I’ve done most content while pugging.

Dungeons require a minimum level of execution from every player in the group, and every player needs to understand the encounter mechanics. After that hurdle, things are easy.

But dungeons are impossible if you have dead weight, and quite frankly very many players are dead weight. In this case the fault lies with poor players and not the dungeons, though many of the dungeons could use bugfixes

Actually the fault lies with the game designers and developers for creating the very casual game that those like you keep saying you left to come here for.

They made the overworld way to easy with no step up or preperation to the skills that would be essentially needed in the dungeon while allowing entry into the very first one at a low level that did not take long to reach, and again left the player with nothing to really train or prepare them for what was about to happen.

Most I have talked to in game and in guild understood they were meant to be hard, but none of them expected such a drastic and huge jump in design.

They have also said all along that dungeons are not ment for everyone. They said that they were ment for well rounded groups of players. They said that everyone had to carry there own weight. They never once said anyone could just go into a dungeon and complete it. People who have/had this expectation the fault rests entirely with them.

Legendary weapons: stats

Legendary weapons have exactly the same stats as the exotic ones…and that’s something I don’t like at all.
If I spend hundreds of hours collecting mats to craft a legendary weapon, I should get something more useful than a mere “neon tube”.
I’m not saying that a legendary weapon should be OP, but at least 2/3% more powerful than an exotic one…otherwise it’s totally useless IMHO (give me a rusted and ugly exotic weapon and an armor set made of rags…and send me vs a guy with glowing legendary stuff in WvWvW…it will be a lot of fun shattering that neon tube to pieces and showing him how much “beauty” counts in battle: zero-point-double-zero!

It would be also fun reading a dialogue like the following one in a story about Camelot and the Knights of the Round table:
- Merlin…why is Excalibur a legendary sword?
- Dear Arthur…because it’s beautiful!
- ….hey Merlin: are you kidding me or what???

IMHO: a legendary weapon CAN be beautiful, but MUST be powerful (even only a little bit more than the exotic ones, in GW2 case)…otherwise it’s totally u-se-less!
Period.

You miss the point of legendary weapons and armor in the gw universe completely. The hard to aquire gear was never more powerful nor should it ever be. What it is is prestige. Its something people see and instantly know you put some effort into getting. Get out of your wow mentality or move on please.

I view the waypoint cost as a way to encourage us to actually explore zones. As for the cost. It truly is minimal. One event at 80 more than pays for my waypoint between the event silver and the drops. Add in the fact its so easy to make coin at 80 it becomes trivial.

I craft. There are items out there that even buying off the market turn a decent profit. Currently i make around 2-4 gold from my crafting depending on how many items i make and sell. Normally 20-40 items. Another way i hear people makeing money is to grind out a set of magic find gear to boost decent money drops.

The gear type your looking for is called soldier. It is a type that is not craftable. Its only able to be gotten threw venders. Vigil, WvW, God Venders, and Dungeon Venders are the only ones i have found. All are level 80 as far as i know.

The reason we have the small hp pool is because were total beasts. If given middle hp we would be demi-gods. If they lost there minds and gave us the highest tier we would be gods as things sit.

I currently use soldier runes. The toughness is kinda pointless in such a small amount but an extra 1650 hp is very nice for me. If the condition removal on shout is working that makes it that much nicer given i use 3 shouts.

Eh i found if you dont need crit that cleric jewelery with soldier armor and weapons gives you a good balance. Lots of toughness/power, moderate vit/healing power. If you use soldier runes as well you stack even more hp and toughness.

I’m not an elitist, I truly madly deeply believe that if I can finish all the dungeons that I have finished, so can you…if you try.

This is not helping. Of course I can when I try. I am usually pretty good at those things, but I don’t want to try.

I want a layed back party experience that I can do with my friends from time to time, and just go through and when we fell like a bit more challenge we want the not so layed back but still pretty easy party experience.

You see I have nothing against hard games. I’ve played with the NES as a child and there is a reasion why it is called Nintendo Hard. I even played Touhou
But this is not the reason I play MMOs. I play to socialize to meet up online when it is not time to get together can play some board games. You see I usually want just a good and easy time with my friends while drinking a cup of coffee and eating a sandwich.

Guild Wars doesn’t bring this kind of content to the table. It is a beautyful game and I enjoy the world exploration and have no big deal to soloing the personal story. Some of my friend have problems with that others don’t. But we want to play together so we will always pick the difficulty veryone is comfortable with and this is usally a pretty low dificulty.

Of course we could motivate us to get better at the game, perhaps train our 1337 skillz in PvP and so forth, but everyone of us has a job, a family and other things to do than playing video games. No one of us is 17 anymore where where gaming for 24 hours strait on LAN parties. Seriously this time is over and there are a lot of people like me who still want to play from time to time, but simply don’t wa to put effort into it and don’t seek any clallenge. Because when I seek challenge I go to work or raise my kid. This is enough challenge in my life.

Here I just want to relax.

They have stated time and time again that dungeons are not for your type of player. Dungeons are ment to be difficult. They are not faceroll content. If you want that play the rest of the game.

The reason your HP Node shows different is because healing power adds to your total hp.

Im not seeing any difference to HP when I add healing gear

You should see a difference between your hp node and the stated hp on your hero page.

Can’t say I’ve noticed anything on my charr guardian. I can hit at around 2k if I crit, otherwise regular damage range from 600-1000. I’m level 80 btw.

Im a human guardian. Non crit and no buffs i hit 1000-1500. With buffs from staff i average 2000-2500 damage at 80. But my gears focused into power.

Is the trait line being reconsidered for a rework?

Personally i find the traits to be fine. The issues i run into isent in the traits but the gear we need to make the guardian work properly is a pain to find for the proper combination to get the build working.

I just finished a run threw the new CM. Over All im actually happy with the zone. Only complaint i have is that i dont get to attack if theres more than one fighter as they just set there spam kicking me all over the zone. The raw time between the kicks they can use is a bit pathetic. I got lucky and only came out with 3 silver in repairs. So made coin atleast but when 75% of the mobs were 4 fighters or more got a little old just calling targets then afk till my team killed them as im flying across the screen.

The build your looking for is nearly impossible to build correctly. Let me look a bit and ill post something that might work with gear breakdown and such.

Edit: Ok so after some work here we go.

Gear: (Armor) Magi Armor [Healing Power, Precision, Vitality], (Weapon’s) Valkyrie GreatSword/Staff [Power, Critical Damage, Vitality], (Jewelery) Shaman’s Jewelery [Condition Damage, Healing Power, Vitality] or Cleric’s [Healing Power, Power, Toughness]

Shaman’s Jewelery is optimal for this build. This should net you a good crit, massive hp, decent healing, and plenty of support threw your symbol’s and concentrations. I have no idea if you can even get shaman’s jewelery at this point. If you manage this build should be over 20k hp easy. But no clue as to what the other stats would look like as half of this gear i’ve even yet to see.

Edit#2: Stats from Optimal Gear should be as follows. This does not include anything but what the gear would add.
Power: 179
Precision: 224
Toughness: 0
Vitality: 592
Critical Damage: 9%
Condition Damage: 336
Healing Power: 651

Only issue with a build like this is to make it effective your all over the place with your stats. My guess is at tops maybe 30% crit. Better than some but no where near Pure dps levels.

I purchased one Gladiator helmet that gave me a prompt saying it was unsuccessful. So I log out to see maybe if it was an error. Then I relogged to buy another and get the same message.
After the log in issues have been fixed(so far), I notice I have two helmets that I bought.

When do we know its safe to buy on the TP? Will this be a continuous issue? Money doesn’t grow on trees for me in Tyria.

But you can mine for your gold, silver, and copper. sorry couldent resist. But more on topic while they try to fix the TP i have a feeling this will be common.

I personally use shelter as my prime goto heal for pve. Key to it is to use it around 70-80% inplace of an aegis skill’s to block big hits while boosting you back to near max hp. If built right can basically use it whenever it comes off cd and never drop below 60% hp.

Overview: Ok so overall im kinda a jack of all trade’s. I tend to play more of a in your face protector/support type character. I’m the guardian you see running head first into the attacks that are aimed at the squishy people in my groups. One of the first things i tell people when im in a group is if your squishy find my back and stand behind it that way if a mob targets them im there to act as a buffer to soak up the damage. I tend to lead things off with my staff using skill 3 then right into skill 4 then switch to my greatsword then combo from skill 2 into eather skill 3 for damage burst/condition removal or skill 4 for aoe blind. I then normally switch back to staff hit skill 2 wait for it to pass threw the target then explode it for double hit and a quick heal then right back into skill 3 followed up with skill 4. At this point its a rinse and repeat. Over all i tend to be very hard to kill with the hp and armor i have plus well timed aegis clickies.

Havent tried the spear yet. But with the trident the only issue i have with it is i have to be in melee range to actually do any damage. If in melee range its auto attack bounces back and forth between me and them up to like 4 or 5 times. On that last hit i noticed my trident does a total hit of all the damage it had done up to then. Although will say doing 25-50 damage a hit isent any thing great but that last hit normally goes anywhere from 100 to 200 damage. So on a single attack if in melee range my trident does 200 to 400 damage auto attacking. And it also heals which is a plus.

Ill just point out that from this most people are not going to really notice a difference given 5% for most guardian’s is only 25ish damage. (Im under the impression most of us play eather a support or hybrid build.)

A couple questions to those of you that say “Virtue of Resolve” isn’t work activating -

How are you laying out your stats? Are any of you primarily using “Cleric’s” gear?

Does +healing not have any effect on it?

What about Absolute Resolve?

Cleric gear makes a noticeable difference to VoR. As for absolute. Does right at a 25% boost or so to the healing you get from VoR. It does not affect those that are under the effects of Battle Presence. But then again. It really should not.

^neither have i, i’m 42 and not a single fine transmutation stone. I think the fact that you can only use the standard transmutation stones untill 79 rediculous, but i guess they need to make money dont they.

You also spend between 60-70% at level 80. Ok more in the end but My map was only mid 30% when i dinged 80.

You don’t grant the passive part of virtue of resolve to everyone around you, you grant a crippled (my first choice of word seemed innocuous to me but apparently was not) form to three allied units (hope you don’t have a necromancer buddy).

Thats funny as when people are taking damage this one skill will heal anyone and everyone damaged around me. It doesent heal them as much as it heals me given absolute resolution does not work on battle presence but then again upwards of 20 people getting hit by it all at once for 150-175 a tick is quite powerful.

If he’s going for knight’s armor he’s not going glass cannon, he’s just focusing more on armor than health. That is generally good on a Guardian, because most of our survivability comes from healing and regeneration combined with a lot of attack negation (wall of reflection, multiple ways to give aegis, block attacks, and give protection). So all of your regen and healing is more worthwhile with more armor (each point of health you have is worth more than someone with lower armor).

That being said having base vit is still way too low. A lot of things like Signet of Resolve become hard to use when their heal is almost your whole health bar, you end up wasting abilites with overhealing. I have 2852 armor and 14565 hp with greatsword (13435 with staff) equipped and feel reasonably tanky while keeping 1819 power and 1865 precision.

Ok so a few things here ill point out. I also am a guardian but im more of a defensive build. Currently in all rare armor and jewlery i have the following stats. 1st set of numbers is with my staff. 2nd set is with my greatsword. Currently have no runes.
Power: 1,594/1,599
Precision: 1,010/1,005
Toughness: 1,596/1,491
Vitality: 1,417/1,496
Attack: 2,508/2305
Critical chance: 8%/8%
Armour: 2,667/2,562
Health: 16,448/17,269
Healing Power: 847/700

I regen massive hp threw my fight i also dont take a ton of damage. Should i need to heal though i have my staff which in about 5 seconds i can heal around 5-6k with just it. I’ve found this game is unforgiving to your glass cannon play style. Especially on melee types.

Edit: Also to those talking about condition damage a guardian can purge condition every 10 seconds with a greatsword.

Im at a whopping 8% crit with that trait.

Edit: I’ve also tried slotting ruby orb’s into all my gear. It netted me like another 6% crit. Not worth giving up all the hp i get from a full set of soldier runes in my mind.

I personally use a mix of stats. I have Soldier Armor/Weapon’s (Power/Toughness/Vitality), and Cleric Jewelery (Power/Toughness/Healing Power). Only thing i wish i had more of would be Precision for more crit chance to activate vigor. But with my other stats i regen my hp fast enough that unless i get caught by one of those one hit moves i dont really worry.

I use my staff mostly for the skill 4 dps buff then switch to my greatsword for damage and aoe condition purge. If you need to stay ranged or need to throw some healing switch to the staff then use skill’s 2-4. Over all i can just stand at a mob without any issues in cm.

I don’t believe that that’s accurate, since crafting legendary items is done via the mystic forge. You need items that may or may not be easier to acquire with certain disciplines, but that also depends on what legends you’re looking to make.

I’ve heard the items needed to make it are soulbound and not account bound. That might be what they were referring to.

Forgive my ignorance, but aren’t crafted high tier jewels an upgrade component that can be applied to virtually any piece of gear, wheras things like weapons and armor are limited to a single or extremely limited number of slots?

Or are the highest tier jewels only usable in jewelry?

If the first is the case this would explain the higher inherent value of crafted jewels, as those jewels have a higher inherent value due to higher potential demand on a per character basis, whereas the upgrades (runes, sigils) craftable by other professions have a much more limited potential demand.

Again, If this is not the case I apologize as I have very limited experience with high tier jewels as I in stead opt to use sigils and runes in my equipment, but I do recall using several found jewels in my equipment at lower levels.

Jewels were only ever able to be put into jewelery. Your thinking of Seal’s, Medallion’s, and Crest’s.

Its not just rune’s but armor stats as well like the soldier one that gives power toughness and vit. As for your salvage did you try using a transmutation stone? besides letting you change looks it also lets you changes stats and runes.

Have you tried spear? Tridant is a bounce weapon that hits slightly harder with each bounce and heals you if it bounces onto yourself or an ally if it bounces onto them.
This is for guardian anyways.

Some other thoughts,

  • A way for me as the guild leader to see who is contributing Influence and How much, would offer me another way to pick people to Promote.
  • A way to see when someone last logged in, with a Cap of 500 members I am beginning to feel the pressure of who to cut to make room for people that want to be here, logged on and contributing.
  • If you ever add Mounts in the game, I would love to see Guild Mounts.

Guardians have lower base HP but the regeneration from Virtue of Resolve makes up for it. It all else fails, the heal from it as well. Don’t even need to mention all the other sources of regeneration the class has free access to. At the end of the day, you’ll have around the same amount of hit points to spend, probably more.

Your point being? A guardian doesn’t use up a slot for it.

technically neither does a warrior. healing signet is also their heal ability and has HALF The cooldown of the guardian condition removal+heal healing ability.

Guardian has some of the most powerful condition removal in the game in the form of an aoe condition purge thats useable every 10 seconds known as the greatsword…

What is Cheapest Crafting 0-400 ?

The cheapest is cooking – it took me 2gold to get from 1 to 400 in about a full day.
The fastest is likely armorsmithing or weaponsmithing – resources for those are available everywhere, you just have to buy fine ingredients.
Lastly, I tried leveling tailoring after cooking, I spent 8 gold and 4 days to get it to 400.

Just to point out a lot of time if you buy only the items used in discovery from the tp its cheaper for armorsmith atleast.

Actually, I only bought the ingredients for discoveries for cooking and tailoring is analogous to armorsmithing and I only used discoveries there as well. The thing is that fine crafting materials are kitten overpriced – if you get them from the trading post, instead of scavenging yourself, then be ready to pay a great deal.
Oh and, forgot to mention – I also spent 1000 karma on cooking.

Ya fine mats are overpriced. But buying pre made insignia’s for half the cost of the fine mats isent

The cheapest is cooking – it took me 2gold to get from 1 to 400 in about a full day.
The fastest is likely armorsmithing or weaponsmithing – resources for those are available everywhere, you just have to buy fine ingredients.
Lastly, I tried leveling tailoring after cooking, I spent 8 gold and 4 days to get it to 400.

Just to point out a lot of time if you buy only the items used in discovery from the tp its cheaper for armorsmith atleast.
