Ill admit I stopped reading like 2 posts down. I cant answer for everyone but the reason i play at melee range instead of ranged is well i enjoy it. Sure i could play at ranged but theres two flaws to that idea.
1: Who has agro is determined by who’s closest to the mob. Without melee characters those super squishy ranged glass cannon types would never be able to play that style.
2: Melee to me atleast is a greater challenge. For those of us who perfer challenge we will always seek it reguardless of if theres something thats “Better” according to someone else.
My view of dungeons is that while there almost impossible for a group of glass cannons if you go at the built to handle the different roll’s they have a nice challenge to them without just being stupidly hard. Also while compaired to most mmo’s 5 deaths might not seem like much the point in my eyes is to not die. All to often anymore people dont care about death. I grew up in the age of mmo’s where if you died you paid for it. There were corpse runs and if you got so stupid you could not survive it might as well be game over as one death was basically a nerf to your character by 20% or more. Today’s crowd doesent care if they die because theres no penalty to such. When i hit 80 i was shocked when i heard of people in the 50 to 60 range with over 200 deaths. At 80 i had slightly over 50. Even now that i’ve been 80 for a little while im only at a total of 81 deaths. Yet i hear of people doing 20-30 deaths a dungeon. Makes me think they need to slow down and look at there character again.
I have no condition damage and as i add more power its damage goes up.
Well if its a craftable rune should be able to be made by one of the armor making professions.
Edit: Just took a quick look threw my crafting recipy site’s and that rune appears to not be craftable.

Ya i hate to admit it but in general the exotics going on the tp tend to be close to at cost or slightly less.
I’d say the fix for this would be to reverse the chances of crafting materials (fine ingredients and salvageables for leather, cloth) and item drops… make pre-made gear the rarer drops and crafting materials abundant. That way material prices would drop and finished products would be more in demand.
I second this. Infact i posted this although no where as elegant in the sujestions area.
I would say artificer and jeweler are the cheapest ones, if you are buying mats off the TP.
Only problem with JC is the last 15 or 20 points will run you 60ish silver per piece of jewelery due to the ecto’s you need. If you have no issues getting the 3 ecto’s per rare you will need then jc isent a bad choice.
Personally if you want go with whatever armor/weapons you want and go with the crit damage % on your jewelery. Gives you a balance between the two stats.
At that range no. But at the 3 stat armor you get berserker’s which is power/precision/critdamage.
You only need one or the other. But well if your trying to craft your legendary’s already why not max all of them?
Personally it looks to me like the rascal’s is much more armored. And given its armor makes sense to me. But if you dont like it theres always the normal transmutation stones! Which are not useable on level 80 gear so might as well.
Zealous Blade heals you for 25 HPs per hit, that’s next to nothing; put those 5 points somewhere else until that trait is fixed.
What level is that at and is it with healing power gear?
Pretty sure it’s base 25, no modifiers allowed. Also, it’s a grandmaster trait, hence why Zeal is a horrible line unless you’re a spirit weapon guardian (imo).
Eh i’ve looked at it but never actually used it is why i asked. Everything else we have scales greatly with healing power. If this doesent my guess is its pribally a bug.
The guardian’s ranged weapons lack massively in WvW and especially the scepter is extremely boring & not fun to use in both PvE and WvW, mainly because of the ridiculously slow projectile speed and the lack of a chained attack.
It may lack but its better than doing nothing while your on the defense. Thats why i made sure to say when DEFENDING your keep. If you go out to melee at this point your just going to die.
Your argument fails when you realize that arenanet does not set the prices for ectos. The market determine that other mats are less valuable than Ectos but that’s besides the point.
I can tell you that powerful bloods(400) more than ectos on certain days, also the TP is global not server based. AND I can tell you that getting gossamer, leather, ecto and blood is much harder than getting ectos. Anyways, if you cant understand that then further discussion with you is pointless. the point being overall, jewelrycrafting has it easy compared to the other crafters.
Frankly it doesent matter if ANet sets the price or not. That has nothing to do with the this discussion. As for your powerful blood, guess what there not used in the level 80 rare craft armor/weapons, where as the Ecto’s are for JC, and they are always between 20-30 silver. But all of that is also besides the fact. In the end there is no reason to have a mat every other class only needs for exotic and make it required for JC rare. ALSO to point something out to you that you seem to fail to realize. Blood is only required for Berserker’s. While those globs are required for each and every rare craft jewelery there is which makes it much more expensive.

What level is that at and is it with healing power gear?
You can get it by mf as you said. Thing is Dawn is a random loot. Best bet is to grind the cash and buy it unless your very very lucky.
Your argument falls on two fronts.
1. you are giving ectos a higher value than every other mats and it is NOT. I have more ectos than I have level 300 poisons.
2. jewelrycrafting requires FAR less mats to craft each item than almost any other crafts. But more importantly, you seem to be giving ectos some arbitrarily higher value than the other mats, which which again is not.I just leveled my jewelrycraft to 400 today it took me last time AND money to do it than it did for my LW and huntsman.
One Glob of Ecto goes for more than 3 times more than any other craft mat on my server. So while it may only be 3 i can tell you on my server those 3 instantly make it cost more than the 15 fine mats i need to craft a rare on my armorsmith. Add the fact he still needs 15 items that run simular cost to my 15 fine mats and he has a reason to complain.
From my experience ranged guard is for pve only or when your defending a keep in WvW.
I personally like the fact they make a battle feel like a battle. Frankly i love the fact they swarm me with monsters. It feels like im actually at war. It gets me into the story. Its the first game thats ever done that for me and its amazing.
Let me guess… you’re not playing a non-toughness specced clothie?
While my main is a toughness heavy guardian. I actually also play a thief and ele. I enjoy all of them. I’ve just learned how to pull back behind the front line when needed.
Ok so I, like so many others, see over and over the complaint’s of the crafting community about the drop rate’s of fine crafting mats. My Suggestion is to increase the drop rates of them. Frankly right now gear drops way more often than the mats. Given you need 3-15 of the fine mat’s per piece of gear we should be getting atleast 5 pieces of the fine mat’s per piece of dropped gear. That would bring crafting in line with non crafted gear and seriously help out out crafting community.

Are you asking if jewelery with power/toughness/condition damage exist?
The reason hes complaining is because for his RARE gear he needs 3, then he still needs the 5 for his EXOTIC. While he understands the EXOTIC as every other profession needs it he does not under stand why he needs 3 for RARE when no other class needs it.
Thanks for the Feedback.
Again I hope nobody is exploiting this. It needs to be fixed. Posted on the bugforums
Its not an exploit. Its just an unexpected game machanic. Exploit would be something that is game breaking and gains you something. This just kinda works against the smaller races and was something they pribally just overlooked. Or its working as intended. Who knows.
No divinity affects your normal stats and crit damage %.
My advise is figure out what YOU want to do. Then go to the grandmaster traits and look what all the traits of that line do. Once you figure out what they all do plan out what you want. Me for example i wanted to be more support/tanky. I looked threw my traits and found out 0/0/20/30/20 was the best build for me.
I tend to leave my virtues alown for the most part because i have other ways to provide aoe aegis. Only time i pop my virtue aegis is when i have nothing left to pop.
Here is what I think is actually the problem with crafting: the xp you can get off of crafting one level worth of a single crafting component is more than what you need to craft the matching crafting component, AND the weapons you can make with those crafting components, before the xp level gets surpassed cutting off xp gain. But you can’t salvage components. Example: I can make 150 Jute Mask Paddings without making a single Rawhide Mask Strap using the craft all button, and my crafting level will fly up above the level that lets me get xp from making any of the Rawhide Mask Straps. It also ends up above the level that lets me make Masks using Rawhide Mask Straps and still gain xp. And above the level that I would get any xp from actually using the Jute Mask Paddings to make masks. Or make any xp from making the insignias that go with any of those components. But I cant salvage the Jute Mask Paddings. So what do I do? I dump the Jute Mask Paddings in the market and try and sell them to people. But EVERYONE is doing that so no one needs em.
Should I have hit the Craft All button? No, probably not, but @ 4 in the morning when I decided to just hit up a crafting station before I went to bed after 8 hours of playing I wasn’t really in the mood to figure out at what point all the xp gain was gonna disappear. And not everyone wants to sit around mucking with excel charts to perfectly level up in the most efficient manner. I’ve already surpassed my crafting level weapon and armor level by leveling my character, so none of the stuff I make is gonna be worth anything anyway. I don’t really care WHAT I make, I just want my level up so I can get back to a level that lets crafting actually have a point again. 150 Jute Mask Paddings all made in one go using the craft all button works just as well for leveling my crafting as actually going to the effort of figuring out what all I need to make the armors the component is for.
If you look in the market, you will see that the crafting components are WAAAAY cheaper to buy than the ingredients themselves are. All you need to do is buy up the uber cheap components necessary to make one item, make the insignias to go with em, do a discovery, then hit craft all. I jumped up about 50 crafting levels in a day yesterday for either leatherworking or huntsman (I can’t remember which) doing this. If you could salvage the crafting components and get the ingredients back this wouldn’t be the case.
I think they just need to taper out the xp cutoff levels a little more, or let you salvage components, and all the problems would disappear.
Ill just point out toward the end of my crafting makeing 1 subcomponite netted me like 3000 to 5000 xp. While doing a final combine in discovery was over 150000 xp. This was with armorsmith though.
Really disappointed with this new trait. Hammer is the power weapon, not crit one. I have 4% of crit with it, how I suppose to use this trait? And I won’t even mention about sigils, which works for crit only, and only water one is proper for me (which is weak and long CD). Where is my heal on hammer? I’d ask Arena to look one more time at ‘warpriest’ from other franchise, please, do it.
Only 4% crit??? What level are you?
Pretty sure it’s a flag 15% crit chance. Anet tooltip is pretty straightforward.
If that’s the case, the builder I’m referring to is inaccurate in its calculations. From 16% it bumped me to 18% with the Trait equipped. But wouldn’t the 15% top-up be OP?
Its a grandmaster trait. If ya look at them there mostly all pretty powerful.
Aegis isn’t even great in small scale confrontations. It only takes one hit to neutralize it. Is this so hard to get? You make it seem like it absorbs or blocks even medium amounts of damage/attacks.
Aegis is very nice. It blocks those one hit kill’s. If you play smart aegis is the difference between taking down a boss and having to do a graveyard zerg.
Edit: As for your " People need to realize that blind and aegis aren’t exactly excellent deterrents of damage." You need to realize that those two when combined with VoR and the right gear is why guardian’s have the reputation that they do of being beasts.

I think it ranks alongside the sword as our least party-centric weapon, whereas I’d say the hammer and staff are the greatest. The only area affect that you can use for the group is condition removal, and other than that you just have your blind. True, you do have a symbol, but the GS/S do not grant a good amount of bonuses to the group.
Just want to add that depending on your playstyle the greatsword can be great group support. Its nice for grouping up mobs trying to run out of aoe or pull stuff away from party member. And as you said the condition purge is nice. I’ve saved parties due to that one skill. Had everyone group up and hit that combo. Its all about playstyle. If used in the right hands all our weapons can be great for support is what i beleave.
By doing that you sacrifice health and toughness. Since the Guardians health is already one of the lowest, it’s very hard to justify it.
The cleric set I use is toughness, power and healing. It’s plenty, I’m pretty close to immortal with my 3 condition removal utilities and the signet of resolve.
With toughness, spike damage becomes a non issue (save boss encounters) and with our natural regen plus mace #2 you have plenty of recovery between hits.
I personally use rare cleric jewelery at the moment and am working on combination of a full set of rare/exotic soldier weapons and armor. My guess is ill be 18000 to 20000 hp have very very high toughness and power and good healing power. As i said earlier i already feel like a god due to our virtue’s and my play style when used with them. If these changes are made i wont just feel like a god i will be a god.
Dont know if this has been said or not but jute is easy to get. Get yourself a salvage kit. Then go kill human’s. Break down all the light armor you get. You will have a ton of jute fairly fast.
Items From Crafting Should be a bit Stronger to Compete with Drops
in Crafting
Posted by: SiNoS.2147
The crafting is fine the way it is. The point of crafting is not to have super powerful armor but to be able to get the stats you want easily.
One thing i would add is make it like the HoM vender gear where once you unlock it there are unlimited copies of the appearance item you can claim.
All those posts about this weapon being ‘support’ and that being for ‘tanking’ or whatever – forget about them. You’ll only need greatsword/sword+focus combo. And you will use sword/focus only to survive/run away. Greatsword has highest damage, huge AoE from auto-attack, AoE pull, AoE symbol and AoE blind.
It goes like this: run in the middle of 3-5 mobs, Pull them, Purging flames, leap, symbol, Virtue of Justice, whirl, 3 auto-attack hits, collect phat lootz, pull next mob pack.
Saying to forget about everything but GS really just isn’t playing the class to the best of it’s ability in my opinion. Personally I run GS but I also use Sword/Torch and Sword/Focus (when I want the extra blind and survivability instead of DPS) and constantly switch up in battle. I couldn’t imagine playing the class only using GS. If I wanted to use one weapon only, I would still be playing my Ranger. lol
A lot of people using only or mainly the greatsword i beleave pribally play more of the glass cannon builds. As such they have no need for the more support/control side of our class. A shame as thats where we really do shine.
Virtue of Justice
The passive for this is just too weak to be of use. I suggest the passive on this get some kind of positive effect added on, such as chance to gain fury on 5th swing. the burn is too weak.
I cant speak for this is i havent played with the dps side of things. But from what i hear this actually is just fine if traited for it.
Virtue of Resolve
Heals from this is far too weak for a passive. even with signet of mercy and traited for extra heals, its not at all effective.
Fully specced into this ill just say its a beast. Wont Save a stupid party but then again were not ment to. It does however make a major difference for a skilled party. At the moment i heal everyone around me 200 to 250 a second with just this. Thats not including any of my other skills that give aoe regen or a flat heal. Added with the fact regen stacks with this its already a very powerful skill. Its fine how it is.
Virtue of Courage
suggestion, to allow this to stack two times, or when the duration is increased when others ally it to you, that it stays on the ally, but has a invisible cooldown period of 1 second to allow it to block again, instead of wasting the aegis and block.
Ok so this skills kind goes both ways with me. Cant even count the number of times i see something charging look for my aegis dont see it then pop a clicky just for this to recharge right before the charged skill hits me waisting my clicky. Stacking would be nice. But then again. Aegis is a skill that in my eyes is so powerful you cant very well let it stack or guardians would never take any damage.
Virtue of Mercy
new Virtue idea to replace Signet of Mercy skill, which revives nearby ally and creates a shield around them for 3 seconds, and cleansing allies near the revived ally. the passive for this to gain swiftness every 4th attack for 1 sec.
Ok while i think it would be cool to have something like this, I also know this would make us OP. Totally and completely op.
So everything said with the changes you want here ill just say and no disrespect to you but i currently feel like a god. I can two man champ’s without issue currently. Give me these skill’s and i will be a god able to solo champs my level without a single problem.

I do the same thing. Except i use staff skill 4 to buff to 12 stacks of might then proceed to lay down the law. Fun times fun times.
Theres two things i carry my GS for. Thing number on is skill 5. Being able to group up mobs is very nice. The other is for the condition purge combo when combined with save yourselfs. Nothing like pulling all condition onto yourself then just dumping them. Also a condition purge on a 10 second timer is very very nice.
Can I also verify whether level 35 Armoursmith recipes exist? I could not discover the Iron Legion Armour set.
Im 400 armorsmith and i have not heard of this armor set as a craftable set.
I’ve noticed that the battle presence trait in the honor line works even if I have activated virtue of resolve and it is on cooldown. Is it intended to work even while the virtue is in cooldown? It’s quite odd since I don’t get the passive effect but others do.
I noticed this as well. But when looking at Battle Presence wording it says “Nearby allies gain Virtue of Resolve’s passive effect.” That being said makes me think they dont actually gain Virtue of Resolve given the buff it gives them is different than the buff we have. Also given Absolute Resolution doesent seem to affect Battle Presence’s Virtue of Resolve on allies i honestly think its working as intended.
My only problem with this skill is after first half second the bubble can be walked through even while you’re channeling. I always evade roll right after I cast it because there is no point channeling it.
I blow it up for an aoe heal unless were getting hit by arrows.
Its pribally the thief human culture armor.
Um i think there is a bag you can craft that prioritizes craftable mats.
Are you implying that this is the same as consumables?
Eh sorry i misread. I read it as craftables for some reason. Carry on and ignore the sleepy SiNoS.
Its stats are power toughness and vitality.
Not really, the synergy isn’t there for sword/shield. Sword is more of an offensive weapon for guardian. Now mace/shield on the other hand…
Theres nice synergy between then. Sword has a fast recast teleport and a channeled ranged block. Shield ofcourse has a damage reducer and the wonderful soa. Love using soa to put some distance between the mob and my team then teleporting to them. Also nice to have the channeled block.
I personally find the grove to the the closest but with the dr waypoints i can port back and forth very fast so i tend to use dr most of the time given im human and spend more time there.
I always have a gs if not but for the simple condition purge combo. My 2nd weapons are eather sword/shield if im being more defensive at the moment. Or staff for major pew pew. I know staff and pew pew in same sentence is funny but channel the 12 might then switch to gs = pew pew for a good bit.
