Places to look, the dungeon vendors in LA each has 3 sets of stat combos, the karma vendors in orr…there are 5 of them, the 5 or 6 craftable sets, the 2 sets from 100% zone compeltion, etc
Currently im using soldier armor/weapons and Cleric Jewelery.
After grinding till my eyes bleed and spending a fortune in the Trading post, I finally reached lvl 400 weaponsmith.
Much to my dismay, I noticed that NONE of the lvl 400 fine crafting material can be used for weaponsmithing.
Also, there are no lvl400 crafting inscriptions showing.
How in the world am I to craft any lvl 400 weapons??
Is this a new bug?Very frustrated!!!
Talk to the weaponsmith guy. He sell’s recipies for karma. You have to combine those with the 2 weapon base pieces.
I already mix multiple armor types. I just have certain stats that i need. Currently i dont have any precision as all the gear it comes on is useless to my play style and actually hurts me more than it would help. Hope they add the rest of the gear combo’s later.
I agree with Aven, DW just doesn’t fit the “theme” of a guardian imo.
I feel that the guardian can personify 3 different “roles”:
1) the defender – 1 h weapon and shield (or something defensive)
2) the zealot – big 2 h weapon like the great sword and hammer
3) battlemage/combat medic – supported with staff and scepter
This is just my personal take on how weapons fit the guardians “personality”
Zealot is where i personally think dual swords would fit. When i think of a zealous avenger i think of a being eather with dual weapons or a single big weapon. I’ve also see cases of the defender using two weapons to block and parry which in this game parry would be very on par with everything. Your not strong enough to block that giant but i can change the direction of that weapon which i think would be cool. Now i will admit the 2nd of those two would be closer to a blade dancer type. But still would fit.
Parry would be a very cool mechanic to add, I agree, though I still think it would fit better with warriors and thieves. The guardian supplements his/her weapon skills with magic ie: blinds, fire, bubbles. Parrying and DW require more dexterity to accomplish. That’s the way I see it anyway
Eh ya hince why i said more of a blade dancer role. Unless your just slapping the weapons to the side with brute force. But as for a dps take on the dual swords take the power your putting into enchanting that massive greatsword half it then put it into the swords. Plus i really really really want to wield dual dragonfire swords on my guard!

Not sure if the crafting tab on the hero screen gives the option to look but that would be where it should be listed.
So i’m now 80. Looking to make my first gear and i notice i cant make what i want. There seems to be a lot of gear combo’s but the one i really want isent in game. Or i have not found it. That armor type would be Vitality/Toughness/Precision. So my question is kinda two part. Part one is has anyone seen this combo? Part two is dont you wish you could make every combo of stats on your gear as a crafter?

I don’t understand this stance at all. Guardians are inherently one of the best support classes and their name even suggests it – why roll a class that isn’t meant to have the most damage and then complain that it doesn’t?
Who knows. If anything, the only curiosity I have is why on earth can’t Rangers use rifles?
And thiefs longbows!
We’re not entirely meant to be a DPS, though. We can’t be a jack of all trades, after all.
I think that is just our problem. We are a jack of all trades and we don’t really get to focus on any one thing to be great at (accept maybe taking more hits than some of the other guys).
I for one am fine being a jack of all trades given this game was designed for it. If you min/max you get destroyed in the more difficult content or you have a ton of people pulling you threw content.
Too bad for you its not 1v1. Anytime i see a support type, oh by the way thats what your describing, my entire team turns all guns on them and there gone in seconds if they dont back away. Its not that hard to burn a support type if everyone focus fires on them.
Too bad for you it has nothing to do with tanking. Or you’re trying to say that a proper tank in other games won’t go down if focused/zerged?
No my point is there are no tank’s. You can build to be more defensive. But the role of TANK does not exist in pvp.
There are no tanks in guild wars 2, you need to learn to dodge, stay out of enemy fire, etc. the gameplay is far different than run in and do damage, you need to play it smart.
Although I agree with this in a general sense, there is the issue of melee vs ranged.
A lot of weapons and skills for a warrior I suppose are melee based and so far it seems that ranged classes or builds are best and melee is a bad idea in comparison.
The assumption is that GW2 only has damage dealer and support builds. We know there isn’t a real dedicated healer class but the guardian is definitely more tanky and can afford to spend more time in close range.
I haven’t played warrior so I can only guess here but I am having a hard time seeing the advantages of melee compared to ranged and I am not doing so well on finding them.
You forgot control on your assumption list.
As you said your self. They are MORE TANKY. They are not tanks. They have no way to hold agro which is the primary defining role of a tank.
Teach me to hold aggro in PVP please.
In PVP a tank is the fattest, unkillable, annoying, zerg-leading sonavabich. Also has abilities that save his party – shields, ally protection, mitigation buffs and so on. Tank spec guardian for example. Yes, not tanky – a tank. Try killing one of those 1 v 1. Takes ages.

No, but really, I had similar problems. Our team just got decimated even on “trash” mobs.
I feel they really did get rid of the “trinity” when it comes to basic PvE, but dungeons seem to be extremely difficult without tanks. As it stands, I think your party needs have builds and traits dedicated just for tackling dungeons. This is kind of problematic because it is costly to reset your traits, and isn’t at all worth it just for the sake of doing one dungeon.Furthermore, I feel like any kind of melee is incredibly underpowered in dungeons. Just don’t do it. Have your party all used ranged weapons and kite things around. Otherwise, having people using melee weapons just results in them eventually getting agro and getting stomped on because they can’t tank the damage.
At 80 cost to reset is 3 silver or 3 silver and 50 copper. I make that in 1 or two events currently at 74. Its very very cheap to reset your traits.
How do you go about resetting traits before level 80 though? The only way I know of is to purchase the trait-training book and its costs a few gold.
Your trainer has 2 options. The 2nd of which is to reset your traits.

It is sort of scaring me away from dungeons that people require me to fill a dedicated role and take responsibility in that for every mistake they make WoW-style. People are already spamming chat for Elementalists and Guardians and I am betting on that they require them to be in a certain spec. Sure you could say you don’t need that at all, try to reason about balanced builds, gear and whatnot at the end of the day in these games: Mentality beats Reason.
They can try that and ill flat tell them off. Its not my job to clean up after them. If they cant watch there own back im not going to watch it for them.
Explorable mode should be hard, story mode was supposed to be easy so everyone could do the dungeons.
Instead, all I see from other players in my guild and elsewhere is “I’m never going to do another dungeon again!”
That is a bad thing.
Everyone I talk to, other than a handful of people on these forums (the minority) love dungeons. Everyone I’ve played with says they are a nice challenge, albeit one with a slight reward issue (which I really hope gets fixed, considering that’s really the only complaint I’ve heard); however, they still play them for the sake of doing something that they consider challenging and rewarding.
Your guild is not the entire playerbase. And honestly, I don’t REALLY care that much about their opinion on dungeons; it’s not for them, and that’s fine.. I just hope ArenaNet cares just as much as I do.
I also hear more people saying they are going to do them over and over because there fun to do. I infact only hear this whining of the wah i suck make it easy and give me epic loots crowd here on the forum’s.
What do you mean there are no tanks, I didn’t say I was a Tank I said I built very tanky as it seems to help in PvP. what is it with some people so fixed on herrr there are no tanks. I guess Warriors/Gaurdians/Necro (with right build) don’t have more survivability, better toughness, and hp, in short, MORE TANKY, than thief/elem right?
As you said your self. They are MORE TANKY. They are not tanks. They have no way to hold agro which is the primary defining role of a tank.
Unjustified or not depends on what he named it. So without knowing the true name theres no telling.
As a melee or really anything. You cant expect to charge in and not die shortly in pvp or any content against something hard without having cure’s. Now granted i dont know if warriors have condition removal. On my guardian i have atleast 3 different condition removal’s so im assuming warriors have atleast 1.
Personally i want Vitality/Toughness/Precision combo for gear!
LoL or you could just build a balance of the three which is very very powerful from what i’ve seen.
Im hopeing for more of a cloak instead of a cape. Would love a heavy wool cloak for the norn area’s.
Looked through TP earlier… Is it me or there is no more armor with both Vitality and Toughness on the same piece after 60?
Vigil Armor has, if you’ve choosen that path. Though their armor is Rare at best, but it’s not that much of a difference if you prefer those stats.
Are you kidding me? Now I have to remake my Guardian if I want those 2 stats on each piece?
Dungeon gear also has those stats. And is exotic level.
Looked at dungeon shops for 80, didn’T seems to have both Vit and Tough on a single piece. I might go for a remake, not like I mind that much anyway, but it’s kinda lame that an Order gets a special order of stats on their gears…
Eh ya looks like its not there. Coulda swore i saw an exotic set with power/vit/toughness. My bad. Although im still hopeing to find precision/vit/toughness armor and weapons.
Edit: I FOUND IT. Now for the sad panda part. Its the set from AC.

There really isn’t a good reason for the base health difference between guardian and warrior. Virtue of resolve is purported to be the cause on the wiki (guardians have lower base health but more regen!) but basically what that means is we get an ability we should never use, or we lose that regeneration and then have to play like a lower health warrior for the next minute and a half. If I HAVE to spec into vitality/toughness in order to make up for the survivability that a warrior gets by default, there is an imbalance. A warrior can also grab vitality, and still have more health. Why even have trait options if all the options are fake because I’m too busy grabbing the “necessary” stats?
I made a warrior Lv6 for fun and it heals more per second with their signet (at Lv6) than I do with my guardian at scaled to like 31.. I’m not high enough to whine about hp though, just thought I’d leave that there.
Guardian healing improves greatly with healing power. At 60 my regen per second was somewhere around 400 to 600 depending what skill’s i was using. Average hit on me was like 150. I was takeing out 5 to 7 mobs without dropping below 80% hp. I focus on vit/toughness first. Then power/healing power second.
what the heck are you talking about? i went to mists, used the healing power amulet, healing power runes, virtue strengthening traits and the signet that increases healing power….and i was regenerating just over 200 hp per second so…what are you smoking?
They scale the two sides differently. Ever thought maybe pve scale gives more? scaled down to 45 my avereage regen is 90ish from virtue of resolve passive, 75 to 90 from symbol of wrath, and 140ish from my shouts. Thats at 45. Havent been into 70+ content yet as i’ve been map clearing resently.
Big thing i noticed that helps that a lot of people dont seem to do is if theres a necro target lock it and burn that thing down as it hits the party with so many conditions it tends to wipe parties. The next one is once the necro’s are down or theres no necro’s burn ele’s as they do decent aoe damage. Made my ac zones much easier. Others say use the rocks. But i tend to always seem to get the mobs saying there immune to the rocks.
SDmodified: Thanks for reading!
SiNoS: Courageous Return doesn’t refresh Aegis. Aegis is a one-shot boon that disappears when it’s used up; Courageous Return refreshes the cooldown on Virtue of Courage in the same way 15 Radiance refreshes the cooldown on Virtue of Justice.
It activates when you rally while downed, for any reason. I think it also activates if you’re resurrected the hard way.
Bah so basically its useless for what i had planned :/ Reset here i come!
No 80’s able to say if they have seen this gear type yet?
Personally i rather it stay as it is. They did not have traditional forum’s on the first and as such i dident have to read threw all the WoW whiners. The setup they have now is perfect. Have a question ask the players. If the players cant answer it take it to the support ticket. Saves you time and lets us as a community help each other. Normal forum’s tend to just become full of trash devoted to trashing the game and nothing helpful for the most part. I say no thanks to that.

Go down to your roster tab in the guild. To the far right you will see the settings gear. Click that then click the achievement points tab. This shows who has the most achievement points/guild influence in the guild. Currently in mine i have almost double the next highest. And nearly 4 times everyone else.
Ok so my question is are there any Armor/Weapons out there that have the stats Vitality, Toughness, and Precision on them. And if not Was this an oversight or by design?
Ok so i had a chance to test those two skill’s out. Dident notice any cool down then again i have so much healing rolling havent dropped below 95% hp since i changed it.
Ok a further update on this. I was finally able to get this to work. At 49% it poped aegis and then shortly after healed me up to 51%. I was promptly lowered to 45% and aegis popped again. And once more was healed. But this time it only brought me up to 47 or 48%. So while this does have the potential to be some massive healing. I personally found the symbol’s heal to be a better heal. You have to hit that sweet spot of 47 to 49% to effectively use these skill’s togeather as the heal from aegis being used isent over all that large. But was a nice find.
Thanks for testing it out. That’s a big help.
You’re right that the healing itself isn’t that amazing, and it does require hitting a sweet spot.
What I’m more interested in though is the double Aegis. Remember that Aegis will stop any attack, if it does 5 damage or 5,000. If I get knocked down to 48%, Aegis pops, and I take a hit, and go up to 51%, Aegis is going to pop again and save me twice. In terms of mitigation, that’s potentially a lot.
There are also some Traits that capitalize on having Aegis. One that gives you 10% more damage with Aegis, and one that burns enemies every time you block, and a few more. Gonna look into this a bit more.
Thanks!
No problem. And as for poping aegis does anyone know if Courageous Return refreshes aegis or just the cooldown on a used Virtue of Courage. Also does it work if your not downed as a rally is when you kill a mob but tends to only show when your downed.
How do Guardians heal other than using Tome of Courage? By using the staff?
We use our 7-9 skills to heal others. As well as trait build. I passively regen the entire parties hp and with shouts i can further increase that. I also help the team avoid damage outright with group wide aegis.

I’m not enjoying the mess that dungeons are now. I apreciate the idea to wanting to remove the trinity, but ANet seems to have done so without presenting an alternative.
I have found from personal experience that a dedicated healer makes dungeons a lot easier. My experiences were similar to the OP, but when I made a ‘full’ (as much as possible) healing spec with all +healing gear on my guardian suddenly dungeons started going a lot smoother. My 4 teammates could focus on their task at hand and not have to constantly worry and have to run out of combat just to not die, and they were glad to know I was watching over their health bars.
Though not intended by ANet, it seems to work better, and was also definatly more enjoyable (for all 5 of us, I sometimes have the idea ANet wants to remove the trinity because they think tanks and healers dont enjoy their job). Its to bad there is not threat system making tanking very viable, and CC is still to short and scarce, so combat will remain a mess.
Oh and no, I dont consider ‘graveyard zerging’ (running from the waypoints to the boss before a resets) a viable alternative to the trinity. I’m not entirely sure what ANets intend is, I hope somebody can enlighten me, because I’m not seeing it.
The main thing i’ve ran into is that most players do not play defensive. They build to be glass cannons and end up dead over and over and over. Problem with this is in dungeons if you have 1 or 2 people like this and no one playing support the dungeon becomes much much harder. The easiest run i’ve ever had was 3 support/whatever people and 2 glass cannons. While the glass cannons did the graveyard conga run the rest of us cleared the zone without a death. I asked one of them at the end of the zone what his total deaths were in the zone and he told me he lost count after 10. I have a feeling the other was at simular numbers.

Personally i noticed that i cant craft all the different sets like for example blighter’s Sentinel’s and Disciples.
Edit: Like for jewelery as i would love disciples for my jewelery or sentinel’s.
I really dont like it at all to begin with because the logic for me is that, if im level 50 i should be able to tank 10 level 1s if i wanted to no matter what i am. I earned my levels after all and i think i should have a ridiculous advantage on things that have a much lower level than me. whats the point of leveling if no matter where u go, theyll force ur power to match the power of the npcs? i wouldnt have such a problem with it if i wouldnt get dumbed down to the same level as the npc’s in the area because often times, if i go to a level 1-15 area, a lvl 8 area, i get dumbed down to level 6, and im fighting level 8s. i think it would be fine if i get dumbed down, and still be a higher level than the area im in. say i go to a level 1-15 area ok? the highest level i can be there is level 17 where everything else is 15 where and the lowest is 1, instead of getting dumbed down to 3 i should get dumbed down to 5 instead.
if i get dumbed down, because i earned my levels i think i shouldnt be dumbed down to where my levels serve as no advantage in the zone
Also on your “I earned my levels” you dident earn them you were given them. If you had earned your level’s you would still be super lower level.

If im not mistaken you’ve posted a thread about this already. They locked and deleted it… As for your 1-15 issues. You get droped in level depending on the mobs that are in your area. 1-15 means the mobs range from 1-15. Ok lets be honest they range from 1-17/18 but if you cant take 5 to 6 normal mobs if its down leveling you somethings wrong with your skill level. When i was in that area equal level i could handle 4 to 6 easy. Now that i come back normally i can take 7-9 normal mobs without much issues. Ya i have to actually work a little when i get 8 or 9 but heck its fun to fight it and survive. Heck i’ve jumped into other people’s fights while still having half my mobs to help them because they were going down. Thats what i enjoy. Im able to enjoy the content being 40, 50, or 60 levels higher than it.
WE PLAY FOR FUN crowd is the worst thing ever happened to this game.
I hope anet is not taking them serious.
That croud is what made GW1 what it is and what they aim for.
So to everyone who isn’t to lazy to read a post.
Is there a ranking system in Paid Tournaments that someone could use to see who are the good players?
You could play to become one of the people reconized as a top pvper. In the original atleast in pve there were people that were one of those legendary players that anyone who actually played attention know these were some of the top players in the game. I happened to be guilded with one of them that was known for there mission running in prophecy’s. I was never into pvp but i know there were players there as well as entire guilds that most knew they werekittengood and even though they expected to lose it was an honor just to run with them. The feeling you get from that is beyond words.
Ok so i had a chance to test those two skill’s out. Dident notice any cool down then again i have so much healing rolling havent dropped below 95% hp since i changed it.
All you complaining about gear is funny as can be. GW1 had one of the most successful pvp setups in any mmo. Mainly because gear was not a factor. People enjoyed it because they dident have to mess with it. They could just use there skill, and tactic’s. You all say gear is a major part. Ya only for those wanting to faceroll without any effort. Takeing that hurdle out of the game means if you get facerolled its your own fault. Shape up figure out the other classes and improve your skill. Come back and try again. Thats what pvp is about.
Eh i dident even realize the download was 40 mb. Takes me like a whole minite at max to dl it.
I joined the priory as a charr warrior but quickly found out that the vigil is the bashing and killing group. I pressed join the vigil and they said they look in libraries and books before fighting. Instant regret for big angry Charr warrior . The wiki said that “with a little effert” it is possible to change your order so please help if you can.
Yes the wiki says that but in game they flat say that this is a perma choice. So without gm intervention i dont think this can be changed.
If we’re not seeing a +30 toughness boost to nearby allies, then it’s a bug and needs to be reported that way. I’ll do some tests later today and try to figure it out.
Something else I want to know:
Do Valorous Defense (Valor 5) or Pure of Heart (Honor 10) have internal cooldowns? The reason I’m asking is that Valorous Defense pops an Aegis whenever your health hits 50%, and Pure of Heart heals you whenever you lose Aegis.
So, potentially, it should be possible to be dropped to about 50% health, get Aegis, lose Aegis on the next attack and be pushed above 50%, then drop below 50% again and get Aegis a second time. In fact, if you’re fighting an enemy that delivers several quick strikes in succession, and you happen to be around ~50% health, you could potentially refresh Aegis indefinitely.
Can anyone confirm this? If not, I’ll try it later tonight.
Currently I’ve not noticed any cool down on Valorous Defense (Valor 5). With my regen i’ve set on some fights bouncing between 48% and 51% hp with aegis up almost all the time. Sadly i havent had the chance to test the other out so no clue there but as it sets i dont beleave it does eather as our skills that do have a timer on the state such. Although at times i’ve noticed my hp just over the 50% marker and ill just say it seems sometimes Valorous Defense (Valor 5) doesent trigger. Dont know if it was a bug on my par as ill jump from 85% to like 40% and get no aegis. I know that it hasent triggered in some time because i have massive regen and dont drop hp that fast unless im hit by a lot of stuff all at once. Will say though that i’ve though of building into these two and dropping my Retreat skill for the Contemplation of purity skill as to me retreat is nice but boons are nicer at times.
To be honest the gears stats are a joke. At 80 you can get gear with stats you customize to yourself for much cheaper. Fact of the matter is that stuffs mainly for appearance.
