Really???
Flaming your team and then coming to the forum to whine about you team?
From what I read in the chat he does a good job constantly binding multiple players on far and giving you an advantage on the other 2 points and you insult him.
You seem to be the problem here mate.
Of course it is hard to judge by only a few lines of chat log.
And even when there is, the sheer number of enemies around when an event scales leave few options that work in one’s favor.
When an event scales the amount of friendly players increase. You don’t have to fight all that enemies alone. In my experience most events get easier with more players.
There is a number of mechanics that can do it. The dragons during the final fight do enough damage to one shot anyone and their altitude at which they fly means you can’t focus on a ground level fight and track every dragon in the air to watch for a strafing run.
Those are an afk check, if you stand still you get killed. On top of that they are only active while a quite small amount of time. If you move while they are active and watch your surrounding you don’t get killed.
Of course there are things which can kill you but those aren’t random. If you learn the encounters and the enemies it is not that hard.
Either you are trivializing this beyond something realistic or are used to being carried in large groups so much and have never actually examined some of the fight mechanics in a 1 on 1 scenario.
If I don’t do Meta-Events on the HoT Maps, I play solo most of the time on these maps.
I have done all 40 HoT HP on all classes and have done everyone at least on one class solo. Some are easier or harder on the different classes but these are all group events and not meant to be soloed. I don’t try to kill each group of mobs which I see in the open world, but why should I?
I do think that the HoT maps need work, but not because of their difficulty. I think the accessibility should be reworked. The Meta-Event Chains are quite long and some need quite a bit communication. In organized groups that is no problem but it excludes many casuals.
Going into a Raid in Nomad’s and dying to a timer going off is not equivalent to going into Fractals and refusing to wear Agony Resistance.
Timers are neither new to GW2. Guild Missions like Blightwater Shatterstrike had timers. Events like the Breach had a timers.
So what about this, what if we did not get rid of all but most of the waypoints. Inside cities there are alternative travel methods like subways or taxis of some sort, that replace the current waypoints in cities. Between cities there are azura portals for instant travel or alternatives like boats or hot air balloons.
I don’t care of adding alternatives but why must waypoints be removed for them?
MadRabbit’s statement is accurate. The enemies aren’t harder in the sense that they’re smarter in any way. Their skills are either just really powerful and spamable, or they come at you in such numbers that you can’t reliably fight them off while also having cheaply powerful spamable skills.
The biggest difference between HoT and Core Tyria is that you cannot facetank every enemy or run into zergs of enemies. I don’t think that requiring the player to position himself and think while playing is a bad decision by anet.
It falls it the category of “We’ll just randomly one shot people during Dragon Stand to create the illusion of things being really really hard”
If you get randomly one shot during Dragon Stand you are doing something wrong. It never happened to me.
This is not true anymore. If you take all your friends in Nomad’s armor you cannot raid and do you know why? Timers.
If you take all your friends in Exotics to Level 100 Fractal you cannot win and do you know why? Agony.
The game does have dev-side requirements now.
The game had always dev-side requirements like appropiate gear.
If you wanted to take your Nomad’s party to Fractal 100 or Arah Path 2, go ahead
If you want to take your Exotics party to raids, go ahead
People with arachnophobia (fear of spiders) aren’t better off.
People with Ailurophobia (fear of cats) sure have more trouble with all the charr. ;-)
Limiting the developers’ creative freedom for every phobia out there really isn’t a good solution.
This
The reason I started and continue to play this game is because it lacked a trinity. Raids are changing that perception quickly, and I absolutely have my fears for the future.
If things become solely role/class-specific I will gladly jump ship.
Their where always roles in GW2. In PvE the only role needed was DPS, Raids changed that a little bit. The other Game-Modes (PvP and WvW) always had more roles like bunker for PvP or Frontline / Backline for WvW.
This thread needs a proper GM look.
How much more you want as the post of Michael Henninger (Game Support Lead)?
today’s the day they should give us fuller information on what will be in the patch even if they must preface it with “subject to change, iteration will continue over the next week(s), etc.”
I would love to get more information about the patch. The problem is some people wouldn’t understand that preface and if something changes the forums would be full of whining threads.
My biggest issue with mastery points is them being locked behind silver and gold Adventure rewards. If that would be “scaled down” to bronze and silver, you would get enough points to train the vast majority of mastery tracks by “playing the game”, leaving gold rewards for those keen on leader boards.
You don’t need gold, a few silver are enough.
And to be honest gold in some adventures is really easy. For example I had gold in my first try of “Salvage Pit”.
Not sure I really understand this thread. Troll Post, sarcasm, …???
people won’t let me play how i want
Play solo. Most dungeon path can be soloed.
Ok maybe this it wasnt the best example, but those classes have just 2 roles, compared to 4 if a clear holy quatuor power/condi/tank/healer was established.
If all classes are equal, why different classes?
At the moment all classes have their own strength and weaknesses, which makes it interesting to play different classes.
How many roles an engie can perform in raid today ? a necro ? a guardian ? a rev ? a warrior ? a thief ?
If you don’t make all classes exactly the same their will always be one class which is a bit better in a role than the others.
At the moment many classes can play different roles. Some are a bit better but that doesn’t matter much because the most important point is the group setup. You can compensate class weaknesses with other classes strength. If every class is nearly identical and don’t have strength and weaknesses the group setup will be very strict because every role has one optimal class and there is no need to use something other than the optimal class for the role.
Not sure I really understand this thread. Troll Post, sarcasm, …???
I am not sure how guardian is for raids (how good is the hammer dps build?).
It’s meta.
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Dragonhunter_-_DPS/Support
Isnt this already the case ?
Some class have to be spec condi to be accepted in raid, rangers have to be healer druid, chrono have to be tank etc …
No
Ranger can be DPS
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Druid_-_A/T_Condition
Chrono can be Utility DPS
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Chronomancer_-_Utility_DPS_%28R%29
Of course people will always chime in that there are a whole 4 points more in central tyria than you need.
4 ???
There are 66 Central Tyria mastery points available of which you need 49.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mastery
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mastery_point_unlocks
I can’t get all the mastery points in Tyria unless I spend a lot of gold & time..
I have all mastery points in Tyria and I haven’t spent a lot of gold & time.
There are more Mastery Points than you need to max. out Mastery Tracks.
There are 66 Central Tyria mastery points available of which you need 49.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mastery
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mastery_point_unlocks
How would the community perceive HoT encounters if they were to be downgraded in difficulty to match Central Tyria?
Most of Central Tyria are not Level 80 maps. So I think you are comparing apples and oranges.
There are already classes that have position of best whether it be healing, support, or damage and they tend to blow the others out of the water. Why prolong the inevitable with nonsense?
So you want every class except of Ele removed? ;-)
Ele has Top DPS
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Tempest_-_Staff_DPS_%28R%29
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Tempest_-_Fresh_Air_DPS_%28R%29
one of the best healings
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Tempest_-_Auramancer_Raid_Healer
and decent support.
To be serious, at the moment every class is useful in raids and many can fill more than one role.
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Raid
The last thing we need is a trinity. There are different roles in a raid group and for each of these roles are different possible classes/builds to fill them. This flexibility is one of the big pros of GW2, why should we remove it?
Do the rest of us a favor and stop trying to take away things that are helpful to the rest of us just because it hurts your subjective immersion.
This.
Wanting additional ways of travel is OK but forcing everybody to use them isn’t.
1. roamers are almost always thieves which take 0 skill to get a kill with
If it takes 0 skill to kill a target it is not the fault of the thief. ;-)
3. roamers target people who want nothing to do with you
If they want nothing to do with the enemy why are they on a WvW map?
why so much hate towards roamers???
What do you expect? Thanks from the enemies for killing them?
I have noticed more and more that zergs chase me across half of a map
If you are chased by a zerg you do everything right.
I have raven gotten few offensive whispers from enemy
If they are really offensive just report and block them.
If autoloot is active and you are near the chest it get automaticly looted and can’t be looted again.
1) can 1v2 and actually kill both kids not just tank it
So you search for an totally unbalanced OP class?
GW2 isn’t perfectly balanced but it is not that unbalanced.
Of course you can win 1v2 but that’s not a matter of class, it’s a matter of skill.
You need to be higher skilled than your enemies.
I expect a big buff for guards on 19th. If that doesn’t happen I will probably just abandon this game.
So Guards are in a good spot but not OP and if anet doesn’t make them OP then you leave?
Well, good bye and have fun.
as if raiders cant spend their shards right? I raid weekly and only have 48 shards at the moment because im spending them on vipers trinkets, your argument makes no sense.
Try to spend that 48 shards to get to 0. Most of the players have 0 shards.
I understand they are only a small percentage of matches and even then win ratios are not horrible
Not horrible???
They are consistently at or above 50%, how much more do you want? An automatic win?
Only 1% of all Ranked matches played in season one were a full five-person premade group vs. a group of five solo players, and even then, the win rate for those five solo player teams in those cases was consistently at or above 50% throughout the entire season.
More people can walk and chew gum at the same time than those who cannot.
Yeah, but in this case you need different parts of your body. For playing and typing you need your hands. So in your example try eating a steak while you chew a gum. ;-)
I knew about the roof since it’s similar construction as bridges and such but never knew about that wall. But again that’s a ground targeted ability. Unlike Phase retreat, steal, JI and such, so with that being the case any Mesmer, Ele, Thief, and possibly Necro( will test it out with the wurm to see if it will) can port into that wall, but most walls don’t allow that since they are not Destroyable terrain like Khylo is. So physics don’t work as intended on that one map.
It’s not only this wall, you can go through all 4 walls of that building. And it’s not only ground targeting since you can use Steal or Phase Retreat too.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zj19-ELyHlw
And it’s not only this map or destroyable terrain. For example you can use steal or other targeted teleports to go trough the mountain on Forest of Niflhel.

How do you know most of the players will not enjoy it?
So you think they don’t vote for the map they enjoy most?
Toxic good player. I just turn off chat and I can’t tell the difference
How can a toxic player be good if he uses his time to flame teammates instead of actually playing the game?
(edited by Shylock.4653)
Infiltrators arrow needs LOS otherwise it won’t work yes you can ground target ledges and bridges to port not but LoS is needed can’t go through walls.
That’s not correct. You can teleport through walls (0:37) and roof (0:42) in Khylo.
That sometimes doing what the majority of people wants is not a good idea because it creates an unhealthy environment.
And you think creating a system which most of the players don’t enjoy creates a good environment?
I would say it creates an empty game and long queues.
Even with shadowstep etc you need to physically SEE where you’re going, not just target someone and hit the key.
That’s not true. Steal works through walls with only a target. Infiltrator’s Arrow works through walls and doesn’t need a target.
Many other teleport skills (Judge’s Intervention, Lightning Flash, Phase Retreat … ) work through walls, some even don’t need a target.
Just imagine if Anet balanced the game by this same way lmao
What is the correlation of balancing and map voting?
So you ask anet to force 9 people to play the way you want? Multiplayer games are about the wishes of the majority and not only yours and if the majority likes foefire that’s OK.
The existing weighted random selection is a compromise to give less wanted maps a change to get selected. A pure random selection would mean to ignore the wishes of the majority of the players.
Making AR account bound will just inspire more people to bring their up-levels to try and do higher level fractals.
AR is basically account bound.
Most of the AR comes from ascended trinkets and back-item which can be swapped freely between all chars. Weapons and armor are not completely free swappable but can normally be used by a few chars.
Do you think Raids in GW2 were a bad idea?
The idea isn’t bad, the implementation is bad.
Anet sacrificed other content like dungeons for something a few people do one time a week.
Yeah, it’s easily possible to be under 150/200 shards (or however much the cheapest stuff is, I forget) because if you had more you’d spend it buying stuff.
This is only about a few percent of the players. Since the most players have 0 shards that doesn’t change much. Raids aren’t popular if the most players didn’t do them.
If you don’t like it, sell it.
Matchmaking and balancing isn’t good at the moment. That would make it even worse.
Most ppl spend their shards you know. xD
Since there are no cheap items to buy with shards it is nearly impossible to get to 0 shards by spending them.
How does GW2 efficiency deal with inactive accounts/accounts which don’t have HoT?
Sadly, not very good. More than 75% of the accounts own Airship parts, so they must have HoT.
GW2 efficiency isn’t the best source of this kind of information, but it is the best I know because I’m not aware of any kind of official data for this kind of information.
I liked Dungeons and I would love to see a comeback of them, but I wouldn’t see the popularity of raids as an argument for their comeback, because I’m in doubt about that popularity.
Raids were needed, and their popularity shows how you can’t replace controlled small group content with uncontrolled zerg content
Popularity? Do you have any proofs for that?
According to gw2efficiency
58,5% of the players have 0 Magnetite Shards = most probably, have never raided
20% of the players have > 76 Magnetite Shards = most probably, have tried raiding but weren’t very successful
10% of the players have > 240 Magnetite Shards = most probably, raids sporadic
1% of the players have > 1,271 Magnetite Shards = most probably, raids often
Content which is used regularly only by a few percent of the player base can’t be called popular. On top of that bad numbers I’m quite sure that gw2efficiency is mostly used by more ambitious players so the numbers across all players are most probably even worse.
The thing is RNG isn’t tied on time, it is tied on tries. So you can’t really compare between players. A player who plays 10h a day for 1 month has much more possibilities for drops than a player who play 1h a week for 2 years.
But why are u using S1 data?? I was talking about this one.
This season a full team don’t get matched against full pugs.
