So, I was out for two months or so and I c things have gotten worse. In general I should not waste time on these forums (or this game either) but still.
Problem #1:
Developers decided to promote elitism. How? Simple, if you play with the team that is not top you are set to lose ranks. It was immediately obvious, if you decide to try 1 or 2 new people for the guild and go into tourneys with them, you can lose 40 ranks with two lost games (my first experience after the ladder came out).
Nice, move. Now people who care about ranks are supposed to only play with the best possible team they can get into (no matter how much slack time that forces)?

Ranks should have been per (account, class), not per account. (Discourages players from trying different classes). Also, if you want to practice, custom servers (and dueling ones) are there, just go there and practice like mad untill you get confortable enough with your skill.Problem #3:
You are unable to rank player, you are actually ranking the best team player plays in.…etc
problem 1: lost ranks can be regained once your team/new people gets better, so it’s not a big deal (unless said people are just awful with no improvement margin, but that’s another story)
problem 2: mhh, I’m just going to delete my lv2 thief and create a new one with low rank so I can stomp low ranked people, see the problem here?
problem 3: there is no such thing as a high ranked team with a weak player inside, if you got a weak side point holder (for example), you’re going to lose as a whole team, and the whole team rating will diminish

there is a big difference between “minimal queing” and “I’m gonna make you dodge when you respawn because you clicked the dodge key before dieing”

that’s the whole reason people go 30 into arcana (that, and evasive arcana :p)
0/20/0/20/30 is by far my favourite ele build (I usually use Vital Striking and Divinity runes tho, plus sigil of battle instead of geomancy), it’s so much more fun than running bunker ele.

To be honest the differences between the bunker ele (pre patch) and the bunker ranger are vast:
1, The bunker ele was more mobile and had more escape possibilities so it could run away when it became 3 on 1. The ranger dies.
2, The ranger gives up alot to be survivable/unkillable 1 on 1. It sucks in team fights. Lacks AOE. The ele gave up nothing for survivability. It was still a beast in team fights. A beast 1 on 1. Super mobile. And the best in team fights.The BM ranger spec could maybe use some minor nerfs but this must be compensated with maybe some buffs to longbow or something.
Ranger might be slightly OP but its very minor if it even is OP. Doesnt deserve the QQ it gets imo.

The ability to run away means we already lose, in PvP, sure you lost 5 point for not being able to kill him but you win the point he is capping,means much more point. Ranger has more mobile than Eles though. Ranger can get access to Swiftness too and at the same time, has the skill similar to RtL which is Whoosh.Sure it can be affected by cripple,chill or whatever but besides Whoosh, you also have Leap from Sword 2 and 3, if used correctly, you can dodge forward. Not to mention with Pet ability too. Ranger can get away if he knows how.
Same with Rnger, Eles also gives up a lot to keep survive. Claiming Eles gives up nothing for survive is just an outright lie. But unlike Ranger, you have pet to do your binding with not really affected by your power scale.The reason why BM is good, not Op at the moment is because they can build as Bunker while their pet hit like a Warrior. Simply put, a fight with RAnger is a fight of 2 players, not one.

just aoe like crazy, thieves, mesmers and elementalists are pretty easy to dps down once downed…

Before, were needed 3 matches (20-30 mins), that was cool and easily doable some evenings where i had also the PvE daily to do and only 2 hours for that.
Now you need 4 maps (30-40 mins), that’s still okay PLUS 2 WINS IN TOURNAMENT OMGWTFBBQ I wish to stay with my friendly guild but i can’t make a full team with them, so we need to have some pick ups. How am I supposed to ensure 2 wins everyday ?
We may encounter a full team facing us or get rabbit pick ups, and get on a loosing streak
Daily means ‘completable each day’, not ‘takes the whole day to complete’.
Please reduce that to 2 tournaments played or 2 matches won (so we do the monthly at the same time, like PvE)
you don’t NEED the 2 tournament victories to get the daily reward (laurel + useless junk).

/agree it’s annoying for who like to spam the keyboard like a boss.
don’t even have to spam keyboard to notice it. slight milliseconds on dodging a Mesmer shatter. if his immob hits u, you get shattered in the face then dodge when immob expires.
just to confirm – this only happens if you dodge as you get immob.
it actually also happens if you’re swimming on the surface and press dodge, as soon as you get out of water you char dodges, lol.
this is the worst thing ever, seriously.
it only takes one more match…it’s easy to get 10 captures and 20 kills in 4 matches, honestly :|
Why is it this lesson has to be relearned every game?
Not excusing it by any stretch, but if the population in PvP is too low, then having it fragmented leads to long ques which leads to people quitting, thus compounding the low population problem and quickly killing the game. Slow death gives more opportunity for profit than quick death, thus the business decision is easy.
as it stands now, people will quit if they don’t have a team anyway.
hotjoins have nothing to do with leaderboards and such -.-
that’s why we need a visible rating…but they won’t understand that
showing 100 or 10000000 doesn’t really matter if you can’t see the ratings and know how far you really are
+1, we need to be able to see numerical ratings, both in and out of game, people needs to be able to see how far they are from next position.

When you are browsing the EU ladders and you go fastly throught the pages, it will take you to the NA leaderboard without asking. If you dont realize they moved you to NA, you will never find yourself. it’s very annoying also, because you have to go back to page1”
to avoid the bug, just put the page number in the browser!

It should be easy, you leave before match ends (and don’t come back) → you get a loss anyway.
ok, leaderboards are up, not split the kitten solo from premades since solo queing and getting premades ALL THE TIME is getting boring.
np, double monthly laurels are only for this month (I hope), next month you’ll see far less pvers trying to get their 3 tournament victories (which most of them won’t be able to get unless heavily carried anyway)
and that simply shows how broken the system is.
you can’t put together 2 people with the same ratings when one has 2 games and the other has 200.
5 games in a row tonight where I end up with n00b pvers in my team against r40/50 premades, it’s stupid and will make a lot of people to stop playing.

Matchmaking will fix itself in some time.
How about Pugs vs voice-chat premade? Where is the competitiveness?
We dont need leaderboard for that as it has zero value until solo-queuers and premades get separated. It has always been THE priority.
rankings and matchmaking have been up for more then a month (rankings were reset on 26th february), if after all this time someone who has been playing for a month, without taking breaks, is still getting matched with r1 and r4 against full r40+ premades, there is something really wrong with this kitten system.

Played the usual 0/10/0/30/30 with the proper staff traits and kitten . staff is an amazing weapon to support the mid point.. Sure 1v1 it’s bad and you don’t have too much mobility but your support is amazing! AoE might, AoE frost armor, AoE swiftness and perhaps the most important one, AoE healing! Thr massive AoE does a ton of damage even when you use soldiers or some defensive amulet. I actually felt more effective than a D/D ele. So yeah.. where are all the staff eles? Maybe still not as effective as D/D but it’s not unviable imo at all..
all (ALL!) of those can be done with D/D:
AoE might? np, Ring of Fire, earthquake+churning earth+arcane wave
AoE frost armor? np, aurashare!
AoE swiftness? just use a random aura (too bad leap thru ring of fire is still bugged, I think)
AoE healing? cone of cold, cleansing wave (+ evasive arcana and healing ripple which are shared between weapons)
on top of all this, you get better mobility
sorry, but staff is just plain inferior to d/d.
Im not very sure because i never played pve, but I thought fractal maps were already random?
yep, they are, you get 3 random fractals (and never the same twice in the same 3-maps) every time you reset it
So I really don’t understand why it can’t be done with the “tournament”
Keep the laurels in, they are a good change. I am really happy to be able to get them through my daily now. And others are happy most likely too.
The issue here are not the laurels but it is the MMR and also the bad infrastructure.

Yes i know what the hotjoin opinion on ele was, that doesnt change the fact most teams even back then had an ele in them.
In tpvp they were non existent. Again you were playing a different game. As I was the only ele in that tpvp pretty much for the only day or two I played in it then started seeing “evasive arcana” pop up as a build. I didn’t look at what someone else came up with, I just know the original.
I don’t really see people who play one build 100% of the time as having a reason to even test another build. Much less go into a lot of detail trying to create one. They had an improved pistol whip, they had no reason to use anything else or even try to look for something better. Thieves acted like the sky was falling on PW nerf as well. However this was not an HB nerf this was a quickness nerf.
in tPvP, bad eles were non existant, good eles were already playing in top teams, since day one…much like good engis were the only ones playing engi
also, your stats show that you’re pretty much an hotjoin hero.
yep, tournament insta-popping and putting you against premades (while solo queing), is just bad design.
I can understand if it happens after someone waits for 5/10 minutes and the system just broadens the search, but not if it is instant…
Also, rank 1 and rank 3 players against rank 50…seriously!
This needs to be addressed asap since the game now actually has a leaderboard, and players will really stop playing unless they got the full team on.
same for me, it’s been this way for days…
you (the leader) can just submit the roster with the people left, and it will auto-fill again.

Seriously? everytime I went in WvW people were always running away unless they were at least 3vs1…
I’m hoping that by “pvp player rankings” it means our hidden matchmaking rank position (not the rating number ofc), if not it would be the most epic fail after the release of swtor XD

Greatsword Rush (1200 range, 20s cd like RtL) + Sword Savage Leap (600 range, 8s cd), 1800 range combined (and you could use Whirlwind for another 450 range for a total of 2250 if you want). And all these skills break immobilize if you spec for it (RtL is a self stun if you use it while immobilized)
So, yes, warriors can be very mobile if they want.
I love how people say “bunker ele is easier to play then backstab thief!”
Of course it’s easier to stay alive with a bunker than with a glass cannon, but have you ever tried playing with a zerker amulet full glass cannon elementalist? yeah, you live 3 seconds (mist form), and then YOU’RE DEAD. And you have no stealth or shortbow evade or distortion or blurred frenzy or a kittenING STUN BREAK ON YOUR WEAPONSET.
So, if you want to compare a glass cannon, do it with another glass cannon, instead of comparing apples to melons

@ solo-queue: Yes, solo-queue is something we think is important and it’s towards the top of our list! We have different proposals on how to handle this issue. It’s important to let new players and solo players feel like they can learn the game at their pace, against evenly matched teams. And there are also some players who just don’t have time/ (or the desire) to find a team and play with a team. We recognize that.
be sure to put solo/duo que on top of the list (next to leaderboards), or those people will quit the game before you implement that :P
Agree, i don’t think match rating is working. But Anet said IT IS working.
it’s working so much that if you win a lot with your team, you end up facing premades ALL THE kittenING TIME. So much for the “if you solo que the system tries to put you with other solo queuers against solo queuers” (or with 4 other people who joined together).
Out of 30 games, I ended up in a team of 3 people like 2 times.
Just to add on the statistics, 3 games today, 3 premades (my team being all soloers). Let’s see how long will my liver last.
I actually think one does not exclude the other. There is one important thing that has been missed in all balancing done to this game. No 1 v 1 should last forever (bunker ranger vs bunker ele is just one example).
I am not saying there should be counters but a bunker SHOULD be killable on 1 v 1 (obviously whatever the opposing player is playing should be killable by the bunker too and it should come down to skill). We shouldn’t have this “oh well you can kill a guardian or bunker ele with 2 people so it’s balanced” mentality…
I hate thieves, but I have to say they are only class second to warrior that actually feels balanced right now.
no, sorry, if someone who sacrifices ALL his damage potential can still be killed 1vs1, then what’s the point in speccing for defence? let’s all play glass cannons and go around like it was UT in insta-gib mode.
And btw, if someone fails to kill someone 2vs1 or 3vs1, they just suck.

I mean, the last 6 games I did while solo queuing have been against premades, and actually 19 out of 29 (yes, I’m keeping track :p ) have been against premades
