I am playing?
I get hundreds of tomes of knowledge every month.
How are any of you guys complaining about the speed at which you level up/stat gating?
My new toons are level 80 the first day they are created.
Play on your lvl 80’s to level ur alts…. otherwise ur doin’ it wrong.
Then you must be a PvPer because for PvEers, we don’t get those. Scrolls of Knowledge I’ve got tons of but that’s just skill points.
Oh, I have around 80 of the skill point scrolls sitting in my bank right now. I get those out the wazoo playing PvE.
The actually level-up tomes? I have like four or five, and I’m saving those for when I REALLY need them.
That is to say, I have a handful of level-up tomes despite two level 80’s, six other characters anywhere from level 16 to level 50, and one extra character that I occasionally do keyruns on.
I love how PvP players expect people to just be rolling in levelup tomes because they don’t play PvE enough to realize that, no, we don’t get those.
Also… “play on your level 80 to level your alts, or you’re doing it wrong”? I’m… I’m sorry that playing my character because I ENJOY LEVELING THEM UP is wrong. I didn’t realize there was a “right” way to play this game. Allow me to repent for my sins of ENJOYING THE MID-GAME LEVELING, I am a hethen for even THINKING such a thing!!
Jesus Christ, I hate people that say stupid kitten like “you’re doing it wrong”. It’s about what’s fun, not about what’s most efficient. If everyone lived only by efficiency, video games wouldn’t exist, because by definition they’re all nothing but a waste of time. -__-;
The problem with that though is they don’t know how to balance, look at the warrior nerfs for example warriors got a few buffs to mace, sword, and a new arcing slice which it’s damage was decreased before the patch, they also nerfed adrenaline which is almost useless now and lowered damage on greatsword skills and lowered the effect of signet of rage just because. The problem is they don’t give much back when they nerf stuff they just nerf nerf nerf and don’t change stuff that are actually significant.
Holy run-on sentence, man! Learn to pace your thoughts. Take a breath. I can’t even read that, I don’t know how you intend it to be parsed…

…me?
I have Sunbringer, but I’d rather have Lightbringer myself…
Tbh I find the gem store updates we had lately so puny even there, that it truly looks like they lost interest even in that. Such meaningless items…no new armors in ages, no new custom features in a while either.
I don’t mind the gem store being neglected, I don’t even mind the living world having huge hiatuses, as long as the reason is that they’re working on a huge background project with way more content than the living world etc could ever deliver.
Luckily, from what they’ve said, that’s exactly what they’re doing. There’s only a skeleton crew working on the gem store and living world at the moment – about 20 people on living world and probably less on the gem store.
What did Anet say, where and when? About anything related to “huge background project” I find very interesting! Please elaborate! Thanks!
They never came outright and said anything, it’s just been little hints here and there that have people speculating.
I don’t think Chris made this thread with the purpose of driving away paying customers…
I would rather drive away the paying customers that are looking for a completely different game, than to drive away the paying customers who like the game we’ve got. If you want guilds to be a vital element of the game for every player, something where you need to join specific guilds to max out your crafts or combat abilities, then that’s fine, but do that in another game. I want to be able to max out my crafts and combat abilities without a guild, so far that is possible in this game, and I do not want to see that changed to suit your whims. Sorry.
I think you’re overreacting to a few things that some people are making as just suggestions. There’s no guarantee anything here is going to be implemented — and the stuff that has less of a reasoning behind it or isn’t nearly as widely supported will have even less of a shot.
The things you’re getting bent out of shape over are things I can’t even fathom actually being implemented. There are suggestions, yes, but they’re just that.
I don’t see anything wrong with unlocking titles as you play through the story. Most MMO’s with titles do the same thing. You get X amount of titles through normal play, and if you want special ones, you have to work hard for them.
GW2 already has the second part of that. It’s just missing the first part.
Just to clarify, you get first black lion key at lvl 20 storyline after feature pack.
No you don’t. It’s still at the last quest in the Level 10 chain, the exact same quest you would get it from pre-patch. :-|
As for your comment about current keyfarming, the method since the patch has been, “Spend the 2G on getting your Cooking skill high enough to get you to level 10, then do the quests.” By the estimations of the keyfarmers, it takes about the same amount of time (more or less), and you will recoup close to the 2G from everything you get from the story quests, so it all works out about the same as pre-patch. The method has just changed a bit, that’s all.
A lot of MMO’s and other online games have open Public Test Servers, or a variant thereof. That’s how the player base sees a lot of these changes beforehand, and can comment on what they like or what they don’t.
I know it’s been talked to death by this point, but I think there’s a lot of merit to it. I know I used to play both League Of Legends and World of Warcraft a lot, both of which had public test realms.
(LoL’s is gated so that only certain players have access, but it’s at least enough that news sites can gain access and let the community know what’s being changed ahead of time.)
Just a little sneak-peak like that for GW2 would be wonderful. I know that the public test servers have helped immensely for WoW and LoL. I see a lot of things posted up on the PTRs that end up getting tweaked/reverted, because they’re actually able to get the player base to see what’s going on, and they can bring up points that the devs might have missed, or show that “X” change isn’t actually working as well as they would have expected.
I think Black Lion weapons are fine as they are. For the casual players, you can get access to a couple of black lion skins over the course of the game. You get keys at several points during the personal story, enough that (statistically) you should be able to get one BL skin per character by the time you get them to the end of the Personal Story.
For a casual player, I think that’s fair. The skins are rare, they take a lot of effort (or a lot of money) to get them. It’s something that the super-dedicated people can get easily, but casual players still have access to a couple of pieces for free.
As I’ve said in another thread, I’m a player that never got to play SAB at all. I was on hiatus from the game when both worlds went live.
Honestly, I thought it was permanent content, and I would be free to enjoy it when I came back to the game. Lo and behold, when I returned to the game earlier this year, one of the first things I did was went to find the SAB. I found the Asura that would give you access, and he muttered something cryptic, so I figured, “Oh, maybe I have to be level 80 to access it.” (At that time, my highest-level character was still in mid-60’s.)
But nope. Came to find out that I COMPLETELY missed out on something I was incredibly excited about, just because I wasn’t around for the small window of time it was available.
Come on ANet! You’re in the process right now of pushing static content, what with adding Living Story to the story journal so we can access it at any point! This goes right in that vein! Throw SAB back into the game, so we can play it whenever we want.
You have a huge helping of stable, static content right there. Why aren’t you letting us into it?
As has been detailed many times we will not be disclosing work in progress. I don’t know how to make this any clearer. As uncomfortable as this may be this is the reality.

Chris, I feel the need to point out one thing here. The person you replied to, he wasn’t saying we want to dig in when things are still in design phase.
A major point of the post was, “If you had let us in on the extent of the changes just a week before they were implemented, you could have gotten a lot of the feedback you have now, but two weeks earlier”.
I think that’s a major point there. By that point in time, nothing would (or at least should) have been a “work in progress”. It would have been “ready to deploy”. Just giving us that small look into something that “we’re preparing to push out in just a few days” would have helped substantially for both your side, and for ours.
Ah ok well I didn’t get that sorry Ohoni and thanks Shadow. Let me have a think and I will give you both my opinion. As i am sure you are aware this idea comes with a similar set of issues to.
Chris
Well yes, of course. Anything that is disclosed from the development side is going to have its share of risks. But, I think if it’s planned out and done well, even having something like a “Pre-patch Notes Thread” a day or two before big patches land could help generate feedback.
Granted, I know something like this wouldn’t be useful for every circumstance, but with something like the 9/9 patch, I think it would have been extremely beneficial for word of a lot of the changes to have gotten out before we actually saw them go live.
This is a problem I personally have with a lot of the Personal Story content. We’re given all of these titles that we’re referred to, but none of them are actually “Titles”!
Maybe I want to be a Lightbringer. Or the Hero Of Shaemoor. Or Commander Of The Pact. But I never can be. Not really, anyway.

Poll: http://strawpoll.me/2555336/r
Out of 1500 Players 82% don’t agree with the new level system with a whopping 41% hating the new system, while only 8% actually like it… Over 5x as many people outright hate the system than actually like it.
I HATE that people keep bringing up this Straw Poll! It’s ridiculous!!
You had 1500 people participate in this poll. Do you actually have any idea how many people that is? I’ll tell you. It’s less than 1% of 1% of the estimated number of purchasers/players of Guild Wars 2 worldwide.
This is a LUDICROUSLY SMALL amount of people that have participated in this poll. Not only that, but most likely the majority of the people that were conscripted into participating in this poll were already biased against it — I.E., the poll was only advertised in forums and threads where people were already complaining about the issues.
This poll is nothing but propaganda. It’s highly stilted in the favor of the people that designed the poll, with people only wanting it as “proof” over something they “already know” about the game.
Please stop using this as a discussion point. There is no merit to this poll, it doesn’t provide anything of value, as it’s highly circumstantial to begin with.
- Down warrior skill “Vengeance” : Often you still die even if you get a kill
The skill has 25% chance of keeping you alive if you kill something.
Is that intentional? I don’t recall seeing that on the tooltip for the ability anywhere.
