Just because we dont have a ranged that most would view as viable doesent mean its not more the OP’s play style.
Please do not charge us to "relearn" professions when we reach 400 in crafting.

I dont view it as a charge to “relearn” the skill but as more of a rental fee for using the crafting station.
I agree with this, at the moment at low level crafting, i have tested out most of the different crafting skills and it does feel more like a rent the workbench rather than paying paying to “relearn”.
I’m guessing when people get all their different crafting skills to 400 then they are probably likely to stay with their 2 main skills that benefit them more, either in money making or helping their guild.
If im not mistaken the cost to switch a skill costs the same as a trait respec which at tops is like 3-3.5 silver.

So i take it that the crafting tab under your hero sheet doesent show all your learned crafts then? Wonder if thats a bug given it shows your recipies but you can not craft from it.
Heres a screenshot I took myself on live http://imgur.com/1K965 people who played closed beta have confirmed that this is one of those items needed. I wont give you their names but lets just say some of the people actually show up in the video where you can see the two legendary GS.
Wasent asking for names. I know if i was them that i wouldent want to be bothered. But i leave you all now and shall be watching out for the first to get any of the legendary’s. If you happen to see someone get it message me if you would so i can pay my respect to them for the achievement.
Gift of Exploration, Gift of Battle, Bloodstone Shard and 250 Obsidian shards were used for intermediate item 1 on the closed beta. We know for a fact these items also combine on live so dont give me that bullcrap.
You can stop with the attitude. I’ve not been hostel to you at all. Ill ask wheres a post or link to someone saying it was used in the beta. Also as I already said. What was used in a beta may not be used now. Things do change.
Mate I suggest you go read that thread on gw2guru because im not going to explain it to you when all the information is right there.
You need Mystic Clovers and that is 100% sure, you can take my word for it or you can read the information in the link I provided on the first page.
Another fact is that the only recipe we know so far gives a random material which means it will take aprox 1,5 million karma to make the Mystic Clovers that you need.
I’ve read threw it and theres nothing there that says any of them got the recipy from beta. Now something i did see which would make sense to me is something might be bugged with the forge and/or the legendary recipy’s are disabled. But taking a speculation/theory thread and claiming it fact is far from fact. Ill leave you to your thought on it though. As all i even posted for was to ask that you do not say something is fact when infact its only theory. Like i said till these weapons are made nothing is fact.
Melee or ranged as well.
Annnnnd thats where you are wrong, the Gifts from Miyani are not used for all legendaries but all other items are when they say “used to craft legendary items”. This includes Gift of Exploration, Gift of Battle, Icy Runestone, Mystic Clover, Bloodstone Shard and Obsidian Shard.
One major problem with that idea. You cant add all those items to one recipy. For example the weapon Twilight will use Gift of Metal, Dusk of Rage, Gift of Darkness and one other item. It will not use Gift of Exploration, Gift of Battle, Icy Runestone, Mystic Clover, Bloodstone Shard, Obsidian Shard, Gift of Metal, Dusk of Rage, and Gift of Darkness. Theres not enough space in the mystic forge for it.
Just curious but how do you know its correct? Has anyone gotten the legendary live yet? If your going from beta things change from beta and this might have been one of them.
No one on live have made a legendary, we know from the beta that you need Mystic Clover and people have already made Mystic Clover. The randomness of the recipe means that you have to spend 1,5 million karma to get 250 Mystic Clovers.
Ok well please avoid saying you know 100% that its this as till its actually crafted nothing is 100%.
Yes it is the description on the item still says that you need it to craft legendary weapons (which means all of them). We know the recipe 100% for Mystic Clover because people have made that item on live the problem is that the recipe doesnt have a 100% outcome for mystic clovers.
Multiple items say there used to craft legendary. But not all of them are used on each legendary is all im saying. Im not saying you dont know the mystic clover recipy. Im saying till the legendary is actually crafted we dont know its recipy 100%. Till that point your just hoping its the same as the beta one which may not be.
Shield of Absorption:
Detonate for a moderate heal on everyone inside.
Activate Combo Field: Light for condition removal and widespread retaliation.
Interrupt enemy casts.
Knock back enemies.
Absorb any ranged attacks, including (I think?) cones. Not bad. The long cooldown does hurt, but I think what makes Shield of Absorption particularly odd is that it appears on a shield.
A shield that has no Block function whatsoever. I really think Shield of Absorption should switch places with Shield of Wrath from Focus.
Havent tested SoA in a few days but last i know it dident absorb all ranged attack’s as ele blasted right threw it with there auto attack. Only thing it absorbed was ranged projectiles like arrows and bullets.
Thanks for the confirm. I could’ve sworn it works on cone attacks too, like Drake breaths, but I guess not.
Eh im not confirming it as like i said been a few days since i’ve had to use the skill. But i know it still dident block ele attacks after they fixed its heal ability. It may have been patched again to absorb all ranged now.
Um i think there is a bag you can craft that prioritizes craftable mats.
Just curious but how do you know its correct? Has anyone gotten the legendary live yet? If your going from beta things change from beta and this might have been one of them.

Have you guys looked at the wiki at all? http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Legendary_weapon
Has a list of legnedary weapons and the mats there are 2 legendary great swords btw
Twilight and Sunrise each require either dawn of rage for sunrise and dusk of rage for twilight. The wiki is not written by ArenaNet employees, 90% of the information about legendary items on the wiki is false information.
All I see if we think we have the correct recipe and we think the calculation for the randomness of the mystic clover is correct
How about you find out if the recipe is correct first and how about you find out how many clovers you get with a certain number of combines
Then compare it to the other legedary recipes and what they have to do to get theirs
After all that is done then perhaps there may be a legitamate complaint behind the whole thing
But really in a game where just about everything you do gains karma and the fact that you are talking about what is called a legendary weapon, seeing that it would take a few months to get, I don’t really see an issue
And I don’t see it as a grind either. I don’t do events for Karma and I don’t do wvw for Karma I do those because I enjoy doing them so that is not a grind.
I’m sorry you don’t have your epic 2 weeks after the games was released thoughThe recipe is 100% correct, we do however not know if there is more than one recipe and thats what im hoping for.
Just curious but how do you know its correct? Has anyone gotten the legendary live yet? If your going from beta things change from beta and this might have been one of them.
I discovered 12 armor sets after i hit 400 and went back to fill out my known recipies. So yes you can still disco.
There are others that cant be crafted. 3 of them i beleave.
according to that list it has to be the dawn of rage. Although ill admit i havent seen any other weapon named dawn.
Combine them in the discovery tab. Most of the rune’s i’ve made needed atleast 3 slivers/shards.
Gear you can craft is no better than gear you loot. Difference is its easier to get exact stats you want if you craft instead of just taking whatever drops.
Personally between the heal it does and the ranged projectile protection this single skill has saved me and my parties many times. Its just about timing and knowing when it needs to be used.
Ill just say that i infact dinged 400 on my crafting skills 2 levels before i got to 80. It wasent hard. Expecially when i could sell my raw materials and buy premade componites and turn a nice little profit. All i had to worry about was the blood, scale, and totems that i needed to make my gear. But that was simple as i figured out early on which creatures dropped when and targeted those when i was out.

This link might help some.
No, it also breaks with IMMUNE when they’re not full health.
EDIT: My bad. You’re right. They still regen.
THANKS!
Your welcome.
While yes it says immune they do infact regen hp if there total is below max. I use it and love it. Now i do know that Absolute Resolution does not seem to apply to the passive effect on allies though.
No. Vote systems attract more trolls. If you want to put someone down, you still have to put your unique name out there. It takes at least a shred of guts. Vote systems are generally based on anonymity. Guess what will happen.
Rating stuff has a much lower threshold and will end up with most threads dipping into below average ratings in my experience. Voting to straight-up lock threads will only empower trolls to anonymously shut down any discussion they don’t like.
True. I dident think of that. Atleast the mods are great at getting rid of troll threads.
Staff #4 + Altruistic Healing while in a zerg group = 2nd Heal Skill. Seriously, the thing can heal 6k+ hp.
I agree. Its a powerful skill. One of the best skills to boost everyone around you’s damage and throw decent aoe healing.
So what do you other guardians think? Do we need a thread voting system that will ban or atleast block troll threads without the use of a mod?
Only shout’s i have issues with is save yourself’s, and hold the line. The others normally only are needed by melee with my build/play style. But watching back lines die to conditions because i cant hit them with my shouts makes me a sad guardian.
Holy hell, I get the guy near almost death and he gets FULL health back… ? Like, FULL HP ? I am specced to turn buffs into conditions yet it only takes off a couple of buffs and the dude just rebuffs fast as hell and takes the conditions off himself.
So he did one of two things. He used the skill 5 of his elite which takes around 5 seconds to cast after casting the elite which take another 2 seconds or so to cast. Or he has really low hp and used healing signet.
Not only that but he has more health than I do, and does more damage than I do. Wtf?
Something here doesent sound right due to the first part you said he healed to full. As a necro you start with over 18k hp. As a guardian if i dump into vit i can get over that but i dont have any damage so to speak. Not to mention if i have healer elite skill that further nerfs me. Now if he infact doesent have vit gear hes setting around 10k or so hp which is impossible for a necro to be that low.
I’m supposed to be spec’d to deal with guardian lmao… I mean you’ve got to be kidding. I have a spell that is directly supposed to counter them (turns buffs into conditions) and it didn’t do jack diddly squat to this guy in the long run.
Just to point out we also have a skill that converts all conditions on us to boons. Or if rolling greatsword can purge all conditions every 10 seconds.
So all things being said you very clearly dont know guardians. Yes we can hit like a truck or we can be the bane of your conditions but we wont be all of it at once. As i said before you sound like you cant play. Or you have no idea what you were fighting. One or the other.
What exactly is your damage if you spec’d like this guy did? I want to compare it to my own. Also I think this guy had a shield and a 1hand sword or something if memory serves. He was shooting ranged blue attacks at me, he also stunned me into a blue circle at one point.
Dude it’s pretty easy to push buttons and dodge at the correct times… lol saying I can’t play a necromancer after 200 hours of playing one is insulting kid.
Playing for 200 hours doesent mean you can play, it just means you spent a lot of time on the character. And specced to take on a condition necro i would do at tops maybe 200-300 damage non crit. Sword and shield im not going to have massive condition removal. Most likely he had a greatsword. So over all for condition necro he pribally was around 20k-23k hp with a full vit build with healing elite and multiple condition removal abilities. Hes not going to be doing damage. As for calling me kid. Get off your high horse. You need to do some research on a class before you start crying in there threads.
I’m not on a high horse, you apparently are though. May want to come down from up there bro.
Your class is straight up better than mine in every single way, that is obvious, and your telling me I need to research it more? For what lol? So I can read in detail why and how your class is so much better than mine is? I think I’ll pass.
My class is not any better.
LOL! Sorry, stopped reading here. If you want me to take you seriously then you better post something with some actual substance and actual context in what we’re discussing at the moment. Necromancer is one of the worst classes in spvp right now, and you’re telling me your guardian class, one of the most OP classes in the game, is not any better?
Wow…. you have certainly never played spvp before have you? Otherwise you would know first-hand how bad necros are.
Its op in your opinion. I personally am about 50/50 when facing a necro. It depends on there build. If there condition heavy with no hp. Its not even close. If they run normal damage with some vit they normally beat me. As for flat ignoring a post strictly because you dont agree with the first part is very childish. Guardian’s here have been nice enough to deal with your trolling and actually help you against our own class. You refuse to listen. Im done with you as its obvious you have no intent on to listen to what the community is telling you and rather just whine and cry.

My class is not any better. The reason i tell you to research it is there is a way to counter all guardian builds if you know what to look for. For an anti condition guardian you need to drop your condition damage and roll into some power/vit gear. Then proceed to burn them with raw base numbers. Most condition countering guardians wont be able to survive that. It will be a long fight due to them healing but there not going to be able to deal with your 28-30k+ hp when you can actually deal damage to them. The only way to learn these counters is to learn the class your trying to counter. Which is a pvp 101 skill.

Ignore him. My guess is he encountered an heal spec guardian that was setup to counter conditions. Hes already posted this thread before and they removed it because its just a whine post. He does this in all the class threads. My guess is he just sucks as a player or is a total troll or both.
Personally i do use save your selves but i dont use the condition removal as i can just use the greatsword combo of symbol of wrath and whirling wrath to purge the conditions saving the skill slot for something else. Now i will admit that the conditions to boons has tempted me from time to time but i like my retreat’s aegis and runspeed buff.
I’ve been loving Guardian play, and I’ve had almost no issues with anything about the class.
One thing that isn’t quite rubbing me right is the staff abilities. Now it may well be personal preference but I thought I’d share my thoughts and see if anyone agrees.
1st ability – An AoE cone, ok it doesn’t feel powerful or anything but it will do
2nd ability – _Maybe I’m missing something here. I’m under the impression I can use this orb to heal allies, the problem is it always wants to fly in a straight line towards enemies. This makes it a little ineffective as if someone is on low health and wants a heal they usually are running AWAY from enemy targets :P _I feel this could be improved by a few options:
- Make the line it runs in a placement similar to aoe.
- Allow the orb to fly towards an ally that is targetted
- Completely scrap it’s current mechanic. Perhaps instead the orb could drop the sky onto enemies, doing damage to them and healing nearby allies.
3rd ability – no problems here
4th ability – Seems ok, maybe slightly reduce the cast time or allow movement whilst casting?
5th ability – A nice move, though again, reduced cast or movement whilst casting might make it a bit nicer, but not unbalanced.I really want to like the staff but I feel nerfed when using it compared to other weapon sets.
Anyone else feel the same?
1: The auto attack is nice if kiting multiple mobs. Little weak 1v1 but eh cant have it both ways.
2: Ok so the trick here is to tell team mates that if there running from the mob its hard to give them heals. Although i normally use this on cool down and dont really use it as an emergency heal.
3: With the right trait build this single skill can be very powerful. Frankly i love it.
4: Im with you. I would like to see this channeled faster as this is kinda the main heal and well 4 seconds is just rough for trying to spot heal the group if we got hit by aoe. So many times the mobs come and basically kill me before i get it off. The buff is nice though as a damage booster.
5: This skill i personally find useless as you can just go around it or if they have ranged kinda defeats the point of it. Only time i’ve found it nice is i see melee adds incoming from a door. Throw it on the door and it gives us 5 seconds to get ready for them.
Over all staff is a bit of a letdown to me as we really dont have any good ranged option imho. Wish this was balanced slightly more given how nice we are on melee. I want to feel like a battle cleric when i use my staff! Currently i’m far from that.
You can change orders I just haven’t figured out how yet. It is possible to get all armors for all characters.
Everything i’ve seen says we cant except the wiki which is from a quote from like 2010. Even in game it says that the choice cant be changed when you make it.
So, out of curiosity while playing with my friend (A mesmer) we compared all our stats. His gear is a little better, mesmers are more damage dealers than guardians, so I wasnt surprised to find his power, and condition damage higher than mine. What I was surprised by was…. I have 100 more vitality than he does, we are the same level. He has 1k MORE HP than I do. Also, him wearing light armor, had more toughness than I do, wearing heavy. Something doesnt seem right about this, and I’d like to hear everyones thoughts…. Maybe Armor means nothing except looks….. I guess any class can be front line, not just warriors and guardians.
So ill break this down to make it easier to read.
1: The hp difference would be hes a mesmer.
2: Does he have more Toughness or Armor? If its toughness hes pribally stacked heavy into it and might have traits boosting it like i do on my guardian. I currently have +200 toughness at 80 from traits. It maxes at 300 which is around 6 pieces of 80 gear worth of toughness.
Ill go on to add armor type in this game doesent mean a while lot. Anyone can build to be defensive. And thats kinda the point. So dont really let it get to you. Worry more about are you having fun. If so then just keep doing what your doing.
I miss Soldier gear
it seems it’s only available on gear under lvl 70.
The god venders also sell the stats on there gear. I know i’ve seen the soldier stats on some of the god vender sets.
Can you elaborate on these god vendors?
The god temple karma venders over in orr sell it. Level 80 rare vigil armor is also soldier.
How i do it for armor is i make 6 insignia’s of one type then make the full set of that type. I do the same with my weaponsmith. Although weaponsmith requires 8 insignia’s instead of 6.
For my armorsmith. I made 6 of one type of insignia them made one of each of the different parts. Total of 18 items. Then go to discovery and make the 6 pieces of armor. Normally it took me 1 to two sets of armor to reach the next tier of insignia’s.
The god venders also sell the stats on there gear. I know i’ve seen the soldier stats on some of the god vender sets.
Is it the nightmare court rune that hes talking about? If so its not crafted but bought from dungeon vender in LA.
Only thing on the tp with nightmare in it is the potions. Hince why i was asking what the rune did.
Whats the rune do? Never heard of it or seen it in my crafting search. I know its not an armorer craftable.
I’m planning to play this game for years, so why rushing to a legendary wapon within a few weeks after release? Its supposed to be hard! Supposed to be a challance. I’m not going to grind, but with simply play this game it might take longer, but in the end I will have a legendary wapon. But I will not have mindless grinded it, no I had fun while playing with friends and guildies. Maybe something to consider.
Look to GW1, the obsidian armour took years to get and was very special. You where proude to have one, i will be disappointed if I get the wapon within a year, while playing normal. That meens it was to easy to get.
Ya i remember back in the day of GW1 seeing people in obsidian. I would stop and give them a pat on the back because i knew what i took to get that armor set and they deserved it. I still to this day do not have it because i dident like the look of it personally. But doesent mean i did not give people there due that did the work.
Your welcome Rock.
The intent was for the satchels to require the same amount of materials as crafting the individual pieces. I’m not sure where this got broken for these, but I’ll take a look at it.
Actually i’m not sure that making the satchel’s component cost the same as all individual pieces’s component cost would make getting a satchel worth it either.
The cost of getting the satchel recipe is very significant, so much so that the only reason i’d ever want to get a satchel recipe is if crafting armor from it actually cost less, noticeably less, than crafting each individual piece.
Consider it a sort of “investment” that should reduce the cost of mass producing armor boxes of that specific type, that would make sense imho.
Interestingly enough, the cost (or effort rather) of getting the recipe used to be significantly lower if the database sites recipes are to be believed. That being said, I’m still not sure the Satchel itself would be worthwhile with the ingredients being equal. Unless making the satchel offers more player XP. Enough that choosing to make Satchel ends up being better for the player in terms of gaining SP at a noticeably faster rate than making them individually.
I view the satchels as a way to make a 1 slot item to house your armor set on the tp. I hit item cap on it all the time due to the massive amount of gear i sell on it. Would be nice to have 1 slot instead of 6 per armor type.
On guildwars2guru we are a bunch of players who have been trying to figure out how to make the Legendary weapon Twilight. Here is a link to the thread: http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/62812-crafting-twilight-speculation-and-how-to/#entry1906790
We have a list of items that we think you need to make the weapon. However the most interesting item is the Mystic Clover, we have come to the conclusion that you need 250 Mystic Clovers. The only known way of getting the Mystic Clover is by combining “10 Obsidian Shards + 10 Ectoplasm + 10 Crystals + 10 Mystic Coins”.
HOWEVER it is a random out come which means you have a chance of getting Mystic Clover, when taking into account that it is random and that you need 10 Obsidian Shards it basically takes aproximately 1,5 million, yes 1,5 million karma to get your 250 Mystic Clovers from this random recipe.
In addtion to the 1,5 million karma needed for the 250 Mystic Clovers you also need 525k karma to buy another 250 Obsidian Shards. This makes the total Legendary grind cost you aproximately 2 million karma. Asuming you spend 12 hours a day farming 50k karma it will take you 40 days to get 2 million karma. I have seen rediculous grinds before (Diablo 3 – Paragon lvl 100 comes to mind) but this grind blows everything else out of the water.
I see two options either the recipe costs a lot more than was originally intended or the Mystic Clover has its own recipe too (which of course would have to be much cheaper). So if anyone have any insight on a recipe to make Mystic Clovers in the Mystic forge please share.
From what i understand the legendary’s are on par with the original obsidian armor from gw1 which took months to get at first.
it seems it’s only available on gear under lvl 70.
