Thief can achieve 25% faster movement speed through signet of shadows, a 3rd tier skill. This is the fastest speed boost with the least requirements. This makes this the best option if you just want speed since you won’t have to invest for traits you might not otherwise use.
Elementalist can achieve 25% two ways. 1 via an air trait that increasess speed over time (up to 25%) while attuned to air (This particular buff doesn’t stack with other movement speed boosts, doesn’t look like you can get a passive speed faster than 25%) Another method requires a trait in the arcane tree to increases movement speed while weilding daggers, and then equip Signet of Air for an extra 10%
Finally necros can hit 25% via a blood magic trait that boosts speed by 10% for equipping a dagger in the main hand and an extra 5% for the offhand, add that with the faster movement speed from signet of the locust and you get the 25%.
There are other classes with boosts but not nearly this fast, usually a passive 10% (ranger and warrior) or requires odd conditions (engineer)
To add to this. Guardians using shouts and staff can get 33% for as long as they want.
As stated agro is based off of a lot of factors. I feel the reason we have agro so often is because while we are not the best in any one thing were very very good at most everything. When your as well rounded as a guard you cover so many variable and being in melee most times you tend to take priority on agro which is what i have come up with.
Discovery is not what you get to your character level bar. Its your craft bar. Theres times when i was nearing in on 400 i was getting 200k or so exp a disco. Yet no where near that to character level.
Because of the downleveling which is done for all partymembers, it’s 100% doable to enter all story mode dungeons the level they open up for you which is 30 for AC and then every 10 levels. I am not sure if you can even enter before that level, but would not be wise. You ll get too many glancing blows.
At any level it helps if you have at least a weapon for that level and blue gear if you can, you ll notice the difference in staying alive and damage output
The exploration mode is a bit harder but with a solid group level should not matter that much. (be warned tho there are groups out there that ll kick you if you apply for exp mode when not 80)
In beta you could enter before the level. I know i’ve taken a 31 with me into AC EM. So atleast for EM you can take before the level.
I’m rocking full Cleric’s on my armor with runes of the water, pow/prec/crit on my greatsword with superior sigil of water, and chrysocola jewelry. I find that the healing really synergizes with the greatsword heal on ability use, and also provides my party with constant (and significant) healing, while the extra vitality from the jewelry makes me very difficult to kill.
I am very pleased with this build and am surprised that not many more are doing it as it gives a decent amount of damage for farming, tons of survivabilty, and great support for dungeon groups.
Did they change Zealous Blade to scale with Healing Power?
I also would like to know this. I feel it should have scaled all along and was just bugged. Been itching to make a 30 zeal build.
In terms of flex i’ve found soldier (power/toughness/vitality) armor tends to be one of the better ones, best one IMHO, as most of your stats will come from weapons and jewelery. Its easy to swap weapons and jewelery around to fill out your other stats as a set of soldier gear without any other vitality will set you to roughly, i say this because i have some talents into vitality, 15000 hp which is the sweet spot for guardian hp that i have found. This also nets you a little toughness to help out with squishy problems.
They have also said all along that dungeons are not ment for everyone. They said that they were ment for well rounded groups of players. They said that everyone had to carry there own weight. They never once said anyone could just go into a dungeon and complete it. People who have/had this expectation the fault rests entirely with them.
Would you like to try again?
I’ve read every single piece of GW2 news pre and post release, and Arenanet has not stated, anywhere, that any dungeon would not be playable by the entire playerbase.
If they have stated that anywhere, prove it, link it, show evidence. You may find that difficult though, as no such statement has ever been made.
Heres the post by Colin him self. While he doesent come right out and say it as bluntly as i do its there.
http://amd-icbm.com/icbm/guild-wars-2-colin-johanson-talks-about-dungeon-difficulty/
I’ve done most content while pugging.
Dungeons require a minimum level of execution from every player in the group, and every player needs to understand the encounter mechanics. After that hurdle, things are easy.
But dungeons are impossible if you have dead weight, and quite frankly very many players are dead weight. In this case the fault lies with poor players and not the dungeons, though many of the dungeons could use bugfixes
Actually the fault lies with the game designers and developers for creating the very casual game that those like you keep saying you left to come here for.
They made the overworld way to easy with no step up or preperation to the skills that would be essentially needed in the dungeon while allowing entry into the very first one at a low level that did not take long to reach, and again left the player with nothing to really train or prepare them for what was about to happen.
Most I have talked to in game and in guild understood they were meant to be hard, but none of them expected such a drastic and huge jump in design.
Would you like to try again?

Actually I would.
Now other than to grief me your reason for a reply to my post was?
Right, to grief me, because you all you did was state what I put in the last line of what you qouted, but with just a whole bunch more words.
As I have stated elsewhere. Many of us that came from this game were from Guild Wars 1, and we followed this games every teaser, tidbit, etc since its announcement and the release of EotN.
Those of us who have played GW1 since its release did not expect what came in this game. We expected hard, and for most of us that was never the issue, but we also expected a lot more than just how overall CAREBEAR the game is.
Again, as stated in other threads. GW1 by design did a much better job of leading players through content and ramping them up for the harder areas to come.
THIS GAME DOES NOT.
So don’t bother trying again. You already blew your chance by being non-constructive.
You clearly dident read what i posted. To simplify it for you since you dont seem to understand.
The point of my post came down to this. They said that the Dungeons would be on a whole different level than the rest of the game. They made it a point to say that this content unlike the rest of the game required a lot more understanding of the game and its workings, and skill to use them than the as you referred to it “carebear” content thats found in the rest of the game. In final people overlooking this and complaining is not the fault of the dev’s but the people and only with them.
Your clearly the one who’s being non-constructive as i only responded to you in the exact same way you have reacted to others. If you want to set down and have a constructive debate about it i’m more than willing to treat you as an adult. Till then ill treat you as a kid.
Any good level 80 crafting gear that's "better" than the normal stuff?

Legendary weapons are -very- slightly superior in exotics in base attack strength, but that’s it. Once you hit lv80 and you get exotic weapons and armor, you can either say “I’m done” and run around in that armor forever, or you can say “I want to look cool as hell”, and do the farming required to get the cool looking armor/weapon skins. Once you have lv80 exotics you’ve hit the top of the gear mountain.
There is not stat difference between exotics and legendary’s at all. The websites saying there is are wrong. Sunrise was discovered today and its stats are no different.
My guess is its just got some wording messed up on it like the Digital deluxe golem banker where it says account bound but is infact soul bound.
I loved seeing the tears on little srublets faces when I parked my mammoth on top of the mailbox in Orgrimmar and they were forced to look upon it in awe. +1 for you, OP.
8. Sorry i forget this MAJOR point mounts blocking Npc’s Mail ect ect wont and just cant happen in this game cuase of that beautifull little F key
There are no mail boxes… As for the whole mounts. I vote no.
@Ynna
While i understand that i use the staff all the time in pve. What im looking at is if it had never been bugged and only 5 seconds honestly no one would be complaining about this change.
(edited by SiNoS.2147)
They only corrected a bug with the 5th skill. Dont see what the complaints are about.
Uhm..well to be fair the event rewards actually do not pay for teleporting or repairing costs.
My teleport cost is normally less than 2 silver as a 80. I get around 1 silver 30-50 copper in just coin not including the drops i normally sell. One event normally pays for my teleport. I tend to do 3-4 events if im in a zone.
Your teleporting fee is only going to be less than 2s if you teleport within the zone. If you teleport within a low level zone it will take you quite a while to recoup those costs. I play the game too, I know how it is.
Thats funny. Teleporting from TP in Divinity to Traveler’s dale in gendarran fields (3 zones is 1 silver 87 copper.

Please? There would be absolutely no way for a level 80 to grief a level 3. All that noob player would have to do is hit his quest/event monster one time to get credit. Once. ONCE. Nobody is that slow…
Nobody would really end up getting griefed…
At the VERY least, Anet you need to tune the downleveling system to within like 20 levels. What I mean by that is if I’m level 80 and I go to a zone to help a level 23 guildy kill a level 24 mob, the system should let me stay 20 levels above that mob. Thus, I would be able to be level 44~ in that zone. There is no reason to force players to level match the monster that they are fighting. It’s unfair, makes all that work people put into leveling feel unrewarding, and most importantly the loot doesn’t scale.
I know for a fact a lot of times casters dont get a single hit in on mobs when enough people are on that event. I watch it time and again and hear my caster friends and myself when im on my caster complain about how fast mobs go down. Normally my attacks hit right after the mob goes down. So no the level scaling system is fine. As for work into leveling? Your kidding right? Levels are GIVEN to you. It doesent take any work at all. Just running threw all the zones without fighting once would pribally get you to 80.
I know everyone has a choice, but im sure every sane sensible human being will not go melee, unless you’re a masochist.
Or a guardian given you really hurt your self in most cases going with the ranged option for more than just support buffs.
So, grouping and reward is working or not?
Tokens seem to stack properly now. Havent tested dr though given it never hit me before.
Could probably add a flag to the system that would allow for one free leave per hour or something… I mean if you are getting hit with horrid newbie groups that often in a hour then you need to take a little break and wait for the newbies to go away X)
This is reasonable. In all my runs i’ve only had 2 groups that i had to leave.
If i remember right the staff skill 5 always said 5 seconds but was bugged and lasted for 8.
You can transmute it.
Could implement a curse system or a debuff system that would place an icon on their screen above their skills with maybe a sad face or a cracked skull.
Name: Disgrace
Description: You have abandoned your comrades to die, the God Grenth frowns down on those who desert their comrades.
Technical: The time would only tick down if the player on that character is online, so you don’t have those players who go do something else and come back half an hour later to re-play. It’s not a harsh punishment, it gives just enough of a sting to let those who do know and not know better that they shouldn’t ruin other peoples fun. When they go up to the portal, it will check to see if they have that curse or debuff (what ever you want to call it) if they have it, the Seventh Reaper pops up in front of them and tosses them away from the portal.
Only issue with this is players like my self kittenfuse to do the whole stupid graveyard zerg and leave the group would get flagged for leaving a group that obviously wasent worth the time or money it would have taken.
Couple of Problems with your first post. There is no chest from Adelbern, just a leftover chest from other other boss fight on that platform.
Second, the group gets kicked only if the group leader disbands. I’m guessing this is what happened.
Thirdly, everyone gets a Rare (Yellow) helm the first time they do a story dungeon. I haven’t tested, but I have a feeling the quest reward persists after zoning.
I do agree that a group leader shouldn’t be able to disband their group though, merely leave it. I can see no real benefit from having a disband option at current other than greifing.
To also add to this. You dont get the “Quit Out” option till the popup for zone complete and reward is given to the entire group after the cut scene. So i fail to see where the issue here was.
Use staff. Just by using the 2,3,4 skill you do damge. And at that point you can switch to a dps weapon till the 4 skill’s back up. As long as you tag a mob at some point, and you should be more than able to attack at some point or your doing something seriously wrong, you get access to loot. Now if your just not getting good loot thats normal and just bad luck. Most dont above a green or two per zone. Theres zones i dont get any greens then theres zones i get nothing but them.
I seem to recall hearing in an interview that you can combine the two legendary greatswords to create a third legendary greatsword. I have no idea how true this is but, if so, it does confirm that there are other legendaries out there.
I’ve also heard this. The combined sword basically changes on the time of day instead of just the same constant effect. Cool design if its actually in game.
I’ve not done a full setup yet, but I wonder if Virtue of Resolve is affected by healing gear. If so, it might be worthwhile investing in some equipment which takes advantage of this effect, I think that’s what the developers had in mind with the class, though I suspect that the huge DPS of other classes will completely negate any self-heals we can pump out and that +toughness and vitality are our only options to counteract the awful base hit points we are handicapped with.
VoR does infact scale with healing power. As for your hp to burn. I stacked in spvp that is vit, healing power, power, precision. I faceroll 3 people at a time with my guard. This is with no toughness against glass cannons and toughness support types. Normally only go down against the full team turning there guns on me. So while you wouldent think it our self healing with our raw defense ability actually can be very powerful.
~15k HP is a comfortable value for Guardians.
I agree. All guards should aim for 15k. Then build from there. 15k seems to be the sweet spot though.
Dolyak regens for 30 per tick, and it’s separate from any other heal. You can test this by equipping a Dolyak armor (in the Mists) and jumping anywhere you’d take fall damage.
I find it useful for the extra Toughness (the stat I lack most in my build) and Vit.
But I’m considering changing to something that adds Healing, such as Dwayna. The healing increase is an extra 10 per sec on Virtue of Resolve, but it also improves my other healing skills (which I use alot).
I tried dolyak like this but only heal that showed up on me was my resolve. Maybe something bugged on me.
By the way, on the original topic, I think they have been actually making dungeons easier for reals, it’s not just a case of people improving. Those graveling mounds went down so much faster than the last time I tried – that doesn’t happen just from getting better, that comes from their HP being halved (and it was the HP, since they still didn’t fix the bug that stopped me hitting the kitten things half the time.) I think they may have slowly started working on nerfing the kitten HP of some of the mobs too.
Now, please give the same treatment to every. single. mob – and boss – in the zealot and plunderer routes of Honour of the Waves. Please!
I dont think they are messing with the hp. Theres a trick to the mounds expecially for melee that lets you hit them. Most people are pribally starting to figure out this trick or using it without realizing it. Reason why i say this is i’ve been in groups that just destroy the mounds and others that take so long to burn it that i think im the only one attacking it. That and people are getting better at balancing there armor to get the most out there there character instead of just going full dps or full support.
well i want to know the same thing as OP.. im thinking of working towards rainbowbow but i really dont want vitality and toughness.. i want power, presicion and critdmg like The Lover has; will my unicornrainbowbow have these stats aswell or will they get nasty vitality that my cute ranger dont like?? <3
Just use a transmutation stone to get the stats you want.
i feel we’re more of a buffer for when the party makes minor mistakes. The strength of our support depends highly on the skills of our party members.
This sums up exactly what we are ment to do. Support is not ment to be an oh crap button to save bad players. Thats a healer and frankittenhis game doesent have healers. We are ment to provide a buffer. You notice your groups getting a little low on hp and theres a big attack due. You pop some aoe healing to buffer there hp till they can use there own healing skill’s. This is the point of support. Were ment to supplement them not carry them. They still have to do there part.
The difference is your compairing a crafted 30 2 stat ear ring to a single stat looted green. Green 2 stat doesent come into play till level 35. At which point you can craft them.
Easiest way i’ve found is to run karma and buy the armor or craft it. Then again you could just earn the gold and buy it out right. At 80 gold’s fairly easy to get if you just look around some. I currently make 4-8 gold a day just crafting.
Only door i know of is the portal one. If thats the area go to your order’s base and use the portal to get over there.
Even if I don’t enjoy it. All I want is to preform well. Even if it means I don’t like doing it. Part of my competitive nature.
As for the shout support (SiNoS) what gear/ traits and trait marks do you choose?
And does the build I have described fit the guardian support role ?
Build: http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#Mccz0V0MMaGvomCFvm9MaxxoMabmsa
Armor: Soldier’s (Power/Toughness/Vitality), Weapons: Soldier’s (Power/Toughness/Vitality), Jewelery: Cleric (Healing Power/Power/Toughness), Rune’s: Soldier (25 Vitality/15 Toughness/50 Vitality/35 Toughness/90 Vitality/Shouts remove a condition.), Sigil’s: Force (% Damage)
I tend to do a lot of body blocking which is why i use shelter instead of healing breeze. Frankly i can block a lot more damage than most characters can take. And shelter gives a channeled block and heals me for 5k. Also normally lead off with the staff using 3, 2 (then 2 again if anyone’s taken any damage to explode the orb), 4, ` (Swap to my greatsword), 2, 3 (This does nice aoe and since you used 2 right before this does an aoe condition purge. Ill also sometimes hit my Save Yourselves to pull all conditions onto me at this time if my groups close enough.), eather auto attack till i can go back to staff at this point or might just 4 skill to blind the mob if i see a huge attack charging. Once back to the staff will drop 3 again then 2 for quick heal. Once switch counter hits 4 seconds start up 4 skill again then rinse and repeat. For most fights this works very well for me.
Maybe you could nerf thieves or is normal that they hit for 12k on one hit?
If your getting hit for 12k you have no toughness. Just wait for a warrior to come up and smack you for 20-25k.
I can understand if Anet refuses to implement race change because of the story related to it. I just hope that character appearance change is something they consider strongly as there is no related story to it.
They have already stated that appearance change is coming to the BLTP. They dident have it for launch because it wasent ready.
I play a shout support guardian. I know that there are groups when i have made the difference. You dont realize what you do for the party. Infact i dident realize it till people have messaged me after a zone asking to friend me because of the difference i made on the zone.
The names are game wide. Given i can go and play as a guest on any server without transfering kinda makes sense.
When did they enable guesting? Has been disabled from launch and I have seen no announcement that it was up and running yet.
Its not actually guesting. I group with them then they just transfer to my zone. So far only done this with people from Isle of Janthir. Im from Sorrow’s Furnace. But i’ve grouped up with someone from maguuma as well. He was just over in his wvw at the time so obviously i couldent transfer to him.
I like the Rune of the Dolyak. The health regen helps with resolve’s too, making it a 120 health regen total per second without any healing power.
So it infact doesent give you regen but only adds to Resolve if your a guardian? That would be why i dident notice it working.
@Sinos your +stats from gear (precision, power, etc) do make a very large difference when you’re in full gear. Lvl 35’s don’t hold the team back at all, level 80’s just steamroll.
I never said it dident make a difference. I said that they are nerfed down. Way down infact so that the traits can balance them out.
Yes obiouvsly there isn’t a huge difference (still you will confirm your performance are better). As i said, it’s not a gear based game, with maths before start. (Luckly).
No doubt, i met a lot of brainless 80s, while i met a lot of talented lower levels. When 80, they are precious allies to have fun.
I myself joined some exp before be an 80, i was the one with less deaths then any other 80s of my group. But c’mon, i find a 35 on exp funny. After all, how many 35 with full gold set+gold weapons (talented too)are around? Maybe 0.5% of the playerbase.Said this: why the hell farm exp stressing yourself when 35, when the first gear you can get is an 80 one
As for taking 35’s i do it because they want to do the zone. Infact i’ve take as low as a 31 before into the EM AC zone, and finished it. As for how many out there have rare level gear i really cant commit on this. I had it at that level but i was also a crafter and harvested my mats i needed as the TP was down at that time.
The names are game wide. Given i can go and play as a guest on any server without transfering kinda makes sense.
I just wish they made a dunguen that is not for the casual gamer. A dunguen that is Mission kitten impossible. That way, the casual gamers can keep theire story modes, and the “few” rest of us, can get a real challange.
Crafting end-game.Legendary = you all know how much time that takes.
PvE end-game today =Explorer mode. Which is easy for alot of people.
is it realy that hard to understand? If you have a level 80 character, you have more than enough time to play this game.
Realy, is it so difficult to understand that we want a dunguen you simply cannot complete? unless you spend houres and weeks prepearing tacs. we play this game to get new experiance, and to get challanged do we not?.
I realy wish they made a Hardcore dunguen on steroids, where the normal story mode is the same challange that Explorer mode is today., and that the Explorer of this dunguen was hardcore mode was on steroides. That way it is acctully a prestige to complete it Explorer mode… Most players out there will not complete everything in this game. Thats how simple it is. While others want more challange right away. Challanges that not everyone will be able to complete.
Actually you play the game to have fun. If you dont enjoy a part of the game dont play it simple as that. As for the dungeons they are made for your average group of COMPETENT players. Notice i said competent. This meaning decent players using good communication that are use to playing with each other and work well together. Currently i do the EM’s with Pugs. Granted before we do any area thats kinda harsh we take the time to explain the fight and figure out what we need to do that fight to make it as easy as possible. Most zones i dont see more than a death or two. This is doing it with pug’s.
Wow I think you missed my point in every aspect. we are a group that communicate well, and we have farmed right about everytihing that isent bugged, for mains and alts.
We are looking for more challange.
That beeing said, I allso explain every fight down to the detail, perhaps to detailed for sertain people to make the dunguen less of a nightmare when going with Pug’s.So tbh, I did not see your point, for my wish for a hardcore dunguen one bit. Do you refuse me to have a hardcore dunguen?
Sorry it actually wasent aimed at you. I agree with what you said. Ment to actually say that and kinda forgot i had quoted. by the time i got done with the first little statement. The rest was explaining to the other players who and what the dungeons are aimed at and how to get threw them. Dident mean to offend ya as it was actually just to reiterate your point and add to them.
I didn’t mention any difficulty anywhere, 1 reply saying pugs and another saying it. I said Fun, big difference.
And the dungeons are fun for the crowd they were/are intended for. Most of the “Feedback” You see complaining about difficulty is infact by puggers which the dungeons were not designed for. You said they should listen to feed back. Well issue with that is the feedback is not by the intended crowd. Now those complaining about bugs. Thats completely different.
Ermm there not fun for me, I’m sure they were intended for me too.
If there not fun for you. Move on then. Point of the game is to not do what you dont find fun. Content you dont find fun in the end is not ment for you.
Edit: Also since my clicking seems to be ahead of my typing. What would make it fun for you. And if you tell me look at the feedback frankittenhat would put you into what i view as the pugger or give it all to me now crowd.
Look at all the feedback, you seem quite active around here pretty sure you have the time
Seriously though 1 of the things i hate is trash with to much hp it makes me feel like I’m throwing sponges at them instead of deadly attacks it don’t make it any harder it just makes it more drawn out thus equaling less fun.
While i do agree the trash mobs get a bit um I guess old. What else are you going to do. In most cases your not ment to feel like a super human and be able to solo threw the trash on your own with a blindfold and your hands tied behind your back. Your ment to be mortal. Kinda the point of the dungeons. Now something i do wish they would do is just make all mobs mini bosses that way it feel more like im fighting other beings instead of mindless forum troll’s. Yes i went there as trash mobs for the most part kinda feel like it. But the trash is ment to be the time sink given so far a decent party can blow threw any boss i have seen in just a minite or two tops.
Also i seen what ya did there.
Feeling super human and throwing sponges are at opposite ends, needs a balance you see
I should have asked this sooner but what exactly do you play? I play a hybrid guardian and have never felt like im throwing sponges. Granted sometimes i with my strikes showed a little more but only way i can see that is if they showed where my strikes landed and you saw the body being carved up. Which would be seriously cool but also a nightmare for the dev team to create.
For what it’s worth Ranger and b4 any l2p comments dw i know what I’m doing lol
Been a while since i played ranger. What kinda build? Glass cannon or you have some vit and armor?
Problem is the feed back is by puggers in general. These dungeons were not made with puggers in mind.
Must be great having loads of friends who play Guild Wars 2, and a strong online network of people just waiting to play dungeons with you. After all it’s not about what YOU can do it’s about your team working as one. I’m happy for you to have that, i’m sure that despite the fact i’m probably just as skilled a player as you, you deserve that armour and I don’t. because you’re fortunate and your friends play.
Actually i pug threw dungeons as i currently only have 4 people including my self playing the game. If your as skilled as me quit crying over it and do it. Its as simple as that.
I love how everyone assumes that if you want legendarys to be LEGENDARY then you have a “WoW” mindset. Do any of you kids remember epics in EQ? this set the stage for time sink crap like legendarys to ACTUALLY BE BETTER. I’m not in to cosplay if I drain my free time on something like a legendary I want to gratification of being able to smash face on the battlefield.
Then the good news for you is you dont need to get a legendary. This is not EQ this is not WoW. This is GW and the carrot so to speak is the appearance and not the stats. If that isent good enough and you need a stat advantage to make it worth your time maybe you should move on.
Any idea when the character appearance change is actually going to be available?
When its ready.
Ok joke’s aside they havent said yet. Just that it is something they are working on and to watch the BLTP.
Truthfully I find the Spear is better for dps, but the Trident is loads better for survivability, because the #1 skill for Trident on Guardians not only bounces to hit multiple enemies, it will also heal allies, or yourself, if it bounces to you.
Combine that with the ‘Hold the Line’ and ‘Save Yourselves!’ shouts, and Signet of Resolve for decent healing and you get to be pretty tough to take down underwater, add in Sanctuary for the times when you really need a bit of breathing room and you’re near unkillable.
@Sunspear General: I’m not aware of a Guardian spear skill that does any sort of knockback. The #5 skill actually pulls them in close to you, the #4 skill pushes your character back away from them, and #3 blinds enemies around you, but nothing knocks enemies back.
General is pribally refering to the 4th skill and not realizing that it knocks himself back instead of the mob.
Yes, i suggested a group kick days ago when attempting to abuse of it. Wondering if it will be implemented (obiouvsly in a coherent way)
Well it is currently group kick but only takes i think 3/5 to pass the kick. Now i will admit i have kicked others before when reforming the group but i always explain after there gone or if someone asks me while the kick option is up as to why i started the kick.
