It was an useless skill, now it’s so useless that you can’t even use it anymore
it basically allows you to do the air burst every 5s instead of 10s, it’s a 3-4k damage increase every 10s rotation.
It’s huge, of course you lose either 10 water or 10 arcana (i’ll probably lower arcana to 20 and see how it goes >.<)
wtf, I just noticed that Arcane Shield is a stun breaker now, or at least is listed as such…I’m so gonna use it.
I think it is a good change, it made blind kinda useless. Now you’ll have to use your autattack to clear it while in melee range of something, seems fine to me.
because.
“hey, I’m gonna save my glyph of elemental power to use it as a stun breaker, it’s not like it’s supposed to be a skill to use almost as soon cd wears off”

I guess I’ll play without stun breakers now.
GoEP as a stun breaker is the most stupid thing ever done in a MMO, ever.

I’ve played mostly as a roamer/burst specced ele (either S/D or D/D, I prefer the latter tho :p), but I have experience as a more defensive specced ele as well. Never played with staff, I hate that weapon
Practice Time: Pretty much every day, 9pm-2am CEST. Could play all day during week ends if time permits (ie: I don’t have to study for exams).
Experience: Currently r43 in game, 117QPs, ranked around 500th on the leaderboards (depending on yoloQ luck). In the past I’ve played in Standard Model [Std] and Murder Inc [SnC], but I’ve been without a team for a while. I’ve been pretty much yolo queueing for the past month, with the occasional pug with friends.
What I’m looking for: I’m looking for a competitive team of friendly people, aiming for the top and maybe to partecipate in tournaments. I hate ragers but I’m open to costructive criticism.

real problem is, let’s say I’m ranked 5xxth on the leaderboard.
Game matches me with 4 solo team mates not even in top 1000 (let’s say around 90%), against a full premade with every one around 90%.
Of course I’m going to lose that game, and I’m going to lose a HUGE amount of points due to losing versus people lower than my rank
Then the next game I manage to win against a low rank premade, and I gain next to nothing.
Risk vs Reward for going solo is not proportionate at the moment, and that makes it even worse.
But no boons from those stun breaks or condition removal. The only thing you don’t get in your stunbreaker/stealth (no duh!) none of our stun breakers do damage inside the skill themselves and none of our stun breakers remove conditions. And none of our condition removers break stun.
and none of your stun breaker has 75/90s cd, and none of our weapon skills grant 2s invulnerability every 10 (8 if traited) seconds, on top of dealing damage, and none of our weapon skill acts as a stun breaker every 10s (while granting a clone to shatter and blinking away, and it is every 8s in common shatter builds), and none of our skills can remove those OP boons you’re complaining about
seriously, mesmers are the last ones who can complain about class balance right now, I could understand if this was coming from a warrior or a necro…but mesmers, lol.

y good question: it is pretty balanced
but i guess some people wan switch faster attunements and want to have a chance to inflict a condition when they crit + ability to make damage with evasive arcana(burn),blind, cripple and heal mates
well, you can still heal mates with healing ripple at least…losing burn on dodge sucks tho, it was good for setting up fire grabs…choices to make!
I’ll probably keep using vital striking or aquamancer’s alacrity as my second water trait tho, unless I’m facing engineers >.<

Do you think 0/30/0/10/30 will have more survival than 0/30/0/20/20 and gonna be picked up more ?
Minor trait in water heals as much as the dodgeroll if i remember and you can get to pick another cond cleanse trait like stop drop and roll which makes sure you remove burning.
I just really dont know if 1.1 sec more cd for the 3 attunements and loss of evasive arcana outweights the lose healing ripple and another water trait plus 1000hp/100 heal.
Personally, assuming that these notes are totally true (which are probably not, even if they’re legit they’re 2 weeks old at least), I will be runing 30 air 20 water 20 arcana
Healing ripple is much better than evasive arcana for one simple reason: if you’re immobilized, you can’t dodge, so you can’t heal with EA in a clutch (IE: mesmer’s immobilize), but you can still heal with ripple…
oh, and running with 12.2k hps with few condition cleansing is kinda suicidal XD
20 earth 20 water 30 arcana with 2.6s of AoE stability every 9.6s would be borderline broken, lol XD

I still think you’re all being trolled hard.
the only cantrip that could lose the stun break is cleansing fire, logically speaking
Mist Form is the same as Elixir S for engies, which is a stun break (and MF also has longer cd)
Armor of Earth gives stability, which makes you immune to stuns anyway. Also, other stability skills (Stand your Ground, Balanced Stance) also break stuns. And AoE got a 85s cd.
Lightning Flash is a blink, same effect and range as Mesmer’s Blink (which has a shorter cd), and that skill is a stun break as well
Cleansing Fire is a condition cleanse with aoe burning, doesn’t deserve the stun break anyway.
As for which signet/glyph could get the stun break, I have no idea, none of those skills would lead me to think “this should break stuns”.
they had to do one thing right: implement solo Q (top priority and all that bs)
they’re not doing that apparently
let’s see how much the game has to die before they realize that priorities are things you have to do sooner rather than later.
lol@giving torment to thieves and mesmers, I hope it’s going to be on not so used abilities in standard builds, or we’ll see stuff like “oh, hi, I’m gonna shatter you for 10k, then you’ll take damage if you try to move away so stand still while I get ready for another burst”

because there is not a ready check like in MOBAs.
take DotA 2 as an example, once 10 people are found, there is a ready check, if someone declines or is afk, everyone goes back on queue with top priority.
of course it’s a different game type, but the concept can be used to avoid such unpleasantries once soloQ goes live.
Easy fix.
Make the tournaments are only accessible to players in a full group. This will help lessen the chances for people quitting, everyone else plays in the hotjoins.

I totaly agree, a penalty for people who leave tpvp matches is mandatory.
Also there should be a “report afk” option in tournaments and if someone is found to be afk he should get the same penatly as if he left the game.Do you remember that there is real humans behind screens. Should i get banned if an important call comes, if someone ring the door, if baby is crying, If my cpu crashes or connection drops, etc….

Just make Ranked Tournament and not Ranked Tournaments

It sucks to be banned from tournaments for 15 minutes because the dog tripped over the network cable, but if that means that we’ll all be facing less ragequitters, so be it :/
There will be a solo (and solo only, no duo no trio, just solo) queue and solo ladder. Duo/trio will keep playing in the current queue system
indeed, since matchmaking puts you against premade much lower than yourself (and you often end up with lower ranked team mates as well), you’re gonna lose more points than what you would gain by winning…it should at least be balanced :S
More feedbacks -> system is still awful, long queue and I get 2 different premades in a row, my whole team isn’t even in top1000 (EU), while solo queing.
I seriously hope soloQ is going to be implemented on the 25th.

And there will be no prestige if those “select few” who got such reward eventually stop playing → jetpacks and such simply disappear from the game
It would be much better to just make these rng limited time items avaible each year in festivals and such that celebrate living stories and whatever, even if these events last for a week, at least give new players a chance at earning such objects again. If I started playing in September, for example, I would be pretty kitten ed for not being able to get jade weapons anymore (dragon coffers supply is going to run out sooner or later)
In all respect nakoda, the so called “hardcore-tpvp-players” aren’t upset with hotjoin and its function to get ppl into the game or ppl that want to have fun. It’s more about the fact playing hotjoin provides a faster rank-gain than tournament-play, which is a silly reward-system and also destroys the whole rank-concept.

I personally like hotjoin as a way to try out new classes/builds, but they should never be more rewarding than rated play…
Actually, no. Evade destroys the skill-less use of skill shots and poorly timed abilities, as well it should. If you can’t time your abilities to avoid them being evaded, then you shouldn’t be landing them, as per mechanics working as intended.

Btw, having evades means you can also fake-cast things to bait evades (ie: a guardian on kyhlo, baiting evades till enemy can be “safely” knocked away with hammer)
No evade = just spam everything, enemy can’t block it anyway.
Tokens are counted separately, each token adds 1 day, so if you buy 20 tokens you can spend one each day you’re going to use the arena (if the arena is expired, only the owner can add server time I think, from the arena management panel)

btw, EU side, matchmaking so far has been fine during prime time
sure, I only played 3 matches, but I encountered no full premades
last game, for example, was 3 from the same guild on both teams, and 2 from different guilds, so I suppose it was 3+1+1 for both sides. Ratings were close as well, with both teams having people around 500-700 and outside of top 1000. So, maybe, something has changed. Will provide further feedback U.U

As far as the entire of idea of camera movement being a detraction I would substantially disagree. The range of movement and LoS requirements make GW2 PvP far more face paced because it’s more taxing than most other MMOs. I’m not too sure how being forced to center your character for an attack is such a bad thing. Without it, GW2 would simply be boring as hell. Maybe I don’t understand what you’re referencing but the idea of removing character centering is insane.
It’s actually pretty common.. it was in most every other mmorpg I played except GW1. It was one of the things I loved about GW1 because you were third person anyway, you could see people at all angles… so that you would have to pivot the camera to get LoS never made much sense to me. It’s a joy to move your character one direction and have an automated 180 degree spin to execute a skill and then proceed moving. I can’t tell you how many times I played ranger in GW1 and saw an ele behind me about to use a spell that was dangerous. With a punch of a key my character spun, fired off an interrupt and I kept on moving.
Under GW2’s system, assuming disruption was still an important mechanic(it’s not), I would have to notice it and spin my camera all the way around to view a character I already have targeted(and is likely still on-screen, mind you).. then I could fire off that interrupt and then it might be too late as well. Afterward, I’d have to spin my camera back around to move the proper direction.
so, what you are saying, is that you want the game to play for you? just learn to play, every other mmorpg “forces” you to face your target manually to cast spells.

well the changes went live on the 11th and i doubt the decay starts applying only after 4 days.
I actually jumped forward like 200 positions right after the patch (without playing), so I guess rating decay is live and took into consideration past period of inactivity.
Or 200 people in front of me all went into a losing streak on patch day XD
I guess that’s because we got traits to reduce cds of whole attunement lines, regardless of weapon, other classes do not.
Just get your lightning hammer, and spam your blinds on autoattack. But stay away from dredge XD

what if…
there were a “tournament training” achievement line which offered rewards and titles for successfully engaging tournent specific needs such as…
- an achievement for 25 wins for each map in rotation (each)
- an achievement for 100 kills vs each profession (each)
- an achievement for time spent within x range of an enemy node under attack
- an achievement for time spent within x range of a friendly node under attack
- an achievement for 250 over all kills while assaulting/defending
- an achievement for 25 revivesonce all achievements are earned, the “tournament ready” title unlocks, and said player can queue for tourneys regardless of rank
this could be a series of challenges offered by a drill sergeant npc, and make a viable platform for progression based rewards

numbers are a bit too high, but the idea seems nice
I think drop rate is fine (I haven’t got mine yet, btw), considering how easy are dragon coffers to drop (average 2 coffers x holo, and they can drop everywhere as well)
event is long, plenty of time to farm coffers and get skins
