Wow, that’s a really bad streak.
Sometimes I think matchmaking is pure random. I got matches 500-100, 500-499 and 100-500 in any number and order.
there’s a reason for why a friend of mine usually can hold off 3 enemy players for like 2-3 minutes when he’s playing turret engi.
This friend of yours must play in a very low mmr range. 3 players who need 2-3 minutes to kill a single turret engi must play totally brain afk.

Shoutbow is very good but it is a tanky, supportive warrior build so don’t expect too much spike damage from it.

Why is it that any time of day on any week I go into the pvp server browser and not see a single full server? That tells you something about the status of structured pvp. It needs a complete overhaul. Screw those 120 people that play and redue the entire thing for Heart of Thorns and make it easier for new and all players. Get rid of this 5v5 arena kitten and go to a 10v10 style where individual is less important and you don’t feel like you sucking brings down the entire team.
In the PvP server browser you only see practice. Most players play unranked or ranked. So you only see a very small part of the people playing PvP at any given time. If you want big fights where the individual player is less important maybe WvW is the better game mode for you.
So turreter seems a bit stronger in that aspect.
You are right they are a bit stronger because of Melandru Rune, Sigil of Purity and their bigger Health Pool. All of these don’t save them but it means you need more time to kill them.
I’ve beaten my fair share of Legendary Champion terrormancers
With all the rank farm server nowadays Legendary Champion means not much. I have met really bad Legendary Champions which double caps points and did all the noob errors you can think of.
I have said a couple of times in the PvP forum that conditions are a very good way to counter the engineer. Engis have bad condition clear. Therefor most Turret Engis run Melandru Rune and Sigil of Purity. But even with that they are vulnerable to conditions. Of course you have to position correct. If you stand on the point and let all the turrets hit you while you bomb the engi with conditions you may die faster than the engi.

Most of the times I tried to politely suggest that this doesn’t help I have been called noob, idiot, that I don’t know what defence means , useless because we couldn’t keep the middle point
I think I know which player you have met. Ignore her she is a troll. Even her being in the top of the grind-list which is called leaderboard does not mean she knows much about pvp.
Honestly I am tired of facing cheese kitten build. Especially since engineers can do this… They jump from the ledge and then place it in mid air… MID AIR… That mean that no melee class can take them out and if they do damage to the turret, it is so small that it will reheal itself while you are trying to cap. This provides enough time for the engineers or any opposing member to come back and kill you off.
Here are some ways you can fix them:
1 – Reduce the health on the turrets. (Conditions does no damage, any non zerker/soldier classes will do minimal damage)
2 – Decrease its up time. Have a turret last for 20 secs then auto blow up. There upkeep it too long. Once they have blown up have the recharge timer then kick in. This will further prevent turret engineers.
3 – Have a turret to host radius. If an engineer places their turret on home point and leave the point to fight on mid or even far point, the turrets will blow up. I have seen this done countless of time where multiple engineers leave their turrets at home and then contest mid and far. It is improbable that a single person can decap while being pounded by the turrets

You complain the most about placement of the turrets in mid air but none of your suggested fixes addresses that problem. The easiest fix for the mid air problem would be: Don’t allow turret placement in mid air.

Please Anet remove the current scoring systems. In the current state it only encourages new players to play for these points. So they double and triple cap points, zerg enemies down and so on.
My top suggestions are to remove rewards from hotjoin all together, so win or lose the incentive is not to farm but to play, and take on the challenge of joining the losing team for ones own improvement.
You really want all those farmers to spoil your unranked/ranked games? Because losing a unranked/ranked game gives as much reward as winning a hotjoin game. If you remove the rewards from hotjoin they come to unranked/ranked to afk, voluntarily loose and so on. I’m quite happy that they stay away from my matches.

Absolutely, wee needs a report function for bug abuse/cheating.
If a whole team abuses a bug this is no accident and there must be consequences.
I think the easiest fix would be to lower the turret health in PvP. Mesmer phantasms also have lower health in PvP.
They’re actually quite strong in a teamfight with Sentinels being introduced, btw.
The difference between Soldier and Sentinel is not that big.
(About 10% more health for the Turret Engie.)
Dont’t get me wrong i am all in for a nerf but they are not that hard to beat. The real problem is you need teamwork, which most PUG Teams didn’t have.

in pvp i can hardly cap a point if just the turrets are there, let alone of there are 2 engi’s with 10 turrets

If 2 Turret Engis sit on one point you have an easy 5v3 on the other 2 points.
On a more serious note, if there is one turret engi camping: avoid that node.
If there are 2: gg. (well maybe burst them with shatter/teef, but even taht might not work…)
Ignore one node and bring the teamfight to the other node. Turret Engis are strong 1v1 but bad in Teamfights.

yeah its so fair that this build requires 2+ people to beat or a verry large ammount of time solo while all other builds do not hmmm…
The thing which makes it fair is if you ignore him you beat his team 5v4 on 2 points and win the match.
This game is not balanced around 1v1 instead it is balanced 5v5. 1v1 Turret-Engis are very strong, in a team environment they are quite weak.
Turrets should tank more AoE damage?

Especially on engineer daily. Anet needs to change it to turret daily.
Every class daily is terrible. It’s although no fun to play with 4 thief, mesmer, ranger…
So please restrict class daily to practice or even better get rid of it.
The real cancer in the screenshot of the Opener is the profession stacking trough engi daily. This happens with every class daily. I have seen matches full of engi, ranger, mesmer, thief …
I’m sure class daily is partly responsible for the amount of Turret-Engis these days. People who know nothing about engi and don’t won’t to learn a thing about them play Turret-Engi to get their daily with the least afford. So please restrict class daily to practice or even better get rid of it and there will be much fewer Turret-Engis.
Ps : (I have no trouble with turret engies , but honestly they bring to much on the table for the amout of skill you need for the build.)
You need no brain to play it so everything they bring on the table is too much. On the other side you only need half a brain to beat them, so annoying but no real problem.

Just wondering. It seems to me that on all other characters, blink skills do not proc if the new “no valid path to target” message pops up. e.g. thief shortbow 5 & shadow step, mesmer blink, elementalist lightning flash.
Thief shortbow 5 sometimes proc, sometimes not. This whole new no proc on “no valid path to target” seems to be random/bugy.
Make it random for each person, nobody likes stacking.
And nobody likes people playing classes they know nothing about in ranked, so restrict it to practice or just remove it.

I do have to say though, it is rather funny to see a ranger complaining about a mesmer in a sPvP thread. Classic.
To be specific. A ranger which has much better access to stealth then a Mesmer mainly complains about Mesmer stealth.
Unranked should be for solo ques and ranked should be for groups IMO.

As a thief you have WTF moments nearly every time you try to rez someone. In PUG teams I always ping Shadow Refuge 1 second before I use it in chat. Nevertheless in 9 out 10 instances the guy I am going to rez. didn’t stop attacking, got revealed an dies. Therefore I nearly stopped using it to rez. in PUG teams.
As a small advice from experience, don’t expect the others to know that you are going to put down SR. In your situation you have two options. Before you put down SR check to see if the downed person is attacking or not. If not then you know what to do. But if he is attacking, you still have one last chance. It is hard to pull off but not impossible. You just jump in there hard rez him and timing your SR at the last moment when the stomp go off. 1/4sec to 1/2sec of stealth should be enough to prevent the first stomp from being successful .
That’s why I ping it in chat at least 1 second before I use it.

4. Is there a fast way to determine an opponent’s class? All I see in their tag is a name. Sometimes someone in my pug will say “kill the thief” but then I waste 20 seconds looking for an obvious thief.
If you have problems with that you could activate “Standard Enemy Models” to determine the classes.
Other ways are combination of weapons and armors, animations, ofc class symbol if targetetd …

He meant it comparative to the other classes and you know it. There are far more players of the other professions than those listed.
These has other reasons then that the thread-opener complains about. The thread-opener complains about his sustain and damage. Those are not the problems of the Necro. The biggest problem of the Necro is his missing team support. Mesmer and Ranger are in a similar roaming role as the thief, but the thief can fulfil this role better.

My personal record was 4 mesmer in my team, all solo, no mesmer daily. Happened last week. :-(
4 only happened once to my, 3 sometimes and 2 quite often. :-(
I can be miles away from a node and if two thieves notice me, let alone one, it takes me the whole game to just keep them off.
Let me get that straight.
You say you can outlive a 1v2 against 2 thieves for a long time and then you came to the forum complaining that you are in a poor state? Most classes can’t outlive a 1v2 against 2 thieves for a long time, so there is no reason to complain.
How could might decrease burning from 700 to 150?
Tested in matches and on a target dummy, with no or just a little might.

My burning, normally doing 700 Damage/second, now does randomly 150 to 1.250 Damage/second.
Warrior – Higher HP, more CC, medium low DPS can’t maintain itself no protection slow regen, poor condition removals, can be melted like butter by specific comps.
Since when does Shoutbow Warriors have poor condition removals?
