No the biggest problem is that it is easier to win pips then to lose them. So people can move to leagues where they don’t belong. After being in a league which is above your skill level you can’t lose league and you are captured in bad matches till the end of season.

That’s questionable. I have seen matches where the best player had lowest score and matches where the worst player had top score. In fact most of the time when a player tries to get high PS he plays very bad (double capping etc.). As a mesmer in a team fight it is quite easy to have high PS. Many of your attacks are bouncing so it is quite easy to tag enemies. So that proofs nothing.
I have very mixed experiences with the League System. If I play solo I have quite good experiences. In a group the experience depends on skill level and builds. In a group with coordinated builds and similar skill level the experience is quite good. In a group with varying skill levels the experience is catastrophic.
Before the changes of matchmaking I could just play with a group of friends regardless of their skill level. Matchmaking had always found a reasonable enemy team for us. If I do that now I get a guaranteed loss streak. I don’t think that it is beneficial for the community if you have to choose the friends you can play with by their skill level. I know that the league system in the last season was abused, but if the only possible fix for the league system is to break a good working matchmaking, the league system is broken beyond repair and should be discarded.
I know I could play unranked, but that would be exchanging one horrible experience with another. Even anet had realized that Skyhammer is horrible. So the only possible solution right now is to play mostly solo, which is quite boring and let my play very few in the current season. :-(

How do you get your ascended to pay that much?
You don’t need ascended for raids.
If you choose to get some it is quite easy and cheap to get it.
You can buy ascended trinkets with Laurels, Badges of Honor and Pristine Fractal Relics.
You can get an ascended back by doing PvP or with some easy tasks and 90g (Mawdrey).
You can get ascended weapons with specialization collections.
You can buy ascended armor and weapons with raid tokens.
The drop rate of ascended armor and weapons is quite good (11,4%) in high level fractals (50+).
I don’t know why Anet haven’t removed personal score. Like you’ve pointed out, it really doesen’t show skill. A Bunker, that may have contributed the most to the team, will have a much lower personal score than someone that’s DPSing.
On top of that it encourages bad play like double capping to get personal score.

HoT open world is quite easy it just isn’t faceroll on the keyboard easy as core Tyria.
Of course you can’t carry your team to a win in every situation. But many people claim that they are getting matched with teammates and enemies that are way below their skill level. If that’s true and you are a much better player as your enemies you can have big impact in the game if you put in effort and carry your team. These impact may not always be enough to win but it increases your changes to win enormous.

Maybe recheck his statistics, he has 1,277 matches of which only 376 where ranked and in total he only played 191 as necro.

You get only matched with people in your league and not with people in you MMR range. I actually think you didn’t have. The league division defines the possible players. You MMR defines which of these get selected. If all possible players have a higher MMR you still get matched against them.
Beginning with Season 2, matchmaking for Ranked matches will use your placement in your current league division as your primary matchmaking consideration and pair you against players who are placed in the same point range as you, regardless of the skill level (MMR) of the other people in that point range . While we’ll be using divisions to match you against your immediate opponents, we’ll still use your MMR to place you on teams with similarly skilled players (from your division point range)

The legendary backpack has brought many none PvPers to PvP which thought they could easily earn the backpack. Now they complain that they can’t win any matches and can’t move to higher leagues.
The problem here is you can get to ruby with grind/luck. After that you are stuck in ruby with a very low winrate because you didn’t belong in ruby but can’t lose league. So please anet change the system and let people go down in the league they belong.

I’m not pleased by how HoT turned this game into a complete mess where grinding is omnipresent.
This has nothing to do with HoT. The two Leaderboard seasons long before HoT were pure grind.

ANET, wake up! Your matchmaking guy is clueless. Hire someone. People were patient during season 1. Then between seasons the matchmaking was even worse and then somehow matchmaking guy made season 2 even more horrible

Most of the posts indicate that this has nothing to do with bad matchmaking. The OP plays heal/support but doesn’t provide any heal/support for his team therefore making it to a 4v5. The resulting losing streak isn’t anets fault.

About point four; instead of requiring 50 unrank maybe they should only allow tiger or bear to participate in ranks instead of rabbit? As it stand, you only have to be rank 20 to unlock ranks.

I wouldn’t say ranks have lost meaning, they still have some value. At least they still mean experience.
They can mean experience in PvP but they can also mean experience in running to mid on skyhammer, auto-attack and jump. :-(
The biggest problem with Skyhammer is that it is extremely in favor of knockbacks and cc and not all classes have equal access to both. The second biggest problem is that it requires totally different builds than any other PvP map, without a way to save builds that’s tedious. On top of that some classes can trap the entrance of the Skyhammer platform.
So this has to be changed
- Remove/Limit knockout from map and die
- Remove/Limit breakable glass
- Add multiple ways to get to skyhammer or disable traps on the platform
- Implement Build saver
It was like every attack I dealt was healed after I landed it. Seemed like too much to be regen. After I died, my teammate burst him down like 50% and that was immediately healed. It’s hard to say what his dps was like because there was someone ranging me at the same time…
That’s very vague. How much damage did you do?
With high healing power, regen and Absolute Resolution a DH can easily heal 0,5k/sec.
Plus heal on attack, on skill etc.
50% health is easily possible with his heal skill.
OP if your gaming experience in ranked is that bad you can do many things to improve your gameplay
- Gain some experience in unranked
- Decide for one class and master that instead of constantly swapping class
- Watch streams of top players

- Read and watch guides (http://qqmore.net)
- Record your matches and review them
- practice, practice, practice

Nearly nothing in this game can one hit you if you have appropriate gear. Not being able to master the highest level of challenge in the first try isn’t unreasonably. Adding an easy-mode to every encounter is ridiculous. It’s a GAME not a SLEEPING PILL.
The droprate research is good if you have massive amounts of gold and want to make many precursor. If you only want to make one it’s just about luck. You can get one in you first try or have thousands of tries without any precursor. Average drop rates have only value for significantly high enough numbers of tries.

Regardless, without the ability to backslide into a lower division, a glorified reward track is what this remains. As such, making legendary is going to be a goal for many, if not a majority of players. All it takes is time and determination…and some matchmaking luck with this current system.

Comparing other skills to elite skills is like comparing apples to oranges.
And even in terms of elite skills moa has one of the highest cooldowns there is. Only the warrior’s banner has more and bunch of others never-ever-used racial skills.
The biggest problem isn’t the 180s it’s the 90s and many of the most used elites have much more then 90s, especially the strong ones.

How many and which have you opened? Because RNG isn’t tied on time, it is tied on tries and only 50+ Boxes have significant drop rates.
I have gotten a weapons chest but no armor chests the armor chests have fallen off the map and I blame anet for this. Along with the encryption boxes not dropping and uniques skins I have have opened over 7000 boxes since they have reset them and gotten exactly one fractal skin which I already had so it was pointless to me. the drop rate is way down and it needs to be fixed. one way to do it is to increase the drop rates in the higher teir fractals and make like 100 a weapon and armor chest, once a week or even twice a month would be good. this will increase the action in the fractals.

I did the bacon on 5 characters using only autocast after the first 20% hp is lost, plus some mango pies to help a bit. Not sure if they patched it, but mango pies (HP regen food) basically ensures you always succeed that one if you time your heals well (or autocast it).
I did it very early with nearly no masteries, just health regen food. That food made it quite easy.
