Why not both?
Have easier, pug friendly and less rewarding versions in the open world and harder, more complex and more rewarding versions as instanced guild missions. It would be similar to the difference between LFR and standard raids in WoW, and guild missions and Teq-style bosses are both intended to be ‘raid style content’.
I agree. Solo, Party, Open world. All with the same rewards.
Like feedback about what we talked about around horizontal and vertical progression?
Hey there,
We do encourage our developers to interact with players, but primarily here, on the forums. When we’re in game, it’s typically because we’re there to play and not as much to chat.
Tsss. No playing during work hours!
Phase 2? What was phase 1? :P
[Back after a year and surprised]… that there is nothing new. o-O
It’s sad, but true. There are always hackers, but at least they should get a perma ban.
where are they?
Where they’ve always been: scheduled to be released at the same time as EOTM, in March
Change that to May and I might believe you.
1. Wardian
2. Mesmalist
3. All other classes
WTB EXPANSION [URGENT!!]
and then right before falling asleep I might get in a quick solo hard mode
:P Solo hard mode could be Liadri difficulty. What about that? O_O
2000 hours should easily be enough to make enough money to buy about oh… 100 precursors or so? what have you been doing to get precursors? If the answer is anything besides “farming gold to buy one” you are doing it wrong.
1600 hours no precursors, not enough money to buy one. I play WvW.
Tbh, I don’t care about people being fat or not.
I wouldn’t mind there being some bulky characters.

They should have put in more options for those who hate zerging though.
I dced multiple times while having loading screen, shutting my client off completely. Didn’t have this before the patch.
I want more options. It’s okay that there are open world bosses, just don’t force me to do them!
I want instanced modes for killing these bosses, at my convenience, not at some silly timer that requires you to go into overflow 1 hour before it even spawns.
Give us:
- SOLO MODE
- PARTY MODE
- SOLO HARD MODE
- PARTY HARD MODE
For those saying that zerg content isn’t “zerg” content….
- It is not challenging on a player-level
- It is extremely laggy
- It is completed by a full map (~100-ish players)
>> Zerg content = by definition zerg content
Give me Tequatl & this wurm dude, Jormag and more in an instance and let me kill them solo OR with a group of 5. At least that way I could enjoy the content.
As the title implies, do you like open world zerging? Or would you rather prefer instanced content?
Instanced content ala GW1 all the way. Challenging, neither short nor too long, awesome, interesting.
Would be nice if we got content with party-size increase to 8 or 12.
Agree with this. Guild Wars 1 required 100x more skill than the average zerg boss killing.
No I do not. It is laggy, boring and doesn’t feel like you are accomplishing anything. You don’t get any evolution in skill. No fun & no reason to do it.
If they killed every single zerg with a huge nerf hammer, I’d be in favor.
So, are there PvE monsters in WvW again?
Tons… They usually run around in very large groups…
And they’re called “Black Gate Silver Champion [BuyMe]”
“I wish warrior didn’t have so few runaway skills.”
Not today… soooon.
One word:
Better.
Debatable. I like the soft-trinity system Anet has set up. It would work better if dungeons were designed in such a way that you couldn’t skip so many sections and mobs, but works fantastically in the PvP environment.
There is no trinity system currently in play in PvE. It’s a singularity.
If your team knows what it’s doing, it’s a duality of damage and support. What’s singular is the gear, not the roles. The problem with GW2 soft trinity is that control requires too much coordination (stripping Defiant in time to control a specific move) for too little return. In addition, control is mostly unnecessary in PvE.
Support? Don’t make me laugh, please… oops too late.
No but really nobody cares about support in a dungeon, sheesh all they care about is dissing as much damage as possible and might/fury boons are a part of dps, not support.
April last chance for me to really get into the game again. They say they will bring a feature update after the Living story ends (which is in may), so it better be good and worthy of a GW1 sequel. If it’s more ascended or legendary trash, I’ll be gone.
I played GW1 for over 6 years and sold dungeon runs and my assassin every day (and so did many others). It was common practice, this is no different and it’s about time people just accepted it. Although I wish they would fix the exploits in P2 arah.
bottom line – if no one is using exploits and they can successfully solo/duo a dungeon with the intend of selling the spots…then you have no right to screw with them and if you do, I hope you get banned.
I agree, it was a common thing in GW1. A lot of people did it, especially for very hard story missions that some people know how to solo. I never got scammed by anyone who was selling a mission and am actually quite grateful they helped me complete some harder things.
I’m waiting… for april.
Tengu seem the most likely choice of next playable race; but how about – in connection with an eventual return to Cantha – Anet went a little outside the comfort zone and revived the Wardens (GW1 wiki).
Who says we’ll see only 1 race unlocked in expansion? Maybe we might get multiple & multiple classes. I think only 1 race and class for 1 expansion would be pretty much a letdown anyways.
True; I wasn’t saying it’s one or the other, just suggesting the Wardens as an alternative to the usual suspects we see whenever talking about playable races. The devs (going with Colin’s statements previously) have been thinking about adding new playable races, but not many at a time according to an interview. Thus, I’m thinking Tengu likely to show up a lot sooner than we get a Cantha expansion. And for a Cantha expansion, possibly the Wardens…
Just imagine; Wardens as new playable race and of course they bring with them Ritualists (ok, I’ll dream on outside the forum…)
I loved ritualists though! Damage, healing, anything.

250 years have passed; Shiro is “gone” so maybe they can see past their somewhat limited role as Protectors of the Echovald Forest and are no longer zealous/mad about their intent to take it all out on humans but maybe for a plot in Cantha they can have Echovald as their starting zones and from there move out into the world.
They would look quite unique in character creation and are a humanoid (formerly human) race and maybe prove an interesting alternative to Sylvari as another “forest people” without Anet having to introduce the stereotypical elves/dwarves.
In my opinion for the GW universe; anyone asking for elves/dwarves; WoW -> that way or LotRo <- that way… embrace the fact that dwarves are extinct and elves are non-existant.

I’m not a lore buff so forgive any ignorance here but:
Cat people (ala FFXIV)?
Something like the Castanic or Aman from Tera would be very cool!We have cat people. While developing the charr, (especially the females), the devs decidedly went as far as they could from the stereotypical human who just happens to have cat ears and tail.
The races in Guild Wars use archetypes, but avoid stereotypes.
I agree, though, most of the GW2 universe is just a copy from GW1, which is the game that is deserving of all compliments. GW1 had the great lore and races. That isn’t a credit of GW2 and the new Anet.
GW2 itself is stereotype as it can get, watch the living story and the personal one.
Personally, with the MMO’s that are coming out with year I would stick with Guildwars 2 (with no expansion or ANY new content) over quitting and going to those other mmos. There just simply aren’t any good looking “new” mmos out to dethrone guildwars 2 for me.
I’ve played Gw1, WoW, Age of Conan, Runescape, Eve, Aion, Astro Empires, and now Guildwars 2 and I doubt Guildwars 2 will be replaced for a long time. I love this game so much!
Well… I really don’t see a reason not to try as many new mmos as you can. This game doesn’t require you to pay after initial purchase, so there’s no reason not to go playing other games for a week, two weeks or more, cause you can always jump back in for free if you’re bored of those other games.
Queensdale champ run with a reroll is:
– quick and brainless levelling (great when doing something else at the same time)
– karma (for obsidian shards)
– loot (look at the price of soft wood or linen)
– effortless daily (events, event mentor, kill variety, kill, krytan kills, krytan event, group event, veteran killer, champion killer, gatherer, recycler, leveller, skillpoint, crafter + some living story ones, all available in Queensdale)
– the occasional special exotic that sells for 30po (got that purple sword on spider at lvl 60 something)But never do it with your first character, you’ll spoil the fun of the game.
spot on
been doing this to level alts while watching a movie, large/multiple monitor helps
I fall asleep while doing champ runs or I get tired after 5 minutes. No thanks.
As someone mentioned before, I think that if each profession had a full working pure healing trait/skill line, it would largely diminish the problem of group composition.
Now that’s a good idea!
Give us legendary weapons through a legendary quest, not through a material farm that takes 6 months. Seriously, what happened to the “no grind”?
GW1 combat system did require you to have a variety of classes imo and a lot of teamwork.
It wasn’t like LFhealer, a healer could help you a lot, but you could still win without a healer, because healers aren’t all powerful either.
It wasn’t sitting in a corner, but was about engaging fights, where the healer just had a split-second to save his allies, and where the allies had to do their best to keep the healer alive too.
It was as many say a soft trinity. Everyone here is giving examples of an extremely harsh trinity here, that is indeed very boring. What GW2 needs is a middleway between full-out TANK/HEAL/DPS and the system we have now.
Subclasses could bring it, if they made certain that sub-classes had special roles dedicated to something, and no class could do that job better. Warrior atm is the one class that can do everything, while with a sub-class system you would still have a lot of variety and at the same time roles that were fixed with those sub-classes, making each useful.
Now we just have to go check the suggestions archive for all the topics they don’t want. :P
That is… crazy. Jeez…
Gee, what happened to the thread that was just here a couple days ago?
What do you think? They deleted it.
Actually all the trinkets we have now seem good to me. I play TPvP regularly atm and it feels rather balanced. Nearly all classes have their uses, either condi, direct, stunning, bunkering, group support. What it revolves around in most games I play is tactical point-capping and keeping a heavy pressure on enemies. I’m happy with the game as it is now, no need to bring new amulets that imbalance it.
I don’t believe you actually play WvW where you would actually notice the differences.
I’ve ran glass and bunker and had some numbers in between and I can tell you that at 3200 armor I can absorb a lot of damage. Not going to happen with a lower armored set.
It really depends… the best way to negate damage is simply to have a lot of mobility in WvW. I have been chased by 30 people a lot of times. My guardian bunker didn’t survive those encounters. My d/d ele, greatsword/hammer warrior, shortbow + sword/dagger thief, PU mesmer do however survive those encounters, simply by negating the kills, and fyi they’re all glass.
In WvW armour doesn’t matter. In WvW mobility and high damage matters, because that’s the only way to kill a zerg or to get away from it. If I get hit by 30 people with my slowpoke guardian with his focus/mace & greatsword with shelter and renewed focus, hell, I survive 5 seconds longer than my glass cannon warrior, with the only difference that my glass cannon warrior manages to get away a lot more than my guardian.
Armor does matter. I’m not going to survive as glass when I’m diving in to the other zerg. Done it and I found that dodges run out fast and something else was needed.
It may not matter as much small group, I didn’t do that as much as zerg and I was always in my zerg build when fighting small group, but in zerg fights, I didn’t survive long without the toughness that I stacked. When I tried glass, I was always downed first since I’m usually one of the first to contact the other zerg, and when I bunkered up, I ended up surviving the encounters.
I don’t do zerg fights anymore since like a year.
They hardly require any skill and their meta is PVT gear tbh. Been there, done that.
SIGNED °³8/4 characters
Lol. Bunkers are a piece of cake. They can’t kill you solo, and you can’t kill them either, so just leave em.
No, because they gather every kill in a duel or a in a fight against overwhelming odds.
You typically don’t stomp people in duels so someone should have very few kills from that. And on lower servers every side has fewer numbers and that doesn’t mean you are outnumbered more often.
Only if they /bow before dueling. If it’s just a random fight 1v1 without first bowing to make clear it’s a friendly duel, it’s a duel to the death (most of them outside OS are).
Because Anet is holding their leg stiff on this one.
“Oh no, you’ll miss the story”
(I already completed each race story & path once…)
“Oh no, you’ll miss your armour”
(Make it accountbound already…)
“Oh no, you’ll miss racial skills”
(Nobody uses them in the game)
“Oh no, you didn’t go with that character”
(Neither did I start off with a female character with pink hair in hotpants, gender kit anyone?)
“Oh no… we’re out of reasons”
(But you always find another one, even if there isn’t)
Too many hamsters rolling on the gear wheel to realize the benefits of equipment standardisation across all game modes.
You forgot me. I realized it long ago. Oh how I wish the whole game was level 80 (making levels redundant) and gear was free.
GW2 healed me from the idea, that there can be challenging and entertaining battles in a rpg without some form of trinity.
I will dodge all comments that will tell me I am wrong, because tanking them is not an option.
Too much win in one quote. You must be using Bloodlust and sigil of Energy. o_O
I have to agree though. There’s no challenge in stacking in a corner and dpsing a boss down, nor is there a challenge in facing the boss like we should while he’s just a massive healthbag dealing half-health damage every 10 seconds.
- There are confirmed users constantly getting precursors, expensive items & Ascended chests. For this happening, it has a multiper less chance than winning RL lottery.
- My consequences: RNG is broken, and Accounts somehow go “lucky” or “unlucky” on creation. I’m investigating the connections…
That’s not how accounts work.
There is a database. For it to be a difference between accounts there would have to be a “luck” value with either a number (percentage) or just an on/off. Do you really think the devs would even add that? What would be the purpose?RNG is RNG. People try to find a logic behind it when they’re unlucky. There is no logic, just RNG. And that’s why people are complaining. They can work their kitten off for months and never get lucky at the forge and be forced to buy their precursor. And to me and a lot of people, buying a precursor isn’t “legendary” at all.
Conclusion: it’s still Anet’s fault. They should have given us a legendary scavenger hunt instead of a pointless grind. No RNG, no grind, no buyable precursors.
Lol. Rng is so messed up. :P Most players never got any precursors with thousands of hours of gameplay, then some random guy pops 4 greatswords in a forge and bam…
Then we try it with 100x the amount and nothing. This shouldn’t be happening.I mean I only farm the forge for gold to Hoard the items and then eventually I will sell everything an flip for x2 or more the gold. Then help out players. I don’t like being selfish when it comes to Gold lol
I wasn’t referring to you. Just saying in general. Of course it’s okay you got 6 precursors out of forge, it’s just kinda painful that only a slight percentage ever does.
I’d prefer if they give everyone a precursor through accessible means (aka. a scavenger hunt), not through months farming or pure luck.
And, if you can spare some money, I have 2 gold atm (gearing up new characters does that to you), much obliged to charity. xD
I have a different proposal. If your toughness value goes above 1,5k- 1,75k- 2k- 2,25k- 2,5k-… you get an option to replace skills on your weapon with more tank-related ones.
They could be simple variations, adding protection, regeneration or a block on them, or they coul be totally new skills. The same should apply for power values above 1,75k- 2k- 2,25k- … and healing power.
Healing power and toughness would need a serious buff first though, because the max healing power one can get is 1,5k-1,7k, where toughness can reach 2k if you stack a lot of it, but power easily goes 2,5k-3k (especially with might & bloodlust).
I don’t believe you actually play WvW where you would actually notice the differences.

GLF healer….
After 2 hrs GLF healer….
Yeah right goodluck!
I would actually re-roll my gw1 monk if they added it to GW2.
LFTRINITY!
